Same old Turks but with a new cook who does fantastic Georgian food (from the country not the time period) I can't get enough of it

Great pub, i visit every year I come to Reading, its friendly, very good beer and highly recommended.

I would give it 3.5, but there are no halves ;-). There is something about this place that made me stop by a few times instead of one. The selection of wiskeys is very small, maybe 4, then a few Gins, not too many, some other liquors, some wines, and beers. Most places have more, 1.5, or 2 times more. The place is small, but there is a pool table, and there is an outside sitting area on the front. On some days the place is packed, as there is some live music inside. I think a substantial part of their success is that it is one of very few places open on the side of a relatively big residential area.

Always excellent service and atmosphere

Nice selection of alc free gin and lovely staff. Music got a bit too loud at one point.

Craig and Harvey, fantastic bar staff, very friendly and welcoming and helpful. We came from London for a night out, googled "karaoke" and found This place on a Thursday. Dimitri the DJ was also awesome. What can I say. If we ever come back to reading, we will definitely return again. Most likely next week as we are here for a while. Thanks guys. Classic pub. Low ceilings, sport on TV, regular The Jam cover bands and the best front beer garden for people watching on London Road.

Great night out on Thursday, karaoke was superb!

Old traditional pub, excellent beer + guest ale well kept. Compet bar staff.

Nice pub staff and landlord are great very friendly. Wasn't busy but nice pub.

There is a member of staff by the name of Clare, who works there most weekends. She’s very dishonest, a beggar and a thief. Do not trust her

Nice pub, nice beer, go visit. Popped in at lunchtime on a Saturday in February 2024 to kill couple hours. Not busy, just one barman who was helpful and friendly. Great real ale, two barrels on when we visited. Lots of seating. No food available but barman happy for us to get a Taco Bell delivery, prob didn't want to lose potential income from six of us buying drinks! Superb pool table which we monopolised until food time, dead level with lots of properly tipped & straight cues. Couple locals came in while we ate, politely queried bit of money we'd left on the pool table and returned it! Also an excellent dart board where two very good players were er, at it. Ceiling very low in places esp as you go from front entrance to games room at the back, so watch out.

Visited this place for the first time even though I live around the corner - ‘ shame on me’ I loved it in here, very friendly staff and a good atmosphere all together.

They earned the fifth star because the staff were exceptionally good, plus great range of beers/ales available on tap. Lovely building as well.

Excellent place with real Friendly Locals who have been socialising there for ages & Live Music & karaoke Night on Thursday... Mila who runs the place is delightful along with her Staff, Tal, Tyler & Fred who are an absolute delight to be served by... Great Atmosphere... My New Local... Good place, good prices but not too much varities, no cocktails, dance snd show

Went to meet family on a Saturday afternoon, to be told we all have to leave because its strictly over 18s only. (We had 2 children with us). No where online does it say this, nor visible in the pub. Wouldn't recommend, no wonder the pub was empty.

The pub is pretty good, a low ceilinged front bar leads to a brighter space at the rear of the pub, 3 ales are served.

Cosy place where you can enjoy an afternoon chatting with friends, followed by a live concert! Unique and lovely atmosphere.

Good service .. good variety of drinks but no Wi-Fi and terrible signal… forget about using your phone here!! Needs a refurb Busy and bigger than expected . Pool table am darts and lots of live music so does have lots of bonuses

I went to karaoke evening with a group of friends who had been before. I was very nervous singing, but the DJ was brilliant he encouraged me (thank you), and other people in the pub sang along too. I didn't feel too bad afterwards. Turned into be a great night.

Amazing local pub, lovely food for a fast snack or a fast dinner, pool table still 1£! There are outside tables and a cover if it's raining, inside garden for smokers or not, Thursdays karaoke and weekend music, it is the best place if you are looking for a relaxing night with your friend, lovely people and friendly bartender.

I Traveled from kent to see an old friend and went for a mean here and their food is absolutely lovely enjoyed my time there and polite staff

This place has the potential to be absolutely brilliant, yet the manager is unpleasant, rude and sexist. We are a group of University students and we were there for our friend's 21st birthday, we are a calm group and were not causing disruption in the pub, we just wanted to do some karaoke. The bar staff were horrible and it ruined our whole evening. Definitely not recommending to anyone else.

Came in for a friends birthday. As soon as we came in they closed their pool table. One friend accidentally dropped his glass and they kicked us out. Felt like a racial attack as most of us were people of colour. Never coming here again. Absolutely atrocious, this place needs repressions for their actions. I’m appalled.

Cheap pints good vibes good service

Rude manager and dead atmosphere ruins lovely pub. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, I was asked "you getting a drink mate?" - by his chippy and aggressive tone it was obvious the manager was accusing me of using the pub without buying anything. He walked off with an annoyed look on his face as if I, as a customer, was an inconvenience. I walked over to him and called him out on it, saying that no wonder there were no customers here if he made everyone feel like a nuisance. He looked sheepish and started to get defensive, saying "no other customer is complaining.." - ironically there were about 4 people in the whole pub - if you have no customers, they cannot complain! Haha. Pure comedy gold. I definitely won't be going back. He ran off getting defensive and predictably shirty like people of his type do. The lovely pub with wooden beams could be such a thriving, friendly community place, but unfortunately it is not thriving in the slightest and it is a big shame.

Good night out great live music will attend again.

Pool tables good, staff moan alot, soda water (for my ex alcaholic friend) was more expensive then a pint which is disgusting (other places it was 90% cheaper)

Dropped in to catch the end of the cricket on a Tuesday evening. Pub was clean and tidy, practically empty. Comfortable seating and a few large flat screens. Service at the bar was quick.

Dreadful - quite unbelievable that anyone would even dish up a chicken bap with filling that resembled strained tinned chicken soup in a stale bun, with fried cabbage leaves on the side. Avoid.

Well, i wasnt here for long, one pint and some food, but it left a mark. I like halloumi and i like pizza, so have had plenty in the past. This place does the best halloumi i have ever had, and the pizza (hot one) was excellent, top 5 i reckon. The morreti was a nice pint, and the service was great to, absolutely nothing to complain about for a monday night. Great

Great town pub who support live music on a regular basis. Saw a band called "BandSubstance" a few months ago, What an AMAZING night that was. They are back on September 24th 22. They are a MUST SEE ACT

Good traditional pub, mix of craft and cask ales on tap along with lagers, ciders, Guinness, etc. Didn't try the food, but the menu looks good and not too expensive. Big screens for the football, friendly staff and clean toilets. Great spot.

Lovely food, great staff, and a brilliant Guinness. Late night visit as lad was in hospital. They served a lovely hot pizza at 21.30, and put on a fresh barrel of Guinness. Recommended.

Nice environment and selection of beers

We hadn’t been to this pub in YEARS. Debbie was excellent. I live in Nottingham but my boyfriend lives in Reading. We came down for a quick drink before going away on a trip to Devon, Debbie looked after us and even fetched us a bowl with ice for our Prosecco. Debbie is the barmaid we were all searching for. Thank you for making our experience excellent.

Haven't been here for years, on this visit there was an excellent choice of beers. The bar person was friendly and chatty. Looking forward to going back when music is on.

The whole pub smells like damp and mould. My pint tasted off and the table was dusty. Go down the road to the lyndhurst far better pub it dosent smell bad and they serve a decent pint.

Was OK had football on which was what we wanted it for as our usual place was a bit quiet for a Good Friday

Really enjoyed a visit yesterday. Very friendly and welcoming. The Exmoor Gold was excellent. Much larger inside than you might expect with comfortable seating. A short menu but very reasonably priced. We had hot and tasty bowls of soup.

I got a very warm welcome upon my recent visit. It was a while since I had been, but the recent change in proprietor has been good. There are now well-kept ales which they are passionate about keeping well, and the place is very clean. I'll be glad to come back.

This place is just right, Sunday morning when the sun strikes through the front terrace, lunch or Saturday night it’s just right with any occasion. Has a smoking area in the back such a conservatory and it’s not far off town centre.

Great little pub,had a nice curry and watched Liverpool stuff Atheletico Madrid,very good night. Also pretty quiet which for me was just fine.

The pub is nice and friendly staff are polite my only concern about this is my boyfriend and his mate James went drinking there last weekend and someone was being very violent and trying to start on every customer there was so my boyfriend decided to ring police as ally the manager wasn’t doing anything to be honest he didn’t do anything wrong by phone police my boyfriend then left the pub and then ally said to my boyfriend mate James that he barred then a couple days later my mate tried reentering the pub and they said he barred Bcos he hangs around with my boyfriend

Went on a Friday night and live music with a great band! So nice to have live music back again! Just had a couple pints (Amstel) so can’t mention the food.

Sociable pub with several different drinking areas, pool table and, sports tvs. Very pleasant efficient staff. Good selection of real ales and gin.

What a lovely vibrant pub and staff were very friendly with excellent service and Covid compliance- well done everyone had a great night watching the football and will be visiting again

We were watching the England game and were provided perfect service by the team throughout the game.

Not a bad pud went into watch the football, staff are great and place is clean not really much more to say about it
