Poor experience. Will not be returning.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Very rude and unpleasant woman approached me right after parking ordering me to move my car as soon as I parked, when my husband was about to go in for a drink - he hasn’t even had a chance to get out of the car when she ordered us to leave. Proceeding to threaten us with a parking fine when she wrongly assumed we weren’t going in, even after I said we were going in! What a joke of a pub. Clearly, we took our business elsewhere & will avoid like the plague. Don’t waste your time.

Rough locals pub, with possibly the rudest and most hostile landlady I have ever come across.

Awful atmosphere...awful service...unpleasant staff....customers smoking right by the door so you have to walk through the smoke. Not going to come here again. What a shame

It's my favourite pub when visiting Reading. Nice calm atmosphere, relaxing and great staff. Look forward to visiting soon.

Great friendly staff and reasonable price drinks

as soon as me and my friends walked in was straight away asked for ids not even welcomed or asked if we’re okay. showed ids and then was about to walk to a table to sit down and decide what we wanted to drink. was rudely told by the ginger young staff lady there that we need to buy a drink to stay. which i thought was obvious? we said yes we’re just going to sit down for a couple minutes. she said are you actually going to buy one though? even tho we just said we were?😂 not even 2 mins later we went and got two drinks. we stayed for about an hour and played a couple games of pool. i was stood between the high top table and the pool table with a drink half filled next too me. once again the young ginger lady came over and was telling us we need to by a drink to stay there and that we can’t just stay here all night . she said we can finish our game then we have to leave? but wasn’t saying this to anyone else. not to mention i hadn’t even finished my first drink😂 very rude and so much attitude for no reason. was overall not nice from the second we walked in until we left.

Great prices, can't be beaten, clean tasty pints, clean bar. Lovely bar staff, the hard working to keep everything ship shape

Good to watch sports. Various screens playing different channels. Beer cheap and staff friendly. Not tried eating there so no idea on that front.

The woman with the dark brown/black hair must be the rudest bar staff I've ever met. Really don't go to this pub. Much friendly ones in the area.

Quick service, beer was quite reasonably priced .

I have been twice recently and there was a very drunk customer who gets very loud and abusive to other customers which is not what you want when you just want to have a drink and watch some football, the staff do nothing to discourage him but just keep serving him more alcohol. Otherwise it is just your standard pub with an okay pool table.

Great place to drink however is full of Youngers

The staff here are great . Friendly and welcoming for us and are dog. Food was good. Few rough and ready customers but it added a bit of atmosphere

Great veiw landlady is fantastic bar staff are the same has a old school feeling. Great selection of drinks all aspects of social development in order, highly recommended.

Very hot in there, no need to have an open fire going when it's not freezing cold and very dark, had to use a torchlight of my mobile to look at something coz apparently the landlady doesn't like the main lights on, we asked for them to be turned on eventually and the chap reluctantly turned them on although he said he wasnt supposed too.

A pub for drinking not eating as they never seem to do food.on the plus side the beer is very nicely priced!and a good selection.

Great local pub, lot of intersting characters on the saturday evening, even has a couple of welcome sofas.

Never enough bar staff scheduled to work on traditionally busier evenings and lunchtimes, those apparent, seem to communicate with very little more than a grunt, and groan, as if the customer is nothing more than a nuisance. I couldn't tell you if the place has a landlord/lady/manager, as I've never seen any sort of supervisory presence in evidence. The dire service and creeping price rises, definitely make this generic excuse for a Public House one to currently avoid. It was actually better in the 80s,when the public bar was filled with braindead aggressive alcoholic vermin. I guess they're all dead by now. Shame.

This pub used to be good but has really slipped. The staff are slow and rude so the prices are the only reason to go now.

Went to The Prince on Remembrance Sunday.... couldn't believe they had only one person serving behind the bar! It was really busy, people were waiting ages to get served, we'd been there the night before and there were 3 bar staff on.....customers were walking out, an elderly gentlemen was helping by collecting the empty glasses and loading them to be washed. What a ridiculous time to not have extra staff on... good job they weren't serving food that day!

If you like sports on TV this is the place

The Prince has reduced its hours to opening at noon and no longer serves food. The drink prices are possibly to be increased shortly.

Disappointed. Run out of wine, fruit cider, j20 and more.

Steak for £12.95 was a lump of fat could not even cut it with a steak knive served with salad.the week before friends went and said the steak was lovely, served with mushrooms and peas. No love was put into my plate of food. Then was given back £11.00 not even the full amount.

Good Bar. British bar. British Beers Ales Lagers. Bar games darts pool table. Cleaned up a lot used to be fairly Rough place. But has cleaned up good food too not too expensive either. Nice place to come for a social pint bite to eat. Great for Groups or alone. Nice bar to watch Sky Sports on wide TVs. Comfy seating inside and outside. Great Atmosphere friendly staff.

Really good local that we go down to a lot. The new owners are amazing. So friendly and always say hi to me and my dog when we are outside. The food is actually really good, chef makes it all from scratch, including the batter on the fish and chips. Prices on drinks are really good. However, the only nitpicking thing is the lack of ashtrays outside, which causes a lot of cigarette ends of the floor and feels like it doesn't get swept much, so not the nicest smoking area. However 10/10 for service and atmosphere since the new owners came in

Recently moved in to Tilehurst and The Prince is the closest pub for me. Straight after first visit, I knew this will be my place. Good prices, great atmosphere and brilliant customer service.

We held my friends hen night in the Prince 14/7/18. We had a really good time and part of the bar was closed off just for us. We were also able to use the garden to play some games. This was the first time I had eaten there, the food was lovely and everyone else in the hen party enjoyed their meal too. Thank you to all the team at the Prince for making this possible.

Great pub, landlord has done a great job!

I can only comment on the food as did not go inside the pub. Ordered a few different burgers to which all were really good and for the 7 or 8 quid they were, we were really impressed. Couple of negatives hence the score. Very very miserable guy serving food, it really doesn't hurt to smile and offer condiments or tell you where they are etc. Outside floor and tables very dirty I would definitely go back just know there will be no customer service

A very good atmosphere and this place should be completed for their pricing. Hopefully they will prosper.

This pub had been shut before so the new management team have got off to a great start..

Went for tea, no food on, so went for an Indian.

Had a great meal. All four of us enjoyed it. Very attentive staff couldn't fault it.

We had great food me and my fiance and my parents can never fault. Everyone is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Ah, lovely. We just wanted a cup of Tea & to watch a Rugby Match. The staff were fab! When I asked my empty pot to have more boiled water added, she, the owner I think, made me a fresh pot. A lovely gesture, please go here. They are awesome! When we were there, no food though.

Very nice decor and new landlord who is making a effort. Looking good forward to food offering in the new year.

The refurbishment is great. The beers are cheaper than the plough and it has a pool table. Recently got sky sports too so there's no contest really. The bar staff are brilliant and even offer table service when it isn't busy. Definitely worth trying

After the refurb late last year it was a decent place with nice staff, decent food, and a nice atmosphere. Now that the "management" has changed c/w cut price drink it's started to go back to the old days it seems - unfriendly staff, overheard people talking about the poor food, evidence of drug taking in the toilets etc etc. Sadly I think it's the end of the place.

After a couple of visits earlier in the year, with good food and management we went back to find under new "new" management! Service Poor, Food awful, won't be returning.

Thank you to all the staff at the pub today. Fantastic food and everything was first class. It was a brilliant way to celebrate my father in laws special day. Well worth a visit and we will be back very soon. 10 out of 10.

The beef was inedible, hard and taste less, veggies where overcooked and tasteless. Pie filling was good but the pastry was uncooked. Service was inattentive, we had to stand up many times to get the cutlery, napkins and salt. We spent more than 30£ and left unhappy and hungry. We really wanted to like this place but nothing worked out, hopefully they just had a bad day.

Just been for a family dinner and it was disappointing there were no high chairs, the kids meals didn't seem to be very high quality and football was on the screen along with someone was vaping at the bar. I hope it's teething problems as the new owners have only been in 2 or 3 weeks.

Spoke to Alan the lndlrd.brill down to earth chap. Has cleared out the riff raff and the food is gorgeous.service is fab. Donna and I will return with Annargs Mimsicule & Lucoid!!!!

At last pub food within 5 minute walk that is enjoyable and edible with good portions, lovely friendly staff. Recommend a visit.

Went for an evening meal. Friendly staff and good food. Much improved to the pub that it was, just what we need in Tilehurst.

The food at the prince is great would recommend to anyone the cheif is to be complemented for his fine food

14 us had lunch today at the Prince, and everyone found it very pleasant dining, plenty of room for people with mobility problems to access the table without too many problems, The food was really good, well presented and good size portions. Friendly staff and atmosphere, will definitely have another group lunch there, fully recommend

The refurbished Prince in Tilehurst is a welcome change. Have lived in Tilehurst for 25 years and never went to the old Prince of Wales. On recommendation, have just had a great meal with family, lasagne and burgers both excellent quality. Very nice atmosphere, staff friendly and attentive without being over the top. Alan is an excellent host, and we wish them well with their venture. Will be returning as soon as possible.

We went 2x to The Prince because it was fabulous. The food and service was exceptional - Alan the manager was inviting and his wife was very accommodating on the first Saturday night we went there. The meat lasagna was perfect - served with side salad and garlic bread, I almost had the same the next time but opted instead for steak & Stilton pie with chips and salad (rather than mash & gravy). Spot on! Our other friends had the chicken leek pie (bit heavy on the carbs given the mash as well as pie pastry), lasagna (fab again), sausage & mash & gravy, gammon steak, eggs & chips.

Nice Sunday lunch. Friendly service. Abit on the quiet side but sure will get busier when word gets out.

Had Sunday lunch, roast beef. Food was good although limited to Roasts. Believe they have a wider choice in the week. nice friendly service. Give it a try.

Due to the revamp of The Prince seemed an ideal place to book for a Christening, which was to be on Sunday March 26th. This was booked with them over a month ago. However today The Prince have now cancelled the booking as they are now getting busy with bookings for Mothers Day. Not impressed if they are prepared to treat customers like this.

Really good! Very friendly and good pub grub

Ohh wow. The local pubs have got their work cut out for them; because the PoW Tilehurst is not going to pull any punches (in a business sense of course). Never really been a local pub man. Late 2016 saw a major change for this place and about time. The transformation is amazing & I look forward to going here on a regular basis.

Nice selection of drinks and friendly staff. I look forward to having a meal here. Lighting has been improved so much over what this place use to be like. Dogs are welcome if there is space. There is always the beer garden.

I've eaten here three times and have been very satisfied with the excellent food. The pub has been refurbished and is a delightful place to take friends for a meal or snack. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Do try this pub - you won't be disappointed.
