This place is an absolute gem. It's been a personal favorite of mine for years, and I can see myself coming back here for years to come. Everything on the menu is just perfect—you really can't go wrong. The staff is incredibly friendly, and even in the busiest of times, they still manage to remember you. It's that kind of personalized service that keeps me coming back.

Food is great, offcourse. But the service hoshhh, any person who is traveling or going home after a long day needs a restaurant with good service to make them feel good, and usually london’s branches are quite friendlier compared to reading. I asked for churros and the lady with glasses rudely said you will have to wait for 10 mins, i was like alright i will to washroom and come back have my burrito and churros, but she said you cant use washroom, its already been closed. I mean how can a customer’s washroom is closed before even the closing time ?

A personal favourite. I have been coming here for yours and likely will for years to come. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff are very friendly and will remember you even if it’s a very busy place.

Visit this place recently, I paid for large burrito with beef which is £1 or £2 extra, plus added some salad for another £1, well over £11, to get a 98% rice filled burrito, nothing else in there. As you can get a 1kg of rice for £1 and a tortilla for 20p, it was not value for money.

Never ordered but as a delivery partner staff are very nice and friendly people with the personal touch you can see reflected in their food which I would like to try because of that. The place is a trendy place and has a great atmosphere and menu food seems fresh and nutritious added bonus they offer delivery. If in bicycle a good place as cycle racks not far! Update. I must say this is the best of the best certainly for burritos 🌯 best portions and fresh wholesome ingredients so good I fact I did not take a picture of my plant mince tortilla because it was that good. So many options to try as well with fillings. All I would say it the nachos are good but might go well with a sauce like chilli 🌶️ guacamole 🥑 or mint coriander 🌿 riata and salsa 💃 sort of thing

Popped into here today while shopping. I love Mexican food and this is a quick and easy solution. The menu isn’t massive, but burritos and tacos always hit the spot right? Quick service and tasty food. Lunch sorted. We will be back. 👍🏻

Was looking for hot comfort vegetarian food in venue comfortable to eat alone as visiting Reading for work. Friendly welcome, took time to prepare to my choice so knew all going in, tasty, filling and in a quirky relaxed venue with light alcoholic drink. Spot on.

They used to allow dogs inside and have had a lovely lunch/ brunch previously, today they only allow service dogs inside.

This used to be a favourite of ours but not been there for a while. Went today, Saturday , for breakfast. We were met by an expressionless and unfriendly woman you showed us to a table without engaging with us at all. Without being too long winded, our breakfasts were the worst we have ever been served. It seemed pretty obvious that whoever was in the kitchen was not experienced or had not had any training. A poor show for a place that we previously had never had any complaints about. We will not be back.

I have eaten here often in the last four years, but today was unexpectedly bad. In a nutshell, it was about 75% full when I went in around midday, ordered eggs royale, which were late. Fine — it happens. The egg yolks were boiled solid, and lukewarm, the sauce burned my mouth. I’ve eaten eggs royale here often and they always did them runny, so that the yolk mixes with the sauce. This felt more like a picnic open sandwich. I don’t know if the cook was as hangover as I was, after the 30th of October, but it’s a pretty crap experience. Wanted the bill to get out of there asap and put the mess behind me, but the first time I asked for the bill, I was left to wait 10min. Cheers guys, was your system breaking down, too? Do get your ducks in a row, Patisserie, for being fed half-assed food and then overcharging, you already have stiff competition in Reading.

We ordered for high afternoon tea for Sunday 19th Sept. 2021. The scones were not the ones you get in the shop, they were small and dry. The cakes were not the small and varied ones you get in the shop, they were big cakes we had to cut in three and they were only two sorts. We paid £90 for 3 afternoon teas. I was so embarrassed for my guests. And the staff is just polite enough. The lady didn't seem to be pleased to sell take away.

Ordered afternoon tea for 6, cakes badly packed so that in transit they tipped over & I had to scrape the icing up! We were missing 4 scones! Of 3 boxes of loose leaf tea only one came properly packaged! I emailed my complaint & as it didn’t occur to me to take a photo, I was too busy trying to present the food well for my guests I was told they could not give me a partial refund!! Will definitely NOT order from this organisation ever again, VERY POOR SERVICE

Not always tasty and good luxury breakfast. When we ordered we just asked a fresh orange juice but hen he came with orange is just the orange in bottle.... how is it possible? Do you know the meaning of fresh orange juice ? Also the cup of soya cappuccino was bad smell. The plate of vegetarian English Breakfast was delicious. I’ve been there many times, but it is becoming old and not welcoming place.

I have been few times for coffee, afternoon tea with friends. But we never had a good service from start to finish, it always very busy and staff very stretched. Definetely nice cakes, food etc, but for some reasons, coordination between the orders for drinks and food lack of consistency. You get one or the other, there is always something missing a fork, cup napkin. I feel sorry for the staff.

Hopeless ordered open chicken sandwich and a coffee after half an hour and having drunk my coffee 15mins ago, I could see several people getting frustrated waiting and asked how much longer I would have to wait. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back and said it had not even been started. I therefore cancelled the order and left. If there was a problem in the kitchen I should have been told when ordering. THIS seems to be a problem these days with kitchen staff that are employed and not able to cope with the amount of covers in the restaurant.

This was the 3rd time I’d been for afternoon tea at this location. My friend treated me. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The sandwiches were fresh and a good selection of fillings. The little quiches were fresh from the oven and still warm. The scones were delicious and there was no problem asking for more clotted cream when we ran out. The little cakes were lovely too. And the tea was bottomless. Thoroughly recommend this for a great value afternoon tea.

First visit since the new Management took over. Standards have clearly dropped. 8 minute finger sandwichs served on stale bread. 6 'mini' finger cakes, 4 mini scones. Tea or coffee. Basically much less than previously offered, not worth the money. Wouldn't bother again.

Visited today, waited over 45 minutes for order to be taken and delivered to our table. Fruit salad consisted if strawberries and blueberries, unwashed and believe straight from the box from Sainsbury’s, £3.50, plate with cakes, saucers and spoons were dirty. Feedback on departure and was told they were short staffed. No return custom from me sorry to say 🙁

Foods good but slow service. Would of had more to eat if was not for the slow service as we would have waited all day for a cake after our soup. Nice mid day snack menu but be prepared for a wait. Pity as a good brand and suffering due to leadership issues.

Work within the same shopping showed my discount card many times and assistance over charged me refused to give me my discount and charged me £9.75 for a tea and crossiant. Then pulled a face cause the crossiant was upstairs and she had to go get it. Surprised it has not been closed down really poor food and staff never smile or care about customers.

Nice friendly service. Chocolate cake was delicious. Didn’t think there was as many cakes to choose from than at other branches I have been too.

Having not purchased from Patisserie Valerie for a while and having previously enjoyed their high quality almond croissants, I decided to treat myself and my daughter. I was distracted when paying by card and didn't notice that I'd been charged £6.40 for 2 croissants to take away until I got home when I then realised also saw that the croissants were half the size and, on eating mine, definitely of far poorer quality - poorer than supermarket bakery ones that sell for around 1/3rd of the price. I've emailed in a complaint and await a response. I expect compensation. I'm now very worried about a wedding cake ordered for 2 weeks time. Simply not good enough. Pull your socks up.

The cake is very tastey and the coffee was just breath-taking. I'd reccomend coming here with someone or a few people for a sunday morning coffee/cake.

Looks lovely and all those cakes are enticing. However there is no atmosphere, the staff really don’t care, the place is tatty. No point visiting, so many other places do it better. Can’t understand its popularity.

This has always been my favourite place to eat in Reading since Platters closed. It used to be like a little taste of France. I have recommended it so many times to others visiting Reading. Food was fabulous and service very French and efficient however this is the second time now that I have gone in with another person. Placed an order and then not been served half of the food...it just never arrives. The new menu is not a patch on the old one for a start and then the order when it is taken seems to evaporate into thin air...well at least half or it. Then to make matters worse when we go to pay having decided the gateau was never going to arrive we explain the lack of cake get a "I'm sorry" with minimal interest and then in the next breath are asked "was everything alright with your order". Could I suggest implementing a system of checking that every order is complete, a return to the lovely menu you used to have and a little less time on American platitudes such as "was everything alright with your order" when you've just been told it wasn't! Sad to say as this is the second time in the last few months since the staff changed that I have experienced this and I'm not sure I will be back... If I want to eat in generic impersonal cafes with poor service where there are plenty of them to choose from. I miss my taste of France!

We popped in mid shopping trip for a refreshment and a piece of cake. The chocolate slice was good, although we missed the profiterole - they always used to do this on top of the double chocolate slice! It’s a shame the service didn’t come with a smile...

Brought vouchers for afternoon tea, it’s a big branch so they can accommodate and because of this there is no need to book which is very convenient.

This was my favourite cafe and place for a good healthy breakfast, salmon salad, fruit salad, drinks and a good cup of coffee. However noticed change of menu, disappointment rushed careless service, and worn out tables and chairs .

This is my 4th visit, and again what a wonderful place it is. The staff are friendly, helpful, and we were served almost immediately. We had two cream teas. Love it, that the tea is loose in a container in the pot, not those horrible teabags. The scone was a little overdone, but delicious with the jam and cream all the same. Every time I come to eat at this Patisserie, I always look forward to another visit.

I recently visited for an afternoon tea, and was extremely surprised at how rude and unprofessional two of the ladies were. I asked about an allergy to which the staff member very bluntly said ‘no have nothing of that’ in a very snappy and rude manner. The lady then went off to stand outside to smoke whilst I was waiting to order. I’m an environment that was very chilled and supposed to be lovely, was spoiled but the rudeness of the staff.

Having eaten at Valerie’s many times before was really looking forward to a drink and cake with a friend. When my Mille feuille arrived I was so disappointed. It was at least half the size of the cakes I’ve had here before. The large cakes are the reason why I loved going to Valerie’s. the iced frappe was very watery and bland. If they have cut the size of the cakes so drastically I shall not be visiting again.

Went here for coffee and ordered some desserts as well. The coffee was good and also my strawberry gateau. My husband's cake (Selda) was not fresh. It was dry, as well as the cream on top of it and as you can see în the picture, the strawberry itself didn t looked fresh at all.

Afternoon tea for 2. Well looked after and attentive staff. Nice selection of sandwiches , scones and cakes,with top-ups of tea and coffee.

I love all their cakes and their hot chocolate is also very good. I have been here several times and tried their sandwiches at lunch . Would recommend to visit this place for nice coffee and dessert

I’d originally bought vouchers for Afternoon Tea, which were on promotion, with the intention of using them to celebrate my birthday in January, but circumstances prevented me from actually organising that event. So I’d put them to one side, forgetting all about them until a few weeks ago when I found them and thought they’d go to waste as they would expire on the 31st March. I asked via a private message on Twitter if I could redeem the voucher for just myself and they said that was fine. So over this month, as I had four of these vouchers to use up I paid four separate visits.

Finally a good coffee!! I think the best coffee in Reading centre! I tried the strawberry cake, it was delicious! Have to try this place: good, elegant and not too expensive.

We go here for afternoon break with my daughter all the time. Decided to write this now after all this time. I like going here for the tea and the cakes the staff are always polite helpful and attentive. in the current climate I salute you. the food i.e. the cakes yummy I do always find the coffee bitter and too strong but this is just personal taste.

We waited 15 minutes to order. 10 minutes later our drinks arrived. I asked for milk my tea which only appeared 15 minutes later with the third time of asking. We order 2 tarts 15 minutes after ordering the waitress informed me there was no citrone tart. She looked offend when I asked for the menu again, each time I made a choice I was told they didn’t have any! Positives coffee ok, bottled water cold and served with lemon, pot of tea replaced when milk finally arrived as first pot was cold by then! Will not be returning.

Someone where I don't mind visiting alone or with friends or family makes a lovely start to the day for breakfast or midmorning cakes

I was looking forward to my trip into Reading so I could indulge in my favourite savoury croissant and a nice cake. Following the recent financial problems I was pleased to see the cafe was still open.

Being quite picky about coffee, it's rare that I'll order some and have nothing but praise, but the standard has been consistently excellent here.

Popped in for a light lunch with friends. The cheese on toast with two large poached eggs with tomato chutney and salad was just enough and very nice. Large pot of tea with tea leaves rather than tea bags was a nice change. The staff were attentive and helpful. We are coming again to try out the afternoon tea very soon.

Horrible experience where I got shouted at because my fabulous phone provider 3 had a Wantu offer on. Manager did not seem to want to except the offer then shouted at me its takeaway only . Went over to the table that my wife was waiting for me to put sugar in the coffee before leaving only to be shouted at again to get out as it was takeaway only. Hideous horrible rude woman, avoid this place and go where the staff are lovely like M&S; or even Greggs

Had a lovely afternoon tea here with friends for her birthday. Great sandwiches and to die for cakes, we paid the extra and took home a cake each they were ginormous highly recommend.

Had the afternoon tea. Scones were really poor quality. Can get better shop bought ones. Sandwiches could have been better. Not value for money. Have had better afternoon tea for much cheaper (Did not use a deal/voucher) .

For a couple of years now I have been visiting Patisserie Valarie in Reading virtually on a daily basis - most days twice a day. I would struggle to find a store that has better customer service quite frankly, all the staff are fantastic! I could be having the worst morning or afternoon but I will always leave with a smile on my face! They are so welcoming and always have a smile. The product is great but the atmosphere and willingness to give a great customer experience is apparent! This why I keep coming back. I do find the customer service can sometimes be lacking in England but I can’t place the Reading store in this bracket - thank you so much you guys, you literally make my day! Thank you!!

We went to Valerie patisserie in Basingstoke today for afternoon tea which was a red letter day gift.

Wow! This is the place to go to for top quality service and food. I rang them up one Monday morning to inquire about having some muffins delivered to my daughters office in Reading as a celebration for her success at work. I spoke to Laura who was extremely helpful and by late morning my daughter had received her delicious muffins presented beautifully in boxes tied with ribbon and a card written on my behalf to say congratulations. As my daughters office is a short walk from Patisserie Valerie Laura said ,it was a free delivery...wow! Laura and the team at Patisserie Valerie made a special occasion very special indeed and I can not thank them enough.

The sign on the pavement advertised Cream Tea for Two at £7.95, and this is what we ordered. The waitress brought us two small scones each with cream, jam and butter as well as a pot of tea. When the bill came, we were surprised to see it was for £14.20, which was very expensive for what was provided. When we queried why we were not charged the advertised price, we were told this was only for one scone each, and as we had two scones each, we would have to pay the full price. We did not order two scones each, and were not told in advance that a much higher price applied if we were given a second scone. This looks like a deliberate deception by Patisserie Valerie, and we won't be going there again.
