We called in for lunch and I chose the chicken tikka wrap and my friend chose an egg mayonnaise sandwich on brown bread. The chicken tikka wrap was tasteless and dry and the egg mayonnaise sandwich hardly had any filling and the bread was dry. For around £20 I would have expected something half decent. The staff were very pleasant and the cafe itself is very nice but shame about the food ,

Called in for breakfast today whilst attending a car show a the garden centre. Slow service but polite and friendly staff. Standard full English ordered and was acceptable but not great. Tea was of poor quality and quite insipid, definitely not a Yorkshire teabag! The cakes that were on offer looked really nice but it was too early for us to try them, maybe next time!

Paid £5 for the two tiniest lattes in the world. They were the size of an espresso. Not particularly good coffee either & it was lukewarm. We would have complained, but a coach party arrived & the queue extended into the retail area. Service was so slow we would have been waiting another hour. Really poor value for money. Wont be back.

There is a large café with a choice of seating areas either inside of outside. The café is self service and there is a choice of hot and cold food, with the some of the cold food and cakes being presented in a cold counter. The food is good and portions are hearty. The two drawbacks I find are that service is slow as coffee+tea are made to order and whilst you are waiting for these to be made the rest of the queue is growing whilst waiting to pay. There are also a number of blackboards with specials, jacket potato/sandwich fillings listed on them - it would be useful to have them listed on one board/menu in the same area.

I had an impromptu lunch here with my family after popping in during an unplanned outing. It was brilliant to find they have a new vegetarian/vegan menu and soya milk available which turned our whole day into one to be remembered for all the right reasons. We tried the vegan flatbread with sweet potato fries, it was delicious and a very generous portion for such a reasonable price. Fresh flatbread, oodles of red pepper hummus, veggies and avocado. The service was excellent, fast and friendly and the restaurant area itself is spacious, clean with plenty of comfy seats. We are now planning when to next return so we can sample the vegan platters!

One of the same group as Wilmslow garden centre and Brookside at Poynton this place has many of the same decor features and menus. Having said that it is no bad thing as standards are maintained with a good range of food menus and cakes / scones etc. Staff tend to be friendly and efficient, clearing tables very quickly. Seating outside as well as inside.

Food and service here are always fantastic during the week, not sure about weekends though. Plenty of room and the tables are cleared and cleaned very quickly once diners have left. Ask for a glass of tap water, as it is free! If you join the garden centre club, you get 2 free teas/coffees per month so if you go regularly it is a bargain, as you also earn points for each purchase, both in the garden centre and in the cafe, and these can be redeemed as money off a later bill at the garden centre till. The soup is always delicious, tastes home made, hope it is!!

We had pre-booked a table and were shown to it as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and our table had a christmas tablecloth, decorations and crackers. The waiter was very friendly, attentive and effeicient. As I am Lactose Intolerant I needed to check what I could eat from the offered menu and he dealt with this brilliantly. The food was excellent and nicely presented with the main course arriving piping hot. The restaurant was fairly full and there was a lovely christmassy atmosphere.

My baby and I visit the coffee shop every week and are always greeted by the friendly staff and excellent array of cakes and tea options. The chocolate muffins are especially good, as are the hot chocolates and cappuccinos (Illy coffee), and the pots of tea are lovely and large. This week we were well looked after by Karis and Richard- thank you. The coffee shop itself is nice and spacious and the tables are always clean. Would highly recommend this place. Apparently they do an excellent afternoon tea...maybe next week!

Called in for lunch and chose steak and vegetable pie, as the slice on display looked really good. The meal that turned up was a let-down; the pie crust was dry, there was plenty of filling but the sauce was glutinous, the chips and broccoli were also dry. The meal came without gravy, but this was provided on request. Date slice was tasty but also a bit dry.

We took a coach party from Alsager to High Legh, which was a first time visit for our group. Having been previously my wife and I were confident that it would be a super day out. The food was delicious and a wide range of hot and cold dishes savoured. Having spotted the desserts as they chose main courses, some folk decided to enjoy a little retail therapy between courses and others even shared as the portions were so plentiful. The staff were extremely helpful and patient in the eatery and when many took advantage of teas and coffees outside on the patio area before returning to the coach again nothing was too much trouble. Inside the restaurant and the outside seating areas showed that the standard of cleanliness was excellent and the atmosphere great, which included laughs at the enormous dinosaur!! Several boarded carrying purchases from a good range of retail outlets, all exclaiming what a super place it was. During the journey home it was said that this was the best outing in all our years of travelling about as a large group. Thanks to all at High Legh and especially to the supervisor for the day who couldn't have been more efficient and helpful!!

We have visited twice now whilst part of a coach tour. This is a much nicer stop than the services down the road!I always head straight for the coffee shop, it's a lovely place to sit, with good food and a hot cup of coffee or tea. Prices are very reasonable, they have a little deal with the coach company that gets us a hot breakfast bap and a cuppa for less than a fiver, can't go wrong. I had a sausage bap, my daughter a bacon one, and both were lovely. This coffee shop turns a trip to the garden centre into a great visit, young or old, to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. No need to wait until you're back in the garden, this place is great for an outing any time of year!Thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you.

We ordered turkey and stuffing on a bap which came with chips and salad garnish. The chips were the best thing, the turkey was nice and tender but had lots of gristle and fat on it. Not easy to deconstruct to remove it from the meat, (it should have been removed when carving!) even though I took off what I could see, there was still a lot on it which is very unpleasant and embarrassing to have to try and remove it once it is in your mouth! The cafe is quite roomy and nicely decorated, quick service, cutlery clean but very lightweight. There are boxes containing sauce, salad cream, mustard, etc available but salad dressing would have been a nice touch.

Take the Old Dears here regularly as they enjoy a wander round the gifts and plants too. Usually have toasties and shared bowl of chips. No complaints about the food, however, the coffee is never hot enough. The cakes and desserts look very tempting but not tasted any yet due to the toasties being so filling. I've been here a few times for their afternoon tea as its always been really, really nice! We went yesterday and I was a little bit sad that they seemed to have altered it slightly. You used to get four different sandwiches, one ham, one cheese, one tuna and one egg I think but now you get two ham and two cheese. I don't eat cheese so it was a bit disappointing. I also got a cherry scone which I don't like! It's not a complaint as everything was good quality and well presented and everything else was delicious as always. I'm more wondering if, now we know, these options could be changed if I asked next time? And there will be a next time as I do love the cafe!

While other reviewers have mentioned vouchers I was unfortunate enough to be in the position of paying full price. The food purchased included two toasted sandwiches, both of which cost £6+ and were as the title suggested, two rounds of bread which had been toasted and a filling. Each toasted sandwich was accompanied by salad leaves, a single tomato and some red onion. While they tasted nice, they did not warrant the price tag and I left feeling disappointed and out of pocket.

Visited Sunday 10th November. We were a party of 5 with ages ranging from 83 to 1. This was a birthday treat and a family get together. Having been before a while ago our experience was positive. What a change. We found a table which had not been cleared. I cleared the table and placed the tray on the counter I asked for a cloth to wipe the table. A gentlemen (supervisor/manager) thanked me but said a waitress will come and clean the table. A waitress did come eventually and wiped the crumbs off the table in to her hand and left. Lucky we had a baby with us and was able to use the baby wipes to clean the table which was really dirty. The queue at the counter for food was long despite plenty of staff behind the counter each person having there own job to do. Taking food orders making coffee taking payments this was badly organised. I purchased a cake from the self service counter ( eventually ) there were no tongues no plates and no napkins. I had to go to different parts to obtain these. Phew got cake. Ordered hot food, so far so good. then ordered a sandwich, egg mayonnaise, do you want bacon with that? No thank you just egg mayo, well it comes with bacon highlighting the sandwich menu which was above us. I pointed out that the sandwich was for an 83 year old lady who hasn't got a big appetite and just fancied egg mayonnaise, okay I'll ask them to take the bacon off. Now for the drinks, a pot of tea, two cappacinos and a hot chocolate, the lady at the till asked if she could take payment. I had to repeat my order to her to till it in and paid the bill. She asked me to move on so she could serve the next person. I asked do you bring the drinks over ? No, I expressed that I can't move away as I'm waiting for drinks. The drinks came and were just randomly place on the counter with other drinks that could have been anybody else's who were also waiting for drinks ( hence queue). I managed to get the drinks and source spoons and cutlery from another counter opposite and sit down. The food came nicely presented, I thought this looks good and worth the wait, unfortunately I was not expecting my food to be processed and the egg mayonnaise sandwich came with the bacon on. I couldn't take the bacon off as it was mixed in with the egg. The drinks were drunk by the time the food arrived and I couldn't bear to go through the process again to order more drinks. The majority of the food was wasted. We had looked forward to this and had travelled but a very disappointing experience. It reminded me of motorway services not a charming garden centre serving afternoon teas.

My wife and I visited the topiary restaurant looking forward to a good old fashioned Sunday lunch as we had walked through a few weeks earlier and the roast beef lunch looked really good. We travelled there especially to sample this.Unfortunately on the day ( Sunday May 19) they were selling a special which was a lunch with Turkey or ham - what no beef or lamb?? No came the reply, how disappointing. There was a limited choice left but certainly not Sunday lunch fare. So, I had cougeons ( rock hard) Luke warm chips and Tons of coloured tasteless lettuce to fill the plate ( forgot the name of it).My wife had tasteless salmon served with two small potatoes and tons of this awful lettuce again.Service was slow with staff just hanging around looking bored as the place had just opened that day, one of the staff didn't even know when lunch was being served!!!Absolutely disappointed won't rush to go back there.

Asked for afternoon tea priced at 6.75 per person and for that you get 4 finger sandwiches, a small triangle of Victoria sponge cake and a small square of fruit cake. You also get the usual scone with jam and fresh cream. The price includes either a coffee or tea. The offer is a good one when compared to other afternoon tea prices, even though the cakes are basic. The only issue is that on the advertised picture, the scones look bigger than they actually are and it shows your cream and jam are supposed to come in little seperate glasses, when in fact the food is pre prepared so the scones come out already with jam and cream on. I enjoy constructing my own scone the way I like it so felt a little cheated with the fact it's already done for you. Plus the amount of jam and cream put on is a bit pitiful.

This new improved Topiary at High Legh Garden Centre (in fact, in cannot and shouldn't be compared to the old one) is excellent. It's a coffee shop, not a restaurant, although it does serve one-course meals. It's really for a snack, and a coffee or pot of tea. But still very good. It's not cheap, but the quality of what they serve cannot be faulted. Staff are very friendly, although they can be on the slow side at times, as it's a self service buffet style of place, a queue can form quite quickly. But patience is the answer, it's not a place to visit if you are in a hurry. Spotlessly clean, and a very relaxing place. Would thoroughly recommend it.

When they re-opened the cafe, they issued 50% Discount vouchers for Afternoon Tea ( actually, it was a Two-fer the price of one !) Long-story-short, we visited on the last day of the Offer ie mid-afternoon, and the place was jam-packed ! As a self service cafeterior, most of the staff were behind the counter frantically replenishing the display cabinets. The Afternoon Tea trays were being brought from the kitchen for each individual order - everything was fresh, nothing was lying round curling in the heat ! In addition, several ladies were very busy clearing the vacated tables and it was they who earned my admiration ( and the 5 Star rating ). It was a manic end to a very busy period but their smiles said it all .... the venture had been a success. As for the Tea ? A pleasant selection of dainty sandwiches , cakes and scones -all beautifully fresh, even near the end of a hectic afternoon.

We both chose the Christmas Turkey Meal with all the trimmings at £8.99 (though those with larger appetites might prefer the 2 course with choice of mains and puds + free glass of wine at £13.99). I usually find turkey boring but this was succulent, tasty and plentiful, accompanied by excellent al dente vegetables + great roast potatoes and parsnips - all piping hot. I ordered scone with butter and jam, pot of tea for one and the mushroom soup and cheese sandwich combo. This came to £10.05. The scone was lovely, my cycling friend opposite had large bowl of soup served to him and a large chunk of bread. When mine arrived it was in a 50% smaller bowl and the cheese sandwich was two thin slices of bread with some grated cheese and nothing else. The soup was lovely but this was ridiculous and i cannot understand why i was paying so much more for so much less.

This coffee shop/cafe/restaurant has been much improved this summer by way of the major redevelopment of the entire Garden Centre, which resulted in the resiting of the cafe plus totally new redesign of it, including new furniture, counters, etc.It is now a very pleasant place to sit, and has an even more expanded Menu which includes a Breakfast menu, choices from just Soup & Roll through to Salads, hot meals, baked potatoes, sandwiches, and Paninis, etc. There are also many sweet treats to choose from including cakes, gateaux, and puddings. You can order your hot food at the counter after browsing through the menu and the "Specials" board and then after paying and finding a table, the staff will bring your hot meal to you. We have eaten here several times and everything we have ordered has been excellent, well cooked and hot (if applicable). The staff are helpful and quick to serve.Only criticism - possibly due to regular theft of same, the cutlery is not of the best kind, and the small milk jugs given with hot drinks are the kind which dribble all over the table however you pour!A good place to stop off for a drink or meal, whenever passing by on this busy road - although you have to pass through the shop, there is no obligation to buy anything else.

The staff were pleasant but useless and had difficulty getting our order right, in the end we just took what they gave us even though it wasn't quite right, as we had queued for so long. Coffee was weak and watery, and only cold milk was available. Even the supermarkets and service stations do better than this.
