Are outside due to covid restrictions. Booked table. Very organised and safe environment. Took a chance on weather but hot water bottles and blankets ... And table umbrellas available if needed. Got lucky. Has some sunshine but wrapped up well just in case. Pleasant attentive staff. Good menu. Tasty food. You know it won't be cheap but it was a nice relaxed enjoyable meal. Will go again.

Visited with friends for the savory afternoon tea. The hotel is amazing, beautiful surroundings and lovely gardens. Ate in the glorious dining room, service was professional, informative and appropriate. Started with cocktails which were all perfect. Food was beautifully prepared and presented with an excellent choice. There was more than enough to satisfy 4 hungry ladies. This was a perfect dining experience. I fell in love with the hotel and will be staying there as a guest in the very near future

Mostly tasty, but not a great amount. Limited vegetarian options and desserts weren't clearly labelled. Great stay in the hotel, but not amazed by the food - maybe I just have the taste of a simpleton. Who knows?

I must admit you can't fault the location and the whole look and feel of this hotel/restaurant, however unfortunately that is where it stops. I booked an anniversary dinner - expecting fine dinning and service to go with it and was very disappointed. In fairness my starter - scallops and main course lamb stew was excellent, but my wifes fish was dry and the desserts were served cold - when they ought to have been warm. Recognising the price we paid I would have expected professional and friendly service - but did not get this and this is maybe why on a Friday the restaurant was not very busy.

We had afternoon tea & dinner here & the food was to die for. My only suggestion would be to allow more time before having dinner as the afternoon tea was so filling!. We were still full the following morning, still had our breakfast though, just didn;t(couldn't) eat for the rest of the day.

I'll stick to the facts so management can't dispute or claim it's just opinion. I tried to book afternoon tea as a gift for friends, staff told me I couldn't pay over the phone and instead would have to go to their website and buy a voucher then print it (the old classic A4 print off romantic gift). So I did, the website twice told me that payment had failed. I used another card, twice more it told me payment had failed. The next day my credit card statement showed I had actually been charged twice. This happens, no big deal. I called the hotel to tell them this had happened and seeing as I was out of pocket, would have expected them to at least humour me and pretend they cared. They said they'd call back (Monday). No response so I emailed them Monday night, no response. Emailed Tuesday, no response. Called Wednesday and spoke to them but have still not received the gift voucher that's been paid for. Not for a minute saying mistakes aren't made, just that for a business based on service I would expect someone there to give a toss. We won't bother them with our custom again

We had booked afternoon tea for my Mother's birthday. On arrival at reception we were pointed down the corridor to where afternoon tea was being served. When we eventually found the right place there were no staff whatsoever. Eventually after about five minutes someone emerged from another corridor and tried to find our reservation. At this point as it was a lovely, sunny day we asked if we could eat outside. Her response was 'has the wedding gone?' I'm not sure how we were supposed to know this but it was clear that she wasn't going to check herself. We said we would go out and try and find a table and she agreed that she would be with us shortly. As it turned out, there was a large wedding party just leaving and they had left complete carnage in their wake. Overspilling ashtrays, broken glasses, spilled drinks. We waited for the member of staff to return but it was about 10 minutes before another gentleman came outside to advise us that the reservation could not be found and they had run out of afternoon tea. It appears that there is a mighty fault with Handpicked Hotels central reservation system as apparently this has happened before. So, his solution was for us to return the next day. Clearly this wasn't acceptable as it was for a Birthday treat that had already been ruined by the inefficiency of staff at Handpicked Hotels. We requested that they serve us something from the main menu instead to which the reply was 'I'll have to check with the Chef'. At this point I asked if there was any chance of getting some drinks considering we had now been there half an hour. I also suggested it would be a good gesture to supply a complimentary bottle of Champagne. The waiters face was a picture! Obviously he had to go and check this with his manager but on his return agreed that the Chef would indeed cook something for us and that a bottle would be forthcoming. The food was mediocre, the Champagne poor and the general surroundings disappointing. At one point, the Police were called to the wedding guests, so not exactly the civilised afternoon tea we had expected. Whoever the manger was they clearly didn't feel it necessary to show their face and the whole experience at this venue was extremely poor and we certainly won't be returning.

Ate here one night during our stay at the New Hall Hotel & Spa. Went with the a la carte menu, but they do also offer a table d'hote option. All of our food was beautifully presented and extremely delicious. Staff were attentive, if not especially talkative, and there is a good wine selection. A good choice for a high quality meal, especially if you are staying in the hotel.

We renetly had our company christmas dinner at this hotel which we have been to in the past and have had a really fantastic meal but we were very disappointed with the quality of the meal we were served on the evening food was cold the turkey was served with 2 potatoes and 2 sprouts with some red cabbage the price of 45 pounds per head did not justify the overall experience also the welcome drink was just one choice and it was alcoholic and no other choice all the members of our party were quite disappointed

This is the restaurant at the New Hall Hotel in Sutton. There are two menus; the Brasserie Menu, which is high-end food at high-end prices. And the lounge; which is high-end food at middle-of-the-road prices. Whichever you go for, the food is excellent and the service pretty good as well. I had one of the best steaks I've ever had here.

A real disappointment - rare for the Handpicked Hotels group.Upon arrival we sat outside and ordered drinks from a lady, who appeared to be in a managerial role and waited twenty minutes for the to arrive. Then we had to ask for the menus and I began to worry. We noted the dining room was not ready, with the floor being swept and tables cleared. A sign we should have reviewed our booking! The service in the dining room, which was not busy, was terrible. Long unexplained waits; another table who arrived sometime after us being served first. The food was good, but without the quality I expected. two puddings were not what was on the menu. Impatience and despair set in - so we left. The probable manageress was nowhere to be seen.So if you consider Sunday lunch here (£25 for two courses) go somewhere else!

Have tried on numerous occasions to book in the more formal restaurant but it always seems to be closed. The hotel offers the same menu in the Terrace Brasserie and, although it is a nice room, it doesn't have the same grandeur or atmosphere as the main restaurant. However, saying that, did eat in the Bridge a couple of times and it was very cold and rather staid. So, the menu is quite impressive and, as mentioned, you can choose the a la carte of the fixed priced/set menu. We went for the a la carte - straight to the main and desert. I have to say that for the fine dining experience and the prices on the menu, the service does not do it justice. The manager (I presume) was rather forward and quite abrupt and a little bit rude for my liking in this kind of restaurant. The other staff also, although pleasant, would benefit from further training and how to behave to in a more courteous manner to guests. I hope that doesn't sound pretentious, but really, small things like placing the napkin, serving the wine etc.. all go to make a big difference. I guess they are though, the brasserie staff so may not be fully up to speed on how to serve guests in a fine dining restaurant. So to the food. I opted for the fish (think it was hake) which was beautifully cooked and served with delicious fondant potatoes and vegetables. My partner had the lamb which he said was equally good. Next to desert - I chose the vanilla cheesecake from the a la carte but was told I could have blackcurrant or passion fruit... hmmm ok. So I went for the blackcurrant which tasted rather manufactured and very sweet. So desert could have been better. My partner had the tarte tatin which he said was very good and did look a lot nicer than my cheesecake. That said, it was a nice evening and a nice experience. The food is very good and could be made a lot better by better staff. A new uniform may also help. They do look like canteen staff which again maybe reflects the fact that the main Bridge Restaurant is hardly ever operational..... shame.Would I go back - yes for the food and yes for the lovely hotel and setting. No for the service.

The approach to Newhall is beautiful as the gorgeous, moated main hotel building comes in to view. The Terrace Restaurant was well presented via a cute little bar within the main hotel building. Staff were courteous and attentive. Food was superb and beautifully presented. Menu had a good choice of dishes. Only thing preventing a five star rating was a couple of niggles such as the white wine not being completely chilled, but on the whole, this was a great experience with professional staff and delicious food.

My husband and I recently had dinner in The Brasserie on a Saturday evening. The food was very good indeed in terms of both flavour and quantity, all credit to the chef! On the down side, the dining room is very poorly styled for a hotel of this rating. It looks like someone has thrown together any furniture they could get their hands on resulting in a complete mismatch of styles which detracts from the overall experience. Similarly, the small bar adjoining the Brasserie is dull and dingy and not befitting of any decent hotel. Staff were friendly but started rearranging tables for breakfast whilst we were still at our table - very poor form indeed. In conclusion, great chef but this fabulous location has been let down by lazy management who have failed to recognise that there are other hotels in Sutton Coldfield such as the excellent Moxhull Hall, which puts New Hall to shame in terms of venue styling and service.

The atmosphere of home styled conservatory isn't quite what I'd expected from a Restaurant within a county hotel. Views over the courtyard must be lovely in the summer but tucked away int he corner of the room wasn't particularly special. Service was basic but friendly and the thick wine glasses aren't suitable for the fine wines served. Food was exceptional throughout but could have been so much better if served in a less cafe style ambiance.

Ate here as part of a stay at New Hall. The hotel is very nice overall but eating here in the evening spoilt what was otherwise a nice night away. An evening meal here was over £50 per head with a bottle of wine (for two courses!) and didn't live up to expectation. £21 for a coc-au-vin made in a traditional French style i.e. on the cheap and their excuse for it being made cheaply? Authenticity. I have a more thorough review under New Hall as a whole.

We stopped by The Terrace on the way from Manchester to Oxford on a Saturday night. The restaurant is at the New Hall Hotel and Spa and is in a beautiful building. It's located relatively conveniently off the M6 Toll, about 10 minutes after you turn off the motorway.Arriving at 7.45pm the Terrace was full. With only two waiters we started to worry about the service but it was fine, friendly and professional. However, the kitchen really let the place down. Our starters didn't arrive for 45 minutes and the main courses an hour after we finished the starters. While the food was fine the waiting time is really too long for a "brasserie".So if you're after a meal and be on your way, I can't recommend this place. If you're not in a rush and want to linger, then it might be an option, but the actual room doesn't have a view and is rather closed in.

I remember the original place that wsd focused on French cuisine. It couldn't be further from this now. It's so pricey for the standard of food. So pricey. Honestly go to the mere pool which would cost have the price. £5 for a bottle of fizzy water, pate with gluten free bread for my starter (about 7/8 pound?) Was a chunk of Brussels pate and a generic gluten free cob/roll/bap. Pudding (7.50 i recall) miso cheesecake. The largest point of the cheesecake was 2 inches at a push. A couple of broken pretzels and about a teaspoon of meringue. Really very pricy for sub standard food.. service and people were top.notch but it's very expensive sub standard food unfortunately. Being back the days it was a proper French bistro

Bit of retail therapy followed by lunch at Rouge. We enjoyed a glass of wine while waiting for our meal, had the two course menu. The chicken was fine, if a little tough and apple tart and ice cream delicious. I wish I’d asked the name of the waitress as she was charming, made us smile every time she spoke to us. We didn’t wait long for our food and will certainly come again in our next shopping trip.
