Little gem with great atmosphere, service and cocktails. The barman, Sam, a personable and friendly young chap. was very knowledgeable about the history of the building. The bar is stocked with some good whiskeys and funky spirits; the cocktails are great value at £15 for 2 and were well made with flair. We will be back with friends to enjoy this great little place. We may even stay the night. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the attic room as a family group and it was brilliant. Two completely seperate bedrooms with a corridor in between. View of the castle, and very cosy, we loved hearing the wind blowing outside. Lots of teas/coffees and a really delicious rocky road! Breakfast was brilliant with lovely service from the ladies. We would happily stay again. Thank you

We stayed for one night and we regretted it! The room was in the attic space. We chose it because it’s the only one with a shower and it allegedly had views of the castle. The room had low ceilings, small windows, an electric shower and a ridiculously small TV that you can’t see from the bed. At 5’11’ my head was scraping the ceiling. I bumped my head into the eaves many times and couldn’t sit up in bed because of the eaves space. When we entered the room it was so cold we couldn’t take our coats off! Radiators were ice cold. I pointed this out to the chef who was manning reception. He told us the boiler had broken and he would call a plumber. We stayed away for the afternoon waiting for the heating to be fixed. The shower was weak and I had to duck to get under it. Being in the attic, with little insulation we can hear the wind blowing all night and when the radiators finally started working all you can hear is a ticking noise because of air in the system. We asked to talk to the owner on three separate occasions and left my mobile number with three members of staff. We wanted to give him feedback in person, but he didn’t call. I guess he can read about the shortfalls in his hotel in this review instead. We paid £140 for one night, it’s not worth half the price! The room is small, old and dated and the owner just doesn’t care. Stay somewhere else.

Staying at the Townhouse Arundel was our worst experience on our UK vacation. First of all, their lobby/bar area was under construction so we basically arrived to find a total mess as we entered. As breakfast is usually served in this area, we had no choice but to accept a breaksfast basket in our room for the following morning. The guy who checked us in (Sam) told us that he would be gone after 7pm but that we could reach someone on one of the two phone numbers provided on the back of our room door. As the evening progressed the room was colder and colder and there was no way for us to control the temperature. We tried several times calling both numbers, but nobody answered. We left a message on one of the numbers and the voice box was full on the other one. I also sent an email to the hotel. We eventually received a call back that evening from an ex-employee, and she wasn't very pleased that her number was still written on their room doors. She did say that she would call the owner for us, but nobody called us back after that. Needless to say, we barely slept in the cold room. Our email was answered the next day by Terry (owner?), but by that point it was obviously too late. I responded to Terry again, letting him know of our horrible experience, and asking for a full refund. He did not respond at all, even after I wrote a 2nd email when we returned home a couple of weeks later. If Terry is indeed the owner, or the manager, I am surprised at his lack of customer service and concern. If you are running a hotel, it is your obligation to have someone available in case of an emergency. Arundel is a lovely town and the castle is definitely worth the visit, but please do yourself a favour and stay someone else. This hotel clearly only cares about the their revenue, not their guests!

We stayed for two nights last week before the latest lockdown. The room was really nice and the view to the Castle was pleasant. The advise about the local restuarants was spot on and the people that own and run the place were great. Only complaints we had is that when we arrived the TV did not work and one of the two bedside lamps had a dead bulb, I went to reception straight away and reported it, was told it would be dealt with in the morning by the handy man, unfortunaely neither were dealt with so we had no TV for the two nights and had to swap bulbs around to get two to work bedside.

We were made to feel very welcome by the host who really understood the menu inside out. I thought the wine list had a good selection and offered good value for money. All three courses were amazing. My wife didn't go for a desert but was presented with a plate decorated with chocolate and fudge wishing her a happy birthday, which considering they only learned it was her birthday during the meal, was a really kind thing to do. It was my birthday so we decided to get the train to Arundel and just find a restaurant and have a meal. We had often spoken about going to the Town House but on the days we vistited, it was always the days the restaurant was closed. We were in luck this time and managed to walk in about a half an hour before last orders for lunch were taken. The welcome was warm and friendly and the menu and specials were explained (including the prices) which was very helpful. There were not too many diners which meant for a reasonably speedy service which was a real bonus in which is a busy town at the best of times. The food itself was excellent and we had no complaints whatsoever. Small squares of bread made at the restaurant were served with oil and balsamic while we waited for our meals.

I chose Rosemary for my friend, due to the view of the castle that would be revealed upon opening the curtains in the morning and Thyme for myself. The owner Lee patiently explained the procedure for a Tuesday night stay, basically upon arrival you call him and in the event, the arrangement worked very well. We will definitely be back. If I was judging this on the restaurant alone, it would be an unequivocal five stars. The food is ridiculously good and the service is second to none. As far as I understand it, this is a family owned and run business and each family member is incredibly strong in their area. Son Harry who does front of house is the absolute shining star - friendly, professional and super capable and I hear that his parents Lee and Katie are the chefs. It's not cheap but you do feel you have value for money because it's just soo good. The Lobster Mac n Cheese is a revelation and the Chateaubriand is worth travelling for. The environment is perfect as is the location overlooking Arundel Castle. We stayed over in the Bay room which is the suite above the restaurant. The room was lovely, beautifully decorated and perfectly comfortable. There were just a couple of issues that prevented me from giving five stars because this is meant to be a quide for other people and so it's important to mention any drawbacks as well as praise. The room, being above the restaurant, was pretty noisy all evening until service ended. We ate early but if you were spending the whole evening in the restaurant or elsewhere, it probably wouldn't affect you but if you like a quiet night in, it might. We also found that the tv was very small for the room (we sound really rock n roll, I know!) and the armchairs were modern and not in keeping with the beautiful decor of the room. One last small negative is that breakfast (which was really good) is served between 8.30 and 9.30 which is a little early for us on a Sunday. I thought this was because they had to be clear for lunch service but they don't open for lunch on Sunday so I'm not sure why this needs to be the case. All in all, we love the Town House and all who her sail in her and will most definitely continue to visit as out treat restaurant of choice.

The Town House staff are friendly, fun, extremely welcoming and on the staff is a great chef. Not a long menu but tempting, so difficult to choose what not to eat. Ingredients are appealing and cooked perfectly, it’s also ok to ask for tweaks to the dishes as the chef is cooking from fresh in the kitchen. The room we had was very clean and comfortable with an ‘Interior design’ look to the decor. For the party night they served 33 of us very well, efficient and cheerful, nobody left waiting and regularly checked on each table for drinks or anything we wanted. We are hoping to pop down from London again this year.

We stayed in The Town House on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package to visit the town and castle. Dinner was excellent; there is a relatively short fixed price menu, with a varied selection and crab and lobster options available for a supplement. All the dishes were well cooked and flavoursome and the cost was very reasonable, particularly considering the quality. The dining room is an elegant and intimate room with a ceiling from a sixteenth century Florentine palazzo, which added to the sense of occasion

The kindest thing you can say about this establishment is that it’s inconsistent . The owners rather haughty manner is imitated by the staff , you are never sure if the food will be ordinary or superb . It is all subjective but be prepared ! It can be up there or down there .

I have reviewed this restaurant before, but we went for our 20th wedding anniversary this week and had the most fabulous meal. We were looked after brilliantly and the food was delicious. This really is the best restaurant in Arundel.

We have eaten at The Town House on a number of occasions and liked it very much so decided to hold my 60th birthday celebration dinner there. We had exclusive use of the restaurant and had a party of 33 diners. The food was absolutely stunning, no idea how Lee (the chef and owner) manages to produce such amazing dishes in his tiny kitchen. We didn't need to pre-order - incredible bearing in mind how many of us there were. The service we received from the very charming Paul and Harry was the perfect mix of informality, friendliness and professionalism. Out in the kitchen was Anthony (Lee's very capable assistant). The administration was very efficiently done by Katie (Lee's wife). Some of our party stayed over at The TownHouse and were very happy with their rooms which they said were delightful.

I was recommended by a client in Toronto, Canada to visit here so I decided to take my wife for the weekend. What a great decision. Delightful accommodation in a great location. The food was so good we decided to eat there both nights. The lobster and crab dishes were top class. Every member of staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. Arundel itself is also a lovely, quaint place full of lovely shops, cafes and bars.

This simply is the finest food you will eat locally, every single thing was perfect from start to finish. It’s not often you can say that these days. We will certainly be returning very soon. Thank you.

Oh Wow!! Arrived almost at closing time with my girlfriend. The chap at the desk said he would have to ask if the chef was willing to stay on. He of course would have to stay on too. Much to our delight they agreed to though we felt a little guilty.

Great food, great selection. We dined here twice during our stay at arundel. The food and service was faultless, we had sea bream and hanger steak one night and warm goats cheese salad and pie one night. Nothing is too much bother for them (we wanted a slight amendment to the sea bream). The star of the show was the amazing pie 🥧. 5 star at reasonable prices

Stumbled across this great little cafe, which has apparently been here since the 1940s. Friendly service, nice food, large portions and reasonable prices. I had the double breakfast (pictured) They make most of the own puds too 👍

Excellent food and service. Know their regulars well. The coffee and breakfast are recommended, as are the wide variety of cakes.
