The Three Horseshoes Inn Restaurant in North Hertfordshire

I ordered 3 meats and could only eat 2 as the beef was tough and inedible. The crackling was buried under all the vegetables making it no longer cracking. My meal has been warmed up and the whole meal was very disappointing.

This was our first meal out at the three horseshoes and we were so impressed. The place itself is cosy and inviting with plenty of space to sit we liked that the tables were not on top of one another. The service was 5 star the staff were helpful, polite and we had a good laugh too! The food was very good, we weren't left waiting and the whole meal was relaxing and enjoyable. We had a walk around the garden which we didn't realise was so big so we will definitely be back on a warmer day to sit out there. The parking was very easy and we noticed a bigger car park out the back. On the whole a lovely place.. thank you!

The Sunday roast here is delightful and among the best in the area. Plus, it’s very welcoming for dogs, making it an excellent spot for pet owners!

There were 10 of us and a dog in our party celebrating a joint family birthday. The indoor table was ready for us when we arrived. No problem in allowing our dog to remain with us. The waiter was super efficient with an incredible memory as he took our drinks order and then our meal order without the need to make any notes. All the drinks and meals were correctly delivered to the correct person. Our meals were delivered quickly and at the same time. How unusual to not have to wait for one or more meals. The waiter was very courteous and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The size of the various meals was great and the overall cost was very reasonable. Highly recommended. We will have to go back again.

Went on Saturday evening for a meal .Nice looking pub very friendly staff .no table service which is strange nowadays as most of my party are elderly. Food ok nothing special has steak and venison pie with veg gravy was a thick stodge veg over cooked felt like it had been microwaved and put on a plate .so ok but be aware it's full of dogs lying on large beds dotted around so if your elderly or not good with eyesight look out .

Good selection of real ales which are really well kept, tasting fresh and cool. Nice atmosphere. Haven't eaten there yet,k but food looks good.

Thought would try out as listed as dog friendly, was surprised on seating that dog friendly area is carpeted but rest of eating area seemed to be hard floor, my dog was very happy to lie on carpet though. Initially disappointed as we both wanted the Steak Sandwich but advised no steak available . Placed order for Hunters Chicken and Gammon and egg. Chicken dish was so hot when served the cheese was bubbling and very runny, too hot to eat for 10 minutes , unfortunately the peas arrived stone cold and hard. No check from staff so had to attract attention of waitress to ask for a fresh portion. Both meals came with 2 small onion rings and chips were good. We found the staff friendly and the garden very nice.

Have visited this pub for Lunch, Dinner and Sunday Lunch and can recommend as always first class. Tastes just like home made, all rhe little touches are superb..

This is our 3rd Sunday Roast. Never disappointed. Lovely roasts potatoes and delicious yorkshire puddings.. Dogs allowed is a bonus too!

Been here twice, once for tea, it was surprisingly good for £15. Also for mums birthday, the hunters chicken was nice, the starter of squid and prawns, was disappointing. Everyone else enjoyed their meals

Treated my Auntie to lunch. We had chilli jam sausages, chicken wings and hog sausage roll for starters which were delightful, tasted amazing! We had sandwich’s for lunch, fish ginger goujons & steak with caramelised onion, and wow wasn’t disappointed. Totally stuffed but well worth the visit! We shall return! Very happy customers

Popped in for a family Sunday Roast meal. Food was great and service by Emily was superb as there was quite alot of us and drinks kept flowing nicely. Roast was great and desserts were the finish touch. Thank you so much for everything. We will be back soon.

Had a table for four tonight all the food was absolutely amazing but the service was terrible, our drinks were left sitting on the bar so ended up going to get them our selves , then the second round of drinks got forgotten about so had to go to the bar again and get them , then when asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu we said yes and then saw our waitress get her bag and leave , it wasn’t busy and there were alway 4/5 staff members standing at the bar chatting so no excuse really just bad service from the waitress It’s a lovely pub and is very clean but unfortunately we were sat next to a table with 4 children all with phones blasting out noise from their games they were playing and the parents were totally oblivious to how loud the 4 phones were , so overall atmosphere tonight was awful too .

Booked for afternoon tea, food was fantastic one of the best afternoon teas I've had!

Friendly welcome at this very large Stonegate pub, plenty of area inside already set for dining (Bank Holiday Monday). 5 well kept Real Ale plus a special doggy beer! 😁 Plenty of outside seating. Separate Stables outside available for hire. Large car park.

We enjoyed a very nice lunch with friends. Excellent cheese soufflés followed by artichoke salad with duck and a superb beef and ale pie. However, the service was wanting. 3 of the 4 soufflés were delivered followed by a 10 minute pause while we waited for the fourth! Also we asked for the bill - and again 20 mins later. Such a shame. Being busy is no excuse. Only take bookings you can cope with.

Great service here and a lovely local pub. My only comment is that my gammon was overly salty, but apart from that, it was very good.

Had lunch here today. Sadly the parking places for disabled people have been removed and the meal was spoilt by peas that were hard and mealy. Access for disabled very difficult.

So glad this hostelry were able to accommodate our party booking. Nine of us met up to celebrate an 80th birthday, as you might expect we all chose different dishes, but all came to the table at the same time. No hesitation in giving five stars for food, service and ambiance. Thank you for good service.

I took my mum for afternoon tea, it was great value , everything was fresh and delicious! Would definitely recommend trying it if you haven't already!!

Glasses are dirty. Not good when you are drinking real ale. Wine over priced for quality. Understand the food is nice

Went here with daughter, her husband and their baby and we each a Sunday roast. They both had turkey and I have 3 meat one. It was absolutely flipping stomach filling delicious. Every mouthful was proper yummy and you can ask for more spuds, gravy and Yorkshire! Service superb, friendly staff and we sat outside in the lovely gardens. I would certainly go there again when next in this area.

What was once my favourite go to restaurant for Christmas Day dinner and a fail safe roast dinner it seems to have gone downhill. Service was almost awkward and all the food was overdone and rubbery. Waited 15 mins after arrival with the waiter walking past and ignoring us so I asked if someone could take our order (there were small children at the table) to be met with an impatient response from the man behind the bar. Not good and will not return sadly

Tuesday nights they do a pub quiz which is great fun for all

Gathered here for my brothers 51st birthday celebration. We’d booked a table in advance for 20 people inside, no problem. Turned up on the day, bright sunshine, asked if we could sit outside instead, no problem. They rearranged 4 lots of garden furniture in the middle of Sunday lunch rush hour, no problem. The beer selection was excellent, no problem. Timothy Taylor was quite exceptional, no problem. Fancied the roast but changed my mind and went for the ribeye steak, no problem. Fancied a glass of Malbec with my steak, no problem. 20 separate orders, no problem. Desserts, no problem. Great service, no problem. Would I come again, no problem! The landlord really knows what he’s doing. Everything was perfect thank you…

Very nice village pub. Staff were efficient and unobtrusive. We were allowed to just eat and enjoy our catch up with our friends. Food well presented. Served hot and fresh. Lovely outdoors seating area for ideal use in the good weather. Plenty of car parking with a large car park at the rear of the pub.

Great service and a good Sunday lunch This was our first visit and certainly will not be our last. Really good selection of ales, we all enjoyed the food, a decent menu indicating all home cooked. Jamie, who looked after us, was amazing, professional, friendly and did not write our order down, just remembered it all, great guy. I only dropped a star on atmosphere because it was a bit noisy, some very young children but we did choose a peak lunch time. We would very much recommend this lovely pub.

We were there for a catered family event. They were flexible and capable and understanding. The food was also brilliant and there was loads of parking. I would definitely book them again.

Reliable local pub. No weird kitchen hours or complex schedules, spacious parking, decent food and drinks.

We ate here yesterday, it’s a pub and has a pub vibe but the food is ATROCIOUS! I had a pie with veg, the pie was dry and slightly cremated, the veg were totally cremated! It also came with a lumpy cheese sauce, which in hindsight I should’ve avoided because I’ve been up all night as a result, but I needed the cheese sauce to cover the burn! Defo not the cheapest place given the quality. Staff were friendly when engaged but not attentive, as in - didn’t see anyone after the food was on the table, wasn’t checked in with to see if the food was alright or if we needed anything - just standard stuff. Coffee was nice.

Love this place. Took my parents there for something to eat for lunch. Lovely atmosphere, great service, superb value for money and a superb range of drinks. This is my ‘go to’ place for all my friends and family. Couldn’t recommend it any higher. Steve and Amy always make you feel very welcome.

God forbid you ask for a new pint glass as they were all dirty. Then made to feel like I was wrong. Real shame, have been drinking here for 20 plus years. The standards have really dropped, and staff need to check there attitude other then the youngest worker there. Only reason they get one star is cause if him. So thanks for that

Popped in on a dog walk and had the chilli jam sausage starter and the Stilton mushroom bruschetta both came within 10 minutes staff were attentive and wood was delicious. Can't fault them

A lovely pub nestled in Letchworth with helpful staff & good selection of drinks. On the day the food was not up to the mark & needed more TLC before it came out. Overall a good local pub.

Had Sunday lunch today the bar staff were very accommodating seating my wife an I by the door as my wife has cancer service an food was fabulous I was determined to have a pudding but after eating the Sunday mixed roast I couldn't eat another thing thank you so much to the staff great value fabulous atmosphere will return again can't recommend them enough kind regards terry coxall 👍

Only called in for a drink but the food looked so good and the atmosphere was inviting and friendly that have booked for lunch today. I took my mum and kids on NYD and could not find any fault in the food, ended up having three courses as everything on the menu sounded so good. I had Roast beef and it was delicious. The children's menu offers really good value for money, interesting way of serving the burgers... Both bar and waiting staff are friendly and attentive. Will definitely spend more time in this pub

I book the Three Horseshoes every year for the Christmas Lunch for our group of volunteers. We have never been disappointed and this year was no exception. 14 people enjoyed an excellent meal and the service was very efficient. The whole management of our booking could not be faulted.

Lovely meal at the pub this evening with a friend. Food was delicious especially the crumble of the day. Look forward to our next visit.

We had a bad experience here. Staff very rude and not interested. Food lukewarm and four of us were sick afterwards. Girl didn’t know how to serve us or look at us when taking the order. Very disappointing. We had to ask three times for a drink. No lights on. My mom couldn’t see the menu or her meal. Wouldn’t go again

Very good service all round. They managed to get us a table for 11 people celebrating my mum in laws birthdayat last mintue after being let down. We went for our staff Christmas do.. most of the staff were jolly and enthusiastic, the table was set lovely and the atmosphere was pleasant. The food was ok. The potatoes and vegetables were all hard and the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked so I didn't finish the meal.

We had a wonderful Christmas festive lunch on Sunday the 3rd December, lovely food and great service, the staff were excellent, We were a table of 16 people..

First time visiting and won’t be visiting again, to start of my food came out and it was cold then my order was wrong and it was sent back to the kitchen where I could hear the chef and the server arguing over cooking me a replacement. Then the server came out and was relaying this to the man behind the bar which was very uncomfortable so I told them to cancel the replacement as it was very off putting, upon this I had two staff going over the menu to find out the menu in the kitchen is not the same as the menu on the table. This was then relayed back to me as if I had ordered incorrectly, also there was items missing from our meals which we weren’t informed about until me asked where they were to then be told the server should have told us they have ran out.Then we asked for the bill we were happy to pay for what we had eaten and drank but not for the main meals the guy behind the bar was outraged and didn’t seem to understand we didn’t come to eat here separately, he made no secret about being angry about this and if he had pushed the screen any harder it would have cracked! Customer service was shocking and the food was terrible I’ve seen they are charging £70 for a Christmas Day dinner if the staff aren’t happy to work a Tuesday night I can’t imagine they will be happy to work Christmas Day!

Came where with my family for a sunday roast was one of the best ive had in a long time unlimited roasts and gravy definitely the way to do it already booked for christmas dinner. The staff are very respectable and polite will always say to my friends to try this place its all in all great

Lamb shoulder and cod loin both good, both thin on veggies as was lobster bisque. Lovely chips. Puds great. Service good but experience spoiled by being under a speaker blasting out music (?). Eventually turned down a bit after 3 requests. Quite quiet for Thursday lunchtime.

Family Sunday lunch for 6 people. Table service got drinks wrong to start with, then food was served within 5 mins of placing order Wrong food given to two people but so much gravy you could not see the meat. Desserts we wanted had run out all in all very poor experience

It’s a hard pass, unfortunately. I had high hopes for this place since it changed hands and the menu was refreshed. Staff were nice but, and it’s a big but.. Saturday peak time afternoon, payday weekend… One person behind the bar and one waitress. I don’t know what was going on but it was a mess. Mains arrived at different times so it ruined the meal out with my partner. When food did arrive it was cold. It was sent back to kitchen, I expected it to be a fresh plate but it was simply heated up, rendering the steak well done instead of medium. Add to the fact it was a gristly nasty steak. Onion rings were also way overdone. I suspect they were just too busy and short staffed on the day but I won’t be going back, nor taking friends and family to the establishment. Menu and branding give a slick impression but the delivery fall way way short of it. If it’s just drinks you are after, then that would be fine.

Booked on line, seating was a slow but not helped by customers just sitting at any table. Service was slow but the pub was incredibly busy. Staff friendly but rather chaotic. Food fabulous and you just need to go with the flow, especially on a Sunday!

We came as 2 couples and all our meals were disappointing and we couldn’t eat the cauliflower cheese which looked as though the cheese sauce had been made by melting a burger cheese slice on top of rubbery cauliflower. The gravy on the sausages was congealed and the sausages were barely cooked and then microwaved. We definitely wouldn’t go back.

Iwas very disappointed with my " Sweet Potatoe and Beetroot Tortellini" My plate had just 5 tortellinis sitting on a very shallow tomato and pepper sauce with a little crumble feta style sheese The tortellinis were not cooked properly. Only the part of the tortellinis in contact with the sauce was cooked, the rest was just a dry / hard pasta. I had to ask for the tortellinis to be cooked again. Unfortunately, only the part en contact with the sauce benefited from being reheated The taste of the filling inside the tortellinis was okay. I feel to pay £13.50 for 5 uncooked tortellinis is not fair. I did mention my concern to two of the people working there.
