Excellent food. Soup was just not to hot, just the right temperature with lovely tasty bread. Well presented. The turkey roast was lovely with plenty of veg bought out and extra gravy was bought out when requested. Christmas pudding Eaton mess, was different, very tasty and decorated with orange pieces Staff were helpful and polite Would recommend and would definitelygo again.

Great service and lunch 4 of our party were 90 minutes late due to the train strike the pub was amazing moved tables around and held our meal until everyone arrived Would highly recommend this pub the owner Graham went the extra mile to help us

Booked in for Sunday lunch with the extended family. The pub is absolutely lovely, we got such a warm welcome when we arrive. The staff were attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Most of the table chose the roast beef and we all agreed it was top class. Food and service was second to none. Will definitely be back

Terrible service started as soon as we walked in the door. The lady who greeted us pointed to our table whilst being preoccupied whilst picking up the phone. Had to ask for menus after 20 mins of being sat at the table so they had clearly forgotten we were there. Nobody checked in on us to see we were happy with our meal. Small bowl of veg to share amongst 5 adult Sunday roasts. Really disappointing service, we needed to get their attention if we needed anything (sauce, extra heavy). Don’t like the 12.5% service charge added on the bill. Shame as the decor was lovely so was the food but service was substandard. Very disappointing. Have eaten here in the past and had a much experience. Such a shame.

Lovely pub and location.lm afraid to say that the food was awful.we both had the beef and guineas pie,there was hardly anything below the sunken pie crust, one was full of gristle a cabbage leaf add colour ,a spoonful of mashed potatoes finished the plate of food. No I wouldn't eat there again. And certainly did not pay the £5 service charge . I would add that the service was excellent,and was impressed when the girl relaying the table dropped a fork and fetched a clean one .Disappointed. K.A.E .

Went in for lunch on Saturday. Dog friendly, so OK. Service welcoming and quick. Food was OK, but not great. Had coffee after meal, milk was curdled, sent back. Overall, food, drink, and the unexpected service charge, was, overpriced and not great. Such a shame, as pub used to have a good village pub reputation.

Family members visited from abroad, so we booked a table here. Great choice. Staff could not have been more pleasant and friendly. Plenty of choice on the menu and food was delivered to the table in a decent time after ordering. Steak was said to be delicious and cooked just as requested. Fish and chips were delicious too. Desserts were decent, with enough choice. Bakewell tart was a little underwhelming but the others chose different desserts which were all declared excellent. We will definitely return soon. Personally I prefer to decide upon the amount to tip, however it was stated on the bill that 12.5% had already been added. Given the lovely service, I would probably have given more.

What an amazing place. A real gem. JoJo and her team are on the ball, food is excellent, service is top notch and the actual pub itself is beautiful inside. We were made to feel so welcome on our visit. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be going back with friends and family. We had last diner here about two years ago. This visit was disappointing. The menu seemed much shorter than before; for instance, the range of skewered dishes, always one of the tempting choices, was down to one. We both had Beef and Guinness pie. This was not cubes of steak, as you would expect, but pulled beef. It was dry, and needed the separate serving of gravy to make it palatable. It only had a covering of pastry. I do three beef casserole dishes at home that are more tasty than this; I would expect something extra if I am paying for it. Even worse, the mashed potato appeared to be out of a packet! I had a Bakewell tart for pudding, but it might have been from a pack of 6 from Sainsbury's. I'm afraid the place is living off past glory.

Stopped here on way back from Oxford, quite a busy place mon a Friday evening, to say it’s well of the beaten track, but happy to get a seat, quite a lively atmosphere with friendly staff, I had the fish and chips, a large portion of fish with chunky chips peas and tartar sauce, my partner had the burger and chips off the children’s menu, which still managed to fill her up, a good large piece of burger in buns which looked as if they were chargrilled, and chunky chips too, the little one (7yrs old) had a pizza of the children’s menu too, which was quite large (9-10inch) for her but she nearly managed to finish it off. The quality of the menu looked good with a good selection of meals.

Lovely food in really quaint surroundings and really pleasant helpful staff. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. I did have one gripe though, parking was limited and if the inconsiderate drivers had parked a bit better, it would have saved a walk in the rain to the restaurant.

We have been going to Trigger Pond for many years and always loved it. It’s always been a little over priced but we don’t mind if the food, service, ambiance is worth it. Which it always has been. However had dinner with friends this weekend and was really disappointed. At one point there was only one menu to share between us and when we did get more, they were grubby. We found it very odd that there was no steak on the menu, not even as a special. The menu was quite limited. The food we had was ok, burger is always good, Lamb kofter was disappointing for the price but ok but the Pizza looked like it was a pre-made option from a supermarket and not freshly made as it stated on the menu. When it came to drinks I chose Whispering Angel but that was out of stock, then I asked for a Sauvignon Blanc only to be told when I had been given a glass that this was the last of it. Very disappointing in all and I was a little embarrassed as we booked with friends who came up from Kent to see us and we said we would take them to our favourite pub. Sorry Team Trigger Pond,

I remembered this Pub from when I was a child, some 50 years ago! We decided to find it and go for lunch (with our 2 dogs) on a visit to Bicester. The pond across the road was not as spectacular as I remember, but the pub was fantastic. Really warm welcome, fabulous food, generous portions and very reasonably priced. The staff were absolutely lovely and I could not have had a better trip down memory lane or lunch to go with it! ❤️

Gong down hill a lot since covid, still expensive so I expect quality but the quality is gone, I had the pizza that I have had many times before first it was brought out under cooked then even when cooked properly it was no where near as good as it was before ground beef not streak strips no heat, dry base much thicker than normal not even as good as a domino's.. Burger was ok again not as good as pre covid.. The wife had the pie when again was not as nice.. And the burger another time which she did not like. The staff are really friendly shame the food has gone down hill so much.. It was out go to stop while walking now in the area.. We have not bothered to visit for months as the last 2 visits were so bad

Recently arrived for a weekend and came across this lovely little place as was closest to where we were staying.We arrived to find the place was too busy to sit inside so opted for a table outside, the menu suggested they were hiring more staff so perhaps this was the reason for the following. We sat outside for twenty minutes waiting for our first drinks order and menus to arrive, regulars were in and were served before us despite us ordering st least 5 minutes beforehand, we then opted for the £65 sharing 16oz Steak and truffle chips with watercress salad, the steak was cooked perfectly and staff were friendly however the truffle oil used within the chips was overpowering and unfortunately ruined the taste of the rest of the meal, once served we asked for another round of drinks and another local table of four arrived, regular customers as was evident from the interaction between staff, we ordered this second round of drinks 10 minutes before they arrived and they were again served before us until the point I had to ask Millie one of the friendly waitresses if she could chase our drinks.We hate to complain and Millie suggested the service charge may be dropped, however we paid this as the staff were sat at the bar drinking and felt rather awkward to ask so didn't. The service charge is added regardless of numbers, we was only a couple so it is not for 6+ or standard. Unfortunately, not the best start to our weekend and dashes of lemonade are charged at £1.60 each also.

Lovely building nice atmosphere the staff were very helpful this was the first time my family had been out for a meal since lockdown and we were very disappointed with the food We had traditional Sunday lunch the meat was tough, the vegetables were raw (dont like soggy veg ! but these were not cooked !) no choices of potatoes just roast on you place these do not suit me, so upsetting as this was not a cheap meal would not recommend and wont be coming back

First time at the Trigger Pond as I was visiting family. A lovely pub very much concentrating on food.A warm welcome as we stepped through the door and shown to our table (the place was packed) our drinks order quickly arrived and probably the low point for me was the condition of my cask ale, not great as it had very little carbonation.We decided to share starters of a bread board and mini sausages which were both tasty and allowed the conversation to flow. A mixture of mains followed including fish and chips, chicken skewers and pizza. My skewers were tasty although I could have done without the sugar snaps as it also came with chips and salad. Comments from around the table on the fish and chips were very positive but I'm not sure the pizza went down as well.Sweets followed for those who could manage them and they all hit the spot.The service throughout was attentive, sometimes a little too much as we were constantly asked if we wanted more drinks even though we had just ordered them. Although lacking a little as we had to ask for plates to share our starters and extra cutlery for the main course. All in all a great evening out.

We spent an evening at the trigger pond during our trip to the Silverstone classic motorsport event. Our hotel was fully booked in the restaurant so we checked local restaurants and found the trigger pond. The owner was great and despite being busy managed to find us a table at very short notice. The food, atmosphere and service was all exceptional and all for a reasonable price.This restaurant is really worth a visit if you are in the area.Geoff & Sally
