Decent beers. Some good food. Nice environment and the staff were good too. Nice decoration and would recommend a visit

It’s gone downhill. Sat at a dirty table full of previous occupants dirty food plates, had to go and find someone to clear it who said they’d be back to wipe it down, they never came. I found some spray myself and a cloth but the cloth was filthy so had to go and find serviettes to use instead. Ordered a breakfast, the mushrooms and scrambled eggs were stone cold, the sausages were burnt and hot from their whizz round the microwave and it cost £12.50. Awful food and awful cost. Used to visit regularly but this was my last visit. I get the staff are busy but that’s not the customer’s fault and it does not excuse the bad food and filth. The floor was also disgusting. None of this would take much effort to fix and its basic hygiene and good service.

Unique venue. Brunch until 3pm, them pizzas. Coffee and Titanic ales make this worth a visit.

Nice place but food was disappointing, had the waffles and chicken and the waffles where like the cheap sugary ones you get from the supermarket, the chicken was like something from the freezer section.

Food was very nice. Just had over cooked poached eggs and the yolks were very pale suggesting they may not be free ranged which seems like a strange move considering the quality of the sausage and bacon. Staff are extremely friendly.

Called in today got breakfast at my local Bod. Ordered coffee for two as well as breakfast and it took a while to come. Had to chase up the coffee which came after the food which was a shame. Normally pretty good and don't put me off revisiting.

I’ve just been to BOD in Newport where I decided to get a quick coffee and sandwich before picking up my child from school. I approached the bar to let them know I was there and was told to take a seat anywhere and they would be over to take my order. After taking a seat and a couple of minutes later, a member of staff came over and cleared the table, directly beside me so I assume, would have spotted me sitting there, on my phone, without any food or indeed a menu. After a further 5+ minutes, there was still no sign of service so I left and they lost my custom. I could have understood it had they been excessively busy but it was pretty steady at the time. Shame…..as I like the venue but would think twice about going back!

Great place to catch up with friends. The breakfasts are amazing with great choice. Staff and atmosphere are very welcoming.

Best place for food and coffee in Newport!

From the outside, BOD looks like a great little spot and it doesn’t disappoint when you walk in. A very cool vibe! However, the same couldn’t be said of the food we ordered - chicken and waffles. Another reviewer made the same comments a few months ago… waffles were dry, crumbly and somewhat dense. Bought in rather than freshly made. Two chicken strips / tenders. And bacon that had been either bought in or cooked much earlier in the day. A huge huge disappointment. Staff were enthusiastic but this felt like a place that has not been open long, I may be wrong. So, a tad chaotic. This could be a real gem but the food definitely needs a rethink.

Great Sunday brunch. Service was friendly and spot on.

Have visited twice this year in April and September (last night), both times only for evening drinks and been very happy with my visit. I couldn’t fault the beer, service or music. 3 of us friends enjoyed it in April and last night I went for a solo beer. I’d say it’s fun to visit with friends but also an easy place to visit alone & watch the world go by. I personally enjoy the non-traditional pub like environment, the decor and range of different seating.

A lovely place to go for pre-dinner drinks. Staff are brilliant!

Arrived at the BOD at Newport at 11.45am for breakfast ( they serve until 12) was told to come back in 5 minutes by a rude staff member Went back in 5 minutes to be told they had stopped doing breakfast ( it was 11.55am) The place was dirty I had to clean my own table as well as the iron balustrade because the dirt and dust was everywhere. I mentioned it to the guy waiting on the tables but I may as well of spoke a different language Absolutely disgusting treatment of two people who always come to the BOB I am sorry but we won’t be back

Food clearly not freshly made. Sausage had been 'nuked' in microwave could not cut it was so hard. Scrambled eggs disgusting dry and tasteless. Beans not hot. Tomato not cooked, greasy bacon. The toast was OK Service appalling, breakfast served before my coffee arrived. Had to ask for it then waited another 10 minutes for it. Not offered any condiments when my food was served. When I asked for brown sauce waited another 10 minutes for this. I took my plate to the bar to point out the poor quality of the food. The server snatched my plate and abruptly asked if I would like a refund. No apology or offer to speak to management. I would query if the people who prepare the food have any qualifications and also be interested in their food hygiene rating as now have a very grippy tummy.

Staff really helpful about GF food. We all enjoyed our lunch and shall go there again.

Ended up going there 3 times in a week. Twice for coffees and once to eat . Spot on. Breakfast menu till 12 is extensive, lunch after 12 is restricted.

It's OK not my favourite place to visit. Can be noisy making conversation difficult. Seating not the most comfortable.

Sat outside at the front, coffee and toasted tea cakes were good. What wasn’t so good are all of the cigarette ends lying on the floor. First impressions need reviewing.

Very disappointing having been to other Bods. Very quiet with few customers but service dreadful. 30 min wait for 2 cups of coffee. Food orders stopped at 11.30 as they were too busy.......?? Staff disinterested, tables not cleared in a timely manner. Table of 6 left due to poor service. Will think twice about returning.

Slow service. Milkshake was literally a glass of milk with squirty cream on top. Would have been cheaper and less frustrating to buy a litre of milk

Visited 2 times . Once for coffee which I had to send back because I was served brown water. It was remade but without a smile. The other visit was for food where they added 2 items I hadn’t ordered to my bill and were irritable about giving a refund with no apology, made me feel like I had done something wrong for asking for a refund . Furthermore the beans on toast is 1 slice of toast and a coating of beans . Overpriced , bad value for money , unfriendly and snobby staff .

Had a table for 6 ,very cramped considering we were going to be eating . 4 of us had the chicken , bacon and waffles . Chicken was just cheap out of a packet southern fried chicken . The waffles were not nice probably packet or from frozen, just crumbled they were that dry . I could of made same meal for a couple of quid from morrisons but this pleasure cost me £12 . First time i have been to a BOD ,never again. Had a latte coffee and rest had beers and cokes all good and service from staff was good . Just dont eat at these places ,says fresh food on the menu , seen fresher in the whoops price section of a supermarket .Very expensive for what we got and Very disappointed !!

Waiters were nice and it’s very cozy but PLEAAASE don’t get the chicken wrap it was not good and if bod is reading this please work on the chicken and or sauce it was so dry and tasted like only chicken and tomatoes.I got crisps as well which was very kind I didn’t know they included that. 9£

A friendly welcome from the attentive staff. The breakfasts were very tasty - we had the Full English and an Eggs Benedict. I had a latte which was very nice. We'd definitely come again and recommend to friends/family.

Came here as I loved their coffee but at 1850 they can't make coffee anymore as the machine has been cleaned nor can they sell any cake displayed as they've been cling filmed already! They close at 8pm, there should have been a pre warning no hot drink after 1830? What's funny is at the till she asked, is that it? O nearly replied there's not much to choose from really? :( beautiful milkshake though :)

Cozy place. Good service. But the halloumi wrap was mediocre, lacked ingredients. Soup of the day was good!

Lovely ploughman's today. Initially forgot the ham but this was soon fixed. Also had the bread and hummus, equally as nice. Good service too 😀

We really enjoy popping in here for a drink, very pleasant set up to chill with a very nice coffee or alcoholic beverage although AVOID the food, it is very disappointing.

Guys just don't!!!!! First time there not the best at all bod looks good but sadly does not deliver 👎 giving a vegetarian bacon?? Wth!! you then got it wrong again?? Beer tasted terrible one to miss plenty of other places to go no wonder your advertising for staff. And no I didn't tell a manager didn't see the point as no way the sandwich could of been redone in the time it came back just avoid!! Avoid!!

I popped in for the very first time while on my first Newport visit. I loved this place. It's a great atmosphere, cozy and warm venue. Huge selection of drinks and desserts. Definitely come again in my next visit from the Newport.

Lovely place. I can take my dog there or not!! Had a breakfast bun last week, had to share it with my labrador!! This week popped in with the husband for coffee and cake, yum!! Definitely will return. Unfortunately no parking on site but Newport Shropshire has plenty of free parking.

It's ok. Food choice limited. Service ok. Atmosphere is probably better at night.

Although on the website it advertises food till 6 we were informed at 5 that they had closed the kitchen o ly crisps or cake left ,there were 4 of us so they lost quite a lot of revenue ! .Beer exspensive although nice . Toilets dirty. Won't be back. Shame as in the past we have had a good experiencev.

Popped in here while visiting relatives, had a lovely cappuccino, very busy but no waiting. Will definitely be back

Nice place , nice beer but very average food, , supermarket bread cold toasted sandwich and stale salad. Bitter coffee. Why is this so difficult to get right ? You charge enough ! Disappointed wont be having food there again

Been here a few time and the food "has" always been great with good service and a relaxing atmosphere, but I don't know if there has been a change in management or new chef because it's just awful now. The last two time I've been here the food has been a complete let down, with slow service and a boring atmosphere. The first time I ordered a ploughmans which consisted of two small bowls of pickle, 2 slices of bread, 3 tiny lunchbox style sicks of cheese, and stingy slice of pie. Oh and not to forget the chopped stick of celery. The second time I ordered a Cesar chicken wrap. The chicken was that dry it legitimately cut my gums, for a moment I thought the chef must have got the chicken mixed up with a bag of pork scratchings. For the price you pay here you'd expect some food with at least moderate quality. Bod used to be me go to place im Newport but not any more

Wasn’t impressed with the staff. Went to the counter where the chap was serving a lady. No acknowledgement as I waited. When the lady left with her drinks, he started moving stuff around, then served someone a few feet away! Poor customer service.

I only tend to go for a breakfast, brunch, or a coffee, which I think is very nice. My favourite is the full English, my partner being a veggie has different options which she always enjoys. A good reason for us to go is that they are dog friendly. There always seems to be a few in there. If you're not a dog fan, there is seating upstairs, I've not seen anyone taking dogs up there. The atmosphere is always pleasant and friendly, they also have a loyalty scheme, which gives good discounts, recommend it 👍

Great place and the best cafe for humans and dogs. Water bowls plenty. Plenty of seats. Closes 7pm but Saturday and Sunday 10pm

There are better places for cake and a cuppa in Newport. Tables were filthy. Waited ages for a watery, horrible milkshake which was slammed down in front of us without a word from the clearly overstretched waitress. Cake was ok but there are tastier options in the town…

Regularly go in for a breakfast. Very well cooked and not greasy. Just the right amount. Fast service and a very nicely decorated building.

The food is quite inedible. My wife’s egg Benedict had about a pint of sauce. The muffin was not toasted. Dreadful.

Been here twice now, once with my family for food, and once with the lads for beer, faultless both times. It's more of a cafe in the day time, but becomes a bit more pubby in the evening. There was a quiz on the night we went, and a few dogs roaming around, which is a good thing, I love dogs.

Fantastic coffee, amazing food - very inventive - if you are at Lilleshall for England sports this is definitely the best place nearby for breakfast or lunch or an afternoon tea or coffee (cakes are incredible too)!

My self and my friend met at about 430 for something to eat, they could only do an extremely limited choice, we opted for the Indian platter, it was awful, limp onion bhajis and pakoras, 6 tiny ones, 3 dips and poppadums and Nan bread, it wasn’t much more than a starter for over £18!! We did mention it to the staff who just said we will tell the chef… my 7 yr old would have done better. We then decided to have a hot chocalate this had to be asked for because they forgot, but then the lady behind the bar was too busy chatting. Won’t be returning!

My son and I have a vegan breakfast and it was nice, just what I expected from a chain restaurant. The coffee is always good and my son loves the oat milk banana milkshake. Staff are always very nice and the restaurant was very clean.

Disappointed to find that they stopped serving food at 5pm when the website says 6pm. I was really excited to eat there after my friend recommended it. Staff were apologetic but can see that website still had not been amended. Looks like a nice cafe and want to visit again but it ruined my evening and left me feeling disappointed when we arrived just after 5pm and told that they weren't serving food.

My lunch experience in Bod Newport was the worst. Soup of the day was terrible and completely flavourless, it made me angry. I made a complaint to duty staff who didn't care or sympathize with me, so I can't even complement them for decent customer service. I am greatly disappointed and will not visit the place again. What a poor show and there was no great variety of option for vegan friendly food.

Love this place ❤️ staff are amazing. I had leek potato and sweetcorn soup which I found too sweet and didn't like the texture of the sweetcorn in the soup. Just my tastes. Would definitely go back though

A great place to go anytime of the day. Food was lovely. I had the nachos with pulled pork and they were one of the nicest I've ever tasted. Only thing I would maybe change is to have homemade tortilla chips. My husband loves the beer and its clean and a great atmosphere

Can't rate the food as it never arrived. The table was a bit sticky and the window ledge was covered in flies, I know this is a seasonal thing but it wasnt very appealing. My lunch hour was nearly over so I asked for a refund on the food which turned out to be less than what I had paid for so had to return the following day to have that sorted. TBF the staff wo did the refund was very appologetic but not sure I'll be returning for food unless I have a few hours to spare

Can't rate the food as it never arrived. Cleaning also appears to be an issue as window ledges full of dead flies. To add insult to injury when my refund came through it was £5.50 less than I had paid. To be fair to the member of staff he was apologetic and refunded the difference. Not a great experience

Called in for a coffee Sunday evening just after 6pm, to be told they turn off the machine at 6pm to clean it, even though they shut at 7pm! This isn't the first time either where we have called in early evening to be told we are closing in a hour, make you feel like you have to rush, so they can get an earlier finish,

Had a nice lunch here. I had the chicken wrap which was lovely. Not too busy about 1pm and we got seated easily. Staff were friendly. Food took a little bit longer than expected to come out but nothing to grumble about - i think we waited around 20mins from order if i remember. Definitely recommend and go again 👍

Dreadful service & food, £28 for a cottage pie, lasagne, cup of tea and a latte. Took ages to arrive, upon which both meals had been microwaved to death, and the cottage pie came with a bread finger roll??? Won’t be visiting again for sure 😞

Lovely pub/café whether you want a pub meal or a drink. A coffee and a cake! Serve an amazing flat white coffee. Thoroughly recommend.

I only had a coffee but everyone said that the food they had was good. Could do with more vegan options, hence me only having a drink.

Great ambiance for eating and drinking. The limited veggie options on the menu are disappointing. So too is the quality of the food from dry mushrooms to over cooked eggs.

Hate to write this but it's the honest truth plus it's the 2nd time in a row we have visited and encountered poor service. First time ok we gave them benefit of the doubt as we had been many times before and had no problems. Myself and a friend walked in and first thing I noticed the Iceberg was off and sign on pump had been turned other way. We ordered 2 pints of White Star and the young bar woman said the barrel needs changing and will bring them up to us shortly. The barmaid walked upstairs 5 mins later to where we were sat and said the White Star is off and asked if we wanted something else. We asked for Steerage but that was not available either. We then asked for our money back and left. A very similar thing happened last time we visited back in September but we ended up having bottled beer. The place needs seriously sorting out like hiring more senior / experienced bar staff and people that can actually change a barrel for starters. Carries on way it is it won't last much longer!

Absolutely lovely, we had breakfast & it was very good , lovely and clean. Dogs are also allowed. we will be visiting again when we are back up in the area

We like Bod and pop in on a regular basis. It has however let us down a couple of times as they shut the hot drinks facilities down a hour before they close.

Incredible breakfast options (beyond the big standard of what you'd expect). Really good quality food and ingredients too.

Very good selection of titanic ales on (cask, keg and bottle)in this highstreet cafe/bar. Busy for lunch. Recommended for a day time pint. Outside seating at front and back. Also has upstairs seating. Looks like a good spot to use a laptop etc with plenty of high tables with power points. Friendly service 🍻🚢🥪🍔🧁🍩☕️

I ordered a ploughman’s. As someone who’s orders this regularly from other establishments it was nothing like a ploughman’s….No crusty bread, just limp lettuce and cellary with soft small onions, and three types of cheese. Two of which I don’t like with sliced bread and no toms or cucumber.
