We can’t thank Tony the landlord and his team of absolutely fantastic staff enough for letting us use the function room for our wedding reception on Friday. The communication on the night was fantastic and it all went very smooth. From the very first phone call, Tony was eager to assist in any way possible. Both Tony and his staff were on hand to help in any way possible on the days running up to and on the day. The room looked incredible. The food was perfect. All 22 of us could not fault anything with the quality, quantity or presentation of the food. The menu is spot on, just the way it should be for a cracking village pub. Tony, Caroline and I couldn’t be happier with how it went. So thank you once again to you and your fantastic team.

Had a lovely meal celebrating my birthday with my family . The food was good , we all really enjoyed what we had. My 7 year old grandson loved the children's chicken wings ( he said they were the best he'd ever had ) And he really enjoyed his banter with the landlord too !

First visit to the Six Bells dined in the resturant, nice enough suroundings clean and well presented. Orders taken by freindly staff efficiently and food served quickly. The main courses where enjoyable feel for the portion size it is overpriced. The desserts were piping hot the icecream tasted great shame the brownie was hard like a biscuit.

Second time I visited in a week first time sat in bar , manager VERY RUDE , felt like an inconvenience to be served , bitten around my ankle while in there , second visit ( not by choice was already arranged ) sat in garden to avoid being bitten , waitress was amazing and friendly plus helpful ( couldn't fault her ) . Chef brought our food out and again he was very rude to our whole group , food was very over priced for what we received. I ordered cabbage slaw which I thought would be a nice Coleslaw bit no just a pile of cabbage , very disappointing

My husband and I stopped here for a bite of lunch with our 3 yr old grandson and our (large) dog! First impressions were that it was a 'proper' pub with good beer and good food. We were all made very welcome and the guy who served us was so friendly and helpful. The sandwiches were lovely and the children's chicken nuggets and chips were not only enjoyed by grandson, but looked amazing - we had to try one and can confirm that they were made of 'proper' chicken breast NOT reconstituted chicken. Lunch was great and good value too. Shame that we were just passing through as this is a bit too far for us to pop in but would thoroughly recommend.

We had a festive meal so was looking forward to it. The roast dinner was terrible. It arrived with 3 dried out sprouts, frozen shrivelled peas (a teaspoon full!), roast potatoes and parsnip black reheated and hard (not edible!). My mum asked about yorkshire puddings they come extra, never heard anything like it. My husbands pie was bought in, my cod had no seasoning and was dry, and what it sat on well!. Dessert was no better. The whole meal was the worst we've ever had and spoilt our evening. They then had the nerve to add a 10% service charge. Basically all our meals were microwaved (could hear the pinging) nothing homemade, if it was the chef wants sacking. One big over priced atrocious meal. Heard from other people afterwards that it's all microwaved food.

I took 12 of my family, 3 generations, here for an evening meal an a Saturday evening. Firstly, booking was easy and efficient, with a timely reminder on phone. The place itself combines a popular and cosy village pub with a nice restaurant that was just perfect for us. They made a long table for us and served drinks including some nice local ales. There was an excellent choice of quality food and drink with something for everyone. The service was first class and friendly. Quite how the chef can create 12 varied meals arriving on time and faultless is beyond me. We had a really lovely evening and will definitely be back. Thank you!

Have eaten here before and cannot argue with the food....good pub grub and the beer is good. However, sat down at just before 8pm and was told at 3 minutes past that the kitchen was closed. I guess their loss...the other pub in the village were happy to accommodate us and were happy to take our £100 for food and beer!!

Went for a mid week meal, it is our local so often pop down for food or a drink. It has a lovely big beer garden and you can bring dogs which we love. However, there are three sides to the bar to order from. We were the first waiting, and instead another lady got served first. Then when moving on to the man behind her, he wanted to order for 10 people (food). We were then told (having been in the queue before these two people) that there would be a long wait for food and that these people should have ordered a table if there were 10 of them. This was disappointing as firstly we queued first, and secondly, they gave no option to put in 2 meals prior to this large order.

We had a visitor so decided to eat out locally. It is an old pub with a great atmospheric and the waitress/ barmaid was friendly and attentive. I usually go for Hunters Chicken when eating out as you know what to expect and it is usually good but on this occasion, I decided to try something else. My fellow diners both chose the steak pie with veg and chips and I ordered the Lobster pasta with king prawns and garlic bread. The food came out reasonably quickly, I admit to immediately wishing I had stuck up to my original choice as what arrived looked more like a started! A handful of pasta with sauce and a generous amount of standard sized prawns in an iron skillet with two bits of garlic bread on the side. It was on a wooden board as the skillet was hot. The sauce was really lovely, rich and flavoursome but the proportions were all wrong as there wasn’t enough pasta. Double the amount of pasta twists, which are the cheapest ingredient, put it in a bowl and it would have been great! I could understand the skillet if it was a dish that had a crusty cheese topping but this didn’t. There was melted cheese but not a lot but it wasn’t bubbling! I did point out that I hadn’t found any lobster pieces in there and was informed that there aren’t any… it is in the sauce! So no lobster or ‘king’ prawns and a handful of pasta really isn’t worth the £14.50 price tag. I did have a dessert, handmade sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which was nice.

I was unfamiliar with the local ales, and was invited to try a selection free of charge. "Are you eating" he enquired. "Then have a seat, I'll bring your drinks over and get your order". And so it has continued for about 10 years. A place to really enjoy. In 2 weeks this will end. I just hope that when we next return, the new owner can continue this service. I can only echo some of the previous reviews on here saying how much Emaeus has changed since my last visit. Previous visits have been a joyful experience in as much as people seemed welcoming and happy in their job/home. They seemed to appreciate the effort one had gone to to take items out to them. A lampshade with a tiny mark on it was refused. Ridiculous!! They don’t seem to want to put the fort in to get a wet rag and wipe it in order to make a sale. The cafe has gone downhill since my last visit. Luke warm breakfast items and mushrooms floating in grey water served up in an environment that has lost its cosy quirkiness in decor using donated items that made Joan’s coffee shop a bit of a weekend destination. The ambiance has gone. Artful jovial displays of donated that brought a smile to one’s face are non existent now. I could go on but I could not wait to leave Emaeus today and did not bother browsing. To sum up it feels when you go there it’s like the donors should be grateful to Emaeus for them deigning to accept an item. I do understand that items should be of a quality for resale as it costs them to dispose of items that do not sell but the choosiness has gone too far in my opinion. The British Heart Foundation are much easier to deal with and will be my preferred choice for item donation and my monetary donation to a homelessness charity will now be St Mungos who are amazing. Come on Emaeus sort yourselves out! Dear Emaeus, I appreciate your response to my review on my recent visit although I cannot see your reply here. I acknowledge that you are saddened to hear of my findings and acknowledge that you have given me your CEO contact details for contact which I will do. However frankly I can’t see the point in discussing my findings and to hear excuses as to why my experience was so not what I was expecting having visited you on other occasions and have had no complaints to make. I would rather you action the points I raised so that on my next visit it will be as enjoyable as previously rather than talk about them. . As I said I will contact your CEO as you have requested in an effort ensure Emaeus can continue its worthwhile work in times of increased competitiveness for funding of similar enterprises.
