Visted today on passing by, Greeted by the restaurant manager Emma who was friendly & welcoming & showed us to our table she recommended a few dishes to us. Food arrived nice & hot, well presented served to us by Nath again very friendly & polite. The Cheesy chips were to die for definitely a good recommendation of the upgrade. We were looked after by Jo who couldn't do enough for you extremely friendly. Definitely will be going back.

Had breakfast this morning as we were driving from Wolverhampton. We had no problem getting a seat. The food was so nice and fresh. We were looked after by a few of the staff They were so friendly and welcoming especially Nathan, jaz, and Liz.

I had the roast beef Sunday lunch today with extra potatoes, yorkshires and gravy. Great food prepared by chef Ryan! And excellent customer service from Jo! Definitely coming back for Sunday lunch again.

Mixed experiences at this place but, today was the exception. The service was good as was the food.. Someone called Chris was very attentive. He went the extra mile to give us a good dining experience. He gave the impression that every customer was important. Something that is looking in far too many restaurants nowadays.

Very poor service at Beefeater, Newport. Our family came out to celebrate my birthday, the guy who serviced our table didn’t use pen to write down our order. Both me and my husband have questioned “do you need a pen to write it down?” He said “no, I will remember”. After nearly one hour waiting for our meal (not busy at the restaurant on a Tuesday night), my steak came as medium rather than well done (I ordered well done but he said I ordered medium-because he didn’t write it down and didn’t remember). I can’t eat steak with blood and never ordered stake cooked as medium. The girl who took my plate to kitchen didn’t apologies and the guy who serviced our table didn’t apologise until 25 minutes later when I asked to pay and wanted to leave (meal still not be serviced). All in all, very poor service from your team tonight! Obviously disappointed and wasted time. My birthday has been totally ruined!

Came in on Saturday evening and I can honestly say we’ve never had better service in all our years coming to the Three Fishes. Chris was our waiter and made sure we were happy and smiling at all points of our evening, very attentive and the rest of the customers near us seemed to love him! Credit to the business

Pleasant, cosy atmosphere. Staff availability was good, Emma was extremely efficient and friendly. Vegetable lasagne and chocolate brownie delicious and price was even better using a loyalty birthday money off voucher.

I have stayed in this hotel /restaurant loads due to working in this area Hotel is great friendly staff and the restaurant is very good the food is always nice and the staff are great polite friendly and professional especially the older lady who runs breakfast in the morning and this evening the lady called Jasmine was really nice and friendly great customer service I highly recommended

Came here last night for tea with my family. We had the chicken combo & a burger. Food was lovely & Fresh. We was served by a girl called Leah, she was lovely & attentive. Would definitely recommend and will return in the future.

Very poor service and poor food, Amy Winehouse lookalike server is very slow and not very happy and clearly never attended a customer service course in her life and all other staff were grumpy and unhappy and definitely made for an horrible atmosphere,food service very slow and sat on hot plate for 15 mins before serving because they are very slow and food served cold, toilets very dirty and unhygienic. New management needed!!

Good value breakfast for all the family. Not THE best breakfast I've had but for the money and choice for kids it's a winner.

We got there at 12 noon opening time for lunch there was 4 people already there we was put by a window table there was left over food on the floor we had coke for drinks that did not smell right the lime in it looked old and brown the food was not much better , macs is down the road much better and cleaner

We frequently visit Three Fish, Newport and, without exception, food and service is first class. All staff members are friendly, courteous and attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Brought soft drink for wife to be told it's refillable, said we only having one drink. But made to pay over £4 for half lemonade

We booked for a meal on Boxing day just wanting a simple meal after a long day, to be told its only the festive menu available, to then go to other an some of the menu isn't available! Staff seemed to have the grumps altho the bartender that night was very bubbly. Our festive mains, 1 arrived almost suitable for a child and the other was only just warm. the hottest food on the plates was the chunky chips! Rumor has it that this Beefeater will be going soon but still no need for poor service. Our friend had a meal here the week before and got food poisoning from there festive menu which is why we didn't really want to have it. Over the last year we have noticed the service and food going down hill which is a shame as with it being semi part of the hotel and handy for there guests it is sad to see it go this way. Fingers crossed it gets taken over and everything improves asap.

The whole team have given us a fabulous Christmas Day lunch experience, the service was awesome, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food all came out together hot and really tasty. Been here loads of times service has definitely gone down hill i haven't seen Vicky for a long time who worked their so presume she's no longer their which is a massive shame The waiting staff are just about adequate in the evenings not great

We had our Christmas gathering today. We were a party of 15 and SOMEA mainly served our table. She was attentive and considered as she took our orders. My dietary adaptations were dealt with and my food was delicious. Only tiny fault was my coffee could have been hotter to finish my meal off perfectly. The other staff I spoke to were helpful and pleasant too. This was my first time here. I intend to come again and bring my mom to see what she thinks. Merry Christmas and well done to you all.

We popped in for lunch having taken my aging parents to the adjacent garden centre. No issues with obtaining a table. The food was reasonably priced compared to many other "chains" and we had no complaints about the meals or service. I'd go again. I don't think think the place deserves some of the more negative comments on this thread.

Fabulously succulent sirloin steak, absolutely delicious! It was cooked perfectly to how I like it. The gammon was equally tasty. We did notice that portion sizes of the chips seem to have gone right down since our previous visits, and we had ordered from the main menu not the specials. The triple cooked chips were really good however. The staff member serving us was really friendly and attentive. The car park is shared with the hotel nextdoor. There is wheelchair friendly parking.

Travelled from Chester to meet relatives with 103yr old mother who were empathetic with her. Jo as our waitress was excellent as we're other staff and the food was enjoyed by all 5 people in group

Booked in advance. We had the festive menu. The prawn cocktail was lovely, the chicken wings were very sparse and expensive for what they were, the ribs main was disappointing, it looked good but no cranberry at all and not much flavour just a lot of sauce. The mixed grill was average so a little expensive. Overall the visit was average, however it took around 20 minutes for staff to take our order and then no one came to check on anything and we kept having to go to the bar throughout our meal for further drinks, as there was just no service and at this point there were less than 5 tables full in the restaurant. Overall, wouldn't visit again because of slow service and prices for average food.

Food was ok at best. Morning service was shocking. 1 coffee machine that didn’t work. When asked to get one from behind the bar (which the staff were openly using in front of us) they said we had to wait for the machine to work again. 6 people waiting for it at the time…. While staff were freely getting theirs and said the one behind the bar wasn’t for us.. Worst beefeater I’ve been in.

Absolutely dreadful, diabolical won't be eating here again. Such a shame as we are a large family and eat regularly at this establishment.

Went this morning for a delightful breakfast. Despite it being busy and not booking, staff were very welcoming and attentive. Lots of food choices and great coffee. Thank you Jo, Liz, Chris and Karl for a warm welcome and lovely morning.

I went in to the Three Fishes tonight with my 3 children to celebrate my son’s 9th birthday. I booked 20 mins before I needed the table as I had complications with a booking somewhere else. The staff were so helpful with making the children and I comfortable. Especially as I was on my own. They were so attentive and even made a standard children’s pudding extra special with a candle and glitter. They gave my son a card and some sweets after singing happy birthday with me to him. It made our night and my son felt very special for his birthday meal. I can not thank the ladies who worked tonight enough. You were all amazing. It meant so much to me and my boys ☺️

What has happened to this place. Ive been visiting here with work whilst stopping at the hotel on a regular basis over the past 3 years. The last few visits has been awful. The staff as a whole just seem miserable and make you feel like you are in the way. You have to chase them down for anything like another drink they just seem to stand around chatting. It used to be such a nice pub to eat at. Only given a 1 star as the lady on breakfast called Liz is a really nice person.

I’m sorry to say but it was really bad the battered 8 mushroom starter was luke warm and just plonked in the middle of a large plate no garnish nothing. We then waited almost an hr for our mains and it was just not good taste presentation was so so poor the white of the fried egg was runny annd not cooked and staff just not interested to be honest. The place its self is dirty don’t let your kids play on the floor as there was a metal edging strip that was snapped and sticking up from the carpet it would do some serious damage to someone if the caught themselves on it. I know these things happen but at least cover it with something and leave it safe. tihS

The steak was literally the best tasting steak I've had in many years. Compliments to the chef and the buyer. The service by the majority of the staff was friendly BUT the 'greeting' on arrival was unbelievebly TERRIBLE. The lady didn't actually greet us but sullenly asked our names, didn't look at us and had the most miserable face I've ever seen. I wanted to leave as I felt so unwelcome. However, I stopped and wished her a good evening with the biggest smile I had. She will remember me, but hopefully it will give her cause to remember how to greet her guests, in this day and age when money is tight and people have to choose VERY CAREFULLY where they spend it. P.S. the cutlery was a bit gross as was the cleanliness of some tables. However, I will give them one more try, based on the steak which we shared (the festive burger was very ordinary and most of it was saved for the dog). BUT, if the rest of the experience doesn't improve then I won't go back again.

The Breakfast hot food is very limited , on two occasions I have had to ask to food to be reheated the serving heating lamps do not keep food at temperature , very annoying , this was my second visit for breakfast and it was the same on each occasion , expensive for only luke warm limited choice of hot food , avoid go elsewhere

Popped in as live locally for a Sunday dinner (last minute plan) and was surprisingly impressed. Good size portion. Good price. Roast potatoes were to die for :) I felt sorry for one member off staff though. She seemed to be doing everything from cleaning to ordering to serving.I watched her going round none stop as the younger members of staff stood around gossiping and chatting and doing the bare minimum. The one girl looked like she'd been out all night and couldn't be bothered to be there at all. I did mention it to the lady serving my family what a great job she was doing but unfortunately didn't catch her name.

Went for breakfast and I've got to say loved it breakfast was fantastic as much as you can eat staff really helpful nice clean definitely be going there again

After passing this Beefeater on a regular basis we finally called in. Unfortunately I think we just called at a bad time for them because their Grill had broken down so food choice was limited to food which didn’t need to be cooked on the grill which if I’m honest, there wasn’t much of a choice. These things happen and it was just unfortunate it was when we visited. I’m having to base my star rating on the experience I received when visiting, hopefully if I re-visit, then I can look at giving a new star rating. I’m also basing my rating on the food they were able to cook at the time, I had to have the fish as I only had a choice of fish or pies. The fish and chips were very good but the starter of battered mushrooms were over cooked. And then I couldn’t understand why people were still being served burgers throughout the time we were there when I was told I couldn’t have a burger due to the broken grill. I would like to have given a better review but I think it was all circumstantial that my experience wasn’t great.

In a word.......rubbish. Went there 29.09.24 for a celebration meal. Out of 8 meals 2 or 3 were ok, the others not great at all. They had no steak sauce in the whole place. Considering this is meant to be a steak house this isn't good. A lot of the food was burnt and presented badly. The last time before today we went here was 10 years ago. Will probably be another 10 before we go back. Staff weren't interested in our grievances at all. No money off offered and no real apology. Judging by other reviews this seems to be the norm.

Went for a meal here yesterday. Food was not cooked properly made me and husband ill afterwards. The service was terrible, no one came to ask about drinks. The person who seated us just rolled her eyes at us when we sat down. Will not be going back!!

Ordered a sirloin that arrived with a lot of fat and was extremely thin and scabby looking - more akin to a frying steak. Sent it back the moment it arrived and ask for a portion of chips instead (as everyone else had their food) which arrived piping hot but undercooked. Other food was subpar for the table too, but it's fairly dull to document it. There were about 9 tables in on a Sunday at 3pm (hints were there..), including ourselves we were aware of 6 tables making complaints. Life is too short in summary to waste time going places like this, where the head chef is a microwave :-)

Sadly if I could give 0 stars I would, visited yesterday, the service started positive but very quickly turned sour. Our server the ever so miserable Leah, definitely didn't want to be working. We ordered one of their burgers, for it to come with about 5 chunky chips rather than the skin on fries as stated. No attentiveness when it came to serving, constantly walking past empty glasses, without asking if we needed anything else. When we did, we asked for 2 cocktails (easy ones) and again the lovely Leah rolled her eyes and somewhat sighed. These cocktails were awful! Not at all happy, was booked to go the second day too but happily spent money somewhere else.

Absolutely shocking meal today ..I don't think I am the only one posting on hear today ...

The meal was the worst I have ever been presented with. My 95 year father in law found his gammon full of gristle and unable . My fish and chips had only 6 chips on the plate and the batter was burnt. Why do we have to tolerate this the staff were uninterested in us and were more interested in chatting amongst themselves A very disappointing experience and costly.,,

Dirty greasy kitchen, rude waiter had a lot to say under her breath, over cooked eggs, flat coke and a sirloin steak that’s still mooing, definitely do not recommend!!!!!

Good food for the price especially all you can eat. More than one coffee machine would help as this was a bottle neck for all and it errored out several times. Have options for cold and hot plates in one location, not at opposite ends of the service area. This caused a blockage. Minor points in what was a good visit with good staff.

Served by Liz today .very welcoming .checked on us through our whole time here .food alright etc etc was asking. 10 out of 10 service .always had a smile on her face .made our day . Food was fab .

Normally this place is wonderful. Today it is awful. Waited 10 minutes for eggs that didn't come. Everything else was stone cold. The bacon was like leather and no one seemed to care. Ended up with cold leathery bacon, cold sausage and cold tomato.

Thought we were stopping by for a carvery. They put it all on the plate at the counter, keeping it warm under lamps. Parsnips and roasts were too well done, the beef too pink for me. Unfortunately I was very ill that night, can't blame anything else as I had nothing else to eat.

Lovely friendly welcome. We were a party of 6 and had not pre- booked. Initially informed we could sit 4 and 2. A short time later we were accommodated as a 6. All staff very warm and helpful. Overall a delightful experience and we appreciated the personal touches from Jo, Lauren, Liz, Jake and chef Rich. Thank you.
