Staying the night as a stop over with my partner before holiday. Had a fabulous meal in the restaurant and was served by Helen! One word FANTASTIC and what a character. Has time for everyone and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will be back!

Went on Saturday 14th September for a meal with another couple. Table 33 And where greated by Helen ( Lady H ) who looked after us brilliantly. She was very attentive to my wife who is severely sight impaired and nothing was to much trouble. Two of us had the pork belly one salmon Wellington and one had chicken. All very well presented and cooked well. Would we go again? Of course we will it's our favourite eating place in the town.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Charlotte was very attentive and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was very reasonably priced and great tasting!

A good choice for Saturday lunch. Our group of eleven had a bright, attractive table and the welcome was warm and genuine. Service and food good. Would recommend.

Stayed two nights in the hotel. Super service from Helen, she is friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was excellent and a good breakfast in the morning. The room was clean and tidy if dated.

Such a shame , it has so much potential . The pub that is below the hotel is beautiful and the food is delicious . The staff were also super friendly ! Just the rooms that need work , very outdated and not looking very good. A lot of stains in the bathroom

I stayed at this lovely spot for two nights and didn’t want to leave. So quaint and beds very comfy. Staff were so helpful and kind. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Alderley. Can’t wait to go back. Also ate at the pub every day/ night. Great service, great food, and very nice atmosphere. Sarah was my favourite server. Chicken was top.

The rooms are clean. The rooms are dated. The bed is comfy. There are limited plug sockets within the room. The breakfast is really tasty!

Great stop over with food before flying from Manchester. We have stayed several times. The staff are all amazing and Helen who served us in the restaurant is extremely helpful and welcoming. Rooms are clean, bed comfortable and ideal for a relaxing night before a flight. Car park is free and food in restaurant lovely and reasonably priced. It is 7 ish miles from the airport in the morning and an easy route. We will be back

I called in here with my mum over a month ago and meant to write a review back then but here it is.We were greeted by a lovely lady when we entered ,so down to earth and very helpful,she made us feel at ease straight away.We had lunch ,which was delightful and great value for money but I think it was the staff that made this place memorable for us.The lady behind the bar was a credit to this establishment,whether she was just part of the hospitality team or the owner,( Blonde ,slim ,middle aged lady)she made our stay extremely enjoyable.We will definitely be back.

Great service, great food, but tired old rooms, simple stuff like power sockets next to the bed for charging completely absent. Missing a trick here de Trafford Arms. Despite this enjoyed my stay, on the door step of Alderley Edge Nationa Trust, perfect for early morning run.

The review refers only to the restaurant. We don't know the hotel. The pub's premises are attractive and sparkling clean, the waitresses are young and obviously somewhat inexperienced, but very friendly. So there is no criticism here. However, the food - and that's what matters in a restaurant - is a medium disaster: we had different dishes, all unseasoned and bland, nothing tasted right, the meat overall was dry and tough. The previous reviews regarding the food are incomprehensible against this background. It's a shame, the location can certainly do a lot more.

The de Trafford Arms is 15 mins from Manchester Airport, right on Alderley Edge high street. The rooms are comfortable and lack nothing. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is amazing with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. There’s no better place to start your holiday! And don’t forget to do the charity shops 😉

We had walked up to the Edge to view Manchester, it was a lovely sunny day so we stopped off here to sit and relax outside and have a drink after our decent. Really welcoming bar staff, clean tables and great atmosphere. Good selection of drinks and everyone was kind to my grandson. Never seen so many luxury cars passing on the road the pub overlooks, but seems to be a place where enthusiasts parade!

This is the second time we have visited and this was unintentional - we saw the place, thought it looked good and only realised we had been before when we recognised the car park. We were very pleased though, as we remembered it was good and the lovely Helen who had served us....and there she was, smiley and helpful just as before. This time we had 3 different meals from the weekly menu and they were unusual, all beautifully served on the plate and very good eating. Slightly expensive maybe ( average £16.99 a plate) but not much above the standard price found in most pubs now. Pleasant setting and well attended for a Monday lunchtime. Positives; The staff are excellent. Helen, Lucy and Stephen were all cheerful, helpful and efficient. They did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. Negatives; Room 1 was tired and dated, in need of total redecoration. The sockets over the desk are badly placed (this has been mentioned in previous reviews) The lift was not working. The window didn’t shut properly causing noise and a draught. It was impossible to close the door quietly, despite signs asking for consideration to be shown to other guests.

£100 fine for parking in car park when we went for a drink. None of the staff said anything didn’t see sign as was dark. Absolute disgrace

We were told by our hosts at the wizard’s thatch to eat here and were not disappointed at all. Lovely establishment, wide selection of wines, ales and spirits and a great choice of food. They catered for a wide variety of needs and tastes; the chef even accommodated my husband’s request for blue steak! I was more than happy as a non meat eater too! The staff were lovely too, especially Helen, who took the time to make us feel very welcome. Highly recommend to all.

Very nice venue. Rooms in need of refurbishing as very dated. Bathroom very dark and gloomy. Bar area lovely and all staff exceptional, work incredibly hard and a special shout out to Helen and Mike. Xmas Eve meal was delicious, however Xmas day very poor. Starters were lovely but the turkey main needed improvement and all 3 of us did not enjoy it. I do think it was probably a case of the kitchen was overstretched but undercooked Yorkshire, overcooked veg and unpleasant stuffing and pig in blanket let it down.

This spot is great for some lunch and the food was lovely for a reasonable price we were served by Helen who was really friendly

Overnight stay with work. Room was not fit for purpose. Storage heater was stuck on max when I arrived, receptionist come up and was able to turn it off, not turn it down. She was aghast at how hot the room was. It was ridiculous! Nice girl though, not her fault and she did explain that she had no other rooms available. Also, the carpet was wet and soggy at the bedside. Elec sockets in the room I had were unusable as they had been installed so low that you cannot plug in anything that has a moulded plug, as it doensn't fit! Had a terrible night sleep and didnt bother to stay for breakfast. Such a shame the accomodation lets this place down, as otherwise its very nice! Location in Alderley is perfect! Staff are lovely! Bar area is very nice!

Highly disappointing to say the least. My son was here for a visit from Cornwall where he is a chef. 3 Sunday lunches arrived and were lukewarm/cold. They were returned but reappeared microwaved not re plated. Son's pork was tough (I sampled it) and crackling you could have broken a tooth on. We returned all 3 plates almost untouched and were swiftly given a full refund including drinks. Staff attitude however was very condescending and dismissing. Would not return.

We had a great dinner hear while staying at Wizard's Thatch. Food was great and prices are low. We paid about as much for a full bottle of wine as we paid for a glass of wine in London. The pacing is slow but sure. It took us 2 hours to consume appetizers, mains, and receive and pay the bill. So it might not be a good choice if you are in a hurry. Otherwise, highly recommended!

Another great stay at the hotel. Great food and drinks as always. Many thanks to Helen who always makes welcome every time we come and stay/visit. Even though it was the Christmas light switch on 18/11/2023 all the staff was really pleasant and professional even thought it we manic. Hope you see you all again in a few weeks

Fabulous Food and Helen the waitress was just super, we had a very rare child free afternoon so decided to treat ourselves to some lunch and were not disappointed but Helen's friendly & fun manner made it even better! will definitely be returning! :)

What a nice place this is. We came here for a few drinks and made the most of the beer garden in the sun. We were served by Keira and Darren who were lovely and friendly. Drink orders were taken constantly at regular intervals around all the tables. It definitely made our evening and it’s nice to be back out again

Another fantastic night out with my husband. Just wanted to go out for the night and start with this place as it’s lovely and relaxed. Brilliant fast and efficient service from both Darren and Somerset. Looking like they had things under control despite being busy running in and out all night. Never disappointed by this place. Lovely first time back Felt very safe coming back for the first time since the pubs have open inside and the staff were wonderful. Freya, Hannah, gill, Darren and Caitlin did a great job.

We came here regular before lockdown and we’ve not been disappointed since returning. The staff are always happy, friendly and welcoming to every need. Caitlin and Hannah gave great service throughout our whole visit and we’ll definitely be coming back again over the weekend.

Outstanding Christmas Day dinner third year on the run. Even with all the changes to restrictions for Christmas (we received a quibble free refund for the places that we couldn’t use) it was amazing. The staff were exceptional. Helpful, kind and a pleasure to be around. Hannah was fantastic in coordinating our booking in the preceding months. We’ve booked for next year again.
