Opted for the veggie burger, wasn’t overly impressed. Burger came with no sauce, a wilted piece of lettuce and was dry. The chips were the nicest part of the meal unfortunately. £18 for a soft drink and burger. Atmosphere was ok.

Booked a Sunday lunch for 2. Good service and the food was excellent. The only observation was that I could have done with a little more meat but that didn’t spoil the meal at all. Loads of vegetables and cooked perfectly, not too hard and not too soft. All washed down with a splendid pint. It’s not the cheapest but it’s not the most expensive and I’d say you get good value for the cost. Very much recommend a visit.

A fabulous Sunday lunch. Very large portions and all well cooked. Best of all they gave me a gluten free Yorkshire pudding and some cauliflower to replace the cauliflower cheese. So many places just take off the cauliflower cheese and the Yorkshire pudding but don’t offer a reduction in price. I was really impressed by how they made this a normal part of the service. Also 10 out of 10 for listing all the allergens. It makes it so much easier to order as a customer. We will be going back. Very pretty old building with lots of outside space for dining as well.

Sadly this was not a great evening 😕 We were a table of 4 and 2 ordered the pie with chips at an extra cost and 2 ordered the curry. The pie without question had been reheated as you can’t disguise the crusty meat and overlooked pastry also the gravy with vegetables under cooked . The 2 curries would have been nice if they the sauce was completely dried out, again a sign of reheating. We waited a while while the dessert menu which was a mistake on their part as we realised how expensive they were so decided to give them a miss. Overall it was an unhappy expensive experience . We used to visit quite frequently but something was definitely not the same this time and will not be rushing back.

Nice but no Coke Zero or Pepsi max during a Sunday lunch, as ran out so no sugar free fizzy. Had to ask for all the sauces for a roast ,the yorkshire was massive but like a crispy cracker ( better smaller and edible) and veg was basically raw which was not nice and strange. Definitely could all be easily improved. Will come back soon to see .. !

This is a great place for lunch. The 6 of us were looked after very well and service was excellent. The choice of food was really good and unusual and we all enjoyed our well cooked and presented lunches. Very good value for money.

A very mediocre glass of red wine was £9.00. Chicken fajitas came with just two wraps which was insufficient In total we had one steak and ale pie, one chicken fajitas and one regular burger. To follow we had one chocolate brownie and one sticky toffee pudding (£8 each). The only drinks we had were a pint of lager, the aforementioned red wine and a lime/soda - total cost was in excess of £88 when I’d have thought £50 would have been about the mark for what we got Not the sort of place to pop in for a pub meal while in the area. We all thought it was overpriced and have had much better value for money in neighbouring villages We won’t be returning- sorry

Our party of four + one dog arrived for dinner and a few rounds of drinks on a Saturday. Immediately upon entering we were barked at by a small dog – not a problem, it happens! However the reception we received from the landlord/owner was appalling. We asked if we were okay to sit in the bar area with our dog, and his response was unwelcoming to say the least. I have never been refused to bring my dog to a dog “friendly” pub because he is “too big”, according to the owner. Our dog did not bark back or cause a fuss. However, the owner acted like we were causing trouble and didn’t want us there. The pub was not crowded, and we turned around and left within 2 minutes of entering as quite frankly didn’t want to give our custom when we had received such a rude “welcome”.

The pub itself is absolutely stunning. The decor, the ambiance - perfect. We were having a very rare weekend away from our very energetic 4 year old and this was the perfect 'adulty' setting for a relaxing meal. As a side note, we were staying at Thorn House down the road and highly recommend. The food was okay. Nothing special (slightly overpriced pub grub). It was £17 for my burger and chips and for me, this just was a bit on the steep side for what was a very average meal (think Weatherspoon's standards). Overall, it's a lovely place to visit for a drink, but I probably wouldn't have food again just based on cost - v - quality.

Unplanned Xmas drinks with family members. Lovely cosy village pub and will look to go back to try their food. One small point that both myself and daughter noticed. Landlord seem abrupt and very stressed and this was when it opened !. Hopefully just a one off ,but he should try to be more welcoming to non villagers as well locals

Amazing food and service! The team are so friendly, especially Tim and Maddie. Top attentive service as always. We enjoyed our lunch of a roast with all the trimmings and a steak and kidney suet pudding. Lovely to be served a whole pudding rather than a slice. Great pub with great staff.

Looking for somewhere between 3 different parts of the country for a meet up, and this place popped up. Very welcoming. Food lovely, particularly the Sunday roasts, an outside/under cover area is fantastic, able to sit with dogs and allow kids to play on play area. We'll likely be back!

We went for a family lunch. I called ahead and made sure they had tables and my son is disabled and they assured me they did and said come along so we did Play area is ok though children were playing very insanely climbing all over the frame, jumping from heights and pushing smaller kids and no one intervening but I guess that’s down to parents that wasn’t bothering also The service at the till from what I think is the owner was horrible. He was impatient blunt and rude! We had a couple of small requests due to allergies and he was almost annoyed at this Waited a long time for food and when it came the chicken was over cooked, a bit burnt, dry and chips were cold My son is tube fed and was fed by machine at the table and when we finished we tried to rush to the bathroom as he said he felt sick but only the Womens toilet is near the door and men is located elsewhere and we didn’t make it in time to either sadly and he vomited everywhere bless him 4 staff members watched and did nothing to help!! For 5 mins he was sick and we were frantically using tissues we were pulling off the tables that were wrapped around cutlery trying to clean the mess. It’s disgusting that they did nothing to come help or ask if we were ok or needed anything. He is very clearly disabled and they were heartless and useless. Eventually after a long time of us then using baby wipes to try clean their carpet a lovely lady we hadn’t seen came out with a bucket and was nice but we left immediately after and didn’t even finish because the rest of the team made us feel so uncomfortable but she was lovely and offered to help and was trying to comfort us. Do not recommend for families at all and won’t be back

Lovely old pub - staff and locals friendly and welcoming. We are off the species menu and were delighted with our meal. We recommend the Baba Ganoush and Crispy Pork belly as starters, and the Smoky Hake and the Spanakopita as mains. All absolutely delicious!

What a very nice old public house this is in a quite village location. Beautifully well preserved building with some very attractive features, starting with the heavy timber front door and open fire. It is mainly a gastro pub but I wouldn’t feel out of place just dropping in for a beer. We were there evening for dinner. The pianist was playing away and the log fire was going full blast, which made the whole place feel so very cosy. The menu was not extensive but wide enough to suit most tastes. I had liver and bacon which was spot on. Ther is a good selection of ales, which always helps. Service was friendly and quick enough, despite the pressure the kitchen was under. All in all, this is a great place and I hope to be back.

Nice Restaurant The menu was quite special. Got venison, beef cheeks and lamb pasta. Overall everything tasted good. Delicious and tender beef and venison. Personally I prefer the mashed potato than the layered potato. The vegetables were not overcooked. Everything was correctly seasoned with good balance. You know, the side didn't taste bland after you bite the main. Glad that the bread pudding was not too sweet. Personally I hate dessert being too sweet. The staff was very efficient. Wanted to get our order as soon as giving us the menu. The restaurant area was clean. Lovely environment. Just some problems with the toilets. They were really smelly when customers passed by in the narrow corridor.
