Lovely mothers day meal. Limited choice but very nice amazing staff

Very poor service. The customer before me was totally ignored by the two members of staff. One getting drinks while the other stood chatting to her. After I got served and took my drinks back to our table my wife noticed her glass was not particularly clean. She cleaned it herself using a tissue, we finished most of our drinks then left.

Been before and never fails to impress

Rather fine full veggie breakfast less the beetroot hash (obvs) on a rather grey Sunday morning. Lovely interior and parts are dog friendly too!

Lovely roast dinner on Sunday. Lots of gravy and very hot . It was extremely busy, so we were rather neglected by our server, who said she didn't usually work Sundays, but never mind, it stopped us having puddings and coffee !

The food was delicious and the stuff very kind and warm welcome from all , we definitely recommend to go.

Visited for a roast and a burger. The burger was very bland. The roast potatoes were probably OK a couple of hours before but tough and chewy after hanging around, Yorkshire and parsnips the same. You can have lots of gravy though, if you like oily, salty, tasteless gravy. Turkey very nice, brocoli and carrot also. Service good.

Very disappointing. Went there for a evening meal Sunday for my birthday. Run out of roast beef, cauliflower, pigs in blankets. I had the last portion of belly pork, no crackling. Some roast potatoes were cold. All the vegetables were cold. The only good point was the Timothy Taylors Landlord was spot on. Will not be going back there. Pathetic.

Great pub, often take the dog. The bar (dog friendly area) is quite small so some can be challenging with the dog. But it's a regular jaunt we frequent!

Great food served by great staff, in a very pleasant atmosphere. Also, the cleanest toilets I've seen in any restaurant for a long time. I wish we lived closer.... 110% recommended.

We have been to the Travellers Rest a few times before and enjoyed it. However recently this was not our experience. We had booked and requested a table by a window if possible, the Manageress was not a friendly person and said she could not do this as she had a full restaurant. We were there at about 12.30 and they were not that busy so after being shown a table for 2 we asked again for a table for 2 by a window, she then showed us a very suitable one by a window and said that was all she had! We took it and settled down to our meal. The waitress was a charming young person and in time the meal arrived. But the chicken parmagiana was very dry and no tomato jus. My partner had the seabass which was presented with the fish skin side up not a good presentation. Also our plates were cold which meant that halfway through so was our meal. The dessert was very good as was the coffee. As we have recently got their App for offers we are now wondering if this was a good idea!

Excellent food served by excellent friendly and helpful staff. The roast beef was so tender and nice size portions. My husband had the ribeye steak and was cooked to perfection. The banoffee choux bun and sticky toffee pudding also were rather lovely!. One of our go to restaurants now. Always a warm welcome See you again soon

We visited here before the refurb a couple of years ago so I think this review should start fresh from my old one. They’ve really brightened the place up and modernised it, but kept some of the vintage charm such as low ceilings, the fireplace, doorframes etc. The food has drastically improved in my opinion since last time. Whilst I felt the garlic mushrooms were a little bland, the ribeye steak more than made up for it. One of the most melt in your mouth steaks I’ve ever had. Cooked rare to perfection. Good portion sizes. Service was good, waitresses were friendly and always happy to assist with any queries, further drinks orders. Top marks all round. Very happy.

Very disappointing a dryed up burger served up with skinny Mcain oven chips, £18.00 we will have to think if we want to come again, what a sham !!

Nothing was great. Service was terrible and very slow. We were sat in the corner and we basically got forgotten about we both ordered the singure burger. That contain no brisket so we had to complain about that. My wife ordered the chocolate brownie but it dry over cooked and burnt. When we got the bill nothing had been taken so we asked of they could take the brownie off the bill. The manger was so rude and put out by offering 10 percent off the bill.

Really disappointed by our meal here tonight. We've been before and had a fairly good experience, however, we had to complain twice about separate issues. Our brisket burgers contained almost no brisket and the brownie was tasteless and dry. Clearly very overcooked. The service was incredibly slow to the point where we felt forgotten. When we received the bill no money had been taken off and no appoligies made. I requested an arrangement as we weren't happy and was offered 10% off by a manager with an extremely rude attitude which quite frankly stunk. We certainly won't be returning in a hurry. A real shame as it was my husbands birthday meal.

Nice place to eat. Food tasty, good portions. Friendly and polite staff. Little disappointed, there is always something you can't get on the menu. Food did take quite a while to come out.

Really good food, seated us in bar area. Only weird part was they wanted to sell the two steak & venison pies before allowing us to order a chicken & mushroom one. Chicken parm was fantastic as was all the skewers/pies & sarnies!

So is just one step up from a Harvester but food in the whole is ok but not great. The staff however think that they are doing you a favour to serve you poor food and cold custard. When we complained we were told that it was ok because Alfie was a trainee and serving cold custard at full price was just a problem we should accept as he needed to learn. Not quite sure how much training it takes to heat custard but seems it is quite difficult. The outrage form the silly little girl behind the bar when we complained after the third lot of bad cold custard was hilarious. The manger did her best to sort things out but the attitude of the bar maid was so poor that nothing can really change the bad feeling we left with.

Very well presented and welcoming with good staff, excellent food and drinks and a excellent atmosphere...

Great pub lovely people nice place to go talk and chill and drink with friends and family.

The meals were not very good. Festive menu.... 1 tiny slice of turkey, burnt Yorkshire pudding, garlic potatoes which is not traditional for a turkey dinner so had to have chips, gravy boat spluttered with gravy all over the outside. Sea bass charred black skin so hardly any flesh remained. Scallop starters in cheese sauce so over microwaved to boiling point could not eat. When cooled down scallops like bullets.

The whole place was freezing cold so we kept our coats on. Some food was sent back for reheating!

Good service. Let my mum and wife have the Child's portion of the Christmas meal as they have small appetites. Both agreed the best Turkey and Christmas pudding they've ever had!

Lovely atmosphere, great service and food was delicious

Everything was great. Warm smiling welcome on arrival and shown to table. Drink order taken quickly and drinks arrived rapidly. No long wait for the food and both our meals were excellent. I don't think anything could be improved on yesterday's visit apart from maybe cooking the cauliflower cheese for a little bit longer.

Had a great time. The atmosphere, the staff and the food were excellent. The staff were very friendly, attentive and cheerful despite a busy restaurant.

We had a company dinner here, the staff were very accommodating and communicated very well when they needed to, all staff enjoyed the dinner too!

Went there for lunch with friends. We were given a secluded spot that was great. The service was excellent from the bar staff to the waitress serving the food. I had an excellent pork belly and a pavlova for pudding. You ready can't fault it

The service was excellent. The food was delicious, main course and dessert. They were almost full but the service didn’t suffer as a consequence.

I booked a table for dinner to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my husband and kids. Having had my birthday earlier this month I received the free bottle of prosecco which The Travellers Rest emailed me about which was great. The dinner was lovely and everything arrived at a good time. We ordered dessert and unfortunately this failed to arrive. After being told multiple times that it would be coming in a couple of minutes after nearly 30mins we didn't receive it and was told the order hadn't gone through. This was very disappointing especially as the children were looking forward to their puddings. The staff apologised but after being told it was coming to then be told half an hour later nothing had been prepared this was quite annoying as it was getting late and the kids were getting tired and cranky.

We had a great table in a "private" area - service was fantastic and food (we all had Sunday roast) was great, tender meat, fresh vegetables, extras as requested and big portions. Would thoroughly recommend Travellers' Rest.

I love this place. Staff are great. Food is smashing. And has a decent beer selection. Outdoor seating area is nice too.

We had a lovely meal with family,food was delicious including the chicken and vegetable penang curry,the staff were very attentive to our needs especially to our elderly parents which was very appreciated.Top Mark's to your team who clearly worked well together,I would have no hesitation in visiting your establishment again. We had a special meal for our parents for their 66th Wedding anniversary and Krystina and her team went above and beyond to make it special and even put up some banners for us. Such a lovely establishment and the food was amazing. Good variety on the menu and the Cocktails were lovely. Ella and Theo made sure we had everything we needed and made our elderly parents very happy. Will definately be returning.

We frequent the travellers rest in Edlesborough often, and love it in there. However on Monday 17th June we were in there and the staff were out of this world. Working so hard with a severe shortage of staff and yet were working above and beyond, despite running around like headless chickens! Fab staff, thank you, Jess, Lisa and Theo, plus the cooks! You were amazing. Love this pub!

What a lovely pub and the food is very good to a friendly family and dog lovers dream would recommend

We stopped here before a long journey to rest and refuel. It was a Thursday around 5pm and the restaurant was fully booked but there was space in the bar area where we could order food at the bar. This suited our needs. They had a fair number of options for gluten and dairy free which was great to see with staff on hand to ask questions. The food was tasty and good value. The place had a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Would recommend a visit.

Managed to get a table in the bar area without booking. Lovely meal, had the sea bass. Only downside, couple came in with 2 big dogs next to us which smelt really bad, not nice when you are eating. Think they should have sat outside as it was a lovely day. Could have complained, but a bit of an awkward situation.

The lady in charge is always friendly and welcomes me by name.

£20 for the roast beef where your portion is only 2 small slices of beef in unacceptable. It's a shame as the atmosphere and service on the whole is great as a new local find for us but the portion size and high price will stop us from returning.

Came for some quick food as haven’t been here for 10 years so thought I would have a quick see if the food was good. Friendly staff, nice furnishing. Food was okay I wouldn’t rush back. Chain pub you know what your getting.

Honestly, it was one of the best breakfast experiences we have had! I never caught the name of the lady who served us, but she was absolutely lovely, we were the first ones in for brunch, and it was such a nice quiet experience. Food was honestly soum of the best I've had and priced very, very well. I can tell this pub is run very well and the team is beyond professional. We will be planning to go once or twice a month now 💪🏻

Great ambience, and food choices

Too Expensive. For the food we had. Potatoes needed a bit more cooking & liked to have seen them a bit crunchier on the outside. . Broccoli also needed a bit more cooking it was hard instead of crunchie. I had thr Manngo Pavlova. Cost if £8.75. It was a large meringue all hard with a raspberry taste a little white chocolate and lots of cream on top and mango pieces on the plate. Definitely not worth the money. But presentation on all the food was nice, well it looked lovely but eating wise not so good. Slow Service, and one member of staff was a bit out of order, let's say a bit unnecessary. It wasn't any the young staff who served us they were very nice. Shame because it is a lovely looking and comfortable pub. Won't be going back for Sunday Lunch.

Attended on a Sunday afternoon, two adults and two children. Service was friendly and prompt. The pub was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the quality of the food, particularly the children’s meals. We had a roast dinner and the portions were generous.

My waitress is beautiful lady with beautiful soul called Jan who was fantastic helper and made ua feel really welcome as this was my first time there and I will be back again.
