Made special effort to go for a meal here. It was Not wheelchair friendly. We had to leave having spoken to the manager who reassured us that she will address the issue. We have rebooked & I hope to leave positive reviews.

10 out 10 Great customer service in the lounge area, great check back and great coffee. I always tip whenvee I go here just great vibe before going to work. Thank you for amazing service! And great soups!

I had a meal here a week ago and it was really lovely, although not quite enough veggies so we had to order extra. We went again tonight and to be fair there was no fish due to it being bank holiday Monday but we had an early meal and the mussels ran out at 6.30. My mum and husband ordered fish pie, this was literally all mash potato and a tiny bit of fish. We were very polite and told them at the end . The man at the desk was very nice and said he would feed back to the chef what we said. I ordered all I could being a vegetarian which was cauliflower something.. a bit too pricy for what it was (£20) but fairly tasty. I also booked for the dining room but we were given a table in the top bar where there are tall tables , not brilliant t for 80 year old parents I wouldn’t not recommend this place as I have had a good meal here but not brilliant tonight, for a lot of money.

The food and service here is outstanding! A special mention to the desserts! Its refreshing to see an eatery take some care and consideration in to the dessert offering , as well as starters/mains! Not a sticky toffee pud or warm chocolate brownie in sight! Thank goodness! The best dessert selection I’ve seen any where in Cornwall in years! Mains and sides perfect too and the staff make the whole experience that little bit more special. Highly recommend

Amazing roast on Mother’s Day! The meat just melted in your mouth, the yorkie puds had shedded meat in them which made them moist yet crunchy, the veg were out of this world perfection! The gravy and spuds 💯. We had a cocktail too and the service was soo organised, professional and friendly. I would give 6 stars if I could! Soo good we are coming back on Easter Sunday. It’s a one hour drive from where we live! 😃. Well done guys. The whole team are smashing it!!!

Just called in with hubby and our dogs for a couple of drinks and a snack, lovely friendly atmosphere and we can highly recommend the Pork crackling with toffee apple sauce and the Sun dried tomato, onion and feta bread, with roasted carrot hummus, pistachio dukkah.

Been in a number of times since it reopened and had a selection of food and drinks, all fantastic. Food, staff and ambience are second to none. Highly recommend for a meal or just a few drinks!

Visited The Thomas Daniell recently for an evening meal with my partner and was hugely impressed. The new owners have done an exceptional job with all aspects of the restaurant. Service was helpful and attentive without being overbearing, fantastic food and great local beers! Can't wait to revisit on a sunny summer evening and try out the benches out front. Great addition to the Truro scene.

Sunday Roast The roast potatoes were black and obviously re heated from the Sunday lunch menu, the beef was dry as was the Yorkshire pudding. My wife had a fish dish and enjoyed the meal. It was Mother’s Day so I decided not to make a fuss and let her enjoy her meal. Under normal circumstances I would have sent the meal back. Yes I left a £5.00 tip but that was under my wife’s wishes. Very disappointed!

First time here with Mum and brother for Mother’s Day and it was just fabulous. From the warm welcome upon entry to the lovely staff and amazing food, the whole experience was delightful!

My wife and I used to visit here often but it was our first visit since the refurbishment and change of ownership. Firstly, we were greeted by Steve who was amazing throughout our visit. The decor is simply stunning. Very contemporary, clean, light and airy. The food was absolutely first class. We both had the ‘ham, eggs and chips’. This is not ordinary ham, eggs and chips. I will not go into details and spoil the surprise. All I’ll say is: order it and you’ll never order ‘ham, egg and chips’ from anywhere else ever again. The bread and butter pudding was genuinely the best I’ve ever had. It was THAT good!! My wife loved their cocktails (hence why I’m writing this review). Please, please visit The Thomas Daniell, you will be met with the most amazing staff/service in a wonderful environment and genuinely enjoy simply outstanding quality food and drinks. First class all the way.

Amazing difference a change of management can make. We visited in October 2023 and the reception was lukewarm and that is being generous. Tonight was very different. The menu is small and in my experience that means good. We all had different choices and all were pleased. The staff had the balance just right. They’re when you need them, not over bearing and not inattentive. Congratulations on such a turnaround and big thanks to Steve and Archie for just the right level of service and banter. We will be back.

I went with my family for dinner to celebrate for my brother and my birthday. Lovely atmosphere throughout our dinner. I must say that everything was above and beyond by the staff and oh my goodness the food/drinks were outstandingly amazing and also affordable for a high end place like this. Can’t recommend this place enough!

had some new clients in town, went for Lunch and the Thomas Danial great food and wine and the service was fantastic my clients where very impressed that Truro had such great eatery. i would recommend to all that are thinking of going i believe its under new owners looks like they have got it just right.

Saturday lunch with family. Warm friendly welcome on arrival. Really nicely furnished bar and restaurant. All the staff were really attentive without being too much. We had a variety of meals and sides, all reallly very good. Drinks were also great, nice to have a properly dressed Bloody Mary for a change.

Well very nicely decorated restaurant with amazing service, nothing was to much trouble. Food was amazing. Only down fall it was a Friday evening and it was a little loud.

We booked ahead for Sunday lunch and it was confirmed that we had reserved a lovely table in the corner of the pub. When we arrived we were seated in the middle of the pub next to a table that had a pet dog with them that was actually sat on a chair at the table. The waitress who was very pleasant came and took our order of 2 roast beef dinners. Before long the food arrived which was well presented and was very tasty. Half way through my dinner I asked our waitress if it was possible to have some more gravey. The young waitress looked embrassed and said yes but its an extra £3. I questioned this, again she said sorry yes it's £3 to which I replied that I would rather leave the food. I was perplexed and quite honestly disappointed that you would charge an extra £3 for some more gravey. Never In all our years of going out for Sunday lunch have we every been charged. Speaking to other friends neither have they. I know people reading this would say its only £3 but it's the sheer audacity that you would charge for it on top of £22 for Sunday.I am utterly disgusted with your choice to charge for extra gravey and would not book again for Sunday roast.

Food was amazing although would have been nice to have let it go down before leaving.. Disappointed by the way we were rushed and asked to leave our table after only there for 1 hour and 15mins. (£100 bill for 2 people) We booked a week in advance 1.30 booking for my friends birthday and by 2.45 we were asked to leave due to another booking needing our seats. Not a great feeling and embarrassing especially when a table next to us (of the same size) were there longer than us! :( *would recommend to check how long your reservation will be.*

Had visited in the past but the recent change of hands and refurb with an excellent menu, stunning service and great buzz is an even better experience than before. Congratulations to Neil and his team. One to revisit ......many times.

We went for there Christmas lunch and omg it was absolutely exquisite and couldn't ask for anything better.

Neil and the team were welcoming, friendly and professional. Their service was exceptional. The food was outstanding, my wife loved the Steak and Betty Stogs pie. The drinks were great and there was no rush throughout the meal. As visitors from San Francisco, while staying in Truro, we have enjoyed everything about Cornwall and especially this Pub/Restaurant. While commenting on the decor, and design aesthetics, the former Mayor was sitting next to us, and so gave us a brief potted history of the pub, awesome. Alf & Ann, and we will go back before we leave for California.

We (4 close friends) enjoyed our Sunday lunch together today and it was FABULOUS! Certainly delicious (3roast beef, 1 roast pork) excellent vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, crackling, and feeling very full… Then, chocolate tortes and treacle puddings. Add a few cocktails and a bottle of Malbec and we could hardly move. Service was friendly and helpful, atmosphere was cosy, soft lighting and festive without being in your face. So glad my local is SO good and I’ll be returning soon.

Sunday lunch is incredible, excellent service also considering how busy it was. 100% recommend.

Wonderful bustling atmosphere for Christmas with excellent food and great service.

Very noisy acoustics inside. We went on a Sunday evening and all that was on offer was a roast menu. I did not want a massive dinner at that time, so we chose a couple of starters and the cheeseboard to share. 1 tiny piece of blue cheese with 2 bits of bread so I asked for more. The whipped feta salad was all frisee, beetroot and no feta but the fishcake was lovely. Wine very expensive as expected but good. On the whole, won't be in a hurry to return unfortunately.

Have just returned to this gastropub after new owners have reopened after a refit. Excellent lunch of small plates, and dessert. The squid, Caesar salad and monkfish were very good. I particularly enjoyed the dessert of sticky date pudding with clotted cream. Service was exemplary. Good coffee too. Range of beers is a bit route 1, I would like a bit more variety with smaller brewerys guest beers etc.

A superb experience throughout. Classy and warm atmosphere, a real well thought out luxurious decor but in keeping with its old historic building. The service was impeccable, very well cared and catered for by all members of staff. Food, well what can I say!! One...

Just had a birthday Sunday roast at the Thomas Daniel which was brilliant. The beef was so tasty with all the trimmings. In our opinion it’s a better dinner compared to the Longstore & the Wig & Pen and these restaurants do great food too....

Excellent lunch for four of us, based around the small plates menu, tapas style. Excellent service. We will come back again.

Excellent food, friendly service-but then the experience was spoiled when it came to paying the bill. Presenting us with an immediate request to name our tip was grating (and a little rude) and took the shine off a lovely evening. It’s the last thing we want to think about. Don’t make a customer feel bad if they don’t leave a tip. This also gives the impression you don’t pay your staff well. Please consider just adding a service charge automatically into the bill, if you must.

Been twice now. Small plates menu is lovely and the Sunday roast is by far the best I’ve had in Cornwall ever and I’ve had many over the years. Lovely decor and super staff. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Such a lovely place. Decor and ambience really beautiful. Young, enthusiastic and friendly staff. The food that everyone else in our large party had, looked amazing. Sadly, as a vegan, there was no choice for me. I had a choice of olives with chips, or padron peppers. With chips. Unfortunately, even the bread had cream in it, so that was a no go. I ate my peppers and went home for a sandwich. Such a shame.

The small plates menu was both varied and sensational. Wine list was perhaps too dominated with big strong entries but it didn't take away from a great meal out.

Now that the Thomas Daniel has reopened, I’ve been a couple of times and the atmosphere, food and staff have all been great. Super attentive, lovely drinks menu and a good vibe. Big thumbs up 👍

We were staying in Truro and booked for Christmas Eve dinner. The venue itself was very festive and inviting - contemporary and trendy. With lots of space for two dogs under the table. The staff were attentive and friendly even though it was super busy. The menu had lots of variety and was well thought out - with wine pairings being suggested. We had starters, mains (monkfish and beef) and cocktails - all of which were delicious! The excellent quality of the ingredients was obvious - food was delicious (and the portion sizes were very generous). We opted for the wine pairings as suggested and this really added to the experience- this is such a high quality touch. A truly lovely meal and experience- shame we live 250 miles away! Support this incredible local business!

By far the best roast around. Family and myself have tried near enough everywhere for a Sunday roast and this is our new fave. The portions are such a good value for money. Best selection of beers and cocktails too. Also eaten off the normal menu also and everything is outstanding (calamari is my favourite). Staff couldn’t do enough for us on every visit, if you want top quality and a relaxing atmosphere, pay them a visit xx

Good food but poor service… 15 minute wait on a prebooked table and then places on a table that had been empty the whole time anyway. Service appears to be unorganised and chaotic. Ordered a cocktail, it wasn’t going to arrive until I reminded them. Customer care seems quite low on priorities.

Ordered set menu in advance, 2 people Ordered salmon first dish came it was nothing like what it stated on menu, staff were so helpful and said it could be replaced. Decided to have 2 plain salmon with some veg what a mistake that was! As when both were served they were raw and not cooked, staff again came over and were very apologetic and offered to replace, owner then came over (Rob) in a very aggressive manner to say it was our fault about the food and the second salmon wasn't cooked as they were trying to serve it to us so we didn't have a wait.Will not be returning

Wasn't all bad, in fact some parts were very tasty - although a little over priced for what you got. Negatives as they happened. Some might say trivial but when you're on a special night out and paying good money you expect some attention to detail.1. Had to return to bar to get the size of glass we had already asked for.2. Had to ask for condiments after food had arrived.3. 'Slow' Roast Pork obviously hadn't spent long in the oven as it was very fatty and slightly tough - would have thought it should be succulent. Everything else was OK .Mentioned about the pork to waitress, who was apologetic and said she would pass on our comments as she took away the plates - which had almost all the pork still on it. We thought someone would at least come and explain or further apologies. But nothing. Reading other reviews seems communications and customer care are way down the list.

A fantastic mixture of friendly and quality - I couldn’t recommend this place enough. The cocktails were tasty (and slightly lethal); I had the espresso martini and waffletini. The espresso martini is a favourite amongst the locals as well, with one saying that it tops their list in the area. The waffletini is very sweet but was nice as a dessert. I had the pork belly to eat, which was soft, with the recommended accompanying Norte sur Chardonnay. I’m not usually a white wine fan but it wasn’t bad. There is great banter between the staff and locals and even as an outsider you are made welcome. I went on my own on a Monday and the atmosphere was still very lively. Combined with the Christmas decorations, if you want to go to a place where you feel at home, away from home, try this place out.

To have such choice on a gluten free diet is so rare. The truffle burger was to die for, and the sticky toffee pudding?!? How was that gf and SO tasty? Great service, friendly staff and lush food. Thanks so much

Just sitting here writing this review, it's been a long long time since I have had beef cooked so well, Yorkshire pudding like clouds.The red wine gravy was property made.Roast potatoes and veg cooked to perfection!The good lady wife had a lentil bake and that too was cooked very well.Think the stuffing balls went AWOL but I could have asked, but I was too enthralled with the food! Super service and relaxed atmosphere.

My partner and I had dinner here for our anniversary and every aspect of the night was perfect! The food was delicious, the drinks were delightful and the staff were so so lovely and attentive! My partner proposed in the middle of the restaurant at the end of our evening and it was the most incredible end to a night of phenomenal food and drink - would highly highly recommend!

Greeted by a lovely waitress who showed us to our table.Quickly bought us our drinks.I fancied something off the main menu which she said she would ask the chef as it was lunchtime when we visited.The chef said he could cook the particular dish I wanted.The food was absolutely amazing!!! Best Hake I've ever eaten it was Cooked to perfection,my partner had the fish & chips he said it was also amazing.I loved the metal retro chairs that they have in there so the waitress found out where I can purchase them ...going to order them now.Thankyou for an amazing lunch...spot on ☆☆☆☆☆

Took my aged vegetarian mother here - she lives locally and can't travel far, and wanted to treat me. Someone should have a word with tis chef. A vegetarian meal needs to be nutritionally balanced, and not just subtracting the meat. On the menu as Roast Vegetables with Linguini, it was in fact linguine with a few dear little mushrooms and spinach, drowned in a pesto sauce.My dish, the Hake was obviously taken straight out of the freezer and overcooked, as were the very few veg lurking beneath the cutlet.A bottle of water was £4.50.Frankly, I find better a standard of cuisine in Wetherspoons at half the price.Sadly, the only proper vegetarian restaurant in Truro who knew about nutrition was Archie Brown's, closed since the pandemic.

Booked the day before and managed to get a table for two which was lucky. Both on holiday in the area and found through TripAdvisor. We parked down the hill at Moorfield multi story which was free parking. The staff were lovely and kept checking we were ok. The meal and desert portions were huge - we took half a chocolate brownie away with us! Meal was delicious and would definitely recommend.
