Now don't get me wrong I have been to much nicer pubs in the past and given the same rating, however this is a typical local Lincolnshire pub, no heirs and graces, catering for dogs and farmers. Very limited menu but everyone really enjoyed their food, my steak was well cooked, proper home made chips, reminded me of my late mother in laws cooking.

Stopped for Sunday lunch today after seeing deal 2 x Sunday lunch & desert for £16 - lunch was ok, nothing more than it had to be...choice of pork or beef which consisted of 3 pre-sliced pieces of meat, 2 small 'roasties' which tasted like they had been deep fried, a spoon of mash, not home made small yorkie, frozen peas and the best of the meal for me.. fresh carrots and cauliflower which was cooked lovely, following that we were offered desert which was ..fruit strudel, Apple strudel or maybe Apple pie, the bar maid thought..?? Opted for fruit strudel which was a slice off one of them ones you get down asda, came with generous amount of ice cream though, hey ho we thought, it was after all a meal deal and did actually provide what ' was on the label..' imagine our disapointment when the barmaid then charged my partner £19, I asked why?? The board advertising clearly said £16.. the barmaid showed us a flyer saying the new price and saying meals had gone up and they hadn't changed board yet! I told her that was false advertising and I would be putting up a review on Ta, it wasn't her fault, she was clearly following instructions, we paid and left but won't go back or recommend, the decor was grubby, lighting poor, choice limited and food mediocre, we will go to places more transparent and honest with pricing in future!

Went for a Sunday lunch today at Turks Head it was a lovely "hot" meal and a choice of desserts too. There was an offer on 2 people 2courses = £16.00 well worth the price and trip. It had been a very good afternoon out for us 7 and had a good laugh too, I think the Landlord & his wife had a good afternoon with us as well, we will be eating there again very soon and would recommend it to anyone, only downfall was the décor but given time I m sure they will get it spruced up a.s.a.p. we wish them both well !!!

We visit Scarborough a couple of times a year and went for 2 nights over New year. We booked a meal in an Italian just a few yards away. We called in for a drink prior to our meal and then returned afterwards. It was very friendly with great service. Full as you would expect on a new years eve but comfortable. The greatest part was the music, anything you wanted or requested to the DJ or owner as he was. So much so we are going back this year. PS. WOULD LOVE THAT SCOOTER BEHIND THE BAR. ON MY BUCKET LIST.

We read reviews online the camping sounded a good standard place with a quaint country pub, upon arrival we we're deflated to find everything seemed to be the total opposite to what was described online!! The shower block was not in any working order, it was scruffy and looked more like a pig sty! First thing we tried was finding alternative accommodation but due to the bank hols we were stuck where we we're unfortunately. One positive thing did come out of all the searching for elsewhere, across the road is a gorgeous tranquil fishing lake and camp site who we're extremely generous and let us use the toilet block and showers on site free of charge. Next time we book to come away here we will be using Oham Lake, it's good to see helpful people do still exist!

We have eaten here last Easter when visiting the area, and the food was good with a fairly extensive menu. Sadly our visit this time was not brilliant which was a shame. The menu has been cut down, and even with limited choice some items were not available. There was no sign of any starters on the menu and even though we waited a while after the main course which was ok no offer of deserts so I guess they were off as well? Also I was disappointed that no ale was available any more, just John Smiths and standard larger. It’s a real shame the whole place feels like it is in decline and needs a revamp. The staff are friendly enough but the atmosphere is outdated and the food outdated and overpriced for the portion size, especially the kids meals. Hopefully this was just due to being out of season will try again in the future and hope for a revival.

Passed this pub so many times over the last 12 mths and kept saying we would try it, so finally had lunch there 26th Nov 17. Didnt think to book in advance but they were happy to accommodate 5 of us. We had the choice of roast beef or pork as no turkey left. 3 of us asked for both which was fine. The food was excellent, plated nicely and hot, the gravy was wonderful and came in gravy boats so plenty of it. We all enjoyed the meal. 3 of us had the apple crumble slice and custard/ice cream for dessert which they enjoyed. So to finish off it was well worth a visit, every one was friendly and we all enjoyed the meal and will be eating here again soon.

Our 1st meal was ok, 2nd awful. Sunday roast dinner - well the roast potatoes were hot! The beef and gravy were tepid. The vegetables were cold for two of us but the other 3 were ok. The plates were cold. When asked if everything was ok we said that the food was cold and the girl said that the only thing they could do for us was to put it in the microwave. The two members of the party with the cold food ate only the hot potatoes and warm beef. The waitress apologised. We ordered 2 deserts which were excellent. There were only a few people in the place eating so it wasn't because they were ultra busy. On cleanliness, it was only when I paid the bill that I noticed the sink behind the bar was filthy. There was a small sink sat on the bar. After we left someone asked us what the meal was like and we told them. They said that they only had a low food hygiene certificate. Never again. The garden area was untidy and the childrens toys were old.

We had the Steak & Kidney pie and Turks Burger. Both very nice and tasty. The Burger was I suspect, homemade and it was nicely presented. The chips are "proper"! Our second visit was Thursday Evening. We enjoyed 8oz Sirloins that were simply amazing. Melt in mouth and cooked to perfection together with their chips. Sadly there was no room for a dessert! While waiting, it was mentioned that the carrots were the delay - Huh?!When the food was served, we realised why the pub was so quiet!!!Instant mash, naff sausages, steak pie with no more than a spoonful of meat.To be fair, the carrots were quite nice and the powdered instant gravy had been well mixed with no lumps, but that was it.

We visited the Turks Head in Alford for a family evening meal. Upon arrival it was very quiet, as in nobody else but the staff. Even the chef was waiting around. We checked they were still serving food, luckily for us starving lot they were! The friendly barman/waiter sorted a table out for all 7 of us and we ordered a round of drinks (including two alcoholic ones) which came to a reasonable £14 approx. We scoured the menu for what we fancied, after we were told a couple of items were unavailable, no biggie as there was still plenty to choose from. Between us we ordered a mixture of burgers, curry, kids meals and a couple of sides. All of the food was cooked fresh, huge portions, so tasty! I had the curry which was lovely and creamy, packed full of chicken breast and served with fluffy rice cooked to perfection. A side order of chips was to accompany my curry and I am so glad I did! The chips were absolutely delicious, proper homemade chips - even though I was full I couldn't leave any. The pub deserved to be much busier and to be fair it did start to fill up, it is a hidden gem in the sleepy Alford village of Maltby-Le-Marsh in Lincolnshire. Definitely worth a find if you are staying nearby, get the Sat Nav on!

Went for a pub lunch at the Turks Head, the staff were very friendly and helpful, but there was several items unavailable from the menu. The setting was a little cramped and tables in need of a good scrub, not dirty but not exactly clean either, a typical pub setting from 10 to 20 years ago. The quality and quantity of the food was fine and very tasty. The pub could do with a shake up to bring it up to date whilst retaining it's charm.

We visited here one evening and I have to say it was well worth it, the pub has a lovely atmosphere which was created by it being full and hosted by a young gentle and a girl, they were both very polite and the girl kept checking to see if everything was okay which I believe is a nice touch as it showed that she was interested in what we thought, the pub was very clean and this was maintained throughout the night as after each table left, it was cleared, washed and reset by the girl (didn't catch her name) the food was so tasty and we were amazed with the portion size, would like to thank everyone who was involved in making it such a lovely evening

Recently went for some food in the Turks Head with some family, upon arrival (just after half 8 in the evening) we were a bit tight on ordering as they were just about to stop serving.. we were actually looking to eat at another local pub elsewhere but due to unforeseen circumstances the pub was shut, i must add that we were very pleased with this mishap and the food did not dissapoint in The Turks Head! We were seated and ordered drinks which the lady behind the bar actually forgot about (I think she was just about to finish and was in a rush home and was finishing other erons) not a big problem as they came eventually! My Pint of london pint tasted perfect although my dads girlfriend was a bit dissapointed with the house wine as it tasted a bit funky, my dad raised this with the landlord Russell, who may I add is spot on at making people feel welcome and he accomodated my dads partner and fetched her a fresh glass of better wine! We had all ordered Surf and Turf which came very swiftly although there was nobody seated for food just the regular woodwork drinking in the other side of the bar, food arrived very quickly! And we were impressed with what was presented, a huge portion of food! One slight issue is we ordered 3 medium rare and one rare steak, they were muddled up slightly and mine was overcooked and well done but nevertheless this didn't interfere or particularly bother any of us as we had enough HOMEMADE (awesome) chips and scampi to feed us twice over! I may add it was also nice to have both peas and salad served with our grill dishes + mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and onion rings.cracking landlord, nice traditional pub atmosphere, proper homemade food... will be back!

Went here for a meal when staying nearby. My partner had the steak pie which was frozen and bland. I had the lasagna which had sliced tomatoes!!! in between the pasta, no sauce, and some beef in the bottom with cheese on the top, never had lasagna like it before, felt a bit off all night. Visited here before and meal was nice but in my opinion it has gone down. Was talking to some people while there and they said the Sunday lunch is not as nice as it used to be. Maybe they have changed the chef. Don't think we will visit again.

We dropped in at the Turks Head again on Easter Saturday having booked earlier that day as its always, busy and yet again had a lovely meal. The menu is your typical English pub menu so you'll get fish and chips, gammon (Grandad's favourite), Steak (My husbands personal choice) etc but they do lovely salads and light bites and the usual starters, plus kids menu. Don't be put off by the typical pub menu as its served with flair, quality and service that was excellent as always. You need to book ahead if you want a specific time over the weekend as its always busy.Me and the mother in law (both trying to stick to weight watchers guidelines) had lovely salads, cooked salmon for me and Mother in law had ham salad (only slight shame was it was processed ham instead of home cooked ham which she was expecting). However salad was lovely baby leaf my favourite, not an ounce of that god dam awful iceberg to be seen anywhere. I asked for my hollandaise dressing on the side so I could only have the drizzle of my choice in line with WW as we all know how creamy holllandaise is (and was) and it came dutifully in a little pot so they listen to what you ask for. Salmon was beautifully cooked (steamed I reckon). Our only weight watchers down fall was that neither of us could resist trying a few of thier chips. You don't get Mccain rectangles here, you get hand cut ,home made, flufffy inside chips made from the perfect chip potatoe choice whatever it is they use i don't know as I forgot to again, they are so sweet they are too die for. Unfortuantely my 5 year old daughter couldn't manage all of hers so we had to help her out , shame... Husbands steak was perfectly cooked rare just how he likes it and we had extra onion rings which were soft and fluffy too although they were not home made in this case. Price wise- As we'd already been down chip pan alley in Skegness earlier that day (not my choice believe me) so we only had 2 starters, 4 adult mains and 1 children menu (5.00 includes drink and ice cream) and at least 1.5 round of drinks and it came in at £54. Which was very reasonable. They do take card. This pub is off the beaten track so you probably wouldn't go there normally but everytime we do a Skegness day trip from Grandma's and Grandad's in Sleaford for our little girl to play in the sand, we make the 1 hour detour to this specific pub on the way home (having found it a few years ago via Trip advsior I might hasten to add) and its a haven of lovely Englishness after the grim reality of Skegness sea front (trust me thats not my choice for a day out) but the detour is always worth it. We've had puddings etc in the past and they are just as excellent as the mains. We will continue to go back a couple of times a year after out Skeggy day trips for many years to come unless its changes hands, which it has done once in the last few years but the food and service is still the same. Kids - Last word I promise, large beer garden with huge 20 foot trampoline and climbing frame and swing. Trampoline has seen better days ie its lost is protective surround but as its 20 foot round you'd have to be working for the Health and Safety executive not to let your kids use it as its massive and good for 3 or 4 kids at a time.

We come and eat and drink here whilst staying opposite at the Grange Farmhouse. Always a lovely meal and very good value. 3 course lunch on a sunday for 7.95 is lovely and excellent value. Landlord is also very friendly and helpful. Will be back on our next fishing trip.

Visited this pub for my birthday, 25/10, while we were staying at the caravan site across the road, Oham, it is a nice cozy old fashion pub with comfy settees. There is a good choice of meals, my partner had the minted lamb shank which just fell off the bone. Both our meals were tasty and plentiful. The waitress who was taking orders, serving the meals and serving behind the bar was very friendly. They also do 2 for £10 meals at lunch time. Would certainly visit this pub again when we re visit the caravan site.

My husband and I vist this friendly pub when we vist the area to close down our caravan on a nearby caravan park, all the staff are Immensly friendly and the meals are tasty and very well priced.Sunday lunch gets extremly busy so a must to book, what I would say is that with it being very small pub the tables get crammed together and can be a little pushed up to the other diners which is why I must admit we wouldn't book again at the turks for a sunday lunch. Be nice if the Turks could have a few small theme evenings with the food (Greek, Italian Etc). Nice to mix with the locals who are very friendly and chatty. Also the bar staff on occasions get a little muddled with the bill at the bar when you go to pay so keep an eye on what you are purchasing especially If you eat in the restaurant and then stay for drinks in the bar

Three of us went for Sunday lunch and we found it to be extremely busy. We only managed to get a car parking space because someone was leaving as we arrived. We had booked earlier in the week and had told the bar staff we’d come for lunch when we ordered our first drink but we didn’t get to our table till nearly half an hour after our booking time - it turned out they'd forgotten about us!There was a choice of soup or garlic mushrooms for the starter - we all ordered the garlic mushrooms, however they were very oily and not very garlicky. The mains were better, two of us had the beef and one had the vegetarian choice which was cheese and broccoli bake. The choices for dessert were chocolate gateaux or strawberry cheesecake. Neither dessert was anything special. All in all the food was edible and the portion size was good, however there was nothing about the meal to make us consider rushing back for another one. On the plus side the staff were all very friendly, the atmosphere good and its one of only a few pubs in the area that allow dogs in the bar.

I was in two minds whether to post this review. We love the food at this place so much, we don't want it to be overrun so much that we can't get a table lol ! Anyway.... we first visited the Turks Head for Saturday tea. I had lasagne and hubby had home made fishcakes. Both were served with a large portion of excellent home made chips. The staff are extremely courteous (everyone is either 'Sir' or 'Madam') and they really can't do enough for you. If you arrive early for your meal, there is comfortable seating inside or a nice beer garden at the back which is great if you have kids and/or a dog. There's a trampoline and a climbing frame outside. We have had Sunday lunch there twice now and we believe that we will be putting in a standing booking. It is a MUST to book for Sunday lunch though... such good value for money and it's always very busy. It's £6.95 for three courses (yes - three !). First time wen went, the starter was either tomato soup (served with a roll and butter) or garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce. The main was either beef or turkey (the main comes with lots of very nicely cooked local veggies, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes and Yorkshire Pud. They serve the gravy to you separately and there's plenty. You can even 'max up' for an extra £2.00 and they double the portions for the main course, so even if you have a big appetite, you still get three courses for £8.95 !. Pudding was either lemon meringue pie or chocolate fudge cake. All were absolutely delicious. This Sunday we had a choice of french onion soup or garlic mushrooms for starter (we had the soup and it was absolutely delicious!). Main was lamb or pork, with peas, cabbage, carrots, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The pudding was blackcurrant cheesecake or chocolate gateau .... YUMM !! Can't say enough about this place ... Fantastic service, delicious food, wonderful staff ... Keep up the good work (just disappointed we won't make it this Sunday grrr !!!).

The service has declined since we last dined here. Little touches have disappeared. The wine is now plonked on the table and initial glass no longer poured. I had the lamb wellington, and was somewhat disappointed to receive 2 small cubes of meat. It was very nice though as was the rest of our meal.

Tucked away between the large venue's across from happy days club but if you do spot it well worth a visit, next door to a chippy. Run by working class folk with a friendly attitude and friendly prices. Our favourite is the Sunday carvery with generous portions and to top it all comes with a pudding included in the price. A good extensive menu at affordable prices for families and couples. Large table's, good seating but what make ginghams our favourite is the helpful friendly staff and atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

There seem to be bad reviews about this Costa but I like it very much.this time I was alone, usually I am with a friend.the barista pointed out to me that I had a complimentary drink on my app so I had a strawberry frappe entirely free and o nly had to pay for my cake.staff are friendly and the place is clean.

Have had the set Sunday lunch on several occasions. Quality of the meal has been fairly consistent. Today however, the experience was overshadowed by some very nasty custard! It sounds very picky, when the rest of the meal was fine, but watery, lumpy, tasteless powdered custard with the crumble, took the edge right off...
