Plenty of seats and parking nearby . An old Inn and one of the few places to eat when visiting the Lizard. The food selection is limited but nicely cooked and presented .The Lizard is a place to visit on a fine day. Its not nice on a wet day

Booked for Sunday lunch 5 days before. Arrived on time and placed our orders within 10 minutes, all chose the roast of the day.... we waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Nice selection of vegetables etc, could have been hotter though. Why bother taking bookings for specific times when you obviously cannot meet that demand? Also why keep taking orders from 'walk ins' whilst the kitchen is not meeting demand? Sadly, you let yourselves down today, it's nice to be busy ....but it's more important to serve your customers in a timely manner.

Really great pub food. I had the monkfish curry which was very good. Properly spiced, rather than simply loaded with chilli - the balance of heat to flavour demonstrated a chef that can cook. My wife and daughter had burgers ( one beef one chicken) and both reported them to be good. The chips were outstanding! Then for pud, I had an espresso panna cotta which was SCRUMMY. All in all great food at a fair price. Well done,!!!

Food took an hour to come. Asked for a 2nd round of drinks whilst waiting for food and they never arrived. The portions were minimal for the price. We also had to ask for the dog's chicken because that never arrived either. Very disappointed and won't return sadly even though the oub has a nice atmosphere. Too pricey and poor, slow service.

Despite saying they were a dog friendly pub when they took our money. They are definitely not a dog friendly pub. Average food. Steak was very disappointing.

I booked a table to treat my family to a special Sunday lunch. We were so disappointed. When we entered the bar area I was pointing out the area of the pub locally known as "Lifeboat corner" to my son as he had never been there before. The landlord who was serving another customer overheard our conversation and greeted us with " They are all booked!" We waited to be seated to our pre booked table( in lifeboat corner as it happens) . We ordered 3 x roast beef lunches and 1x pie of the day, which was steak and ale. We waited the best part of 45 minutes from time of order and we were so disappointed with our meals. The roast beef on all three meals was inedible, just fat, gristle and tough. We couldn't cut it let alone eat it. The rest of the meal was average, swimming in gravy and a creamy sauce on the leeks . My sons steak pie was tough and was served with a handful of chips and no seasonal veg as described on the menu. There was no staff readily available to complain to as a coach party came in and the attention went to the party. There did not seem enough staff to cope with the the normal amount of customers eating let alone a coach party. Eventually I got the attention of a waiter to ask for the bill, we hadn't had our lunch plates cleared or asked if we would like deserts at this point. It was then that I apologised for complaining but said that we could not eat the meat at all and explained why. The waiter was lovely and apologised, spoke to the landlord who took the price of one meal off the bill. We have previously used the Top House over the last couple of years and the chef was excellent, I have told him so on occasions. Unfortunately that chef is no longer at the Top House and some great members of staff do not seem to be there either, including a gent(I think called Steve) that used to be fantastic, Almost like a "front of house" deputy manager, he was brilliant and everything run smoothly. The menu this season is "run of the mill" , over priced and we will only use this pub for drinks now in the future. Other eateries such as The Regent, Coast, Wavecrest and Polpeor all in the village/point offer a much more interesting menu ,great quality and professionally presented and served. The landlord told us when paying that it can sometimes be hit and miss but generally good. It's not what I wanted to hear and I wouldn't book again. The entertainment a saxophone player( one of my favourite instruments to listen to) was uninspiring with huge gaps between tunes.

This was a painfully slow experience. We waited ages for the lunch to arrive. When we politely enquired about what was happening we were told that the pie takes much longer. We could have been told this at the start. We then orderd a pudding and waited ages. When we enquired again the waiter replied''sh~t! I forgot''. We couldn't believe our ears. He then took the pudding order to the kitchen and the landlady eventually brought it out- it was the wrong pudding! Again we waited for the right pudding which eventually arrived. Sadly it was not heated all the way through and cool in the middle. I'd had enough by then and just wanted to pay and go. It was a pity as we live nearby and often go out for Sunday lunch but are unlikely to return here.

Nice pub with a warm welcome, the decor was very traditional and cosy. Nice outside space, however it was a little chilly on the day we visited. A good pit stop after a walk around the peninsula.

A lovely quaint pub with plenty of seating and a welcoming feel. The menu is quite varied with a good range of daily specials too. Beer choice is quite good with several real/keg ales in addition to all the expected choices. Our food was delicious with good portion size. Service was friendly and helpful if somewhat slow. However, despite the very busy kitchen, food quality definitely didn't suffer. Prices are competitive. Booking ahead is pretty essential.

First night of our hols we decided to eat here given the good reviews - this must have been a bad time for them as our experience was similar to the poorer reviews on here. How bad this was is just shocking and we didn't stick around to sample the nice home made puds that so many have commented on. Staff were lovely to be fair - seemed confused and unorganised though - not a lot of waiting involved either but food was novice standard, if you are paying £22 for an 8oz steak its not too unfair to expect an overall impressive plate of food. Meat was indeed good (after sending it back to be cooked some more but I accept this is very much personal taste ) - the side salad looked plentiful but was clearly old, was limp and tasted warm - definitely not freshly prepared with far too much vinegary dressing - chips were cold with the thicker ones not cooked through properly - small jug addition of overseasoned pepper sauce. As a family of four, I knew the prices having studied the menu beforehand but £94 lighter and being served what we had was quite unpleasant. The website is impressive & very enticing but I feel a lot more effort required in making the food as good as what the website suggests...Lower standard to that of the high street chains but at 3 times the price. Maybe a bit hit n miss but too expensive to take that chance and try again....

We popped in on a Friday night without booking , staff were very friendly and we were served quickly , I had crab linguini which was off the specials board , the other 3 had kids meals which were plentiful , we all had sweets which again were nice , slight gripe was disabled access wasn’t the best through the back with a gate that opens the wrong way . Very nice pub though and would go back if in lizard .

Seafood is bound to be the speciality of the Southernmost foodie inn in mainland Britain & The Top House Inn does not disappoint. The seafood depends on the catch of the day - always a good sign. Excellent subtle use of fresh herbs to compliment the seafoods, cooked perfectly & presented well. All the staff ate friendly & helpful & food arrives hot outside even on a blustery day. Options for veggies for starters & mains. Plenty of non-alcoholic drinks to match the food as well as a range of local beers & ciders & a well chosen looking wine list completes the meal.

We were on holiday and ended up eating here 3 times. We had our dog who typically was nervous in eating places so we never bothered eating out, we were given a table in the corner and asked for the same one every time which they obliged as she was settled, it helped that the staff were all so helpful and the food was so nice, would highly recommend the Pityme Inn and we will visit again, it made our holiday
