Delicious Sunday roast. Everything cooked to perfection.

Friendly staff. Very average food. Didn't stay very long. For a quick pub meal it's perfect. But not for a special occasion.

We had the most excellent meal at The Belle this evening. The seabass special was outstanding and the service from Helen was superb.

Had a business meeting locally and googled somewhere local for a sandwich before heading back home. The Belle was nearest and what a great choice! Sandwiches were first class and great value. Interesting local connection with the WWII Memphis Belle Flying Fortress stationed locally and subject of the film of the same name. Very friendly staff and will certainly call again when in the area. Thanks

Family of 9 had a New Years Day Dinner at the Belle, food was so good, most of us had the roasts and they were excellent! Nut Roast was especially good for the veggies!! Will definetely be back !!

Went to a funeral reception there, lovely buffet, nice and wide variety of beers and wines. Helpful staff, historic pub, 2nd world war pilots scratched their names on pub windows and wrote little ditties, with their diamond rings, before flying off to fight the Battle of Britain. Photos and pictures devoted to their memory.

Could no fault it . So lovely and inviting right from the start . Our meal was fantastic and we wouldn't hesitate to come back again

Just came here for dinner on a Saturday. Food was really great and it's a lovely place to be in. I highly recommend the Belle burger :)

Visited with friends who live nearby on a Sunday lunchtime. All had a roast - 2 pork and 2 beef and they got a very big thumbs up from all of us. There was plenty of tender meat, the roast potatoes were excellent and I didn’t have to ask for extra gravy. Add to the great food a tastefully decorated restaurant and fantastic service and you have a perfect Sunday

Lovely lunch at the Belle. Varied menu and high quality, good veggie/vegan choices. Has been fitted out really nicely. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Perfect for a nice meal or a chilled drink.

Family get together. Lovely venue, great food with excellent hospitality. Was given a warm welcome, nothing was a problem (even with a baby). Prices very reasonable and very tasty food enjoyed by all 6 of us . Definitely visit again.

Having recently had a change of management the food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Not an extensive menu but something for everyone including Gluten Free and Vegan options. The bar staff are attentive and are on the ball if you are at the bar and your glass is nearly empty to take the time to ask if you would like another drink.

Came here tonight with Mrs and little boy. Didn't start great, went for the ribeye which I ordered medium it arrived still alive. Uncertain what happened to the mushrooms they were actually harder than the table? How does that even happen. Had a word with the waitress who I think gave chef a few words and a very different ribeye came out the kitchen... Thick juicy ribeye cooked perfect, homemade peppercorn sauce and a freshly grilled flat mushroom. If they had served this first time round I'd of given 5 star but can't on the back of the first attempt. Kids meal was a think quite expensive at £10 but it is what it is. Mrs enjoyed her teriyaki noodles. Nice pub, 4 star and credit to waitress for bringing this review back from the dead.

Had lunch at this lovely, friendly country pub yesterday. Ordered the roast beef and it was absolutely beautifully cooked and presented. Beef was tender and the veg, served separately was perfectly cooked. Staff were attentive and the atmosphere was great. Lovely garden with lots to occupy the kids. Excellent place for a sunny afternoon. Will be returning and can recommend without hesitation.

I am so pleased to change my previous reveiw , the whole pub has had a refresh a d its back to its full glory as a proper pub. The staff are lovely, and the drinks are fair priced . Will be going back again and again ............it has now had a lovely upgrade to garden area really makes it a lovely place to go in the sun

Fantastic meal on the way through Bassingbourn. As a vegetarian the one thing I miss is fish, so when I saw the ‘Tofish’, it had to be tried. Excellent flavour and texture 👌🏻 Really well thought out dishes and great quality.

We had a lovely family roast dinner on Mother’s Day. Everything was as it should be!! Friendly staff, delicious food and a great selection of wines. We shall return!

Really nice place to be on a Tuesday night - very quiet, closed at 10 (probably why it was quiet) but nice place and wonderful service from the barman.

Went for Sunday lunch a few weeks back, there was one other table in the restaurant, it took 15 mins to get a drink and the lady seated another table of 2 and 5 after us, she went to the table of 2 first for a drinks order (we still hadn’t been asked what we wanted to drink so we went to the bar to get a drink instead) then she took the table of 5 and table of 2 food order ignored our table and walked off, that’s no way to treat customers. Safe to say we paid for our drinks and walked out Terrible service would not go back here

The pub was a very nice environment in terms of decor and cleanliness but the food was not great. My husband had a pizza and he said he seemed to be homemade and was nice but my burger was not very good at all.

Great service and the chicken shish was an Amazing dish! So nice to have something different to the std pub food!

Went to the belle solely for chicken wings, saw the menu had a sharing plate for 2-3 people portion of wings, didn’t mind the fact paying 14 quid for 2-3 person portion of wings until they arrived. A measles 6 wings between 3 people is absurd this was clearly not enough wings and we were all appalled to find 2 wings each. Disgusted However the wings were amazing spicy and crispy absolute perfect absolutely delicious. However this does not deter from the fact that 6 wings is not enough for two to three people.

Have just been for Sunday dinner, my wife wanted the veggie roast but it came with duck fat roast potatoes, so not suitable for vegetarians and there was no alternative on offer. My roast beef dinner was more like a children's portion and they had all ready run out of some veg even though it was only 1pm and the gravy was like coloured water with no flavour at all . On the other hand the service was good ,but they were over stretched . Sadly will not be rushing back anytime soon .

Bathroom light cover missing One bathroom hand towel Bedroom Blind cord broken Kitchen extractor fan cover disgusting very greasy, dusty and light broken Dirty oven Grill area with burnt food & crumbs No washing liquid/towels unable to clean utensils did not use breakfast box. No staff on Sunday 9am pub doors chained up Dinner Reason for booking The Belle as advertised as “Gastro Pub”, and my wife and I wanted a long awaited post lock down special night. Online menu and the actual menu are very different. Waited over 20+mins to take order and approx.30mins later, waiter returned, as order had been lost. Ordered Goat cheese , straight out of the fridge , rocket salad was in a terrible state , extremally curly with yellow leaves., and inedible. For mains we both had Fish & Chips , both portions of chips under cooked/hard, inedible the table next to us had the same issue and sent theirs back. Very honest & direct feedback given to stand in manager Jerome (from Hummingbird , Herts but leaving shortly). Very apologetic, adjusted our bill. But not aware of the £30 I had paid upfront. Having paid £170 we feel truly ripped off, and looking forward to hearing from the Belle team.

I have just returned from Sunday lunch at this establishment and would never go there again except for perhaps a drink. The Sunday lunch was £12.95 which is fairly average for the area but the food was below average in taste and volume. The plates were cold which meant that the food was just warm and the helpings were what most places would consider child size. The cauliflower cheese did not appear to have been anywhere near any cheese and was watery. and the carrots were overdone and tasteless. This establishment by calling itself a gastro pub clearly has delusions,

This place we visited for a quick lunch and ended up with a great selection of food, great drinks, great desserts, the decor is lush and cosy, staff were great and very attentive. Definitely recommend.

Nice gastropub. Well behaved dog was welcomed in the bar area to enjoy great Sunday Roast. Unique decor and thought the food was very tasty.

Three courses with free flowing prosecco for £30. In the past drinks service has been a little slow but Amber was great. Food was really good and she was very attentive on the drinks service. A very enjoyable and good value evening, thanks!

Went here with my other half for a date night… the decor was great! Obsessed with the Lemur wallpaper! Service was a bit slow but had a lovely (and frank) conversation with what seemed to be the manager. She openly said she was part of the ‘sister company’ and confessed how difficult it has been coming out of the pandemic with suppliers and more importantly staff being pinged. To be honest I did feel sorry for her but nonetheless we were there to have a date night… food was lovely and the cocktails were tasty

Had the Sunday roast, portions were quite small. The vegetables were cooked very lightly as I like them. The cauliflower cheese was just, well, cauliflower, no cheese. Menu in general is a bit fussy, decor is very dark and depressing. Won't rush back.

You couldn’t write this but I’m gonna try. We were the only table and a table of 6, we ordered drinks starters and mains. Within 30 mins of arrival we recieved the drinks . Then they messed up the starter order - forgot the order conpletely. They then brought out the starters for 4 of the 6 people, not including the pregnant lady in the party. Once the mains arrived, again not for the pregnant lady or one of the others, we waited a further 30mins. The Staff was careless and in organised. We have never left a restaurant and returned home to have cheese and tomato sandwich. After spending £180 . Drinks were poor , food was below average and service was disgraceful. Do not go to this restaurant ……..

Beautiful decor throughout. Lovely junior suite accommodation with excellent facilities. Coffee maker with plenty of pods and good selection of teas as well as a great breakfast box consisting of a full English breakfast in the room.

Good food and service. Nice surroundings. It's not a cheap lunch though.

Finally I had the pleasure to go back to The Belle and try their famous Sunday roast, it was great, richly flavoured meat, crispy and fluffy potatoes, tasty veg, great Yorkie pud and plenty of the tastiest meat gravy I had in a long time....

We were supposed to go the Belle on the evening of Thursday 21 of June for our 43rd wedding anniversary, they phoned and cancelled as the kitchen was out of order despite the disappointment we re booked for Sunday lunch, we both had the beef lunch the food was like the service .. Spot on .. I would recommend anyone passing through Bassingbourn to stop off at the Belle

A group of 6 of us went to The Belle on a Sunday afternoon. The portion size for the roast was very large and the 2 who had roasts enjoyed their meal. 3 of us had the superfood salad and it was very disappointing unfortunately....

Phenomenal venue, phenomenal decor, phenomenal service, phenomenal food. What a well hidden secret. The coolest “village pub” I’ve ever been to. Great menu, good drinks in draught, and flexible seating indoors and outs. Booked to return before we’d left! Worth going out of your way...

Had a booking for Sunday 5pm in the restaurant. Arrived to be told the kitchen had closed. No explanation or apology, luckily a pub 10 mins walk away was serving.

Although the food was very tasty, some of the meal sizes, for the cost, are very small. The crayfish cocktail is served on a 2 inch slice of toasted bread with about a tablespoon of crayfish on top and costs £12.95. Some of the mains...

Another fabulous takeaway Sunday roast from the Belle! This should be a thing always, not just during a pandemic - Makes a Sunday so much more pleasant not spending hours in the kitchen and the food was way way better than my roast ever is!!!...

Ordered this wonderful delux takeaway box for a special night in and was extremely impressed! Full of the most delicious food from figs, cured meats, beautiful cheeses and the macaroons are to die for! Will absolutely be having this again 😋

David and the team make this pub/ restaurant a fabulous place to eat and drink. Will miss our nights here during lockdown, can’t wait to come back in December ❤️❤️

We celebrated a family birthday at The Belle this week and had a really lovely evening. I particularly enjoyed the mixed vegetable and Stilton wellington. The service we received was excellent and I loved chatting to the staff!

We have been wanting to find a local gem for some time but most establishments in the area seem somewhat bland or missing something in either quality of food, service or ambience. I must say the Belle delivered on all expectations with friendly and knowledgable...

Sunday we visited The Belle. What I can say is WOW!! the service, food , atmosphere was great. We ordered kids Sunday lamb roast the portion is just right. Two adults lamb and beef the meat came out so tender to perfection! Also two starters...

Last Sunday we went to the Belle for Sunday roast, the only think I can say is: it ticked all the boxes !!! Service ✅ decor ✅ food ✅✅the braised lamb shoulder melted in the mouth, the sauce was something amazing, highly recommended, it was a very good experience.

Went to the belle on Friday night for the first time. The pub itself was really nice. The menu and the prices gave the impression of high quality. I ordered a crayfish cocktail at £9 and fish and chips at £16. Typical pub food that generally most pubs seem to master.The crayfish cocktail looked like something that had been dumped out of an M&S sandwich on to some shredded iceberg lettuce and was tiny. Tasted ok but very disappointed for the price.Similar with the fish and chips, tasted nice but was very small on a great big plate. I am not sure what I was paying for. Majority of local pubs such as the Woodman Inn or Fox and Duck do lovely food that is on another level and much cheaper.Wouldnt recommend wasting your money here.

First visit to the pub/restaurant. Nice setting and lovely décor. Good service and food was more than acceptable. Also enjoyed the background music.I was pleased to see the bar area was quite busy and the restaurant well filled given the social distancing measures that were being observed. My only criticism was that my beer was just going off with hints of vinegar, however, it was changed without fuss and the replacement (as well as the subsequent one) was beautiful. Unfortunately this happens with real ale which is why a healthy bar area is important.Encouraging first visit and will certainly go again.

Kids back at school so decided to go for kid free lunch with my husband. We were in a bit of a rush so only had a main, and it was very good food! The fish was cooked perfectly and so fresh. The staff were lovely , so friendly and chatty - it makes such a difference to the whole experience! Would definitely recommend for a mid week lunch! We also had a takeaway from here a couple of weeks ago and again, couldn’t fault the food!

It was great to be able to return to The Belle. Unknown to us they were continuing 'eat out to help out' so even better value with the choice of 'eat out' menu or a la carte. The goat cheesecake was a fresh tasting and unusual starter. The fish and chips were delicious with excellent batter and chips with skins on. Sadly too full to try pudding. Staff are smart and charming. No attempt to put pressure on or hurry us. The decor is colourful, welcoming and attention to detail. There is plenty of outside space for outside dining and a Good size car park. Would like more GF options on the 'eat out' menu. Effectively only one choice of starter and main and both were fish, but there were more options on the a la carte. A mocktail menu might be a Good idea too for those of us who drive. Lovely lunch .

We visited The Belle today. They have kindly extended the eat out to help out govt scheme so we made the most of the offer for lunch today. The service was impeccable, as it is every time we visit. Friendly and professional. The food was delicious, the batter on the fish was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. Just such a welcoming atmosphere in amongst beautiful surroundings.

We chose the Belle for our first family gathering since lockdown. We had a comfortable table under cover in the garden with plenty of room for appropriate social distancing whilst still able to chat comfortably.Service was friendly and efficient. Food was well presented and tasty. Highlights included the Buffalo Mozzarella, the Sea Bream, and the Panna Cotta, but all our menu choices were good.We will be returning soon!

The food was absolutely 10/10 Service was great, very friendly and polite Great communication and cleanliness was A+. Would highly recommend The Belle to friends and family. You will not be disappointed

Will never recommend to even my worst enemy. Overpriced. Food is falsley advertised as it's nothing like what was served. How people have rated this high is beyond my understanding. Our sirloin on the bone was less than half an inch thick, the potato & bacon salad was literally 5 pieces of new potatoes with about 4 tiny bits of crisped bacon. No garnish, no dressing, the burgers were tiny, they ran out of chips but automatically put us fried sweet potato assuming we liked them. I took family out as a treat and not one person was satisfied. Very embarrassed for not only myself but for the establishment. It was overall bland, tasteless & unappetising. Just look at the photo of the swordfish. Our Gins came with a branch of unwashed mint leaving tiny black flies floating in our drinks.

Fantastic hidden gem- we have wanted to try for a while and were blown away! discussing we have been talking about fantastic service and very personable, all the staff were smartly dressed and the place was so well furnished throughout, food was on point will certainly be heading back as soon as possible!

Lovely place and great service. Unfortunately there was only one vegan option on the menu. It was over priced and it was supposed to be a chickpea burger. But it was like eating a bun with whole chickpeas that fell apart as I was eating it, it was also bland and had little salad. I wish they had more options as I would eat there again.

I came here recently with my family and we had a wonderful time! Me and my brother were served quickly by very friendly staff. The new cocktails were really nice and well presented - and quite reasonably priced. The outside seating area looks really nice and is generally a nice area to sit in! We also ordered food which was lovely and very quick to arrive.

Popped in on the off chance for lunch last Saturday. Were checked in and left contact details at the door which took seconds to do. Downloaded and used the App to order, took minutes and was easy to useSat in the garden which was very well socially distanced had a lovely lunch and drink.Service was fast and safeWould recommend a visit

The Belle pub, cocktail spot and eatery, (which I’ve reviewed very positively before), is now offering a take away service for food and drink. The big lockdown had originally closed the venue like all other pubs and restaurants, but opening up again in this limited guise, my family and I decided to give it a whirl. One daughter had the Pub Classic Burger, another opted for the Duck, (delicious sauce) and my wife and I chose the excellent Italian Night-In meal for 2 which included three courses and Italian sourced ingredients. My goodness, the meat sauce and home-made pasta was divine. Quantity was just right too (and not a pig-out) which is a real positive in my opinion. The masterful Venetian chef there prepares his dishes with love and the new take away dishes, like the restaurant fare we’ve enjoyed before, didn’t disappoint.Drinks - wines, beers, cocktail kits are also available.Ordering is done in advance using an online system and all worked fine.The prices are competitive for the quality and taste. I heartily recommend the current offering and will be back.

Went back to The Belle - this time for Sunday lunch. It was superb and reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Staff as always were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant, bar and toilet facilities immaculate. I took a group of 9 family members to celebrate my birthday and everyone had a great meal with one person commenting it was the best roast dinner he’d ever had (which didn’t go down well with his wife..!). Highly recommend.

Time and time again the food at the Belle is faultless and the service is brilliant!On this visit yesterday, I particularly enjoyed the fantastic Malloreddus, a typical Sardinian pasta dish.You’ll see me again and I am really hoping you will do another food tasting soon.Don’t miss out, this place is a gem.

I attended the valentines evening at the belle and it was such a brilliant experience, you could tell the whole evening had a lot of thought and detail put into it, the staff were very attentive and the waitresses explained every course upon delivering it to your table, the food was wonderfully done and very nice and the drinks were perfectly matched to the food. The building itself is beautiful it’s very modern and glam but has a cosy feel. I would definitely recommend if your looking for somewhere special to go for a celebration or just somewhere for date night. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing evening.

Having been here before and enjoyed the food it feels different a new chef? Service was good but the food was a let down took too long to arrive and when it did it was disappointing and bland won't be returning

A pub that we can call our local, it’s just across the road & over number of years we’ve seen a few changes. Being a “decent” cook (my wife says I’m slightly better than that) I sometimes struggle to enjoy Sunday roasts but I have to say this was the best I’ve had by a country mile. The beef was cooked to perfection & the vegetables were plentiful too & packed full of flavour. I finished my meal with a very tasty cheese board & a rather sumptuous old fashioned cocktail.... the Chilean merlot paired well with the main & dessert too

The pub has had a make over for the better and has a wonderful vibrant interior. The drinks menu is very varied however extremely disappointing the limits on wine by the glass no Pinot Grigio unless prepared to buy a bottle or drink the Rose. Difficult to find a seat because number of children playing when all you want to do is wind down. However the ambiance, staff and lively atmosphere make it well worth a visit. Lovely

Myself and a friend went to the Belle for the 1st time on Saturday 25th Jan, on the Burns night taster menu. It was 5 courses, each with a paired drink to compliment the food. We were both sure we would not like some of the items on the menu, but were proved wrong, as everything was presented and cooked perfectly. We even enjoyed the haggis (something I said I would not be trying beforehand)!The Belle is beautifully decorated, has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and the cocktails are great too.We had a very enjoyable evening, and look forward to returning soon.Glad to have found such a lovely place locally.

went to the Belle on a whim and it was fabulous. Calamari melted in the mouth, followed by a delicious pork main.I had mushroom soup that really tasted like mushroom soup should taste and followed by a main of Venison ragu and pasta which I could have eaten twice.Definitely going back in the near future. This is a place I rate highly.

Myself and my friend went for a lovely meal at the Belle. It was their burns night menu. The food was amazing and we both tried things we never normally would have. The service was brilliant and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The drinks were lovely, had a brilliant selection of wines and gin. The cocktails were also delicious. We had a great eve and are looking forward to planning our next eve there.

Hadn't been to this pub for a long while and was happy to see that the new owners have made such a great effort with the interior. As we came in we were pleasently surprised by the lovely seating options and the lush decor!

We tried The Belle for Sunday lunch as we had not been before and had heard mixed reviews. The restaurant was spacious, warm and tastefully decorated. The staff were very friendly and smartly dressed. We both chose the roast beef, which was well presented and delicious. My sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream was divine!! We would definitely go again and would recommend.

We visited to celebrate my husband’s birthday and this is our third visit since the new chef joined the Belle team (as a larger group & as a couple). The menu had a good variety of interesting dishes on offer and the presentation and service did not disappoint. We both had the scallops, which melted in the mouth and the mains were equally delicious (full of flavour and fresh ingredients). Such a treat to have some good quality food on offer on our doorstep and a great change from the traditional ‘pub grub’ (there are traditional options too on the menu).

I have been at the Belle few days ago and I have to say that was high level food that you can expect in London best restaurants.The beef fillet I ordered was perfection and the mash potatoes remind me of the Robuchon recipe (which are consider the best in the world), my wife beetroot and goat cheese was a masterpiece.In London they say that you can’t get great food in the countryside, well I found someone who can cook great food indeed!A friend told me they do tasting menus as well! I won’t miss the next one.I will be back as soon as possible.Thank you guys

Cambridge is cosmopolitan, with beautiful architecture and great shops, but this is the best restaurant (just a short drive away from the city).
