Great place to stay and in the town centre for all the facilities and transport links.

Good hotel, has a nice sports bar and a gym.

Good location, rooms were clean but out dated, staines on the drapes, Toilets on the ground floor were not clean, no interest from the staff, breakfast was ok but some things were from the day before which is ok if it stil good but some fruit and bread pieces were not good anymore. There is no check from the reception and people just walk in and out. There is some noise from the main road in front of the hotel.

Great hotel with so many fun activities including pool, table tennis’s, PlayStation 1, shuffleboard and darts. They also had a huge project playing the football which was great. The bed was absolutely huge and really comfy, the shower was perfect, one ceiling shower and another standard one if you don’t want to get your hair wet which we’re both well pressured. you get a rail rack and some hangers in the room. There are a few places down by reception where you can longe around in which has a really nice vibe. The guys on reception and at the bar were very welcoming and helpful. Didn’t have breakfast but we did order some snacks from the bar although I didn’t think the wings were the best but can’t complain. I would definitely recommend this hotel but the walls are very very thin so you’ll hear everyone’s convo’s on the way to your room.

Good hotel, modern furnishings and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the negative point is the service. The employees are there when you speak to them, but not proactive. All in all, a recommendation!

We requested a room with a large bed and we are still waiting The hotel has charged me four times and my bank is asking me to file a complaint for a refund. You couldn't pay cash at all.

Extremely disappointing. Room: Broken toilet, air conditioning not working. Breakfast: Staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves while tables were dirty, coffee was horrible, cooked breakfast dried out. All in all a terrible stay for the price. Management need to sort things out. I would ateingly recommend you avoid and try other hotels nearby.

Decent location in the centre of Reading for the price. The hotel lobby and bar area is cool, and the rooms are decent. Would recommend.

AC does not work. Smelly room. The bed is uncomfortable. Breakfast is mediocre at best. With this price there are far better options.

Fantastic F&B and Reception team ever

The staff were very good and the bar staff were very friendly. The only thing I would suggest is moving the ping pong table further away from chairs as it gets quite stressful having a ping pong ball flying over and landing in your chair every 5 seconds.

Absolutelly amazing place to stay. The rooms are clean and spatious offering a perfect view. The guy at the reception called Mareks (hopefully I spelled right:)) was very kind and professional providing a great service and helping me find a perfect place to leave my car overnight. I will definelety recommend this place to other people seeking a nice luxurious and affordable place to spend a few nights in. Thank you for your exceptional service.

Overall a cool hotel but the rooms felt a little dated compared to over Penta's. Other than that it still had a penta vibe

Was my first stay there and really loved the overall experience as there was a certain level of personalization which I was not expecting. The rooms are pretty clean and quiet but I bit tight as well. Overall a pretty positive experience and loved the fact that a lot of great food options are at walking distance. The lobby even had a few activities for the guests to do which was really nice. The only downside is that sometimes the elevators take a long time.

I've stayed in this hotel twice already and my experience is always good. The front desk people are always nice. The place is close to the city center and one can easily get the daily necessities. Their bar also serve good options of drinks and food.

I have stayed many times in this hotel in the past. The reason was that my daughter was renting a place nearby. This was my last visit in this hotel because it is clear, that the hotel is aiming in younger people. The lobby is more like a pub than lobby of a hotel and reception... They even have table tennis with people playing and shouting... Also the location of the hotel is far from the oracle and other shopping area. And last but more important the air conditioning in the room was not working and with no telephone in the room you cannot reach the reception and you have to call them by your mobile...

Clean, modern, staff friendly and helpful, comfy beds, great location.

Conveniently placed just off the centre of Reading there’s a nice big bar area which is often quiet. It would actually make a nice place for a quiet drink even if you weren’t staying here. The rooms are decent sized with good heating/AC units and are kept clean. Overall a trendy hotel in a handy locations.

Good location and helpful staff. Rooms with actual doubles rather than 2 singles pushed and zipped together would be nice. Road noise from dual carriageway can be quite intrusive too.

Very nice hotel situated not far from the train station, accessible by foot. As soon as you go inside, you can smell a lovely perfume that goes with you everywhere. Very nice detail! The lobby offers access to free games and there's also a live band some nights. The breakfast was the best I've had in the UK so far! The rooms are big and modern, but can get noisy from the busy road. And also a bit chilly during the night, despite having the air con turned on. Overall an 8/10.

Having stayed previously and had a great time, we opted to stay again. The experience was not as good. Slow service and unhelpful staff was a real shame. We were not the only ones to experience trouble with payment details and then when we rang room service, we were told to ring Uber eats!

A nice welcoming hotel in a good location not too far from Reading centre (shops/high street/bars and restaurants) The room was nice and spacious, lovely and clean. The bathroom was good and the shower was nice and powerful 😊 WiFi in the room was excellent and free. Good access around the hotel with ramps and lifts available. There is very limited parking 🅿️ on site. There is a Q car park on Chatham Road, a few minutes walk from the hotel and you can get reception to validate a 40% discount. Breakfast 😋 was really good, lots of choice, continental options and full english, hams and cheese, cakes, juices herbal tea🍵coffer etc. I slept really well 🙌

Staff very friendly and willing to help out in any way. The whole hotel is very dated and feels dirty. Been twice for work events where they've put on a buffet that's been very basic.

It was just amazing! 😍✨ The location, amenities, rooms, breakfast, staff - all were top notch. The hotel has a huge lounge area/bar, a pool table and even a cool library. Its location is just perfect, right as Reading’s high street begins. Besides that, the breakfast is just absolutely PERFECT. There’s anything you can wish for – from pastries to seeds and nuts, to a full English breakfast, cereals, fruits. The quality and freshness is nothing compared to what what we actually found in other hotels. The options are way too vast and all vegetarians/vegans out there, you won’t be disappointed! We’ll be back guys, surely! <3 <3

LOVE THIS PLACE! ❤️❤️ I must say that everything was excellent. The location of the hotel is so close to the high street, so it’s basically close to most of the amenities you may need. There’s definitely a high quality of service and attention to detail by all staff. The breakfast was incredibly tasty, with endless selections of fresh food. We couldn’t ask for anything better when it comes to the room (the bed was absolutely massive), with plenty of space to work from, a kettle, a tv and a spacious bathroom (there’s even a hairdryer), and we surely enjoyed the pool table and the table soccer in the lounge area downstairs! We definitely wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere other than Penta Hotel if we ever go to Reading again! Thank you, it was absolutely dreamy 💫

Room was a decent size. Everything clean and tidy. Staff were helpful. Decor a bit dated, curtains didn't block out the street lighting, and I could hear quite a lot of noise outside at night. Breakfast was pretty good.

Lovely reception, good rooms, customer service needs some work. Also was working nights whilst staying and the curtains keep out absolutely no light.

Reserved a gamers room, which we were very excited about this unique aspect. İt says it comes with a pinball machine and PS4. İt doesn't, only one or the other. Then the PS4 didn't work and got a poor selection of games that didn't work either. The air con blew out hot air into a already boiling hot hotel, we were then moved rooms to another room with the same problem so had to request a fan to keep the room at least semi cool the service was good but the hotel was not accomodating. Was told the parking was discounted from a certain price and that was wrong, that was the price so ended up being £11 a day when I was told around 5/6. The room was full of stains on walls and floors and genuinely felt unclean. This hotel is not worth the money and with a bad location, very overpriced and not a great breakfast either. İt is a shame as the unique rooms were a selling point online but we're just generic, unclean and small rooms.

I had checkin 18 Oct 2021 the reception guy ( from Italy ) is very friendly and polite . Especially , with a patient attitude and profession approach towards to all the inquiries , and also offer a good room service . The room is spacious and bright enough - comfortable stay . Will recommend with anyone who would like to come and stay in Reading center hotel

Lovely lounge bar with free pool table, friendly staff, decent hotel

I celebrated my birthday here over the weekend. We also booked 8 rooms. The hotel is beautiful. I looove the lounge area and beds are super comfortable. However the best experience was with the staff. Their system was down and there was a wedding going on so pretty busy but they were all super helpful and calm and friendly. Special thanks goes to Mat for helping with all the bookings but really the whole Penta team deserves a medal. Thank you guys. I will recommend Penta hotel Reading all my friends.

A decent hotel but the room was a bit tired. Running toilet, difficult shower but comfortable bed and good service

Stayed here for 1 night in September, Staff were polite and helpful, but unfortunately other aspects of my stay put this to shame. to kick it all off the room was not cleaned, I found toiletries such as used toothbrushes from previous guests and all surfaces were littered with dirt and grime, the wallpaper was cracked and overall there was a smell of uncleanliness. to then top all of this off the receptionist put me under the impression that parking was free, I then woke up and ended up paying a "reduced" rate of £16 for less than 12 hours of parking, for such a large establishment I find it hard too see how you cannot cater for your guests parking. overall very disappointed

There honestly isn’t much to pick out with this hotel! The setting on entrance is really nice and chilled. The staff on the front desk are so friendly and helpful! The rooms are very spacious and clean and they cater for young children too with travel cots provided in request. The bathrooms is also very clean and modern! The only one thing to pick out would be the TV access, when you try to log in on any of the apps it seems to think your in a different country and won’t let you use it.

Great hotel. Very lively at night bar open 24 hours. Parking is a little inconvenient but the room was lovely and the service and breakfast was 1st class. Well worth the money.

Terrible hotel in all aspects. staff ,cleaning ,service , parking etc etc .No enough pillows, No regular cleaning, Not provided baby coat ,essential stuffs not working.No 4 star hotel standards at all.Very disappointed .

Next door made so much noise for hours, I called reception who sent security up who did nothing about it. They were screaming and blasting music through the night. We had to change rooms into a freezing cold room at 2 am, 4 floors down. Both times I rang reception, they did not once apologise for this. The hotel manager said he would resolve this but has not contacted for over a week now. The lift floor was covered in alcohol. We were inconvenienced for someone else making noise, the people making noise weren't told off or fined or kicked out. This is more of a party hotel where the staff don't care if you don't get your sleep. Update: the hotel manager has refused to resolve this issue after seeing my review, despite not getting back to me over a week after he said he would. He said he had a lot of annual leave, that's why he hadn't contacted me, so my case was clearly a low priority. I also notified him I would be leaving a review soon, had to chase him up 5 days later and then left my review.

Literally the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. This place should be avoided at all costs! Shower didn't heat up, phoned reception and was told "just leave it running to warm up" 30mins later did not even manage luke warm. Toilet didn't flush, stains on carpet, curtains didn't close all the way. Breakfast no beans! Seriously what sort of hotel has no beans for breakfast! The room was pokey and everything was temperamental

The bed was huge and very comfortable, but we had a single quilt each which was odd as we would usually cuddle up. The hotel is in a good location for the town centre. I personally wouldn't stay again. The hotel had a strange smell. The corridors smelt like a hospital/care home which put me off. The breakfast had a good continental selection but the juice seemed watered down and the hot food was disappointing. We left the whole plate as just wasn't nice.

Faultless experience! Had a very pleasant stay in Pentahotel Reading. The room was excellent in size, the bed was delightful and facilities like the bathroom, tea/coffee were all good quality. The ability to cast your media to the hotel TV was also a nice touch. Staff were very pleasant, and the late checkout was really welcomed. Location is fantastic- very central in Reading, but when inside the hotel you are well isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Beware!! Not actually a hotel, it's a prison for returning travellers.

Really nice hotel, the rooms are huge and comfy bed. Bathroom is lovely as well as the reception area. Had a couple of drinks in the 24/7 bar, not too expensive but not a great atmosphere, no music on apart from a little tune in the background and a bouncer kept walking round checking on everybody. One thing that massively let our stay down was the noise of the room, we was next to a dual carriageway and the noise was so so loud! Constantly cars going past fast all through the night, didn’t sleep very well at all because of the noise, definitely need sound proof windows of some sort and the curtains let light in. I would stay here again but would definitely have to request a quieter room as I couldn’t sleep with that noise again.

Provide drinks and snacks in between meals.i was very much stressed about my 10 days of quarantine .today is my first day of quarantine. Absolutely awful, food was tasteless and unhealthy, no menus. A very poir show. Would never go there again.

I had a horrible experience. The staff is very rude and treat quarantined guests like trash. Food sometimes is OK, but some others is inedible trash. If quarantined guests are not allowed to go out of their rooms, at least be kind enough to ACTUALLY DELIVER the things that people ask on the phone. On multiple occasions I phoned reception to ask for water and tea but they never delivered it to my room.

It is just horrible experience, I mean i knew what was coming cause obviously it is quarantine hotel. But some of the staff were really rude, I mean they have forgotten basic courtesy of speaking in a polite manner. I am not sure may be they are just tired but aint that a basic nature that you should have if you are working in hospitality sector. Some one from reception screamed at me when i politely asked that its 8.20 pm and can you please serve me my dinner. Jeez mate you could have just told I am sorry we are trying our best, And i would have taken it fine. I have no words guys, I am sorry if guests have overpowered you and made you go nuts . Hope things turn into normal soon. Cheers

no the hotel staff or the so called manager honestly doesn't even deserve a one star! so rude and so unhelpful I don't even know how I'm going to complete my quarantine days in this hotel. anything I say or ask for they pull up the 'these are the rules' card! utterly disgusting! and I don't want to get started on the food they serve - I already have 2 ulcers in my mouth and I arrived yesterday night! I cant wait to get out of here.

This hotel doesn’t even deserve a one star. My hotel quarintine has been bad. Such bad food and bad service. The staff is overworked and unable to provide good service. Definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. This is the second time I have a bad experience with this chain of hotels.

It doesn't deserve any star at all, it's quarantine service is one of the appalling services.

No answer from the phone after multiple messages left. You have become a UK quarantine hotel so show some decency and call people back with their concerns!!!

Our room was ok but had the weirdest toilet. The door to it was like a public toilet stall; there was a gap below it and to the sides! Basically, there was nothing to stop the poopy smell going in to the main part of the room. So yeah, weird.

Excellent in every way; reception staff, check-in, room comfortable, bathroom clean, housekeeping do a good job. The location is good too. I have used it twice, November, December, would use the place again if I am here.

Honestly not worth 4-stars. Worth 2 stars at best and that’s being generous. To start off, the main doors to enter the hotel were locked and there was no one at reception to let us in. We walked around thinking there was another door but there wasn’t. Finally after being let in and going to our rooms we were shocked that they looked nothing like the photos. Complete false advertising! Walls cracking and falling apart, dirt all over the walls. Stained carpets, and a mountain of dust under the clothing rack/shelves. Kettle was full of limescale, lack of tea selection, air condition was definitely broken! Do yourself a favour and don’t stay here unless you necessarily should. Doors to the hotel were always locked, it was always a struggle getting in/out Pool table was also closed but everyone’s touching the same lift buttons and door exit buttons.

Always a pleasure to stay at Penta. It is literally mine and my Boyfriends fave place to stay. The staff are always welcoming and adhere to your needs! Matt is an amazing host, makes the best drinks and makes you feel utterly comfortable! Definitely a one to stay at! Thank you guys.

Literally was begging Maya for Ibuprofen. She said the hotel does not keep it. I asked her from human to human if she had any herself. She said no. What woman do you know does not keep pain reliever in their purse? Seriously? Maybe if you are a black male and 6’1, Maya will not have any for you at all! Very disappointed...Will make sure I bring this all the way up the PentaHotel chain...

nice staff but i would probably try elsewhere if staying in Reading again. In a bad part of town, turning left outside the hotel is a bad idea: drugs, street dwellers, wannabe gangsters and rubbish. woken up at 4am by drunks having an argument; not the hotel's fault of course but their breakfast is not very good. room OK.

When i booked I asked to be on the sixth floor as I have previously stayed here before and liked being high up for personal reasons. The guy at reception said that floor is closed but its not, don't know why he would lie. After train issues it took 5hrs to get to to reading. I was looking forward to relaxing. I have a room (206) next to the staircase & the housekeeping cupboard which is not quiet at all, the housekeeping staff sound like builders when they are banging all day, i get they are working but more consideration is needed. I enquired about a upgrade to a penta plus room, I spoke to a nice lady who said the hotel was booked up and did offer a standard room on the 1st floor but I declined as the floor seemed busy. I like the hotel but this is probably my last visit. Time to try other hotels i think.
