We visited today with an older family member with a small appetite, a vegetarian and someone with a diary intolerance. The service was excellent, very attentive and conscious of the intolerance, we were all catered for very well and with a smile will definitely return!

The setting itself is lovely. The lady who served us was so nice and brought a sausage for the dog . The food arrived quickly and the quality was excellent. I had porridge with sultanas and honey. Such a huge bowl, I took some home . The seeded GI bread was homemade and tasty. The cooked breakfast was hot and excellent quality although the plate wasn’t hot (would still go back !) A very pleasant visit and would recommend it .

We are so lucky to have this hidden gem in the village! Children’s platter amazing. Service friendly and professional. All food exceptional! Thank you

I found a long hair in my food and showed it to all the people at my table. All agreed it was indeed a long hair. I complained instantly. The waitress took my meal away and asked if I wanted something else. I declined as it had made me feel very queasy. She took the meal into the kitchen, where the owner was, and promptly came back to tell me that it wasn’t a hair but a length of cotton, but told me I wouldn’t have to pay for the meal. I didn’t intend to. There was no apology from the staff. In effect she told me that cotton in my food was acceptable. It clearly isn’t.

Great French restaurant, offering a wide menu of perfectly delivered authentic dishes. Straightforward venue, quiet enough for conversation. Attentive friendly staff. We were so impressed with 6 different dishes to buy the chef's cookbook.

I'm a Londoner, and as such am used to high prices... however, I was shocked to the core after popping into The Terrace Cafe in the quaint village of Lymm in Cheshire for a coffee and slice of cake... whereupon I was presented with a bill of £9.20 I have spent less in prestige London Cafe's for the same.. so left this average establishment with ill feelings of being ripped off. If you intend visiting this Cafe with friends or family... make sure you head to the bank first to take out a loan to cover your table cost 😡🤭 Mr Unhappy (Ripped Off) Customer

Always friendly staff and good hot coffee never luke warm . Good to sit outside if weather warm inside in cold weather very comfortable

A great location in a beautiful village. We only had a breakfast, mine being an omelette but the atmosphere and food was lovely. Great staff and feel about the place.

Had breakfast here with friends, booked table in advance. Friendly quick service. All had full English breakfast which was excellent with coffee, also excellent. Cafe very clean and welcoming, outside seating area looked great. Pricing a bit high but quality of food justified that. Well recommended.

Stopped by for coffee and cake as other establishments in the village were full. Coffee was ok, one cake was good, the other stale. Was shocked when received a bill for over £16. Will not be returning.

We visit this cafe whenever we are in Lymm. We have always enjoyed the experience, and the food has always been good. There is an interesting menu and it is difficult to choose ! This time I had a chicken shawarma wrap which was delicious, and has really tasty salads with it - the one with red cabbage, carrot and raisins especially nice - I wish I had asked for the recipe !

I called in to the cafe after a walk round Lynn Dam. I had avocado and tomato on sourdough toast which was delicious. The service and the coffee were also fabulous!

Visited The Terrace for coffee and cake with 2 friends. We sat outside, however, the menu didn't show prices or details of any cakes or pastries.I Young waitress was very friendly & was able to tell us a few of the cake selections on offer although not the prices. We ordered 4 slices of carrot cake, 2 of us eating a slice whilst there & the other 2 slices to be taken out. On paying our bill (all 3 of us paying separately), I was shocked that my bill came to £9.25 for 1 regular coffee & 1 slice of carrot cake. The problems started when I queried my bill & the young lady dealing with my query was overruled by a very abrupt and, to be honest, a rather rude older woman who, I understand, was the manager! She did NOT like my very polite query about my bill & after a few bad tempered mutterings she acknowledged the error, "recalculated" my bill and instructed another colleague to take my payment that was now £9.75! She then turned away leaving me feeling extremely frustrated and embarrassed. I again queried the pricing of what I ordered & lo & behold Mrs Manager was back arguing that she had worked out my bill & it was correct! It was NOT correct & after finally being told my coffee was £2.70 & my smallish slice of carrot cake was £5.99, I paid £8.69. Carrot cake was nice but £5.99? Most expensive slice of cake I've ever had in any establishment. Mrs Manager was still not done embarrassing me or herself, as on my way out, I stopped for a word with a friend who occupied another table Despite our conversation being private and having nothing to do with what had just occurred, this very rude woman thought it acceptable to shout across the cafe from behind the counter "you've had an apology & it was a genuine mistake". Actually, I hadn't had an apology for the error or her patronising& rude behaviour. I can accept a genuine error, we all make them, but there is no excuse for the appalling behaviour shown by this Manager. What a dreadful example to the younger staff there, not to mention customers. I will never visit The Terrace again & would advise anyone else not to either.

Visited the Terrace for brunch today. The hash browns were a large round sphere and soggy with little taste. Whilst the majority of the staff were pleasant there were a couple of mix ups regarding our order. As the previous review states, the older woman who took our payment was extremely rude. She did not ask how our food was, very dismissive and brusque . When you are spending money and giving your custom to a business, there is an element of expectation, that does not include rudeness. We will not be returning, very disappointing to say the least.

Ordered lunch from a not especially welcoming middle aged waitress ( never smiled and seemed distracted) we waited to be served a good while until by chance she glimpsed and remembered us. My sister specifically asked for the porridge with just honey and I asked for an English muffin with bacon. When we were served hers had raisins in it and mine was an eggs Benedict with bacon. We assumed order not for us and woman I took to be the owner seemed rather disgruntled and returned them to the kitchen with a sigh. After a wait the original waitress appeared telling us that that was what we had ordered . We politely disagreed but said if it was a problem and would waste the food then we would accept it. She huffed and sighed back to the kitchen and again after some while the owner reappeared unsmiling snd obviously put out about the incident. There was no apology ir smile. The food was ok and we paid up and left. I wouldn’t visit this establishment again as apart from very young waitress who could give both older women a lesson in customer service, we found it to be a very disappointing and frustrating experience. I felt like a naughty child reproved by the grown ups and I’m 56!

This is a good cafe, reliable, food is good, service sometimes lacks a little finesse. My example of this is that on my last two visits my friend and I have arrived just before close of breakfast service, presented with breakfast menu, on the first occasion when waitress came over we were told we couldn’t order from that menu. This time(Saturday) we were given the menu, my friend asked how long we had to order, we were told two minutes, if she hadn’t asked we would have been in the same situation. The kitchen closes for 15 minutes between meals. This is quite understandable to change over. My comment is about managing customer expectations. The food is excellent, the cakes are delicious. The home made soups I have tried have been wonderful.

Had a drive out to Lymm for lunch and was recommended this place by 2 lovely local ladies... we were surprised at how busy it was for a Thursday lunch time. Tucked away down an attractive cobbled alley. We were warmly greeted and shown to a table for two, given menus and ordered our drinks (fully licensed premises). Ordered our lunch chicken club and chips... very nice, followed by cake and coffee.

Made a reservation for a late breakfast, nice lady answered and advised on time, the place is a nice pleasant place, very welcoming staff and amazing choice of coffee and food. The food order was taken swiftly and arrive supper hot and all fresh ingredients.I would highly recommend here for the quality of food and pleasant service

I follow The Terrace on Instagram, and have to say that the food is every bit as good in real life as in the photos!I’ve eaten at The Terrace a few times with my family and it’s always been brilliant - amazing food, helpful (but not overbearing) service and a relaxed atmosphere. However, last weekend we visited as part of a very large group - what can I say? The Terrace staff were totally unfazed and really rose to the challenge! The same great service and delicious food, all topped off with the frothiest cappuccinos from the Manchester-based Worker Bee Coffee company. I wish I lived nearer and then I could eat there more often!

Our family enjoyed a delicious brunch at the Terrace seated outside. The varied selection of food was excellent including the vegetarian garden breakfast which I ordered. Service was prompt and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Full English breakfast is made from really good quality ingredients. Really enjoyed it. Service is good, friendly and efficient. Lovely space to eat in, especially after the recent refurbishment. I’d recommend this place to anyone. There’s just one tiny negative that might bother some customers (didn’t bother me, but my partner found it difficult) the acoustics aren’t good and everything is so loud. You can hear someone whisper from across the room so the coffee machines and general chat sounds like they’re on a loud speaker. Only a problem if you’re sensitive to sound or are hard of hearing. Otherwise fantastic place and good food.

A warm welcome with a choice of internal or outside seating. Clean and Covid safe. Great choice of menu to suit everyone. Excellent homemade food, presented beautifully.

The best lunches are the ones that are most unexpected and this was no exception. After completing half of a 5 mile walk with my esteemed colleague I was at lost expecting a quick coffee and maybe a slice of cake. Due to our busy schedules neither of us had eaten lunch so as we sat down and perused the bill of fare it turned out a ‘no brainier’ as we ordered a simple yet delicious luncheon. We were sat outside but under temp cover with adequate spacing to quell any covid worries. The staff were very pleasant and attentive and whilst the beverage order was somewhat a little delayed the food arrived immediately behind them. I had a home made bacon and leek quiche which i was offered warmed or cold, my colleague a splendid packed sandwich with chicken bacon and avocado on sour dough (again good options / choices of breads) Both were accompanied by a small but fresh crisp salad tossed in a very pleasant dressing and a tiny pot of what could best described as coleslaw (this was unusual complete with seeds and raisins) but very enjoyable. We had a couple of drinks to accompany our short stop off to wash the tasty meal down. Full marks to The Terrace Cafe I would highly recommend

A friend and I revisited the Terrace today 26/6/21 for lunch. Upon arrival we were asked had we booked, we had not , but there were spaces available not a problem. We were asked ‘Outside or In … I replied outside please expecting to go to the lovely Terrace like previous visits. No…. we were shown to a table in covered courtyard. I asked about the Terrace we had previously eaten at, the young girl who was dealing with us said in a very short tone it’s not available but was very vague. Is it booked up, is it full , is it closed … she said it wasn’t there‍♀️ has it disappeared I thought to myself. My friend and I sat at our allocated table ,she went to the bathroom tto see what was going on and the Terrace has gone! Whilst waiting for her return another waitress was hovering wanting to take our order despite my friend not being at the table. When she did return the waitress barked at us’ Are you ready’ I politely said could we have 5 mins , again she barked ‘Drinks’ again I said please can we have 5 minutes. It was at this point we decided we would not stay and left . In total we had been in the venue a maximum of 10 minutes and encountered 3 rude people. Surely at this hard time for hospitality a little politeness is not too much to ask!!! I will not be returning or recommending. The Terrace without a Terrace is not worth a visit.

I have always visited for brunch eggs Benedict is my favourite, it’s always consistently good.Since opening in the evening post lock down I have been a frequent visit yet the food is so tasty, the atmosphere is always good , and the price is very fair . Jo and her team are doing a fabulous job.

Went to the Terrace for the first time on Saturday night and experienced the most delicious tapas style food ......wonderful! With current restrictions, we were able to eat outside but stay cosy and warm under cover with the heaters . Thanks you Jo and the team for a great dining experience in these challenging times ! X

Had a good 7 mile run ahead of my husband who is travelling On our narrow boat along the Bridgewater Canal. What I wanted was a coffee and some breakfast at the end. The Terrace Cafe was perfect. Friendly staff, thorough C-19 precautions, hot coffee and a delicious bacon and egg sandwich. Top marks!

In these uncertain times customer service should be very important Very casual dining area but thought our service was very formal and slightly frosty As for the breakfast we went for the full English and it was very good quality ingredients

Had often seen the terrace cafe but not ventured down to ginnel to try it out. So pleased we now have. Just wanted a coffee and added a cherry scone too,with jam and cream.Coffee was brilliant and the scone too.We sat out side - sort of under cover, service was courteous and friendly, I think cafes so pleased to have customers again.Will certainly return.

I visited The Terrace with a friend this lunchtime, having booked a table outside, and we thoroughly enjoyed being back at The Terrace. The choice of food on the menu was tempting and the food we chose was outstandingly good. How can fishcakes here be so much better than anywhere else? There must be a secret to making especially delicious prawn cocktail sandwiches. What a little gem and we are so lucky to have it in Lymm!

Had take out food use to be so nice but wasn’t good today sandwich very oily very poor value you use to get salad ect which didn’t get today £2.95 for 11 medium chips were nice but very small portion

Visited yesterday with my wife for lunch (booking recommended as they get busy). I had their burger and chunky chips and my wife had their vegan pie and mash. Portions were so big we didn't eat tea so I guess that makes it great value for money too! Staff were particularly careful to ask about tolerances/preferences to ensure everything was perfect. Staff were clearly well aware of covid procedures so all felt very comfortable. Fantastic.

Visited 3 or 4 times now and always enjoyed the delicious traditional English breakfast. The food is outstanding flavourful, appetising and served piping hot. Excellent service too. We shall revisit. Highly recommended

3 covers on a busy Saturday morning 22 FebWe only came in for coffee and cake, but were tempted by the breakfast menu. What a good choice that turned out to be.Two full breakfasts and a toasted sandwich. The quality of the ingredients is to be applauded and three clean plates were duly returned.The staff are a credit to The Terrace. Nothing was a problem, even a request for fried bread (not included on the menu) was met without doubt.We’ve been here before and can’t wait to visit again.Probably best to get here early, as we did, to avoid disappointment 10/10

I just love the Terrace ! The food is all home cooked whether it is breakfast, lunch etc . You must try the omelette with salad it was delicious, plus lovely desserts . There is a lot of choice on the menu you just can’t go wrong . The staff are friendly and helpful as any information you need on ingredients etc they know you just need to ask . You may sit outside as well !

Top notch food. Lovely setting with a new terrace over the canal. Comfortable smart interior. Tried their curry of the day which was delicious and is also vegan. They offered a great cake selection including both vegan & gluten free ones. Unfortunately had no room to try one. A very special cafe. Highly recommended

What a cosy little cafe,very pleasant staff,warm and welcoming,quality coffee with the best scones I've had since pencil cottage in shanklin .

Food was okay however one of the staff members very ignorant and hostile to customers. Not a nice way to be treated when your a paying customer!!

This cafe, signposted from an adjacent building, is situated down a short route just off the main street.We were a little surprised to be told that it was closingin half an hour and were "not doing food", so insteadsettled for coffee and cakes which were fine.The premises were pleasant but I would have liked amore appropriate welcome.

As a Lymm resident I've visited here on many occasions. It's great for breakfast,lunch or just coffee. Closed on a Sunday & Monday which I think needs changing.

This is a small but charming place to stop at for a drink/cake. They have indoor & outdoor seating & the whole areas are clean & nicely presented.

Had a quick lunch here on a Saturday. Service was quick. Staff are knowledgeable about a decent menu. Try the specials board for food (some really good quality bakery). The coffee is very very good.

Never let down for an afternoon tea and this lovely place. Top notch food and presentation . I can honestly say I have been for many afternoon teas in Cheshire and this is by far the best of the best. I always come back time and time again. Highly recommend x

Dropped in here on the off chance a few weeks ago for breakfast. Very quiet at 8.30 in the morning and the french toast and coffee was not up to much. Trying to pay the bill was also difficult as the lady behind the counter had decided to wander off for 10 mins. There are better options in Lymm.

Please don't waste your time going to this establishment. The food is mediocre at best! I was served by a lady called Joanne who I believe is the owner. She was quite frankly the rudest woman I have ever met and incredibly mean to her staff. I don't understand how someone so awful and rude could be allowed to run a business. She was gruff and dismissive with me and my partner and had a real attitude problem when we mentioned our food was cold. Please avoid at all costs!!

I checked, it is 2 1/2 years since I wrote my initial review. I have visited many times since and the standard has been consistently high. So many establishments could take a leaf out of The Terrace’s book. Obviously the place is clean. I have always found the staff pleasant and helpful. For example on one occasion a friend and I decided we would order separate desserts then share them half each. The waitress must have overheard because when they arrived we had been half each of the two desserts. If I had a complaint it would be that we are spoilt for choice! It is difficult to choose one dish from the delicious selection on offer. There are specials to supplement the regular menu. There is always something different from the run of the mill to try. My dessert today was a chocolate brownie. Fairly ordinary you might think, but the presentation was worthy of a Michelin starred restaurant. The Terrace has hit on the winning formula, pleasant surroundings, absolutely delicious food served by attentive staff. Fortunately for me when I asked another friend where she wanted to meet for lunch in two weeks time she immediately suggested The Terrace even though it will entail a long drive for her, so I shall be returning very soon!

What a lovely place this is! Super busy on the day we went but we were shown immediately to a nice table and the service continued to be first class. Food was faultless and the price very reasonable. Would recommend and definitely re-visit

This is one of my favourite places to either relax or work. The food is always gorgeous, with a creative flair and service is attentive & cheerful. Amy & Kate take great care of their regular and new visitors. Great place

Went there for a 70th Birthday afternoon Tea...they looked after us so well and made the table look lovely we sat outside as it was warm food and wine were fantastic and the staff were so helpfull highly recommended

We've tried other places for coffee in Lymm and consider that The Terrace has the best coffee. So that's where we go for coffee when in Lymm.

Found this cafe by accident. It is off the main street and is a hidden gem. The menu is varied, small' but everything that comes past you on the way to customers look lovely. We had lunch with friends and the food was delicious. We all had different salads and each mouthful tasted fresh and was different from the norm. We have been twice for coffee and mint tea with the best bakewell tart I've ever eaten. (served warm of course). Staff are efficient and welcoming. Would really recommend.

Well, where do I start, what a wonderful place. It was a special birthday for my mum and there was a private table, set up beautifully, ready for guests to have afternoon tea.

We have been periodic customers at The Terrace for a number of years and decided to visit with friends yesterday. We reserved out table beforehand but needn't have bothered as the place was fairly empty - not something we had seen in the past at Midday on a Saturday.

Don't usually eat at non vegetarian/vegan restaurants/cafes but there aren't any in Lymm so looked online and found The Terrace Cafe. Was surprised to find a few vegan choices on the menu. Big bonus, everything we ordered was really flavorsome and fresh. Best vegan chocolate brownies I think I've ever tasted. Sticky and gooey inside, not the dry specimens sometimes presented with. Decent coffee too, ie not bitter and curdled.

Visited for breakfast and sat at the front outside (the terrace area has been taken from them which we found a little bizarre!) and all tables were vacant so we sat down as a table of 4 (there were 2 of us) as it was the only table in the sun at that point.

Fabulous breakfast but the sausage didn't give any satisfaction.the egg was perfect .ambience fab .service very courteous .

Great place for breakfast. Mid price range. Circa £12 per head. I ordered the veggie breakfast which was tasty and very good value. Nice decor and pleasant seating arrangement. It is in the heart of Lymm village. Great food and service and very popular with the local residents. I will definitely come again !

Went 26/05/18 after visiting our kids and grandson in Grappenhall. Wanted to visit this place for a while and it was so close to perfection. We had lovely table outside . Loved the tea pot with the fresh tea and purple lid such a great cuppa , I had full breakfast no bacon extra sausage, egg and toast was scrumptious, wife had a bacon sandwich she said best in ages now tomato sauce in a little dish perfect so environment friendly so why is the butter in portions which are not get rid of them do same as you do for sauce and you would get six stars from me. Definitely go back hopefully butter ply gone and butter in a dish will have arrived.

Haven't eaten here for a little while, so was sad to see that the actual terrace of the cafe is not available due to some problems with the lease.

Food was fine and the service was good as well but I’ve seen the way younger staff are treated by older staff and it’s disgusting, definitely will not be visiting again for that reason.

Very good ambience. But shallow. Visited regulary from Feb 2010 til.sept 2017 will never forget. Fab destination .faux Amie .

First time in Lymm. Small but very busy little venue, really interesting menu. Food tasted excellent and a great atmosphere.

I came here with family for lunch. I had an Italian club sandwich, my wife had the minestrone soup and my daughter had a vegetarian dish. All were very nice. The teas served are all traditional loose leaf tea. There’s also a good selection of home made cakes. The roulade with berries was my choice. The staff are very nice and the dining area is okay.

I had the full breakfast and a latte.the breakfast was beautiful .just enough the latte came with a little mince pie very nice. would highly recommend.

Best breakfast we have ever had. Nowhere else comes even close. We have been coming here for years and the breakfast has always been exceptional. Also the scrambled eggs are sublime. And don't even get me started on the hash browns. All of it. Amazing :)

Visiting our brother in law for Christmas, we all went to the terrace for a lunchtime meal. I must say I was impressed with quality, price and service.

Came here a while back but only just got round to doing a review, Absolutely stunning full english breakfast, eggs cooked to your liking, selection of breads for toast, tea coffee and OJ. staff were extremely efficient and prices are fair. I would recommend coming in the summer and sitting in the terrace outside, its simply beautiful.

We dropped in on a sunny day and were able to be seated outside. The surrounding are so beautiful and peaceful too. The food was excellent...so fresh and flavorful.

Poor experience, poor coffee but not cheap, very rude waitress and other staff brisk as if they had no patience to be bothered. Fortunately there are other better cafes in Lymm, will not return.

Popped in on a warm afternoon and we were very pleasantly surprised. We spotted the outside terrace from the main road and found the entrance, which was nicely done, just pat the nice butchers on the left. We didn't have a reservation but we're quickly shown to a table. The waitress was very welcoming and attentive and explained the specials etc. Having chosen quiche and also ranch sandwich, they soon arrived both with a nice side salad. Lymm is a lovely little town and you won't go far wrong earring here. One little word of warning, the outdoor terrace is a sun trap, so ask to sit in the shade if it gets too hot.

First visit to the terrace, wont be the last. Luckily the weather was on our side, so we got to enjoy the lovely terrace outside. Large and plenty space in the sun and shade if needed.Foos was fantastic, omelette arnold bennet was fab, served with 2 rashers of very tasty bacon. The good lady had avocado/eggs and extra bacon on the side, another winner.Fab coffee. Very good and quick service. All in all, great way to start our Saturday. Will return for sure.

We went here for a little treat for my mother's 80th birthday. We had booked for afternoon tea which was very reasonably priced. Sandwiches were delicious with plenty of filling, cakes and scones were scrumptious. The staff were very friendly and kept our teapots filled up. Will definitely visit again.

Went for lunch with friends today. Pre warned that we would have babies with us so they put us at a table right by the toilet and then asked if they could put the pranks somewhere else. Food was good. But had to keep going up and asking if we needed anything else or the bill. Staff seemed quite happy to ignore us.

My husband and I visited 'The Terrace' a couple of weeks ago for Saturday lunch as we'd seen it advertised in a local garden centre. We can't praise this lovely place enough, the staff were exceptional, the food was delicious (you've just got to try the 'Chocolate and Guiness cake' - heaven!) and the atmosphere welcoming. We'll be returning again soon!

I arranged a surprise 30th Birthday afternoon tea party at the Terrace for my sister! They had decorated the tables beautifully, catered for 34 with full afternoon tea and prosecco, really good value and everyone loved the Food! Staff were friendly and very accomadating! Brilliant

I visited 'The Terrace cafe' for a friends birthday, we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who was extremely helpful. The range of food on the menu and the specials board was excellent, and the cakes were delicious...I would highly recommend the chocolate Guinness cake!! The atmosphere was great and we all had a lovely afternoon at the Terrace. We are all looking forward to going back soon!

Very welcoming reception on entering, as early did not book but accommodated quickly. Excellent food, well presented and drinks to match. Service absolutely brilliant, quick efficient and very friendly staff.

Very busy - best to book. Serve the best breakfast - all excellent quality food and no grease in sight. Also do new healthy breakfast to choose from so something for everyone.

Popular cafe with prompt and attentive service. Varied breakfast menu including specials. Our eggs Benedict with bacon, perfect poached eggs & hollandaise sauce were delicious - as was the coffee.

As a Lymm resident I've visited here on many occasions. It's great for breakfast, lunch or just coffee. Closed on a Monday which I think needs changing.
