Absolutely brilliant, the food was excellent, miso cod beautiful and the sauce to die for, best chilli con carne. Service excellent.

It was my second visit to this pub for dinner, this time for my birthday so we had young children with us. The kids meals for £5 were incredible in size and quality. My son who always has dessert after dinner was so full that he didn’t even ask for one. My daughter had a cheeseburger with no cheese (apologies) and said it was delicious! The two steaks on the deal were full of flavour and so soft to chew. I will definitely be returning. Thank you!

We came for steak night. We weren't disappointed. My husband had a 16oz steak. It was HUGE. I had 8oz steak beautifully cooked so big I needed a doggy bag ,Amazing chips definitely recommended no photos as we were too eager to fill our faces 😂

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our visit. We came to celebrate two birthdays, and we won't be returning. The staff were not welcoming and I have to say rude. We had to wait ages for our order to be taken and even longer for the food to arrive. Food was terrible quality, the steak wasn't edible. The garlic bread tasted frozen and the desert had clearly been frozen for some time and was old. We then had to again ask for the desert menu whilst the staff stood talking at the bar. The table wasn't cleared and we were never asked how our meal was. We didn't feel welcome at all. Over all cleanliness was poor and the toilet was filthy. (I walked in and out and waited to get home!) It wasn't even busy, only 4 tables in. Really disappointed and I'd not recommend at all.

Me and my wife booked a table for Saturday lunchtime as we were going to be in the area visiting the Ecclesbourne Railway later in the day. Although we booked, we quickly realised we didn’t need to as we were the only ones dining until another couple arrived. The restaurant was bright and airy if a little cold and ‘clinical’ feeling. It would have been warmer out on the decking. Our waiter, I presume was the landlady and she was very efficient and friendly towards us. The food was lovely. My wife had the cod and it was plentiful, tasty and served with a large portion of rice. I had the ultimate tiger steak sandwich. Slightly underwhelming but fine. The homemade chips were delicious however. Two drinks and two meals the bill was £39 which is reasonable. The bar area and foyer to the toilets were messy and the toilets themselves very old but I get the impression finances are tight here so investment must be difficult. It served a purpose and I wish them well.

We booked for 11 of us to eat here last Sunday to celebrate my daughter's seventh birthday after being impressed with the food, and value for money, around two years ago. Not many pubs or restaurants offer a high quality of food for adults and 'plain' options for children (that's not an insult, that's what children want!). It’s normally one or the other for both. Fewer still, are as good so long after the first visit. But all those that had the Sunday roast agreed it was excellent and a few of us took advantage of being able to order more than one meat! A nice extra. The others were able to order from the large everyday menu. Again, not many venues allow this. What impressed me most, though, was the level of service and particularly from Olivia (Liv). Forget her age, Liv’s handling of a potentially tricky group (latecomers, highchairs, birthday cake) as well as the rest of a busy pub, would embarrass hosts twice her age. She ran the show. Nothing was too much trouble. She was polite but kept the pace up too. It’s rare to see someone take so much pride in their work. Needless to say, my daughter cleared her plate. The parking at the pub is ample and the view amazing – visit on a warmer day and utilise the balcony. We’re now planning a trip back to sample one of the 200 pies on pie night. Thank you again.

Excellent meal at The Tiger tonight. Food was superb, big portion sizes & a great pint. Very attentive and caring service. It never disappoints.

Had a booking at another pub for a family get together for 25 and let down at the last minute. Phoned the Tiger and was told they would accommodate despite already being very busy. Somehow they managed to fit us in and looked after us brilliantly. The food was fantastic, the staff accommodating and patient and the whole experience fantastic, despite as I have said them being very very busy, for reasons that were apparent. Couldn’t praise them enough for what they did

Great impromptu visit Looking for somewhere local to where we staying for an afternoon meal and keen to avoid chain establishments we thought we would give this place a go. Pies were delicious, variant to menu done with no fuss, everyone enjoyed their meal. Service at the bar and table friendly and welcoming , would recommend

Fabulous family night out, sixteen of us went for pie night (booked in advance) a couple of very fussy eaters, a coeliac, a veggie included in our party - no problem all easily accommodated without any of the eye rolls or huffs that we have often experienced and we didn't have to pre order either. Fabulous pies, homemade chips and a selection of veg, served family style and great puddings, again accommodating of our dietary requirements without a quibble It's very good fresh home cooked pub food at a very good price and this is why we keep going back.

We had pre booked and told staff when booking that we had 4 dogs with us. We arrived and were told dogs were not allowed in the restaurant only the pub. Why wasn’t this alerted to us upon booking? Staff also ignored us when we stood in the doorway so we just decided to sit down. It took another 20 mins for someone to come and take our orders. Starters took 25 mins to come out. The stilton pie for main was not nice. How is stilton made to taste sweet??? Anyway we didn’t leave a tip and there was 11 of us in total so that is a shame. We would not return sadly.

Sunday lunch...this is the only place we go now and irmts value for money, hot, fresh produce. The bar is very clean and the staff are very friendly. We have even booked fir boxing day as we know we won't get anything better.

I can't fault the food. There was plenty, and it was well cooked. My husband was very impressed with his pie. The service wasn't so good. Didn't inquire if our meal was ok, didn't ask if we'd like a dessert. The staff were friendly, but need more training in customer service. They also tried to charge us for a drink we'd already paid for, and added on the price of a drink we'd not had. Check your bill before you pay.

Beautiful food - a lovely selection of pies for Pie Night. Such a friendly waitor - and chef - too, but very disappointing to be called the day before our 5pm booking to be told we'd have to leave by 6.20pm for another booking at 6.30pm! On the day, we were all keen to order desert and it left us with a sour taste, so to speak, to be rushed out in such a manner. Very odd.

Mix of positives and negatives. We liked the service - pleasant and welcoming and they made a real effort under what seemed to be a deal of pressure as it was Saturday night and just two members of staff taking orders and serving food. The food was a mix of positives and negatives. The chips weren’t really chips - they were more like potato wedges and a bit on the soggy side. My scampi was fine but I selected salad to accompany it and you could literally fit the amount of salad in a tablespoon! Also accompanied by the thinnest lemon wedge which was so meagre it was impossible to squeeze. The beef pie wasn’t really a pie - it was a stew with a disc of pastry on top. However the beef stew inside was absolutely gorgeous and it was nice to have a bowl of mixed veg to share (made up for my lack of salad). Some nice properly fried, hot chips and decent sized accompaniments would have made a huge difference and would have barely cost any extra - it would have really made this a good value place to eat. The dining room was very pleasant, warm and sunny with a lovely view but the pub generally looks a little worse for wear around the edges. Ladies loos had run out of loo roll and one of them had a broken flush. Having said that, the service was very good and we would be willing to give this pub another go in the future.

Mixed review. Not welcoming, 20 minutes before anyone came to take the drinks order. One hour 5 minutes before the food arrived from ordering. No one came to check on whether the food was ok, 3 x asking for water for the table. The food was ok, when it arrived; no roast potatoes, vegetable selection limited. Such a shame as we really wanted to like it, really wanted to enjoy the fab surroundings. We won’t be going back… we don’t recommend.

Very enjoyable visit. There were 4 of us and we really liked our meals - 2 x burgers, gammon and pineapple and mushroom and stilton pie. Everything cooked to perfection. Just one of us had a dessert, salted caramel torte and again it was excellent. One very minor grumble in that it took a good 30 minutes for the mains to arrive when the pub wasn't busy. However we were in no hurry and the view over the countryside was stunning. Our waitress was very friendly. We aim to be back soon.

I feel like I genuinely don't want to leave a bad review, times are tough for pubs and restaurants. But that being said, in my opinion now is the time for all establishments to give their absolute all to ensure customers enjoy themselves, get good value for money and want to return. The Tiger was a big disappointment, the best feature is the view, but we were stuck in the corner of a dirty, unpleasant bar area with a view of empty, dirty glasses etc gradually growing on the side of the bar and never finding there way into a dishwasher. It was 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon, we had never been before and had visiting family with us, we really wanted a nice meal together, going out for a meal is now very rare for us, for affordability reasons. When we walked in I immediately had a bad vibe and regretted my decision to book, I had to ask for our order to be taken even though it was really quiet inside, just 2 other tables. I was excited about the menu, some different and interesting things to choose from. But we waited almost an hour for our food, there was nothing for the kids to do, no play equipment, no drawing or colouring they were really bored, thankfully we brought our own things to do for them. When the food came, my gosh I was disappointed! My son's meal was absolutely tiny, with really sad, unappetising-looking nuggets. My chilly looked like cat sick if I'm honest with the smallest portion of rice I've ever seen. The guacamole was from a dry store jar, not fresh it was all grey and sloppy. The sour cream was in a dirty dish, all running like pouring cream, no cheese- I was going to ask for some but when the bar lady came to ask if everything was ok she was walking away again before we had time to answer, clearly couldn't care less how are meal actually was. The chilly was sweet and not spicy at all, my husband's Burrito he said was the same, small, disappointing with under cooked fries. If we were not with family who were treating us I would have sent it all back, but I wanted to pretend to them it was all great so they didn't feel bad we had taken them to a place that was really poor and they were wasting money on a rubbish meal. Customer service was poor, really felt ignored and unwelcome, food was really below standard. There was incredibly loud music coming from the kitchen like they were enjoying a party rather than cooking our meals. I also must admit worryingly like some other reviewers my stomach was upset for 24 hours after eating the chilly, I am certain that was the cause. I am a professional chef myself so I do have a good understanding of what can upset someone physically after eating. Definitely will not return or recommend it. I think they are understaffed and they would benefit from a drastically reduced menu, so they can perfect a few basic items rather than overreaching as they are now. A clean-up of the bar area, reduced wait times for food, and a hygiene inspection.

I feel uncomfortable writing this as it may have just been an unfortunate night to go - but it was our celebration and a meal to remember for the wrong reasons, hope you can improve on staffing issues, undercooked food and cleanliness as these things matter for a good review. Even though the pricing is reasonable for standard pub food this was below standards in all areas .

Fab food and generous portions! They put the heating on for us too. Waiters were both friendly and attentive and professional with our large Sunday lunch party. Will definitely recommend the place, the food and the staff!

Popped in for Sunday lunch. We had not booked but they fitted us in. Would advise to book as it is very popular. My wife has roast beef and veg, good value for money. Good sized portion. I had a burger with bbq pulled pork and chips again tasted great and great value for money. Good pint of Pedigree. Will be back to try the pie evening.

Family were raving about this place, so we returned with them a few weeks later. My Husband’s mixed grill was overdone, apart from the gammon and the waitress announced that there was no sour cream for my Chile Con Carne. But she didn’t tell me that until she served it, instead of informing me, so I had an opportunity to pick another dish. I wish now that I had sent it back, because it would teach the management of this establishment that if they haven’t got a complete dish they can’t just go ahead and hope the patron will accept that. I wonder what they would have done if I’d refused to pay the full price? Anyway, we vote with our feet and the whole family won’t be returning.

Well it wasn’t after reading the review from Dec 2022 entitled “not impressed » that I decided to write my review. Having passed this establishment several times whilst traveling between Derby and Ashbourne we decided to give it a try for lunch. Our concern started with the continuing sound of pinging from a microwave in the kitchen. I had ordered the Chilli which came out lukewarm. We had not eaten elsewhere on the day so when at around 5 pm my stomach was hurting and I started to vomit violently! This plus severe diarrhoea lasted another 24 hours. My partner who had ordered an entirely different meal was fine. I would recommend do not order anything of the menu that doesn’t come piping hot. The chances of us returning? Nil.

Regular's at The Tiger. Visited as a couple for a meal, not busy only another couple in. Waited over 15mins for a drink no one around. Then ordered drinks but waited 20min,I went to bar twice but it was unattended. Finally bar staff said Ooops I forgot. Nice little pub with the great homemade grub. We had a table of 4 booked on Saturday afternoon, obviously wasn't too busy due to covid restrictions but we all felt looked after. Called in on the way back from a meal elsewhere. Pub nicely done inside and plenty of choice on the bar. Will suit those of a nervous disposition in regard to being Covid compliant! What really spoilt it though, was one of the locals effing and blinding about reversing his car in to something earlier that day, the cost of the repairs and wanting to commit suicide as a result. He was clearly good mates with the owners though, so it was pointless complaining! Nice pub and good beer, but will make sure I’m sat well away from the most depressing man in the world next time!

Two of us nipped in after hearing some good reviews . It was not very busy only another table but waitress said it gets very busy on a Thursday night because of the pie night {hundreds of different pies on the blackboard a fantastic choice ). We both enjoyed our meals i had the Chipotle chicken & i ordered a separate stilton sauce this was very nice & would definitely have it with a steak on our next visit .{ Tuesday night ... steak night }. My Husband had the pork meal & really enjoyed that it was served with peppers & onions & had a nice flavour. The inside was cottage like & we both thought it to be lovely ,would like to go when a little busier for the atmosphere but still enjoyed it.

Until our visit I never knew this place existed. We live on the outskirts of Derby, and ventured out to Turnditch after my husband had this place recommended. We did benefit from the government Eat Outcyo Help Out Scheme, but would have happily paid full price. We chose to visit on a Burger night and all enjoyed a delicious home-made burger. Food and service were excellent, and we will definitely return. Great little pub, plenty of parking, friendly staff and excellent food.

Went for an afternoon visit on a recommendation from a friend. Sat in the garden for a bit and enjoyed the views. Went inside for our food which was very good, including the lamb pie (be aware it is not really a pie it is a dish of lovely meat with a pastry lid) and the gammon.Staff very friendly. The only real blip was a local who really enjoyed the sound of his own voice, but that is not the pub's fault.Will return.

We were staying in The Carriage House less than a 5 minute walk from The Tiger Inn, I contacted them via email before we arrived and reserved a table everyday from Saturday to Thursday, they were very accommodating, on our first night I had Salmon Fillet and my husband had fish & chips, both were lovely, the chips are amazing, they have specials from Monday to Friday, Sunday is a roast day, I had roast beef which was amazing!! On bank holiday Monday we were joined by a family member and had yet another fabulous meal which included carrot soup to start, really thick & creamy, as I write this we have just had our 5th night there which on Wednesday is burger night, amazing choice and one of the best burgers I've had.We highly recommend The Tiger Inn, staff are friendly, the young couple who own it are lovely, the chefs are fantastic with the food they produce, Thursday night is their pie night and they have 150 on offer!! Please try this place it's a must

Went for a pre-ordered meal arrived on time and was kept waiting for 25 minutes in a large tent. Noticed that a table was vacated and no cleaning down undertaken. Was twice asked to go into the pub to order a drink with no waitress service in the tent. In the pub there was always a queue since there was only one person serving and social distancing was rarely observed. At no time was I required to leave contact details and the so-called one way system was regularly ignored by drinkers.The food was adequate but very small portions. My salad portion was pathetic with half a cherry tomato amid some green leaves.Very disappointing. Will not return.

Come for the food not the beer. Excellent food. Sweet tangy Vietnamese food, not too hot, very tasty. Limited choice of 3 average beers, (Director, Hobgoblin ruby, Marstons Pedigree). Robust covid procedures, well spaced tables. Kitchen fan a bit noisy in the rear raised decking, excellent views. Beer garden, marquee, or indoor dining. Friendly welcoming efficient staff. We will be back.

The food was good, the thought behing implementing all the new requirements was thorough and the team there were extremely welcoming, helpful and accomodating.The pub has obviously also done (and are still doing) a lot to support the local community during this challenging time so really important that they get support back.

Visited today with family, the food was lovely, however the service was shocking. Food came out at different times and we ordered 3 portions of onion rings which all came in one large bowl and then 3 burgers and 2 fish and chips which the chef put the chips all together and never told us. The “fish and chips” is classed as a meal and on the menu the burger specifically says “comes with chips and salad” however was not presented like this. The cutlery also came out after the food so we then had to wait to eat.The waiters did not clear the table after our first round of drinks and continued to bring out the glasses for our second round and left the first ones there.

Excellent pub supper tonight with excellent hygiene displayed. Clear one way system, spacious table layout, helpful and diligent staff serving VERY tasty food - well done and thank you! If we weren't just here for a few days we would definitely return again and again - pie night looks interesting with over 150 choices.Good luck to you in these uncertain times, you deserve to succeed and have restored our confidence in eating out - thank you again.

All the necessary protocols were in place when we visited the Tiger Inn yesterday. In the garden, all tables were booked to enjoy the live music and barbecue. From the audience’s point of view, you get to see the musician and behind the dais is the most amazing view of the Derbyshire countryside. The atmosphere was supportive and friendly and the landlord had obviously worked hard to welcome back customers. There were many cheerful, happy staff members taking orders and serving quickly. In spite of the wet weather, it was a great evening and we hope to return to appreciate more live music and that fantastic view.

Tastiest Roast dinner I’ve had in so long!!! Was nice to get out again and all the family enjoyed their meal. Massive portions... could have been a bit hotter but considering there only seemed to be one waitress for the whole restaurant that can be forgiven. She worked really hard! Will definitely be back!

Luckily a neighbour told us about The Tiger's delivery service - and even luckier he told us on Pie night! We ordered two steak & ale pies, chips and peas and they were delivered to our door amazingly quickly (ok, we only live a 10 minute drive away, but the service was fantastic). The meals were great: big portions, tender and tasty meat in the pies, really couldn't have asked for more; apparently there's a substantial menu that they are delivering too so will definitely do this again - good to support a local business, especially when the food and service are top notch.

Went to The Tiger to see whether it was worth an evening visit. Glad we went but did not revisit in the evening. Very strong WC smells at the bar. The pint was good and fresh. Sar down at the table to review the menu and the table top was very sticky. Finished my pint and headed home. Corvid 19 was taking hold with emphasis on hand washing and hygiene. Epic fail !! All pubs now closed. Perhaps they could do a deep clean while it is closed.

Called in for lunch with friends and enjoyed the food plus pleased to see a fine range of real ales. Have to say thought there’s too many choices on the menu. Better to stick the the gastro pub favourites and keep it simple!!!

We visited here for Sunday dinner whilst on holiday in the area. Absolutely stunning view from the restaurant. Staff were very friendly, food was plentiful and delicious and very reasonably priced. Thank you.

Always welcome at the Tiger with our Dog and it was Burger Night, The choice is growing, I had a Yorkshire Burger this week and it was Fabulous. I’ve never had a burger with stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding on it, but I will be having it again I’d have taken a picture but I didn’t think about it till I’d stuck my knife into it You’ll just have to call Rosie & Marc and get booked in and try on for yourself

Absolutely disgusting.We visited on a sunday and we had a limited time to eat our meals, which actually sounds good because we then knew the pub was busy for food. We ordered 5 sunday dinners, and a childs chicken nuggets, as there was no childs Sunday dinner available. Our adult meals came out first, unusual, and all of them where cold, my one year olds came out last and to my suprise, was actually hot, I asked for some plastic cutlery, to which she had none and brought out regular cutlery, for a one year old. We had 2 small bowls of veg between 5 of us, it would of served one per person. The bowls of veg were very hot, but we had no warning from the waitress and my friend actually burn herself. Burnt Yorkshire puddings, stone cold mash and some very weird looking beef. I have worked in the catering business for some years and I have never once seen beef that looked like that. We had lipstick marks on our glasses and the toilets were disgusting, there was baby changing facilities, that were black and needed a very good bleaching, or better, putting straight in the bin. There was so many cobwebs it was like walking into the best dressed halloween party ever, it seriously doesnt take much to do a bit of de-cobwebing. On the plus side, the staff were nice and didn't charge for one of the meals. But I really do suggest that this establishment either gets a cleaner, or a new one. And a chef that can send out hot meals that dont look like I will spend the rest of the next day on the toilet, or in hospital.

Discovered it was Burger night and chose interesting mixtures of flavours which turned out to be excellent.However, the poor girl behind the bar was expected to serve drinks to a large crowd of people and also take orders for food. We had to wait far too long before our order was taken.

Lovely pub very welcoming went on pie night , so many to choose from we had beef and onion , and a chicken curry both were amazing , very friendly staff would definitely go again

Visited for lunch. The service and the food was excellent. Very attentive young lady working both the bar and restaurant. The only niggle was the open fire which was smoking into the pub which was beginning to make me feel nauseaus. This eventually settled when it lit properly.Will definitely return though and would recommend.

Lovely lunch with my friend. My second visit here food always cooked to perfection at a reasonable price. Dying to try the pie night looks amazing

Quite a find: great home cooking with generous portions but not wastefully so. Fantastic pies and Sunday roasts with lots of meat and fish. Delicious desserts too. Highly recommended. Dogs welcome in the bar area
