Went for a meal with family one Saturday and the food was awful, not be going to eat again there

Great little find, lots of walks when you need to work off the new calories…worth a trip just for the beer

We came today for lunch & thoroughly enjoyed it, the quality was exceptional & so was the price, we will definitely come back, thank you

Called for a drink after a walk,

Lovely afternoon sat out in the sun by the canal followed by a lovely meal. Popped in for a pre Christmas meal and was warmly welcomed by Kath and Ian. Great beer and once again great affordable food.

Thanks for hosting us today the food was lovely, it was my mums 80th birthday and you and your staff couldn't have made her special birthday such a lovely day the food was lovely the burgers were amazing, everything was served lovely and hot which was lovely as we were such a big party, everyone enjoyed the pub ,thanks once again,

Great Sunday Carvery, nicely cooked and great value too.

Lovely sociable helpful staff, going back to eat on a night the kitchen is open as people rave about it. Also dog friendly and had my dog's favourite treats!

I have been in the Great Northern Pub plenty of times when visiting Langley Mill. It has a Quiet,Cosy Atmosphere.

The only menu I can find is 6 years old.

Sunday lunch carvery was very good, variety of fresh veg, choice of meats, caters for larger groups as well. Seating areas outside. Good prices for quality food. Would recommend booking for popular times or larger numbers.

Great carvery, lovely little pub, not over crowded, all handmade not frozen! Good selection of veg, beautiful gravy. Not from the area but would def recommend and would be happy to go again

A cracking pint of ale. Only had the one(driving). Didn't try the food but it was popular for early evening & looked fine. The outside needs tarting up but inside is fine. Very clean & tables well polished. Will be going back soon.

Carvery on a Sunday is £9.50 approx for standard "classic" size. There was a choice of three meats (tender stringy type of beef, dry turkey, and roast pork), and they made some more broccoli for us when we arrived at 2pm. There were burnt offerings of Yorkshire puddings and small burnt potatoes, scraping of cabbage, some carrots which were OK, the cauliflower was a bit past it, and I think there was a separate cheese sauce which I didn't try. The gravy and horseradish was good. The cider I had was not chilled as it is from a bag in a box type setup. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was friendly also. I would recommend arriving early like 12pm if you want to visit, by 3pm the staff are sat down eating all the leftovers.

One of those "friendly" places! Warm, good company and a good selection of local and national beers. Always made welcome. Entertainment at weekends and good food. Brilliant starting place to have a wander around the Langley Mill Canal Basin and canal walks.

Called midweek for a carvery which was very nice, beef was very tender and tasty, nice mashed potato and Yorkshire pudding.

Had a carvers dinner.very nice although not sure if it was proper mashed potatoes.had very strange lumps.staff were nice.will go again

Proper old school carvery,lovely roasties Yorkshire puddings and meat,really enjoyed our carvery excellent value for money ,so much better than normal chain pub carvery’s and great value too.

Went in on a weekday afternoon, so it was a quieter time. The food was a proper home cooked meal. Delicious and warming! I'm looking forward to returning for the carvery! Had a good selection of different drinks and very friendly staff.

We rang ahead but were NOT informed that we would be wise to book. So, as advised, we arrived before 3pm, to be told that they were fully booked! We had to spend £20 in cab fare, as we both have hidden disabilities, to get dinner elsewhere! Not impressed.

A very large and spacious old pub right next to the canal. The real ales were all great quality and a variety of beers. Food is good and the nearest bus stop just a short walk away if you aren't driving. Nice outside area to the rear as well where you can see the canal.

Nipped in yesterday for a bite to eat after the dreaded shopping trip, to relax and unwind. I was very surprised not to see management about, but the very welcoming bar lady quickly explained they was on a well deserved holiday. Our visit was a enjoyable experience as always. Hence the 4*, down to the lady mentioned above. Our only concern was at times she looked under pressure, while what I believed to be the kitchen staff just sat in the bar area watching on, while loudly gossiping. A little bit of team work would of made this a 5* and a tip being left. As when we asked about the tip system, we were told that the tips are share equally between all staff. Unfortunately in my opinion I work hard for want I have and only one member of staff deserved my tip.

Cozy pub with a cracking little beer garden out the back. Perfect spot for a cheeky pint on a sunny afternoon. Beer is well kept and staff are friendly

Just stopped in on the way back home from a long walk. Sat outside with our dog 🐕 and had a drink. So refreshing after walking 🚶‍♂️

Lovely family evening at the Great Northern, 6 of us went for the carvery and it was excellent, really nice meat and good choice of vegetables etc. Always a warm welcome. Definitely will return

Great and reasonably priced food. Good selection of drinks and lovely outside space next to the canal. Staff are friendly and cannot do enough.

Quite expensive compared to other pubs

Great service from everyone. Refreshing to find a pub where the bar staff enjoy working there and make an effort to help you feel comfortable. Carvery food excellent even the server didn't get tired of saying beef or gammon and made everyone feel welcome. Will certainly be back love Matty, partner, mother and dog! X

Friendly atmosphere and location

The food here is absolutly brilliant! I have tried the carvery, the steaks, the burgers and even the 2 for 12 menu and all have been beautiful. Good price good portions and brilliant staff highly recomend especially the sunday and wednesday carverys

Heard the northern was coming under new management this week and decided to give it a second chance after the shocking landlord that was in before. Went in on a Wednesday for the carvery and couldn't believe the difference. Great price and the food was amazing! One of the best I've had in a long time. Wide selection of guest ales, beers and spirits. Absolutely back to its best and will be in again!
