Quaint little pub from the front facade, opening out to a larger rear bar/eating area and oneards to the hotel section. Great tasting beer (and wine) and nice attentive, polite staff. Sunday is, as the reviews state. ''TIP TOP" I could be in danger of finding my new local...... 🤞🤞

We've always recommended the Red Cow, for food, to anyone that asks. But its getting harder to do this. I ordered Pork chop and potato boulangere recently, excited by some new items on the menu. My friend ordered the lamb chops. The potato's (see image) were just sliced, over-boiled potato in a tepid brown water. No butter, no onions, really hard to eat as they just broke up when touched with a fork. This isn't potato boulangere. The chop was ok, a bit over and accompanied with a fairly mid gravy and a reduced apple sauce, the sauce wasn't to my taste but thats fine. My friends lamb chops were a bit over but the accompanying potatoes, advertised as cooked in lamb fat were pretty bland with bits of cold lamb fat dotted around them, they didn't seem to have been cooked IN lamb fat or with much love, they were pretty tasteless. All in all the reality didnt really match the menu description, which is always disappointing. The food at the red cow isn't cheap for a gastro-pub type experience, and thats fine, but if you're going to charge these sorts of prices you need to get these details right. I really hope this was just a bad experience but there have been a couple of recent slips that didn't really used to happen at the red cow.

We visited the Red Cow for the first time since reopening. We were not disappointed. It was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, we all had different things off the menu and everyone thought it was great. The food is a high standard, not just pub grub. The decor is really nice they have done a fantastic job. Last but not least the service and staff were excellent. Tiny constructive feed back, the light in the back area is quite bright, but I understand that some people may like that, so just a personal preference.

My review, overall, is 4.5 stars, for what I had, a quick visit and a pint. I've been away for a couple of weeks, so not quite sure when it reopened after a fairly extensive refurbishment. A nice refresh of the outside and inside. Good to see three cask ales now on sale as well as a wide selection of other drinks. Food even more to the fore, apparently a restaurant upstairs too and the kitchen has been extended. Just looked and commendably my pint of Dizzy Blonde back just before the closure is the same price now. Looking forward to a longer visit and food soon.

I last reviewed the Red Cow restaurant at the beginning of 2022, when I also gave it an ‘average’ rating – and recently returned for the first time since then. I ordered the ‘Red Cow Burger’, on the menu for £18 and offered with ‘red onion jam, crispy streaky bacon, Emmental cheese, brioche and fries’. The patty tasted less like beef and more like liver – which was a surprise, although the menu description didn’t actually specify the ingredients; so I assumed that it would be beef. I then asked the server which meat was used in the patty, and they replied: “I think it’s beef”. I then told them that it tasted very much like liver to me, so they checked with the chef. After a few minutes, they returned, explaining that the chef was very sorry, but the mince is supplied by a butcher, who ‘sometimes’ adds liver to the mix. This seemed a bit vague. To my chagrin I continued to eat the burger, but wasn’t enjoying it, so gave up after I’d consumed over half of it. I was wondering what other mystery meats the butcher might have thrown-in to ‘enhance’ the flavour and binding properties of the mince (and possibly reduce the cost per weight)? What do you do in this situation? You’re hungry; other people in your party are enjoying their meal, and the menu didn’t specify that the patty included offal – so I felt that I couldn’t send it back and get something else (not that this option was offered by the apologetic server). Before my far from empty plate was cleared, I informed the person who originally took my order that I hadn’t enjoyed what I had eaten of the burger, due to it tasting like liver, and to please let the chef know. They returned, and repeated that the chef was very sorry, but that the mince is supplied by a butcher, who sometimes adds liver to the mix. I thought that at this stage they might offer a dessert, coffee or drink on the house – but they didn’t. The fries were good and the seeded brioche bun was decent, the latter being neither over-soft or too sweet. The servers were courteous, but in my opinion could be better trained in the ingredients of the menu and in customer service. £18 for a beef and liver (and who knows what else) burger and fries is a lot. I didn’t enjoy the experience. The Red Cow should have done better, and it’ll be more than a couple of years before I return there to eat.

Stopped in for an early dinner and had a lovely time, with delicious food, comfortable setting, and extremely friendly staff! We have been here a few times but this is the first time we have had food. It certainly won't be the last! 4 of us eating, we had 2 starters, 2 light mains, 2 normal mains, a side of fries and a side of chunky chips. The portions were all generous, and so we all left full and satisfied. The duck parfait was delicious! And huge! Really rich full flavours. The black pudding scotch egg was beautifully cooked, lovely runny yoke, but cooked egg white and cooked meat. Incrediblely flavoursome and so moreish! The ham, egg, and chips was surprising how big it was, definitely value for money. The ham was delicious, and the eggs cooked very well, both with runny yokes. The chips were cooked to perfection, nice and crisp with lovely fluffy insides, seasoned beautifully too. The steak ciabatta was excellent, really lovely sweetness from the onion jam that blended so well with the blue cheese sauce. The steak was cooked just under well done and had no chewiness to it was great, and the flavours were full on so really enjoyable food. The lamb shawama was full of flavour, and had lots of different vegetables on so was very fresh, with lovely spices. The fries and chunky chips were all delicious, really nicely cooked and well seasoned. All the food came to just under £65 which we felt was well worth it. Drinks wise we had the NZ sauvignon which was delicious, the neon sunset IPA which was really nice and refreshing, and the kids had two cokes. Highly recommend coming here, we will definitely be back!

Food was nice. Had the cow burger. Chips tasted great!. I ordered two bottles of edinger alcohol free beer and was shocked that they were £7.50 a bottle! They ate £1.50 each in tesco some there is some massive rip off going on here on the non alcoholic range. The alcoholic beers were only £5 in comparison. A cow burger and brownie with two bottles of edinger was £41! Shockingly expensive.

l am writing to express my dissatistaction with the recent experience I had at Red Cow. As a non-pork eater, I specifically ordered a dish from the menu that did not contain this meat. However, upon receiving my meal after a 30-minute wait, which I had already paid for in advance, I was dismayed to discover that it contained pork. While the dish appeared visually appealing, upon tasting it, I detected an unpleasant flavor that. It was pork!!! When I inquired with the waitress about the presence of pork in the dish, she was initially unaware and had to consult the kitchen staff. She later informed me that it was a "classic recipe." Furthermore, I was disappointed that no alternative options were immediately offered to accommodate my dietary restrictions. It was only after I inquired about pork-free options that I was begrudgingly offered a burger without bacon, which took an additional 20 minutes to prepare. Although the burger patty itself was tasty, as someone who dislikes caramelized onions, 1 was unable to enjoy half of the burger. What struck me the most was the lack of consideration for allergens, failure to disclose the full ingredients of the dish, absence of an apology, and the failure to offer a refund for the misrepresented meal. I cannot in good conscience recommend your establishment to others. It is my suggestion that you revisit your staff training on customer service and attentiveness to dietary needs.

Tried to book room for my wifes birthday over a month ago. Their website only accepts enquiries which I understand but I didn't seem to get an acknowledgement. I tried again yesterday, still nothing. Called to query and was advised the I was booked in and an email was sent which, it turns out, had gone into my 'junk' folder obviously not their fault. I commented its a good job I called I didn't want to be a 'no-show'. The young lady maintained I'd raised my voice (I didn't) which upset her and she promptly cancelled my booking. They would not accept an apology for any upset caused however inadvertent. This has ruined my wifes birthday plans as we had a wonderful family meal for 8 at Christmas and really wanted to go back. I have been to the Red Cow many times over the last 30 years but I think those times are over as I've never been made to feel so bad! I really hope they can afford to throw away regular custom.

The tribe had a couple of beef pies and chicken burger, table service which was pleasant and informative. In short food was outstanding all home made shawarma was on a long open home made flat bread, layered with toppings meat and greens with a dollop of mint and yogurt sauce. However the beef pie was unbelievable and massive, I had to help my wife finish hers. All home made, well presented flavoursome. Will be returning !!

The bar is well stocked, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent 👌 If you're visiting Nantwich and looking for somewhere to stay, or just eat and drink, I would recommend you have a look at the Red Cow.

We had a lovely dinner on Valentine's night. I so enjoyed my starter which was crab & lobster salad. We shall be back when the weather warms up.

Pulled over here to check directions and got yelled at by the person living upstairs about the car park being closed and they slammed the door before I could even answer. We did plan on coming for a drink on our way back through but didn't bother.
