Finally after years of neglect, indifferent service and most local customers not inclined to patronise the “Shoes “ the pub lease has been taken by a group of local residents in order to maintain this pub as a community asset. In these desperate economic times anyone it takes a brave person to attempt to lure folks away from their homes to visit their local. However all has gone very well indeed with the Shoes now open 7 days a week as a pub and from 3-5 pm as a coffee n cake shop. In addition to the various food vans that park up in front freshly cooked food is available on Friday and Saturday nights. The ‘ new Shoes ‘ has proven most popular with new and ‘ex customers alike. As a village pub dogs are plentiful and with a large fenced garden behind it will be an ideal location for children. In these days of pubs closing it is so refreshing to have our last public house thriving!

We were visiting NT Wimpole and came here instead and we weren’t disappointed. There was a cafe within the pub. A good selection of cakes etc and a menu offering jacket potatoes. My wife and I had one each and they were delicious. 5 toppings were available too. For the real ale drinkers there were 4 on offer. I went for the TT Landlord and it was an excellent pint. There were offerings from local producers too. We will return on our next visit to Wimpole.

So pleased it has reopened and under new management, totally transformed into an amazing village pub as it once was. Great selection of food vans on rotation as well as great baguettes, jackets ans sweet treats during the day, oh and great selection of beer. Looking forward to the future and hope to see more local breweries involved (appreciate it's tied). Spring and summer here is amazing with the huge family friendly garden. Cheers.

Visited this morning for a Friday morning cuppa and a slice of cake with friends. We don’t have a café in the village so this new service is a great idea. I arrived before my friends and was welcomed with big smiles, a good selection of cakes, and good service. There was no decaf coffee option but was told that would arrive soon, and offered decaf tea. Overall great service, a warm welcome and good value. Thank you.

This pub under the new ownership since the summer is a must go. A real village pub with a great atmosphere, visited here 18months ago and swore I wouldn't return. Passing through I saw that the pub had been renovated on the outside giving it a new lease of life. My boys loved the huge garden, the staff were welcoming, great range of soft and alcoholic drinks and the food van was a real unexpected surprise. Definitely going to make a return visit on my next visit to the area.

Not made to feel welcome at all. Having moved to the village in January we had driven past the pub a few times and decided that we would go for a meal with my partner and her sister with her children. On arrival to the pub we asked if we could have a table for food and we’re told they were only doing take away food, but we lady behind the bar said that she could fit us in between the take away meals being cooked. As the weather was nice and sunny we asked if we could sit outside and we’re told no, they are not doing food outside and given a choice of two tables to sit at in the bar. While we were waiting for food another group of people walked in and they asked about food and were straight away told they are doing food there will be a little wait but they can have a table anywhere in the bar or outside. The quality of the food was not fantastic and don’t think the portions were value for money. I was also extremely ill overnight and the next day. We will not be returning and would recommend people go elsewhere.

I have been calling the pub in a moment of desperation asking if I could access a free meal due to being at risk of being critically unwell as a result of adversity impacting on my ability to access local services, including food. I have been welcomed to join the pub for a free meal, however upon arrival the individual, the wife of the owner of the pub, has lied right to my face with regards to offering me a free meal even though at the same time when asking for clarifications admitted to knowing that I have telephone called to have a meal offered in the first place. I am a vulnerable young woman, at risk of homelessness, intelligent, being in a place to aim to prevent an aggravation in my health however I am afraid the dishonesty and pure maliciousness on the part of whoever has been serving greeting me has been beyond tolerability impacting on my psychological wellbeing in a negative way, aggravating my health concerns. As a result, I am in a crisis I don’t know to address. I’d be cautious when using the services of the pub aforementioned particularly if you value good qualities in life, or if you care about a vulnerable person at risk in the community.

Absolutely amazing place. We ate outside and it was an amazing atmosphere. It wasn’t too busy so food came promptly and tasted amazing! I ordered a burger and I haven’t tasted food like that in a long time. The burger was juicy, the bun was light and fluffy and it overall tasted gorgeous. We then ordered dessert and the menu was amazing. Lots of varied desserts for people with different taste; sticky toffee pudding, chocolate fudge cake and Bakewell tart. All the food tasted so good and we plan on coming back as soon as possible. This wasn’t our first time as we visited twice before so the owner knows us and remembered us from our last visit back in February. Arrived at a fairly empty establishment considering it was a Saturday night. The landlord who served us could not have looked more miserable or disinterested in us providing them business, whilst the other bar lady was drinking at the other side of the bar and not serving customers. We asked for food but they said that the kitchen was shut. For a British pub to not serve food after 7pm is something of a first for me, especially on a Saturday. Asking some locals they said nobody really comes here for the food and that was clearly apparent as there was only a few people drinking when we were there anyway. I think the people running the pub could show a bit more enthusiasm and actually crack a smile rather than looking like a Christmas Scrooge! Then again, if I was running a pub that was that dead every Saturday night I’d probably look like that too! Wouldn’t recommend this pub, the little rose, white horse and surrounding villages have high quality pubs, Friendly service and actually serve food past 7. We did however get told the pub doesn’t even have a chef, which clearly shows the lack of effort and willingness the landlords are putting into running a pub! Much better options elsewhere, don’t waste your time giving business to two very unappreciative and miserable landlords!

Can recommend garlic mushrooms and the leek and potato soup. Then the mains were bought to the table and wow....the Scampi my friend said were the best. My other half had the homemade steak and ale pie and he practically licked the plate clean. The lamb shank just fell off the bone. All in all a wonderful meal finished off with gorgeous sweets. If we were in the area for a bit longer we would definitely go again. But we're hoping the sun will shine long enough for us to get the bbq out before we have to go home. Our other halves can be really cheeky characters at times, but the owners and even a few of the locals took it on the chin and really made us feel welcome. If in the area again we wil pop in.

The food was very nice, served quickly and hot.The pub is nicely finished inside and was a very pleasant place to spend a lunchtime. I have no doubt that we will be going back.

I visited The Three Horseshoes for the first time with my father. We sampled both the real ales. They were spot on and in fantastic quality. We then ordered lunch and it quickly arrived. The food was hot and very tasty. The land lady was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. I hope to return soon.

I would like to congratulate this pub for all their hard work in turning it around into a good village pub. Menu is basic and well delivered, beers are of a good quality with at least two real ales on offer. Atmosphere is always welcoming so long may it continue well done!

I dropped into this pub with my family because I wanted a simple honest Sunday lunch with a couple of pints of bitter. I had not been before, but on a Sunday there are always a lot of cars outside, which I thought was a good sign. The pub had a friendly local crowd, people playing cards, a couple of locals laughing over a pint. I went with my well behaved small children who were welcomed. I had roast beef and a couple of pints of IPA. The roast beef was excellent value for money with a generous portion of veg and a big yorkshire pudding - it all tasted great. The IPA was similarly very very good. Top it off with nice bar staff and it was perfect!

My daughter and my dog decided a visit here was long overdue as Zoe has lived nearby for a year and has not visited. We were uncertain if Tintin would be welcome . He was welcome as the lunch service was nearly over. The Landlady explained that in full service the small pub could not have dogs , but that they were welcome at other times. I expect that if you want to bring a dog it is good to book a late table when most have finished their meals. I had the beef and Zoe had the Lamb . Tintin was provided with a Boneo and a few scraps left by us. We enjoyed the reasonably priced lunch with lots of gravy given in a jug to add as we wanted. I will add a picture of my plate .This is a lovely little pub with a happy collection of locals using it.

I live in the village and eat and drink quite often here. I've always found the food to be good and the staff to be friendly and welcoming. In the summer the garden is particularly beautiful but the update to the interior now means it feels clean and cosy inside too. Would recommend.

I was early for an appointment in Comberton today so called into this pub at 1.45 pm to lose some time and feeling rather cold. I have passed it before but it often seemed closed when others are open. There was one car parked outside. The external appearance is ramshackle but the interior looked acceptable. The pub was empty but for the lady behind the bar, who seemed to brighten when I made some flippant remark. Apart from us the pub was empty. As I was driving and had an appointment I politely asked for a cup of coffee and was rather shocked when she refused me because the kitchen was about to close. The point is that IT WAS NOT CLOSED WHEN I ORDERED! I cannot imagine that there was a chef there to do it and in any event the bar lady didn't have anything else to do. I thus assumed that she just could not be bothered to make it for me. I thus left without further comment.I couldn't find another pub or cafe in the village so contented myself with a bar of chocolate from the local convenience store.I shall not trouble that establishment again.

Good Food in a pub that had a friendly feel about it. 6 people staying on a local campsite had a lovely evening. The food came hot and quickly after we had ordered from a good menu. Have been before and would definitely go again.

After a recommendation from the campsite we were staying at 25 mins up the road, we decided to visit on a Saturday evening. The pub has a really nice decor/layout with a good sized beer garden and a wide range of dishes on offer. More importantly it is dog friendly. We opted for scampi and chips and a chickpea squash and spinach curry. The vegetarian choices were fantastic on the whole (according to the other half!)Both were absolutely fantastic and served quickly and with manners. In fact all staff were polite to a fault, especially the barman. Really refreshing to experience this time and again in Cambridgeshire and it makes us want to keep returning. The scampi was cooked to perfection, the chips were light and fluffy and the peas perfect. Even the Tartare sauce was 10/10. Very rare to get every component spot on for such a 'simple dish'. This is something most pubs can't produce as they often take their eye off the ball. Can't believe the negative review previously re 'phone charger gate'. A good job we weren't in - they'd of left long before they did, trust me. Can't stand idiots who spout 'reverse racism' when they don't get their own way. Sad times we live in.Highly recommend. Keep up the oustanding work!

Visited the three horseshoes after not going for 3 years. It appears there is new mnagement. The pub itself has had a face lift since I was last here and looks amazing, beer taste good and the beer garde. As ways was beautiful as the sun went down. The food however was horrible, chips cooked horrible and the burger was not to my tasting. It all looked and tasted very cheap compared to the beautiful bar food the prevoious owners used to serve. The experience for me was not great!
