The Terrace Restaurant in Harrogate

Breakfast good and excellent service. Restaurant location was lovely, with views across the grounds.

The mid-day snacks were good but we were staying at Nidd Hall and the dinner menu was limited and generally poor in quality and taste. Service not good.

We were so excited to try the terrace bar restaurant when we were visiting near by this hotel over the bank holiday weekend but was unfortunately left disappointed. We booked a table as a 4 (2 adults and 2 children) the table reserved for us was lovely outside in the shade just where we wanted, the food was lovely but the service was not up to the usual Swinton Park standard that anyone who has eaten at Swinton before would expect and they pride themselves on . We ordered a beef burger from the kids menu and it came out as a chicken burger. When we asked where the beef burger was we were told the menus hadn’t been updated and they didn’t do beef (why not tell us when we ordered). My son ended up eating half of it coz he was hungry while he waited for some sausages to be cooked for him in replacement. My husband and I ordered triple cooked chips as a side for our main meal and the chef put the triple cooked chips on the kids plates and give us normal chips with our meals. The restaurant did take the cost of the chips off the bill (which was appreciated) but again just little mistakes that you just would not expect from Swinton. We got married at Swinton 3 years ago so will be back despite this little blip as we love the hotel so much.

Excellent food, service spot on. Friendly staff an ambience to take in, we had a quiet corner table but we still got that ambience. Could not fault the nice warm feeling while we enjoyed opur meal.

my mum and dad and i all has a sandwhich to eat and also some drinks the waiters/waitresses come to take your order and also bring the food and drink to your table.

This restaurant is very good . You can use the Carvery, Buffet or take waiter service. Great choice of everything

A Nice menu for lunch and waitress service-sometimes a little slow but worth the wait. We had freshly made sandwiches and a baguette- delicious.

A pleasant large room inside for winter months when it is too cold to be outside on the terrace. Efficient,friendly service.

We could not stay at Nidd Hall without dining here - worth the extra money for such good food and service. Friends who joined us for the evening were very impressed.

Tenía una cadera y tuvimos que coger un balón de grasa de mi boca y colocarlo en el plato. El bistec era simplemente grasa. El gerente del restaurante se disculpó y el chef fue traído de la cocina para disculparse. Esta fue la cena de cumpleaños de mi esposa! He dicho que he tenido filetes mejor de un asador local, su tiempo el número AA el premio 2 AA Rosette.

My wife and I ate here while staying at the hotel. The food was excellent and the service prompt and very obliging.

Normalmente poblada por los residentes de pagar una prima para cenar en un entorno más amplio con servicio completo de plata camarero. Sin embargo, el servicio era lento aunque el comedor era menos de la mitad. La comida fue presentada de forma interesante, de lo contrario no memorable. Comparado con su restaurante principal fue una verdadera decepción.

El estándar de la comida en el restaurante es de primera clase. Uno de nosotros tenía las vieiras de arranque y la otra el salmón. Ambos eran excelentes. Filete de ternera plato cocinado a la perfección y la panceta de cerdo era excelente, tanto eran disfrutamos muchísimo. Servicio discreto y amable. Se Recomiendo reservar la terraza para cenar, no te decepcionará.

We dined in the Terrace Restaurant on our first night, our choices were seafood starters and the fillet steak for our mains both delicious, we could not decide on our desert and the chef did a half portion of cheesecake each and we shared cheese and biscuits wow. The evening was complimented by our waiter Vince who catered for our every need.However the Restaurant was noticeable quite with only 2 other tables dining and it appeared thus for the rest of our stay.

very slow service and by the time your sandwich arrives your tea is cold not avery large menue for lunch

We would advise everyone who goes to Nidd Hall to take at least one evening meal in The Terrace. Food is great, service excellent, manager, Vince, is a gentleman of real character.

excellent restaurant! staff superb (it was our 35th anniversary and tracey made us up a chocolate happy anniversary and even a lovely card! menu is limited but excellently cooked! the pea soup with crispy bacon was a revelation! id have had it as a starter and main!! beautiful setting and well managed!

The ambience is good, the table is set beautifully, the staff are friendly and very professional. The food was very tasty and well presented but was not, in my humble opinion, different enough to the main restaurant at Nidd Hall. You had a bigger table, and you did not feel that you were eating in a school canteen environment but the food was not different enough.

Purchased an afternoon tea deal from Groupon as a present. The offer was a £35 afternoon tea for £19. The hotel and surroundings were lovely, and the staff were very nice. The food however was very disappointing. The tea was cold and very weak. The food looked nothing like the picture on the website. The sandwiches were nice, but there weren't many. The scones were very small and burnt, and the "selection of cakes and pastries" were poor. A couple of tiny bits cut off a bigger cake, and a bit of jelly. This tea was not worth the £19 I paid for it. If I had paid the full £35 I would be asking for a refund. Dissapointed with Nidd Hall, and disappointed with Groupon.

What a treat. We have been to plenty of restaurants in our time but both agreed that this was the best food we have had.The staff were friendly the atmosphere good and the food - all three courses well presented and tasty.We had a Travelzoo voucher and I have experienced when we have gone to places with a voucher that you are treated a bit differently to the full paying guests. This was not the case here.Can't wait to go back for Afternoon Tea at the end of March.

From booking and being invited to come early and have a walk around the beautiful and interesting gardens, to leaving it was a very special day and an experience I look forward to repeating. The afternoon tea was well presented, delicious and plenty of it. The service was great, nothing was too much trouble, and the teapot was kept full throughout. I would certainly recommend anyone to go for the afternoon tea.

I was bought a 3 course meal and champagne as a Christmas present and went with my boyfriend in January. It was beautiful!!! Not much choice of menu - 3 starters, mains, deserts but the food is gorgeous.. On weekends, they have entertainment on in the palladium which is free :-D A comedian was on who was really funny too..All in all a brilliant night

This restraunt has a fine view of the lake and gardens and the staff will try to give you a table by the window when requested.The food was excellent well cooked and well served, we recommend the Yorkshire roast beef

Absolutely beautiful food, fabulous service, couldn't fault anything at all!! A must if you are staying at Nidd Hall or somewhere nearby. Just such a shame we live so far away, as if we lived nearer we would dine here more often but it's nearly 300miles from home for us!

I took my partner for his birthday on september 19th 2114 (a surprise). The welcome was very friendly, the two waiters were very attentive. Complimentry sparkling water and rolls. The food was to die for, excellent presentation and proportions.We had the trio of salmon and Scallops folowed by the Guinea fowl and Steak for dessert it was hard but we opted for egg custard tar and cant remember the other pudding.I would definately recommend eating here. in fact we are thinking of going back soon

Loved the delicious food and the way it was presented. The cheeseboard was stunning, my scallops to die for. The service was slow.

My daughter bought me dinner for two at the Terrace Restaurant for Mother's Day. We went last week and the food and service was second to none! We will certainly be returning.

The menu reads well in this expensive dinning room but unfortunately the food doesn’t live up to expectation and very slow service. We celebrated a special birthday which was ruined firstly by reception not passing on this information to the dining room as requested, secondly by the fact the main course had to be returned thirdly the desert was tasteless and finally took nearly 3 hours to serve. The staff were most apologetic but by then it was all too late and the special evening ruined.

The food was very enjoyable in a room which is full of historical character, excellent service. It was a romantic environment and we enjoyed each others company with privacy in a lovely setting.

we upgraded for a meal in this restaurant and the food and the service are very highly recmended and you must try and treat yourself for a night in here
