Quite atmospheric, especially compared to the beautiful palace. Very noisy. Quite a wide choice. I had a sandwich with pesto, tomato and arugula and it was tasty. Beer from Meantime Brewery is tasty but very expensive! Just as expensive as my sandwich...

Bring a picnic to Hampton Court (or just over the road are loads of good eateries)! Light lunch area was total chaos. Sandwiches were £8.50 and came with no garnish, no crisps... nothing. Customers aren't given a number for their order, so when food came out nobody knew whose was whose. You wait next to the door to outside and block staff trying to get in and out from behind the counter. I was as hungry after my measly panini as I was before it. The hot food area is about £16 per dish and I can't imagine the portions are generous. The whole place as nothing to absorb noise so it is horrendous on the ears. Will never come back here and recommend others not to waste their money.

This place should face inspection from food safety. The cutlery & the plates that we placed at the food counter all had remnants of previous food in them. The manager should face formal investigation of how it’s this bad. If anyone falls ill due to food poisoning the same manager & staff should face consequences. The staff are complacent because of captive market. I think it will be a wake up call when this negligence becomes a criminal liability - which it will if this keeps on going.

Bring a picnic! Lovely location, that's about it for good points. Not much choice of "hot" food, only 2 options each for adults and children, food sitting out buffet style rather than being ordered, asked for a plain burger and was told no! The chef would not even consider leaving out the sauce and salad for me and my children. We are all autistic and each have different food aversions, even after explaining this the answer was still no. What about those with Allergies?! so we had to make do with a plate of chips (very small portion) Need to learn to be inclusive, the server did try a few times but the chef was the problem. Very very disappointed, this cafe let's Hampton Court Palace down unfortunately. I should've read reviews thoroughly beforehand, my advice is take a picnic or eat elsewhere before or after your visit.

I have to say, when I first reviewed this place, it was HORRENDOUS, staff in tears due to just utter chaos, drinks coming out that didnt seem to be for anyone but crowds waiting, but now things seem to be better, although I came this time at a quiet time. The savoury food in the coffee bar still looks bad. One couple walked over took one look at these "rolls" and commented "they just have horrendous rolls" and walked away. I just don't get it? Why sell overpriced rubbish when you can see it's rubbish so people won't buy it?! It makes no business sense. But queues were not too bad and coffees etc are OK. Cakes look better than a year ago.

Expected a wait as busy with nice weather and garden open day. What I didn't expect was to get made to queue twice because the lady switched tills ,so after waiting some time I moved across but she was no help at all in getting me to front of line where I had been. She then didn't give 25p off for using reusable cup, and at £3.70 the mocha was watery, practically flavorless certainly without any chocolate tones. Also meant to be able to add a hazelnut shot for 50p but that wasn't added. No recipt printed. It's £6 a slice of cake, near £8 for soup, near £19 for meat meals. Tables were clean.

The manager of this cafe must be proud of providing the worst service in any cafe for miles around, since this has been the case for many years. 20 minute wait for a coffee today. Food is unappetising and overpriced. This cafe needs more coffee machines and more people to make hot drinks. A greatly increased selection of cakes would be easier to serve and please customers. The whole thing needs redesigning and managing by someone who knows how to run a customer facing business.

The Service staff at the cold food were lovely and trying their best but (what I am guessing was) the manager spent most of the time swanning around in a suit not doing much and when he did go behind the till the way in which he spoke to his staff (mostly very young) was not very friendly and was happy to give them more tasks to complete but did none himself. Having bought cold drinks for the kids in the main food area, which is badly laid out and disorganised, I then decided to get a proper coffee (i.e. not from an instant machine) at the smaller refreshment counter- bad idea: terrible service- had to wait 10 minutes in what was only a relatively small queue- one of the girls serving didn’t seem able to operate the till and spent ages serving one customer with all the other staff crowding round her. When I got to the till she tried to serve the person behind me first. All seemed very chaotic and even though I had to put my tub of mint ice- cream back in the freezer once to stop it melting while I was waiting, the second tub was still half- defrosted and too soft. Waste of £3.20. She then poured skimmed milk in my coffee, which is far too weak for Americano. By that time I’d lost the will to complain any further. I’d give this place a miss at weekends, unless you relish chaotic and badly laid out cafes, and go to the cafes in the main Palace building instead. I imagine Henry VIII wouldn’t have tolerated service like this….

We struggled to find the cafe as the signage was poor! It is a good walk from the palace itself which did not bother us but may be a problem to some people. It is actually on the way out, through the Wilderness Garden. We only had a hot drink each and sat outside in the sunshine to enjoy them. It was a welcome sit down in a pleasant area surrounded by high hedges and gardens.

Unbelievably expensive! Little choice and nothing for those with food allergies or dietary choices. I appreciate that choices need to be limited due to Covid but there seemed to be no thought put I to the options on offer. At £10 for a tuna baguette, even at London prices, is a bit of a stretch!

The tiltyard was created by Henry VIII as a location for jousting, which is today celebrated by a new wicker scupture in a trail that takes children and other inquisitive visitors around the gardens. The restuarant is having to deal with the difficulties of the current health crisis and - well done- it does it very well, serving snacks, pastries and drinks for visitors to eat outside. We had warmed bacon baps - the first bacon sandwiches we have had for months -, along with crisps and soft drinks. The outdoor area was closed as the tables are tightly spaced, but we easily found a seat in the adjacent garden, as did others, and enjoyed our snack lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful. Hopefully as restrictions ease, they will be able to return to 'normal', but well done for what they have done in the current circumstances. And, as a Member of HRP, I still obtain a discount - yippee!!

Visited with a friend for lunch and afternoon tea; smart, large, light restaurant overlooking beautifully maintained gardens; divided into several sections making it cosy; modern furniture and some soft settees and armchairs with blankets = nice touch and welcomed on a dull, drizzly day; good food and drink selections in 3 areas; only a few choices of hot lunches and very expensive; staff polite and friendly;

The coffee was very poor from a automatic machine. £3.70 for a pain au chocolat is ridiculous. It’s a shame the location is lovely it’s nice and clean and the staff were good.

I always judge a place on how well it can cope with my allergies. The service I received here was dreadful. The staff had no interest in finding out whether items of food contained gluten or dairy. I had to persist to get any information. I was able to have the soup and gf bread, which turned out to be half a bowl plus two minute slices of bread. I would have had salad but no one could tell me what was in it. We spent just under £20 for two light lunches and some coffee and left hungry. Do visit the amazing palace but take a packed lunch.
