Visited for lunch with my family and was extremely disappointed. I queued for over 30 minutes to be served..it wasn't just that they were busy, staff appeared to be standing around talking. Whilst waiting to be served staff were coughing over food under hot plate and many of them had thilthy hands! Finally recieved our chicken ceaser salass which did not have cos lettuce and were tiny portions for 8.95. There was no clean cutlery and the tables were dirty. It is over priced, food is disappointing and unhygenic.

Had we read the previous reviews, we probably wouldn’t have eaten here. Still dirty cutlery, dirty crockery being returned by other diners, we’ve witnessed you clean a table and there’s still plenty of crumbs all over it, we had to send our hot food back because it was barely warm in the middle and the kitchen staff look like they could do with some help. This could have been a lovely day out, sadly the lunch experience has taken the shine off the last day of our holiday. ‘Proud to serve Costa’ but far from a Costa experience. It would also be nice if you had menu options for people with special dietary requirements such as vegan, dairy free and gluten free. Our advice, don’t eat here!

Me and my wife had a spot of lunch, we ordered 2 Jacket Potatoes. The jackets were extremely small and had only been microwaved, not oven cooked!!! They barely give you any toppings, it seems that they are rationing cheese.

We decided to have a spot of lunch out. My wife has wanted to visit here for some time but I have always resisted. Today I gave in, my mistake. The “restaurant” makes fundamental mistakes, such serving salad on hot plates. Serving meals with advertised components missing. The list goes on. The meals were a burger and a quiche. The positive, the quiche was nice, however the very hot plate made what started as a nice salad garnish rapidly wilted. The burger was advertised as having burger sauce and pickles along with chips and salad. Again the plate was hot so rapidly wilted the salad. No sauce, no pickles, dried out burger and dry bun. I definitely don’t want to repeat the experience of eating here. The coffee is ok though.

Very very disappointing !!!! I have been here twice on a Monday both at the start of a lunchtime ..and ordered a bacon and advocado salad only to be told we don't have any salad !!!! Once I could forgive but twice especially at the beginning of a lunchtime service is very poor hey but don't worry I ordered the chilli..oh only to be told we don't have any RICE !!!!! ....so when I showed my frustration the gentleman behind the counter rolled his eyes fuming is an understatement!

Visited on a Monday, found a table easily....which is more than could be said about a menu of any kind. It is the sort of place you wander around looking everywhere for what is actually available to eat but, apart from the 5 meals on the board, the only mention of food was "sandwiches"......no prices and no choice of fillings. We ended up choosing scones as they (and a few cakes) were the only thing we could see to buy....and we very nearly left without buying anything!!! Having said all of that, the scones were absolutely delicious and the staff were polite and friendly.....you just REALLY need a proper menu

Nice layout, however lacks atmosphere. Comfy seating with options of sitting in or outside. One of the ladies serving saw fit to shout at another member of staff for making a mistake. Actually from the moment you walked in she was very difficult to miss, 'mouthy' would be a good description. In no hurry to return.

Macaroni cheese had absolutely no flavour of cheese except the layer over the top, which was very mild. My mother and grandmother who ordered this did not finished their meals and I sampled it as it looked nice. I had ham egg and chips which was as you'd expect. Eggs were cooked very well. The teas, coffees and cakes I have had have all been of a nice standard.

I visited here recently with my family whilst visiting Garsons. I was surprised at how busy it was as it was a Thursday at 3pm, and the seating can be a little limited however we found somewhere to sit. After a short wait in the queue, I was served by the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. I ordered the ham, egg and chips along with a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was lovely (it's costa), however the wait for the food was quite long and by the time it arrived I had finished my hot chocolate. The food itself was absolutely delicious, I was so impressed. On the menu it said that the ham and eggs were locally produced, and you can definitely tell as it tasted so fresh. Also it's a little more expensive, but the portions are quite big and will keep you full for the rest of the day. I would definitely recommend eating here, I know I will come back again!

The Terrace Coffee Shop staff are very pleasant and so polite. I've been at lunchtime and also for coffee & the obligatory cake!! On all counts, the food has always been amazing. You have to wait a little while for food, but it's all freshly cooked rather than the food sitting under heat lamps. The wait for food is never an issue for me but for some it could be. Guessing others that have "moaned" may not have been as understanding!! I would highly recommend this coffee shop - the scones are out of the world!! Very much looking forward to the coffee shop expanding during the renovation works. I would like to give special thanks to Hannah. On our last visit, the coffee shop had one coffee machine not working. Not the fault of the poor staff. Hannah dealt with 2 incredibly impatient and rude customers. She was very professionally and remarkably polite. Hannah is a real credit to the restaurant. All staff on this day were very apologetic to waiting customers, but She stood out. The Garden centre is also fantastic with lots of great ideas. Idea for wanting and gathering ideas with little ones. Thanks for a great experience, great coffee, wonderful home cooked cakes/scones and exceptional staff.

Expensive food that was just awful - would never revisit and would not recommend to anyone. What a waste of money. Went back to work hungry.

We called into the cafe after doing some gift shopping. It was only the start of lunchtime so fairly quiet. I opted for a jacket potato with coleslaw and my husband a lasagne. Other options included quiche, fish and chips and soup. The lasagne needed to be 'prepared', so having dished up my jacket potato and salad, the lady said I could leave it there so it could be brought out with the lasagne, but that the lasagne was going to take a little while...my hubby wasn't sure the coleslaw and salad would be worth eating after being under a heat lamp, so I took it then. My husband then queued up for quite a while waiting for someone to serve drinks (several people had now overtaken us in the queue while the food order was written out). There was quite a delay while waiting for drinks, then again, waiting to pay. My potato was by then going cold, but was ok for £5. My husband's lasagne came along ten minutes later...oh dear...what a let down! It was a tiny portion that only looked like lasagne because of the hot cheese on top. It took up only half the dish, it was a corner piece that had obviously been dried out during a speedy re-heat and had virtually no meat. It was just numerous layers of lasagne sheets with virtually nothing in between (it was about 1" deep with the small quantity of meat on the bottom and cheese topping). The bit of meat there was was inedible as it was burnt solid on the bottom. For £7.45 we were not expecting 5 star quality, but edible was not an unreasonable expectation! Most of it was too solid to be eaten so was left in the dish. There seemed to be a lot of staff there, the tables were quickly cleaned (hence two stars not one) and they were attentive to customers in the restaurant part, but there really needed to be a quicker process for taking orders and drinks. It was far too slow for the number of customers (not dozens by any means). The soup and fish and chips coming out of the kitchen looked better, so I think it could be better to focus on a few simple dishes and prepare them well (and serve them together) rather than put things on the menu that are going to be so hit and miss like lasagne, unless a batch of it was out in the servery to be split into portions fresh. Afraid we will not risk another visit, but for coffee, tea and cake others would probably enjoy it.

I have come out my way tonight as I feel like I need to address a problem. I visited the restaurant at approximately 2:55pm. I was in a queue of 3 people including myself. A young boy was clearing tables and 2 females behind the counter. One of the machine was out of action due to being fixed. One female short with dark hair was serving while the other one which a light hair colour was cleaning from the food rush. We was informed there was only one machine at the time so an apology was giving. Only been in the queue for 4 minutes. The man who was in the queue at first was very unhappy of his wait. (About 6 minutes) due to the coffee machine needing emptying?? Anyway. Out of no where an older lady came out and the guy pulled her aside to talk to her. She said to talk to her supervisor. the young girl with light hair, she came walking over smiling asking if she could help. The older lady then left to do tables. The young man was clearing cups away as couldn't take my order due to the machine being used. The young lady was then confronted by an older man who over looked her and down to her. He raised his voice about how the service is terrible. Asked what she was doing and why isn't anyone doing more orders, the lady apologised and tried to explain the machine is being fixed, he carried on to interrupt her to the point she could not justify the wait. He went on about how she couldn't do her job properly and was point blank rude to the poor girl. You could see it in her eyes she was upset. He did not stop. Going on shouting at her. She asked if she could put his order through the till so he can take a seat and she could bring the drinks over. Still apologising. He walked up to her very close and told her she was being aggressive. Clearly from my point of view she was far to nice. She should not have had to deal with this bully. He went right up to her face to the point I thought he was going to lash out. This is when the other dark haired lady came over and explained about the machine and backed up her college. He still persisted that the young girl was useless, aggressive and didn't know what she was doing. Complained about the prices. Then went on to tell her how to do her job. This was the most horrible experience I was ever witnesses. She kept calm and very professional at all times. I could not believe her grace to the customer. A real asset to the team and I would be deflated if she does not get a pay rise. She definitely deserved it! Not a complaint just a point of view of a customer who witnessed the best customer service I have ever seen. She even offered him a slice of cake to make him happy! I hope she gets to see this as well as the team. My hat goes off to them all.Joanna Knightbridge.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat, really wish I hadn't bothered. The service was unbelievably slow, the staff were friendly enough, but there were only two visible to the customers. One plating up any food that was ordered and one making drinks and running the till. Normally, this would be fine given that there weren't many customers waiting, but despite only having two people in front of me in the queue I was waiting about 10 minutes just to pay. After a long wait which on its own didn't bother me too much, I was suddenly greeted with a bill of £21 for two jacket potatoes, two bottles of coke and a scotch egg. The menu at the front is confusing and doesn't highlight many prices. I discovered that the potatoes were £5.25 each (I only had cheese on them), and amazingly the scotch egg was £5.95 (it was smaller than a tennis ball. I almost don't mind paying this if it was nice, but it wasn't. The potatoes were warm from the hot light they had been under, but hard in the middle. The scotch egg that cost nearly £6 was disgusting. My partner used to work in a 5 star hotel that charged outrageous prices for fine dining, and told me that they used to charge £3.50 for a scotch egg that was runny in the middle and they used quail's eggs. This was a regular egg and completely over cooked. To think I was actually at the till thinking whether to be ready (after my wait) to hand over a £10 or £20 note, you can imagine my surprise when neither covered it. I understand that this is a nice store that sells quality goods, and people don't mind paying for quality, but there is certainly not a high level of quality at this cafe. Avoid at all costs until they realise what they are serving is not worth the prices they charge.

We go out most Sunday's for breakfast and like to try different venues, sadly Garsons was a dreadful let down.Served on very small plates the small breakfast consisted of 4 items my husband asked for an extra item not realising an extra tomato would cost us another £1-50. It would have been better to have the large breakfast, although most places serve one of each item for a small breakfast and two of each item for a large. My husband did say what he had was well cooked, sadly I couldn't say the same for my scrambled egg on toast, far too much salt added, most annoying to have the egg put on the toast and the butter still wrapped on the side. This was also the same price as a small breakfast. Shame as we usually have a good breakfast in garden centres, just won't visit this one again.

We went for a soup and toastie lunch at The Terrace, as advertised on the Garson's Garden Centre web site for the October offer. The restaurant is very well set out with two levels of terraces, overlooking the extensive plant areas, very nice. We've been there before for tea and coffee.I asked what the soup of the day was. "I have no idea at all", said the server. Staff training? There was no queue, so we ordered, paid and sat outside in the glorious October sunshine (20C!) And we waited...Eventually the soups and toasties came out. The soup was cold. I complained and asked for hot soup. The toasties were 2 slices of pink ham and a slice of cheese in 2 thick slices of the very cheapest while sliced bread, squashed flat and toasted with the untoasted thick crusts sticking out. Not good.We had ciabatta with the soup, but no butter. As with the lady near us, you were supposed to pick up the butter when you paid for bread and baked potatoes. When she said that she didn't see it, she was told it's in the fridge! So one has to walk back to the till and ask, when butter should come with bread and baked potatoes as a deal, shouldn't it?The salad garnish had elderly dried lettuce, so old it had darkened and shrivelled. I asked the supervisor and the chef what they would think if they paid for food and had lettuce like that on their plate. The supervisor said, "Well it's all prepared in a large bowl." Hmmm.. a bowl can be covered with clingfilm to keep it fresh (I suspect this was yesterday's kept in the fridge overnight and dried out) and it was only 12.15pm - how long ago had the salad been prepared? After nearly 15 minutes our soup had not been replaced and we'd strugged with the unappetising toasties so I asked for a full refund and got it - as did a man near us who had not liked cold soup.Oh Garsons - what has happened? This was dreadful. We'd gone out for a light lunch and a good shop and ended up with a tasteless toastie.

We always like this pub for food and that the costs are kept at a decent price. Always give you good size portions too. We have found staff always busy, the thing is you can’t tell if it’s a pub or a restaurant. Which is quite confusing, trying to do both and when you’re queuing you don’t know if it’s for food or just drinks. There is one lady there that is quite rude to people but we didn’t see her this time. But this lady will ruin this pub if she isn’t careful. But we do like the food here!

This pub proclaim on their very own website to be a ‘friendly local pub’, ‘families welcome’, ‘friendly publicans’, ‘where community comes together’, ‘you’ll feel part of the family’…which is quite frankly outrageous given our two experiences here. On the first occasion my little boy became upset in the pub (over something i cant remember- but hes 4, so standard 4yo behaviour which lasted only a minute or two). And when i came back in from the garden, I heard them laughing and one member of staff said ‘hes a brat, and his mother just cant control him which isnt my problem’. Then (heaven knows why we went back) - my friends little boy cut his cheek on the side of a bench in the beer garden - they refused to give us any first aid or call a taxi for A&E, let alone any empathy or basic duty of care. When my husband challenged the manager (Ade) and he said to us ‘if i had my way id make this an adults only pub so we dont have to deal with these nightmare kids’. I could not believe how cruel and uncaring the people working here could be. A little boy had hurt himself and they couldn’t have cared less- but more than that- they were hostile, unhelpful and offensive about the whole thing. Despite it being our local, we have not returned- and we will not be.

£26.50 for a day pass, although asked for £30 which includes donation. Our party was made up of 5 adults - we didn’t donate. To put into context, my husband and I have been members of Marwell in our days before our children. It holds a special place in our hearts. We moved away but always managed to make at least 2 visits a year as the children grew up & still do - the kids are now into their 20’s and often visit with us. Sadly the experience over the last 10 -15 years has progressively gotten worse. Every time we go we hope it will be better. Marwell was always at the forefront of conservation and education & had an extremely successful breeding program for the rhinos and giraffes. Much money has been spent on enclosures that didn’t work, the snow leopards, the cheeta, the walkway over the persian leopard, now cloud leopard, the new tropical house, the gibbon enclosure, kids play areas. Now it is a shell. Few animals, lots of paddocks full of weeds, & plastic bottles & little or no information. The annual membership is a steal but place feels more of a kiddies play area than a serious home for conservation and education. It’s expensive and disappointing. Bit on context - The Cotswold Wildlife Park is £19 for an adult. A much smaller facility but full of animals and information & staff happy to help and answer questions.
