The Turners Mill in Redcar and Cleveland

Booked in for Sunday lunch. Food tasty. Reasonably priced. Seating area in general was clean. Did notice that the ceiling extract and intake grilles were covered in thick dust. This was directly above our table. Didn't fancy dust all over our food so we moved. No other complaints.

We come to Turners regular and its always gorgeous food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Our pooch always enjoys visiting his local too 😊

Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. We come here often and enjoy a quiet drink and now and again some food. Every time has been enjoyable. Jacob was very welcoming while we visited and we were served by April who was very friendly.

Sunday dinner 10/10 absolutely fantastic. Big portions, tender meat and a good selection of roast vegetables. Good atmosphere with modern pop music and good furniture. Served by Jessica with a smile. And cooked by Earl and Phoebe.

A busy Friday night but service was great never had to wait long at the bar despite it being full due to a works night out with lots of men!

we came here for our work christmas meal and the food was delicious, the chef earl couldn’t do enough for us! he kept coming out and checking if we were all ok or needed anything! nothing was too much for him, he really was such a lovely guy! he made my night and i’m sure my colleagues all thought the same . i’ll definitely be going back again!

Took a couple of friends for a bite and a pint. Had a Sunday roast and as always I was very impressed with the food and the service. A great experience as always. It has become My " Go to place" and never fails to leave Me Happy. Great staff, good food and fair prices. Happy atmosphere and very welcoming.

We always pop in the Turners Mill when we are visiting family in Redcar. It’s always a friendly atmosphere and great service.

We had our works Christmas meal here and the service was absolutely amazing. The kitchen manager Earl personally brought out our main and puddings which made us feel extra special as this sort of service is very rare. I would highly recommend any sort of function here and will definitely be returning for another meal.

Had a lovely lunch with friend we both throughly enjoyed our lunch the staff were very attentive asking if they could get us anything and if everything was ok with our meal which it was it was spot on

Met up with friends for the Christmas Menu and we all had a great night. Food was delicious (Crumble was amazing) Staff were so friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was relaxed and warm and the table was decorated lovely. We weren't rushed with our food, everything came nice and hot and the portion size was very good, all at a very reasonable price. Nothing was too much trouble for our waiter Riley. A young man and a credit to the company. We are already planning a return. Keep up the good work 👍

We have just got home from having lunch at Turner's Mill and wanted to express how pleased we were with the service from Donna and the food served up from Earl and Dan. We quite often have the typical pub grub lunches which are always good but today my wife deceded to try the "Rib of Beef" and she was bowled over. Her comments were along the lines of best meal she's had there, beef was fabulous and it could be better than some high end restraunts.

Had a great meal all cooked by Racheal , a good atmosphere and lovely service, the staff were lovely will be back ,looking forward to to it

Poor customer service in Turners today. Ordered two vodkas with slimline tonic costing over £11.00. They were both disgusting. The tonic did not taste or smell normal. Took the drinks back to the bar and was told there was nothing wrong with the tonic machine. Went back again to request the drinks are changed and was refused. Very disappointing.

Good service as always, even during Tier 2 rules. Safe place to visit if you're a bit nervous about going out again. Mixed Grill and Chicken and Ribs ordered, could not fault them, delicious and hot. Highly recommended.

Great friendly and courteous welcome today. Covid details taken without fuss. Relaxed lunchtime meal- both had haddock which was excellent and the syrup sponge was yummy! Today’s experience will definitely see us returning.

Me and my mum came for lunch, it was quite inside. We were seen and seated happily, no problem ordering and food arrived promptly. Food was as expected and really nice.I ordered the katsu chicken, when it arrived I noticed the katsu sauce was not the sauce I expected, it looked and tasted like chipshop curry, it was nice I didn't mind but that's not the katsu sauce that I know. I tryed to ask the (young male) waiter about this, not as a complaint but just as an inquiry. He stated yes that is katsu sauce and essentially turn his back on us to dismiss us, which i found very rude! Also no one came to quality check the food with us!Shame as we just moved nearby and this could be a regular haunt for us. To sum up nice food, poor customer service.And I think the vinigar tastes watered down!?

Came in with my family and the only thing more disgusting than the food was the managers attitude, wouldnt let us sit together when 2 of us were babies, the manager shouldn't have her job she was rude to our whole family we will not return.

We have been about 3 or 4 times this year, the last time being last week for my birthday. The food has always been fresh & home cooked. They have always explained that there would be a wait for food as each meal is cooked fresh to order. Because we know there is usually a wait then we don’t go if we want a quick meal which has been microwaved. I also had a voucher for a bottle of Prosecco. When I enquired about using it, I was advised by the manager on duty that it wouldn’t be valid with the 50% off deal they were currently offering. Staff are always friendly & cheerful. Only improvement would be a quicker turnaround on getting food out.

This is my go to place for a relaxed get together. I particularly like the Eston Mess Sundae but as I don’t like ice cream, they make it for me without the ice cream. I have visited 3 times since lock down was over, and the social distancing is good. However, last night the meal was the worst I’ve ever had. First of all, one of our party wanted carbonara but we were told there was no mushrooms. In reality there’s a Sainsbury’s over the road and they sell mushrooms. So instead the person order a lamb hot pot. When it arrived it had obviously been sat in the oven too long and was inedible as it was so dry. I then ordered my Eton mess and when it arrived in the usual bowl, there was a smattering of cream and meringue covering the bottom of the glass. When I queried it, I was told that as I didn’t want the ice cream all the stock was checked and if they’d increased the amount of cream and meringue in my one portion, it would mess up their stock levels!!! The waiter went on to explain that this was the case since they’d opened after lock down as the area manager had given them these rules. This was a complete lie as this is my third visit and I always have this dessert and this was the first time I had been offered this size portion. Due to my complaint, the waiter said he would only charge me for a child’s portion but I think they were hoping I would have been happy to pay nearly £5 for a 1” layer of meringue and cream!!! We also decided not to complain about the lamb hot pot and put it down to experience and just go elsewhere in future. Bad show Turners and it’s a shame as I was a regular.

I went to Turners for my birthday meal on 8.9.20 with 8 members of my family. I went to the bar where the barman told me all meals were half price except the set menu. i ordered 9 meals and 9 drinks and then remembered I had been emailed a free bottle of prosecco voucher. I asked the barman was it valid that evening and he confirmed it was, He took my phone and keyed in the code, said it was fine and gave me the bottle. I opened a tab and he told me that the bill would be around £60,My husband paid the bill and told me it was almost £73. I said to get a receipt so that we could see what we have paid for and on the bill was a £16.95 charge for prosecco. My husband returned to the bar and explained we had been told it was complimentary otherwise we wouldn't have had it and all that he was offered was a £16.95 credit voucher for another time. I then went to the bar and said to the barman that he had assured me it was complimentary, otherwise I wouldn't have had it. He called the manager over and she said she knew it was his mistake and she would be speaking to him about it but there was nothing more she could do and I had to take it up with head office. I said she should refund us the money as it was their mistake not ours. She said the till wouldn't accept 2 voucher codes. i told her I had only used 1 code but apparently they had a code for the half price meals but i hadn't quoted it - nor did I know that one existedShe said she had been through all this with my husband. She was very off-hand - in fact exceptionally rude. When I said that it was unacceptable and I wanted the money refunding she asked had I noticed at the bottom of the voucher that it said 'management reserve the right to refuse a voucher and then said well then I am refusing you the right to use it!I said she couldn't do this once having given the complimentary drink (of course they could have before giving me the bottle! - which actually would have been preferable)Her next threat was to cancel the payment and put through the free bottle but charge full price for all meals. I couldn't believe her attitude. This was her staffs error and not mine and yet we were £16.95 out of pocket. I had asked when I placed the food order. I was assured it was valid and now I was being treated like I was asking for something i wasn't entitled to. Actually all that it said on the voucher is valid with 2 meals from the main menu - we ordered 8 albeit they were half priceI told her her attitude was appalling and I would never go back there again and her reply was "good because I don't want you to" - unbelievableI then called her a rather rude name which I aren't proud of but I have to say summed up her and her stinking attitude so I stand by what i called her and would just like to say she really needs to sort out her customer service skills and if her staff make a mistake she should not expect a customer to have to be out of pocket - absolutely appalling. She ruined my birthday treat.i also noticed when I came on trip advisor that the previous trip advisor comment is about the appalling attitude of the manager - so not just me then that's had an evening ruined I intend to speak to trading standards about their practice of telling you something is complimentary and then adding it to your bill - doesn't sound very leagl to me!

Came for tea with my family and was absolutely appalled by the way I was spoken to by the lady in a chefs outfit who I was later told was the manager, I booked a table that morning over the phone for 8 (and a baby in a car seat)( baby didn’t end up coming so there was 8 of us) I was shown to my table by a lovely lady everything was going great next minute the lady barges over asking who made the booking very abruptly. I replied me? She went on to say how the table was booked for 7 and because there was now more of us she couldn’t use the tables behind my partner sat on the end where a chair was already placed before we arrived, i paused her and explained I booked the table for 8 and a baby. the way I was spoken to was unbelievably rude No customer service at all. And I even said I would happily take my money back and leave I was that gobsmacked at how I was approached working in one of the pubs ‘sister pubs’ I can say none of our team would ever speak to a customer like the way I was spoken to. I couldn’t believe when I asked another member of staff who it was she replied with ‘the manager’. Yes I know rules have to be in place as we have them too in my workplace but I dont see what the issue was because it was more than a meter away from the other tables and they were back to back. There was absolutely no need to approach me and my family with the attitude I received especially from a manger who you think would know better really especially when it wasn’t a mistake on my end but the person who took the phone call must have miss heard me or wrote it down incorrectly.We recently have been quite regular to the pub but have now been very put off by the way I was spoken too and made to feel like I was lieing about the booking size.

Went for a birthday meal on Friday 28th august 2020 the ribeye steak we received was absolutely disgusting they were really undercooked and nearly all fat you only even get one mushroom and Three onion rings For nearly £14 each totally disgusting the kitchen should be closed down or the cook fired

Visited the Turners twice in the last couple of weeks with two separate lots of friends(party of 3) and family(party of 5). Although busy due to the August Eat out scheme, the visits were a safe and enjoyable experience. The staff had done a lot of work with social distancing, hand sanitisers and method of ordering- well done Alison and team.Food was tasty and well cooked and with a minimal wait. Good attentitive service from our waitress. All parties were very pleased with the food and overall experience.Thanks

Ordered Baked Camembert as a sharing dish which was served fairly quickly but lacked sufficient bread for us to use as a dip. When additional bread was requested I was advised I’d have to pay extra which I felt was poor given there were only 10 small slices to start with. Maybe some discretion could have been used by the bar staff.

Visit 2 or 3 times a year. Lounge like atmosphere, food is good and prompt service. Lovely landlady. Great choice of beers on draught.

A friend always arranges a get together of a group of us who used to work with her. It’s always at a different location and the 2019 evening out was at Turners Mill. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced. We all enjoyed ourselves and the food was plentiful and delicious. Also, the staff were very professional and helpful.

Came here recently for a Christmas meal with friends and work colleagues and I have to say we really enjoyed it. The service is great and the staff are very friendly and polite. I now call this pub my local although I'm about 20 minutes walk away from where I live. Keep up the good work guys

Liked the pub layout before it got done out to be honest - my criticisms were always about the availability and standard of the cask ale.Happy to say that the new house ale (Twilighter) is much better than the last one, 2 other ales available too. The new layout is really good and the pubs best asset - Alison the deputy manager (I think!) - is still there doing her top stuff behind the bar.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight. The pub was extremely busy but our service was prompt and efficient, with just the right amount of time between courses. As a vegetarian I found the sweet potato and apricot tartlet delicious. And when two of us asked for tea and peppermint tea after the meal, we were given them free of charge. Thanks for a lovely meal.

We went to Turners Mill after it reopened after a refit. Very well done, nice decor, the staff were great as normal. We were very disappointed by the limited selection of the menu it has not changed in years. This stops us going in because of the lack of variety.

Went for a meal with my partner, ordered a starter and waited up to 45 minutes for a starter, service is terrible staff are not polite at all when eventually served my starter, we were then informed there was going to be a further 45 minute wait for main meals which when eventually served was burnt chips and under cooked fish , worst meal ever had , rubbish

My self and my husband came to Turners Mill for my birthday meal. We ordered our food which took over half an hour or more to come. My steak was so well done it was black and very tough. The peas and chips were freezing. My husband’s chicken was also very tough. I will not be returning.

Fantastic service everyone was friendly and polite food was really tasty 😋 and it was hot when it came out.

Ordered a meal for my daughter. Ordered Lasagna which she loves and one would think not difficult to get wrong. How wrong I was. Burnt on the outside and barely cooked on the inside

Three of us went for Sunday lunch. Waited over 30 minutes for food to arrive and no apology. Gammon and chips was OK, Sunday roast was average and not worth the money. No apology for the delay, and no one cleared our table. We were looking at dirty plates for ages. Disappointing experience and we won’t go back.

Waited 40 minutes for food to arrive! Excuse was that they were waiting for fresh roasted potatoes to cook. What a lie as they were old , cold and dried up. When waiter came to take our plates away he asked we had enjoyed our meals and he shrugged his shoulders when our reply was we’d had better. Will not be going back, like someone mentioned KEEP ON WALKING!!!!

Second visit in a short space of time, food still great, nice staff, didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. Great lunchtime specials menu too, good size for older children, will definitely be back.

Stopped off after shopping for few pints best pub for a well poured beer. We love the relaxed atmosphere of the pub with good quality beer and lager at reasonable price. Staff welcoming don't usually eat here but food looked good plenty of empty plates. Ticket number 313.

Being a Sunday it was busy but they managed to squeeze us in and the meal was really tasty, I had the gammon and I don't usually like gammon but my god that was lovely and chargrilled with the pineapple, it tasted like it had come off the BBQ.  My brother, Tim had the Vegan burger and he was really impressed. My Mum had the seabass and Dad had the mushroom pasta dish- they both finished the dishes so it must have been good.

Went to Turners Mill for the first time last year when we moved to Redcar from the South of England and enjoyed it very much. Since then we have been several times when friends from the South have visited us and they have all said that the food was very good.

About 5 years ago, this pub won CAMRA's pub of the season. At that time, Turner's would serve 5 or 6 real ales.

Great choice of drinks and food. All meals were delicious but felt ignored by staff. Nobody came back to see if our meals were ok and couldn’t catch the eye of any passing staff to request gravy for the pie as it was very dry and mayo would have been great with the scampi. I’ve given a 3 as I feel the staff could have been more attentive. I also didn’t like the waitress clearing plates whilst others were still eating.

Food was great with impecable service, staff couldn't do enough for us! Vegan options too so all our group were catered for. From the minute we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome. The manager greeted us behind the bar and was very chatty and friendly. We ordered our drinks and took a seat to check out the menu.

Absolutely brilliant , staff were outstanding even though it was Christmas Day and we all like to be with family they were spot on with the service. We came as a couple for the 3pm sit down, and can honestly say the food was out of this world, it’s the first time we have come out for Christmas dinner and will definitely not be the last, we will return due to the fantastic service and food. Well done turners mill definitely been turned around since the arrival of the new manager.

Booked for 2 of us for Christmas lunch. Went for 3pm and was guided to our seat immediately by Alison. Alison even took our drinks order and brought them to the table. Our starter (mushrooms) was served straight away and was delicious.

Came to Turners Mill on Saturday for food, we ordered an array of different foods to pick at and they were all lovely, especially the baked Camembert. The service was excellent from all members of staff which led us to make the decision of coming back today for Sunday dinner. I wasn’t sure what meat to have so was offered to have the trio of roasts for an extra £1 by the lovely lady who served me. My food came and it was absolutely lovely, the meats were gorgeous and my favourites were the pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. We will definitely be coming back again. Once again a disappointing visit to Turners Mill. Have visited many times as it is handy for where we all worked, have had problems over supposed “special offers “ which turn out to be difficult to redeem unless top price is paid for the menu choices and this time the food was simply dry and boring. Will not be back.

The pate starter was very nice, Turkey and vegetables was lovely, and the lemon meringue cheesecake was yummy : ) The atmosp was nice, staff were friendly. I haven't been here for a while but will be back soon.

We took my 94 year old mother in law for a birthday treat,mainly because we were recommended as it had wheel chair access.However the venue looks ok but the food goes away from the description on the menu.My pasta penne dish on the menu did not say there was any spices in the recipe,but there were chilli flakes in the sauce and it was not that mild.I gave my negative comments to the lady serving our table but there was no response just a shrug of the shoulders and an “Oh dear”.My wife had the jacket potato which had never seen a oven and was obviously microwaved as there was no colour on the skin of the potato.My mother in law had the scampi and chips which seemed ok.

Going to theatre and short on time to cook and have dinner. Ideal for a quick meal. Daytime menu is very reasonable and meal standards are quite good.

Ordered a medium steak, came out purple/blue, and ordered a wagu burger which was smaller than a cheese burger from McDonald’s, asked for no salsa came out with salsa, asked for garlic mayo did not have any also when asked to order they only had one of each in stock spent in total 64 pound on the food and lager, it’s over priced and the quality of food was as good as the book selection which was Katie price, won’t be returning cheers.

Turner mill came recommended by many and we were not disappointed. Food was good value and good portions considering we had the meal deal. For the price we could not fault it. Staff were not that friendly apart from the lady we believe was the manager. One guy was not that friendly and quite miserable, other younger guy was clueless and no idea tbh.

It had been a while since last visit so deciding to take family for a meal. Ordered meals but unfortunately when my meal came it was the wrong one. The rest had nearly finished there meal when my replacement came, which was placed in front of me with no apology. The salad on all plates was Brown on the edges and the chips were mostly hard an not nice at all. We sat after finishing for 20 minutes and still no one had come to clear table or ask how our meal was. It wasn't busy so couldn't understand reason for this. I've never felt so unwelcome while out for a meal. Very disappointing and won't be in a hurry to go back.

Went for a Family Sunday lunch and tried several places but all booked up so tried here and it wasn’t busy and found out why. Eventually even tho it wasn’t busy we were served. My meal was lukewarm with tough beef. My sons pork was more fat than meat. The extras we ordered didn’t come and had to ask for them. My granddaughter didn’t have a meal at all and didn’t receive it until we had eaten. As they were rude and said we hadn’t ordered it. When it came ( chicken nuggets)

Went for lunch with my mother as she had been previously and said it was nice. Clearly things have changed..

Went here today as my son won 1st prize at school raffle. What a lovely place to eat. Food was amazing. Staff very helpful. My son is disabled and they accomadated our needs very well. Especially the young gent behind the bar. The food was very reasonably priced as have a set menu through the week which is very good value. Definitely go again

Brilliant pub, great food, good atmosphere and app incentives. Frequent this place at least once a month. Friendly staff, great offers, very accommodating for large groups who are eating together. Two quizzes on a Wednesday and Sunday and daily specials on the menu. Thursday 'curry and a pint' night is a must.

Lovely place, easy to get too and the staff were amazing. Very polite and efficient in carrying out their work. Will definitely recommend to others.

Visited for a few drinks and they had a great range of gins and cocktails. Even better when they are two for £7. The staff where very helpful and looked happy. Definitely one of the best pubs in Redcar.

Visited Turners Mill today ,notices on door and inside saying there was a problem with the heating . Gillian the manager said she had complained to head office and asked for extra heaters was was still waiting , The service was very slow and waited approx an hour for main course .There only seemed to be two bar staff including the manager Gillian who i felt sorry for as she was trying to resolve problems . Come on head office send out repair persons there is no excuse ..

Ok - the Beast from the East is making its presence known (snow) but the place is freezing. Everyone apart from the lucky 4 in front of the fire have coats on. It’s regularly too cold, I’ve been known to put thermals on before heading in for a drink, hardly warm and welcoming (not a dig at the staff, who are lovely and have to work in the cold)

Ok so its snowing outside but it’s bollock freezing in here! Why are the radiators luke warm and the air vents blowing in cold air?

Another great experience when visiting family over Christmas with our Australian visitors. Lovely for them to experience the Christmas atmosphere. We had a few visits, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We ate there on Christmas Eve, mid afternoon, meals included Flatbreads, Steaks and roast dinner. All were really tasty, Never had red onion jam on a flatbread before and was so impressed had it again on Boxing Day. Boxing day eats included Pate which my Australian friend was so impressed with, pulled pork nachos, flatbread. All were top quality. The food did take a while to arrive as they were busy but worth the wait. Thank you again Turners

It is well known that at the Turner’s Mill they always have to little bar staff or the staff are badly managed. As the norm we went in the pub was busy but the bar had no staff. I went to the part of the bar that looks back on the staff relaxing out the view of guest and asked if someone could come out and pull some drinks. The new landlady/manager come out and asked what we would like. I thought no problems we can get some drinks at last. I asked her a question/some harmless fun about a actor, she looked at me like a 13 year old yelled “no” turned her back and walked away. This was the most disrespect I’d had from a bar staff member in my life. I 100% feel some basic customer serves training is needed. If I owned The Turners Mill I would be crying myself to sleep thinking of the thousands I loose each month in sales when the staff are out the back doing what ever they do.

Been going here for some years now and have seen a rapid deterioration.Arrived and found a table which after some time we have to clear away the dirty food dishes in order to put our drinks down which took about 15 minutes to order.I went to order food and the first 2 items were not available ie chicken tikka and sweet chilli noodles with garlic prawns.We then waited 40 minutes until our alternative 3rd choice food arrived which was of course cold.Whilst we were waiting we spent the time watching kids coming in from outside to use the lavatories.Most of the time the available staff was one person behind the bar and one other running around trying to serve food, they did not stand a chance.The general impression was that no one was in charge !

Nobody in . Ordered meal behind someone else. Their meals arrived quite quickly,ours never came. Eventually we went up to bar to ask what was going on. He said there had been a delay and it was being prepared. No apology. Waited another 5 mins still not arrived. We then asked for the food to be taken off the bill. No apology. They said we didn’t have to pay for any drinks. Quite clearly they had forgotten to cook our food. There was only 3 tables eating including us. The staff never bothered to chase up the food.At the end of the day we went to eat, not to come out with nothing. This is our local and we do eat there probably once or twice a month. So dissatisfied. Will go to the wacky in future.

Friendly estate pub , reasonable prices and a good drinks selection with lots to choose from , also a good pub quiz :-)

Just visited Turners Mill for the second time. Joined the club last time and have so far enjoyed a free drink and today 25% off the main meal. Food was very good although the chicken was a tiny bit overcooked. The fish and chips were excellent and the jacket potato was cooked perfectly. As for the Apple pie, it is without doubt the best I have ever had. Lashings of apple on a delicate sponge like pastry with piping hot custard. For a good quality lunch or dinner at competitive prices I would definitely recommend Turners Mill in Redcar.

Visiting my wife's 80+ year old mother, we enjoyed the food and drink on Monday evening. We were all satiated

Had a few drinks and had the lamb shanks amazing for the price well done all staff very good service

Perfect place for English style pub lunch . Great interiors and pleasant location .Food taste really nice and have lot of alcoholic beverages choice ... wide variety of food... have cash point next to it for any cash withdrawal ... have ample space for car park ...Will def go back soon ...

Frozen Yorkshire puddings beef you couldn't get your knife through. Hardly any gravy. This was the worse Sunday lunch I have ever had. Terrible with a capital T. Really doesn't deserve 1 star. My advice don't go I won't be going back that's for sure.

Visited Turners for a bite to eat...it was ok not as cheap as I'd thought it would be just one course x 2 from brunch menu and kids meals however I think it might of been the drinks that tipped it into a more expensive than expected lunch. Fish nd chips were good and the kids really enjoyed their pasta dishes. We will be returning.

Myself and my wife visit Turners Mill regularly. We have always received a warm welcome from the staff who are pleasant and cheerful. We have had meals and I can honestly say that we have never had a bad one. In my opinion Brunch is the best in the area. The main menu is good value 'pub grub' and we have never waited more than 30 minutes. The drinks quality has never disappointed and served is spotless glasses. I have tried to think of a negative comment but I can not. Keep up the good work Turners Mill and we will see you again soon.
