Having frequented several drinking joints on my time on this earth I have never witnessed the shear pleasure of Katie the barmaid. Her knowedge of drinks, and pleasant conversation was refreshingly pleasurably. I will certainly be back soon to see her lovely smile! Keep up the good work! A credit to the establishment

We had a wonderful time with our family and friends on this pub. The staff and manager were friendly and kind enough to let us use the conservatory part of the pub for our reception, and allowed us to decorate it the way we wanted it the night before our wedding blessing. We had carvery that day and it was delicious! The staff even gave us two free bottles of wine, and I thought that was really generous enough. And just when we were just about to finish, they congratulated us again and gave us another big bottle of wine as a gift🎁. My husband and I were really touched by their gestures, good service, and generosity. Even our family and friends were impressed by the food and service. We’ll definitely come back here next time we are in England. We recommend it 100 percent to those who would like to do a party, wedding etc with family and friends. This would be the right place!👍🙂

Myself and friends visited tonight (Friday 31st August). We were very surprised to find the entire restraint was empty apart from us 3. The waitress was very friendly and attentive but we felt rushed through the whole process. From sitting down to finished it was approx 1 how 15 minutes for 3 courses. The started was lovely the chicken strips and the pâté. My main however the gammon was thick and I had egg shell with the egg, only a small amount yes but still egg shell. The pie was ok and the burger was nice. Presentation was spot on looked lovely on the plate for all main meals. When we got to the desert the cheesecake was unavailable which was fine. So we had 3 portions of triple chocolate brownie. 2 portions were lovely however the 3rd had a hair on the fruit, this put me off. The lady couldn’t apologise enough and offered a replacement but I didn’t care for dessert after that, the lady sorted a discount off the bill which was ok. Once finished the desert the lady offered more drinks again and then offered to bring us the bill. Once we had the bill had come We felt rushed again. Rushed evening. Atmosphere very quiet in the restaurant side, expected it to be busy.

Visited the twisted oak this afternoon for a anniversary meal as we came last year and find everything satisfactory today were we surprised how it seems to have gone down hill everywere looked bare and tiered young barmaid showed us to our table and said I'll be back to take your order she came back 20 minutes later apologising saying there was only her on duty and bar was busy she said manager should have there but he/ she wasn't barmaid run off her feet when we eventually got our meal which was steak pie and vegetables the veg was raw carrots still had tops on as in hadnt top and tailed them think chef as watched to many cookery programmes all very bland soggy pastry tasteless gravy will definitely not be returning and will not recommend this meal / drinks cost £26 40 didn't eat mine total waste of money ruined our day as it was a anniversary meal no refund was suggested even part refund would have been Nice

We were staying at a nearby holiday home and booked in On the Friday afternoon for the Sunday carvery. We were a large party of 14 adults and three children and the staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. The carvery was delicious and the honeycomb cheesecake for dessert was delicious. There is also an excellent gin bar. Highly recommend the Twisted Oak. Excellent value for money.

After many recommendations myself and my boyfriend decided to try this place, we wasn’t disappointed! The food was full of flavour and nicely presented, it is a great price to say that it is all gluten free and freshly made. We came at 4pm on Saturday so was very quiet in the restaurant, initially we was put off overhearing the language and routines coming from the bar but they soon left. Would definitely recommend and come here again, maybe a bit later though when the restaurant is a bit livelier. Overall great food, great decor and lovely staff.

Visited for lunch after seeing they offer gluten free menus. I was not disappointed, everything they offer is gluten free. This is the first pub i have come across that only offers gluten free and i think it takes a lot of committment. There was so much choice, more than I am used to. The food was nice, home cooked, pub grub. The best thing for me was that it's all gluten free! The staff were friendly and told us that they also offer a Sunday carvery, so I shall be visiting again to try.

My wife is celiac and decided to come here because we saw it on Facebook and only live 10 mins away in skegby. I had fish and chips and it was amazing. Proper big fish and home made chips. Wish I had take a pic but will have to wait till next visit. The child had a cheese burger and it was huge. The wife had tortia with chicken and bacon which she really enjoyed. The pub was clean and tidy with friendly staff and a couple of girls we thought was on work experience. The gin selection was amazing too. We went for 12pm so had the lunch menu ... steaks start after 5pm and a small issue was no gluten free vinegar as they had run out. Only reason for dropping a star! I will be coming here with my mum for fish and chips again because it's her fav and I really enjoyed it here

Went on a Thursday lunch time for food in the beer garden and a drink. The beer garden is very well set out but it was dirty, cig packets on the floor, bin was full. For food I ordered a chicken burger, and it was very good...when I got it. The girl behind the bar got the order wrong and gave our food to someone else. When we got our food we also had no cutlery, so had to go in and ask for some. Let down on the service unfortunately probably wouldn’t return.

Started going to this place in the winter months after it reopened and enjoyed. However since the sun has arrived and people are drinking alcohol in the hot weather it has developed a much darker side to it. Seems to be attracting some very aggressive types who after a few drinks seem to be spoiling for a fight. I was there yesterday afternoon after the England game with my wife, or young 4 year old son and an American friend who was over visiting me. We watched the Senegal game and whilst my wife was getting me a beer we suddenly found ourselves at the receiving end of the worse type of hooligan behaviour. This culminated in an unprovoked assault on myself whereby a thug decided to pick up,a bar stool and hurl it at me. This has resulted in me having a sore wrist and bruising due to having to protect myself. I for one will never step back in this place, to say it is family friendly is a joke and I would suggest the management needs to seriously look at how it manages customer behaviour

We called in here for lunch whilst walking the five pits trail and we were not disappointed! The food was nice, whilst nothing flash it tasted good, cooked properly and arrived in good time! Enjoyed a couple of cold drinks in the beer garden, a rest for the puppy and set off again with full belly’s! The first gluten free menu I have ever seen and I have to say you could not tell the difference!

Thoroughly enjoyed my Sunday Carvery here today, lovely building, friendly staff and delicious food. However, we visited with a vegetarian who would recommend a vegetarian alternative to the meat. But apart for that, 10/10!

Thank you for a great dinner, it was so nice to be able to go out for a meal without having all the conversations about being coeliac and then working out whether gluten free also meant no cross contamination either. It was good to be able to choose any of the food available too, Sunday dinner out can often mean paying full price but only having half a meal. All the food was seasoned well & tasted nice and not overcooked like many carverys.

The pub has been completely altered for the better since our last visit. The food was well presented and good value for the money. We had Sunday lunch, the only criticism we could make would be the roast potatoes were hard and under cooked, otherwise every thing else tasted lovely. I believe they had a problem with the heating today, we didn't notice, as the room we were in had a massive roaring open fire, which heated the place well.

We visited on boxing day for a family meal of 6 people. we arrived to a nice warm welcome off of the staff on duty. There was a large roaring fire with beautiful chesterfield sofas to sit on while we looked at the menu to order our food. We ordered off the main menu which was a good size and lots of choice especially for me as i am a gluten free diner. our starters arrived in very timely fashion and was superb. Our mains followed quite quickly and with a full restaurant we were very impressed. I had the garlic and wild mushroom chicken which was to die for. then onto dessert. Gluten free chocolate fudge brownie wow an amazing end to a wonderful meal. The staff from start to finish were amazing and to have smiles on there face all day even though they must have been giving up there Christmas was amazing dedication. I can only say if you have not tried the twisted oak yet please put it on your list of places to go - Amazing all rounder.

Took family for Christmas dinner and it was amazing! The goats cheese starter was to die for, and the prawn cocktails my dad and Gran had went down very well. Dad and I had beef Wellington and Gran had the turkey dinner, the Wellington was astounding, all handmade with a delicious pate between the pastry and the melt in the mouth beef, and gran was enamored with the turkey and the fact it was moist and so tasty as a lot of places it can be dry. All the veg was succulent and al dente, cooked to perfection! We were all podged by dessert but the cheese board and creme brulees couldn't be missed. The waitress kindly asked if we'd like the cheese left over boxed up to take home. The staff were attentive but not hovering, food was speedy but we never felt rushed. In all this was a wonderful Christmas experience, I've eaten here before and will again, love this place!

Came to Bolsover for the day on my wife's birthday to have a pub lunch and to visit the castle. Having read the positive reviews we went straight to the Blue Bell. Walking into the beer garden at about 11.50 we saw that the view on a good day would be spectacular. Unfortunately the weather was bad so in order to eat inside we went to the door marked ‘Entrance’ which was locked. I checked on line and saw the opening time was 12 am (??)  so we waited. A few minutes after 12 the back door opened and we entered only to be told there was no food (no reason given). Although there was a sign at the bar, a notice outside would have saved time being wasted. Fortunately there are other places to eat so we went elsewhere.

Really a let down. Wasn’t worth coming. Had a meal in the cafe and feel robbed. Wasn’t worth the price paid. £21 for two mini breakfasts, charged extra for toast and a pot of tea. Not to mention by the time you have got through there stupid ordering and queuing system to pay it’s cold! I really won’t be returning here!

We popped in fancying a pizza for us to stand at the till waiting to be served the guy looked at us carried on doing what he was doing, took 15 mins with still no acknowledgement so sat there and ordered in the app. Ridiculous service
