UPDATE: AWFUL, BURNT, INCORRECT ORDER RECEIVED TONIGHT. NEVER AGAIN. PHOTOS TAKEN. COULDN'T EVEN EAT IT. AWFUL, RUDE SERVICE. We have eaten takeaways loads from Seafish, but these days about 50% of the online ordering doesn't work - but charged us all the same. When you walk in the welcome is less than friendly. Tonight took the biscuit though, I tried twice to order and was charged. My partner ordered once and was charged. Then my partner walked up, only to find them closed!! They should have posted they were shut and turned off their online ordering system. The food is generally good but everything else is rubbish. Poor.

Had doner and chips, and mix kebab and chips. Absolutely disgusting taste to doner and chicken. Massively overpriced cost £18 for 2 bits of rubber chicken that's been reheated god knows how many times. Will not be going again.. avoid avoid avoid

This was my second lunch time visit to the Sea Fish restaurant and just like the first visit, I really enjoyed it. Lovely friendly staff and excellent service.

Food was OK. Would have been nice if I could get my wheelchair into the takeaway section. And would have been nice if I could have got into the building without someone assistance with the doors.

Stodgy steamy chips big portions loads of large fish and big pot of peas and curry and reasonably priced id go takeout to save a bit unless your lopping on the salt and vinegar

Unfortunately the chips tasted like they had been cooked for hours it was a Sunday but no excuse for that. Wouldn’t go back large portion but not very nice.

Not had anything from here for ages so last night I had chips peas and gravy large, the only positive is yes it was a huge portion . But the food was horrible it tasted old they went in the bin I won't be having anything from here again !!!!

We were regulars until management changed. The chips were undercooked and the fish was horrible and still had bones present. Don't reccomend.

Expensive and bang average. Won’t be back. Forgot to ask if the fish was skinless so had to mess around removing the skin when I opened it. The fish was tasteless. Chips were ok but nothing to get excited about.

Went here today 18/01/24 @ 14:35 the Fish & Chips me and my wife had was fantastic & the Lady who served us was one in a million with a great attitude and very friendly & helpful

Plates were cold chips wasn't very good did get many I asked the waitress if the Haddock was skinned she said yes when it came it wasn't so disappointed staff was very friendly but food poor I don't think we will be going back

I have been to Seafish a lot of times however the last 5/6 times the food has certainly gone down hill, tonight was no exception. They were understaffed and the staff they did have on were very young. Firstly, I waited 35 minutes to be served and for the food to be cooked. Secondly, once home I began to eat my fish and chips. The chips were still raw and crunchy, the fish raw in places, a revolting skin still left on the fish and the fish was smelly like it was either going off or had gone off. I'm 5 months pregnant so on top of this all it is very dangerous and made me feel incredibly sick. I called Seafish. The young lad on the end of the phone couldn't have given less of a damn. There wasn't even a manager on site for me to talk to. Apparently a manager would call me back, I'm still waiting, good job I'm not holding my breath. It's disappointing this place has gone down hill but after several bad meals, this one being the worst by far, sadly I won't ever be returning apart from my refund which I will be receiving.

Ordered online to collect, payment was taken immediately but whilst waiting for order confirmation received an email to say the order had been cancelled due to *staff too busy to process order *connectivity issues *other technical issues Refund could take up to a few days. First and last time ordering online from here.

Food was fine but the cleanliness of the takeaway left a lot to be desired.

It's great, really nice fish & chips and good value. Staff are lovely. Nice atmosphere and decor in the restaurant bit.

Not been here in a while and won't be back, chips were horrible, hard and crispy, not how chippy chips should be, fish was ok but steak and kidney pie was rock hard on top

Worst chips ever! Food wasn’t freshly cooked. Chips tasted as if they had been standing and warmed up. Inedible! Threw 90% away. Fish also disappointing. Missing bread from a kebab meal. Never again.

Normally it's great but I turned up at 8.30 and they decided to close early as there was no customers. 5 cars in the carpark come to get fish n chips ! 🤔

Had a large chips from here Friday they were really blank and atleast 40% had black heads or were rotten

Lovely meal, there were 6 adults and 2 children, we just turned up . we explained that we were turned away from the local pub as children had we had out for 7pm. They really looked after us and the food was lovely

The most disappointing fish and chips. Dry, old haddock, half cooked soggy chips. The mushy peas were ok. Service non- existent….

Friday tea time you would expect fresh fish and chips not the case here dont no how long they had bin cooked chips dry and not very warm fish not much better, service very slow felt sorry for the lady who was doing the front of shop on her own and was struggling, I waited 35mins and it wasn't that busy.

With hearing gossip about this restaurant I went in with little to no expectations but wow I was blown away The food was so fresh the chips that I thought would be dripping with grease was just lovely not greasy at all.. This restaurant needs more recognition don’t always believe what you hear and go try this place out for yourself.

Been a few times recently and the staff have been great. Restaurant is only open until 8.30pm so be aware of that. Food is lovely too, very tasty!

It's a chippie, so on that basis, good marks. Not always as good as last week, but really chirpy at the end of service and a top fryer of fish.

Takeaway- chips were absolutely awful. Dry as a bone and over cooked like they had been sat there for hours. Brown and stale. Loads of black chips too. Fish was okay. They have changed their curry sauce, I used to really like their curry sauce as it used to be a bit spicy and different from others. Their car park needs attention as I fell and almost broke my ankle on a pot hole.

Just walked into this place against my better judgement. As last time I came here. The service was atrocious as people were queueing out the door and the staff members couldn’t even be bothered to address anybody and told them how long they would be waiting. Tonight, as soon as we walked in the lady behind the counter looked straight at us and said “we haven’t got much left “ Another lady walked in and was told the same thing, and when she was asked “well, what have you got left? “She simply said “not much “exactly what uses that to a customer? If the lady in question went out for a meal and was told that the restaurant I’ve got nothing left and couldn’t even be bothered to say exactly what that was would she be satisfied all the lights were turned off are they struggling that much but they can’t pay the electric anymore very very very poor

Have eaten here a few times it’s very hit and miss but what’s pushed this review is it states clearly online and on your signs you are open Mondays till late, but I got there at 8.30 pm to find you closed and a badly written sign stuck on the door stating your closing at 7pm due to it being a Monday absolutely unacceptable service.

Excellent fish and chips. 1 star off for serving them with a stupid salad garnish. Now 5 stars. Excellent fish and chips, charming waitress nice cup of tea. Now no silly garnish.

Ordered a takeaway to pick up which he always been good. Tonight it was very poor. Was clearly ready early and waiting as wasn’t hot. Regular fish was clearly a small and it wasn’t great, perhaps equivalent to frozen oven cooked in quality. Chips were very dry. Chicken strips were absolutely atrocious, criminal almost. The size of these things looked like they were battered chickens toes but there’s more meat in chicken toes, these were all batter. Very disappointing, I can only assume they’ve changed hands because it’s not just gone downhill, it’s fallen off a cliff. Packaging is all polystyrene now as well vs their old environmentally friendly type.

Went on way bk from work the service was slow and terrible the woman behind the counter couldn’t read the tickets the food was over cooked and the gravy was lumpy and tasteless also I only live a couple of min down the road and was in my car the food was cold avoid!!

Unfortunately it seems as though this place has gone down hill in a short space of time (Seems as though it is under new ownership). It has the feel of a place running down before it closes permanently. Lots of items missing from the menu, food was really poor and the service non existent, didn’t even apologise for getting a meal wrong. Really poor experience and we won’t be going back in a hurry. Would not recommend!

We met up with friends for lunch. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Lovely freshly cooked fish dishes. I thought it was just a fish and chip place with dining in but they do so much more. So not a problem if you dont like fish. I had grilled seabass with chips and salad and couldn't finish all the fish. It was perfectly cooked. We will definitely be returning.

There was 1 lady running around serving everyone. She did a fabulous job. Chips were all crisp and bad ends.

This place used to be very good the fish used to have light batter that was perfect. Now the batter is heavy and overcooked. The fish is over cooked on the edges and chewy and hard. Awful fish. It was once the best fish for miles around now we’ve said we won’t give them another chance. 2 bad meals in a row so no more.

What a shambles 30 mins for 2 small fish,chips and peas only 1 staff on and she was as much use as a chocolate t-pot had to ask me 4 times what I ordered then squeesed into the smallest of containers so went everywhere it used to be the best chippy in ripley now gone down hill

15.27 hours Sunday 2nd April. Some staff inside but doors locked! Besides the opening times listed here, the times listed in the window said open until 9pm! Another couple of potential customers were trying to get in at the same time as me. What's going on? Correct your opening times please to avoid us potential customers having wasted journeys.

I am giving a 4 star review because despite the gravy not tasting very nice, everything else was spot on, especially the lovely lady serving and taking orders. She did not hesitate to ensure everything was okay with our meals and when we mentioned the gravy she was quick to correct this and take it off the bill without us even asking and offered free drinks which she didn’t have to do, but it really showed how much she cared! Thank you 😊

we tried their new kebabs and were very disappointed. the meat was poor quality gritty rubbish and came to us cold as the middle aged woman warming it up on the griddle was too busy talking with the rest of the staff and joking with uber eats delivery drivers to do it properly. chips aren't great either. service was also really slow due to the same issue. these people don't seem to care that you are waiting. we won't be going back. what a shame.

Ordered a Mixed kebab from here tonight. No chicken available at 6pm ! Just Donner which was cold and the flat bread was thick and doughy. Probably the worst £9 I've spent on a kebab ever

Absolutely terrible takeaway service. Three senior citizens serving who’ve absolutely no idea what they’re doing, taking hours to do the simplest things. No explanation for why a very simple order is taking so long and no apology or acknowledgment at the end. It’s not the first time it’s been like this, I’m certainly not going back again.

Possibly the worst lunchtime service I've seen in any takeaway or restaurant ever. We stood around the door for a while waiting to be seated to be told that there would be a half hour wait and we were told that there was only two members of stuff on in a way that made it sound like it was my fault We opted to go for a takeout at the fish counter Big mistake. Again, we still had to hang around before anybody even acknowledged our presence in the counter area. Eventually, a member of staff came and served the people in front of us, and then took our order. Given that this is a fish and chip shop, our order was very complicated. It involved both fish and indeed chips There were handwritten signs everywhere telling everybody it was cash only, unfortunately I had cash on me, I say unfortunately because it would have been better had we not bothered Having waited 10 minutes to give our complicated fish and chip order, we were then told to pay and then sit down and wait We waited And waited At one point, it was quite obvious from the shouted conversations between the staff that the fish that had been cooked for our order was given to somebody in the restaurant We waited Eventually, after another 20 minutes we were called to the counter to collect our order. We had asked for plenty of salt and vinegar but apparently this was also very complicated and couldn't be done I find it utterly ridiculous that a very busy fish and chip shop with a great reputation. Wait until somebody comes through the door at the busiest time of the day to cook fish to order for both the restaurant and the takeaway counter As we waited we witnessed at least a dozen people come in, get fed up waiting just to give their order in and leave without ordering This whole experience was so at odds with previous visits, but I wonder if there has been a management change, they're certainly needs to be a staff change Apart from the lack of appropriate condiments, the fish was very well cooked and the chips were nice and dry with no grease at all in the white containers. So, it was not worth the wait and it will be sometime before I bother trying again

Had cod chips peas curry. The cod was really nice and couldn't fault it. But was let down by the rest of it.

Comedy queue in the takeaway. 50 mins for 3 fish and chips. And they're OK with that. I won't be returning to be treated like that again.

My husband & I really enjoyed sea fish ripley. Lovely food the haddock was very tasty it was the full length of the plate. The young lady waitress was very friendly. The only negative comment my husband made was the teapot size was more for individuals. We will visit again👍

Great place to eat, the food portions are really generous and the prices are good. Fabulous views from the rear of the property, plenty of parking and disabled access to the front of the property.

Shocking last night, more than 10 people queuing in Takeaway and the people serving didn’t even look up to address the customers and let them know how long it would be before anybody got served. They were just really busy pumping orders through to the restaurant and I think deliveries. I understand that staff don’t turn up and sometimes businesses have long waiting times, but for all the staff to ignore the customers waiting and eventually watch them walk out one by one was pretty poor.

12 MONTHS WAS THE LAST TIME I USED THIS CHIP SHOP (SEE PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW THIS REVIEW, NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE THAN LAST YEAR). TONIGHT I DECIDED TO USE THIS CHIP SHOP AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN THE WHOLE MEAL HAS GONE IN THE BIN - CHIPS WERE COLD, FISH BATTER WAS BURNT, FISH CAKE WAS TASTELESS AND I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THE CURRY SAUCE, OTHER THAN IT DIDN'T TASTE LIKE CURRY. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED, IT IS NOT A CHEAP MEAL TO HAVE TO THROW IT ALL AWAY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE FOOD AT THIS FISH AND CHIP SHOP. My husband has just been to buy 2 large fish, chips and peas as a treat seeing it is Bank Holiday which meant I would not have to cook. I have thrown the whole lot in the bin. The chips were dry, the fish was awful, usually it is white but is was grey, the batter was too thick. It wasn't very nice at all and I would not recommend!

Great fresh chips, lovely cod and haddock both with thin crispy batter. Gravy tasty and lovely mushy peas.

Takeaway fish and chips. It can get busy but that shows how well regarded it is. Lovely fish and chips every time, everything seems cooked fresh and not sat for ages. Will go again, and again ......

Seating absolutely filthy. Fish advertised wrong on the counter but didn't think to remove the sign. When it says small fish, that's exactly what is was. Tiny. Also had chips and pie. No salt and vinegar even though she asked and i said yes. All had to go in the microwave as it was cold and its only a 2 minute drive from home. Very dissatisfied. It reminds me why I stopped going previously.

Food was lovely, service wasn’t great. We had halloumi fries, cod & chips with mushy peas and a pudding and it was all really tasty.

The chips were not very warm and had gone hard. They had clearly been standing for a while. You could tell from their appearance that they weren't fresh, so I have no idea why they would sell them! The fish was freshly cooked, however that was the only good thing about our meal, as that was also dry. We were offered free chips on our next visit. No mention about the fish. Unfortunately this has happened before. We won't be returning.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST SAUSAGE IN BATTER EVER. The batter was rock hard and then chewy. Wasn't just a one off, we had three between our group and they were all disgusting. Chips were pretty decent. Portion size was OK. Only giving 1 star as I can't give zero!

Far too expensive...try the chippie at Loscoe near the garage.. far cheaper and nicer.
