The Travellers Rest in Cheshire East

Just visited here midweek and was really pleased with the welcome , the friendly manner and helpfulness of the staff and the totally tasty home cooked food ! Been out for many pub meals in the last few weeks and we do get fed up with oven chips and peas on offer with most mains ! Lovely to enjoy some fresh greens and fresh veg with tasty mash with our home cooked cottage pie and lambs liver and onions ! Special touches are really appreciated too and the extra custard on the delicious home made crumble made a perfect end to a lovely meal! Lovely to find our dogs were welcome too and the landlady even cooked up some tasty sausages for them at my request so they were happy fur babies too ! ! Thank you all so much for going that extra mile for us ! We will be back ! Highly recommended !

Had my 55th Birthday party here for 20+ people. The landlady arranged with me to prepare a buffet. Sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken drum sticks, sausage rolls, chips etc. All served piping hot, everyone commented to me how much like like the atmosphere within the pub. There is a extra large beer garden with children's slide and swings and lots of room for children to run around and play. Plenty of outside benches too, the view is amazing looking over the green fields , and one of the best places to watch the sun go down. I am lucky that this is my local and on my door step. Truly recommend this for a meal out or planning a event like I had. So Thanks to Mandy and the team for a memorable day.

One of my favourite places to go for Sunday lunch. Consistently good food - friendly and welcoming staff.

Been refurbished since we last visited. Beautifully done. Staff very friendly and welcoming AND the food ! Steak and ale pie AMAZING syrup pudding and custard DELICIOUS. Well worth a visit

I have visited this pub in the past and really enjoyed it. However on this occasion not so much. I had the garlic mushrooms for starters and the rump steak for main course. Whilst I quite enjoyed the food, the rump steak was strangely thin and small and tasted a little strange, I have been visiting the toilet all afternoon. Perhaps this was just a one-off, but my stomach is usually very tough.

Home made delicious food, especially the steak and ale pie. Staff are very nice and friendly.

Friendly staff and love the style and decor of the pub first time going went on a Wednesday for 5pm didn’t get food until 6:10pm food was good when we got it maybe went at the wrong time of day.

Varied menu plus fixed lunch club menu at reasonable cost all served in short time by friendly staff

Brilliant place to come for food everyone is friendly my second home often visit as I'm from the northeast Newcastle upon Tyne usually come on wed /Thurs with my Karaoke family

Rang ahead to see if we could park up for the night in our camper van as we had an event nearby. We were very much welcomed ☺️ Lovely little pub,nice food,lovely friendly staff and customers. Absolutely beautifully home cooked food. We had a party of 10 and every plate was piping hot and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend a visit to not only a lovely pub with beautiful garden views but super friendly staff who will cater to your needs impeccably.

We sat for nearly 15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted a drink. Then nearly an hour later they had not brought the food. So we decided to leave. Will not be going back.

Terrible the worst Sunday lunch ive ever ever had in my life!! tinned veg and the beef was off! i could see silver in the beef and it stank" My misses wanted to complain and i said leave it we will never come here again!!

Great place to go for entertainment and food, Wednesdays is Acoustic Night and Thursdays nights are Karaoke with a great host, Saturdays there is occasionally an artist. Very friendly place and great staff.

Drove up from Devon and arrived late due to traffic. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff let us stay in the car park overnight and found us some delicious lasagne and pie. Couldn’t rate them high enough!

There were eight in our party. Good choice on the menu. We all had great food and service. Would certainly recommend. A good variety of beers, spirits. Prices are very reasonable.

Great food and really accommodating.

Been here several times and never disappointed. Today we had booked into another pub nearby with our small walking group but were badly let down so came to the Travellers. We were greeted warmly and fed promptly. Fantastic value for money in cosy surroundings with lovely staff. Steak pie, chips and peas followed by sponge pud and custard for £11. We will certainly be back. Thanks to all concerned.

Popped in with our large dog for lunch, bar staff were very welcoming and made a big fuss of our dog, the landlady came across and sat with us for a few moments chatting about our dog breed and stroking her, which she totally loved, a family with two small children came over to say hello to our dog, the food arrived and was fantastic, hot and homeworker. A great friendly, local pub that welcomes none local people and serves great, reasonably priced meals.

This place is a quiet gem - I say quiet. It’s gets really really busy on themed nights ( karaoke / disco ) The food ? Gorgeous. You want home made chips , homemade pie , homemade crumble , in fact homemade everything. The chips are magnificent. The prices very reasonable. And the staff very friendly. A Great homely no frills pub.

Difficult to say much, just went there for a wake. Good service from staff, not much to say on food as only small buffet meal, but ok and well presented. Pub looks ok and possibly would return

Visited as a group of 3 I had the chilli which was like a microwave meal no flavour very disappointing We also had the steak and was probably the worst steak we have ever seen and was far from fresh and once again tasteless Wouldn’t rush back anytime soon

On ordering 1st round of drinks the person who served us must of been in a bad mood . Second time went up to get another round of drinks and order food , however got the drinks paid for them then got ignored when we asked to order food ! Wont go again .

We went in the day with our new born. The food was excellent, I had a home cooked pie and home cooked chips they were lush. The staff were very friendly I marked them as a 5 as they were on hand for us when needed. The atmosphere was very quiet as it was a day time. But this is what we wanted

Found this pub by chance after visiting Little Moreton hall The meals were first class. All meals were lovely and hot well portioned cook perfectly, affordable and delicious Staff were very friendly and helpful Will be visiting the area again just so we can dine here again. They also sell proper job pork scratchings !!!

Took a small group of walkers plus Labrador in for lunch today. Delicious home cooked food, served promptly by friendly and attentive staff. The landlady came out of the kitchen to discuss our friends gluten free requirements, he had a fantastic piece of braised steak. Some of us had two courses for £9.99. What great value! We will be back soon.

Stayed over last saturday night in our van. Food was lovely, staff very friendly. Beautiful setting would definitely recommend.

Basic pub food, (hot) thank goodness because the place was freezing cold, another couple of ladies commented on how cold the plce was. The service slow. No photos because nothing worth photographing. Sorry

I travel around in my campervan and called ahead to ask could I park in their car park overnight. I arrived around lunch time to see a pub full of folks enjoying meals and drinks. A warm welcome from the bar staff as I enjoyed a magnificent pint of Landlord. After a nice walk with doggo along the scenic nearby canal, we went for a snooze in the van. Around six doggo and I went back to the pub for dinner. I had probably the best steak and ale pie ever, and three pints of lovely real ales. The local lads in the corner were a laugh, the landlord was lovely and friendly. I think there was a music evening about to start before I left, but it was bedtime for me and doggo. I wish I had a pub like this near me. If only I could get that pie recipe..

Disappointed trip. Staff friendly and nice atmosphere. However food is shocking. Our order was overlooked so we had a lengthy wait. Food was obviously rushed. Hunters chicken was inedible, chips tasted dry and reheated. Hunters chicken was taken off the bill. Would not eat here again and can't recommend it. Maybe ok for a drink in the beer garden buts that's all. Birthday lunch ruined.

We found The Travellers Rest to have very friendly owners & staff when we visited & stayed over in our campervan. The food was lovely & home cooked. They have cask ales which my husband likes & a good selection of gins for me 😂They have a lovely beer garden & they are pet friendly. We will definitely go back again.

After booking for Sunday lunch, we arrived looking forward to a lovey dinner. This was not to be, frozen Yorkshire puddings a tablespoon of cabbage 7 pieces of carrots a small piece of cauliflower 4 small new potatoes and 1roast potato. The smallest piece of beef with a tiny 2nd piece. It was not nice, we shall not be going back sadly. We had to come home to have something to fill us up. Such very bad value for money?

Called in on the way past for Sunday lunch. Absolute rubbish. A few florets of frozen cauliflower, frozen yorkshire pudding, 4 tiny new potatoes, 2 tiny roast potatoes, thinly sliced carrots (at least they were cooked unlike the cauliflower), 2 small slices of pork and no apple sauce. I left there hungry and I'm a very small person with little appetite. Never again

Good tasty traditional food. Normal menu and specials board. Called in for week day lunch after visiting local historic property, so don't know how busy in evenings but well worth a visit and also outside seating if nice weather.

Absolutely lovely views in the beer garden definitely the best in Scholar Green. Friendly people, reasonable prices and Mandy the landlady is very welcoming. Definitely worth a visit. X

Spent the night in the car park in the campervan and were so glad I did! Food and drinks were excellent and very good value. Staff and regulars were welcoming and friendly, if you're in the area I cant recommend this little gem of a place enough!
