Orelle in Birmingham

I came for a drink with my husband and brother at the start of the evening. Would really recommend - the drinks were delicious, the service was great and the view is amazing.

My daughter and I had a beautiful meal I would highly recommend orelle the stunning views over the city made me very proud to be a brummie a special mention goes to maya our lovely waitress who was informative and so attentive without being intrusive I look forward to my next visit

Went for cocktails downstairs on a Saturday night. Service was awful, drinks weren't very good. Have previously eaten upstairs and it's been completely different.

Fantastic experience at Orelle, first time there and had the best evening. The service was really attentive and the food was great, I would recommend the pork main. We even had a chat with the general manager who was so welcoming which was a nice touch.

Visited Orelle a few times and each time has been amazing!! Services always exceptional, great food and excellent drink selection would highly recommend going.

We had a lovely "afternoon!" here. Started with wonderful cocktails in the bar at lunch as we savoured the views then followed a wonderful late lunch and wine leaving around 6pm. Staff and service were wonderful. The food was delightful, we managed starters and mains and I would certainly recommend the Côte de Boeuf - cooked to perfection.

Excellent service from booking a table, to drinks at the bar and then at the table. A special mention to Mikayla who paid full attention to our dietary requirements and Recommend what to eat. We were not disappointed. We were given a corner table which had fantastic panoramic views of the skyline. A big thank you to all at Orelle who made it a night to remember. I chose the restaurant to make a birthday for a friend special but was my worst disappointment . 1. Too cold! I now have a cold and we were uncomfortable all through. I had given notes to write happy birthday with the name. When they brought the cake non chalantly and said "they are told someone's birthday is on this table" it lacked a personal touch and we felt really down the whole time and left without dessert. We couldn't wait to get away. This is definitely my last visit. The food presentation was also very poor.

I chose this place to celebrate my birthday, expecting a special evening, but it turned into an absolute nightmare. The service was beyond appalling. The staff were not just inattentive but downright hostile, glaring at my guests and snapping at us as if we were inconveniencing them by simply being there. It felt like we had to wave flags or stage a protest just to get a server’s attention, and even then, they responded with icy glares and curt, borderline aggressive tones—shouting at us from across the room instead of approaching like professionals. The meal itself was a disaster. We were left to eat our food completely dry, as no one bothered to provide or even offer basic condiments. No one checked in to see if the food was to our liking or if we needed anything else; we were essentially abandoned at our table. I’ve had more attentive service at a fast-food drive-thru than at this so-called “fine dining” establishment. If it weren’t for the wine connoisseur, who showed a glimmer of professionalism, the evening would’ve been a complete waste. His expertise was the one saving grace in an otherwise dismal experience. Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone—not for a romantic dinner, a celebration, or even a quick meal. If you value your time, money, and dignity, steer far, far away.

It’s a pretty place and the waiters are lovely but unfortunately the food was absolutely terrible, the starters were still edible but the mains were terrible., we ordered a steak some rice and the soup of which only the soup was edible, the waiter was nice enough to remove the steak from our bill hence the 4 stars for the service but the actual food is awful. Unfortunately I’d honestly say don’t go and save yourself the disappointment.

This is a good restaurant with justifiable hype about its appearance. We had a table right on the edge of the restaurant and the view of the city is unmatched. The staff were friendly, if occasionally forgetful, and it could be hard to hear them as Saturday night appears to be party night - loud DJ-spun music which is oddly out of keeping with the French fine-dining vibe. Bear in mind if you have hearing issues. The menu and cooking was very good, and the wine list great. We had lobster and steak, both of which were cooked well. Had to remind staff to bring a couple of the sides. After an excellent bottle of Nyetimber, I ordered a coffee to finish - and it's nice to see Orelle continue the fine restaurant tradition of really terrible coffee after a great meal! Literally undrinkable, bitter coffee. (Why can't restaurants serve good coffee??) However, on a very positive note, the waitress spotted I hadn't drunk it, and deducted it from the bill. Definitely worth a visit.

I recently visited Orelle for a Sunday dinner with friends. The location is stunning, and the staff was genuinely polite and welcoming. We all enjoyed the starters, which set our expectations high for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, the experience took a downturn with the main courses and desserts. The steak was tough to the point of being inedible, and the pork lacked flavor entirely. The desserts were equally disappointing and didn’t meet the standard set by the starters. Additionally, a friend ordered an extra main—a chicken roast dinner—and we were shocked to find it charged at £58, far above the two-course price of £34. Charging that much for an extra plate of chicken seemed unreasonable. Overall, the experience didn’t match the prices. While we appreciated the ambiance and hospitality, the main dishes and unexpected charge left us dissatisfied. I wouldn’t return based on this experience.

A wonderful place. Food 9/10. It's worth it. And the view - you have to see it for yourself. I suggest in the evening.

This is the place to be for a sophisticated lunch or evening out. The food is amazing and Marcus and the team make perfect cocktails.

This restaurant is very good. Food tastes nice. The beef ,although I ordered for well-done, but it was perfect. The service was great, too. I gave 4 stars due to the music. The music that was played made it seem you were in a nightclub(it wasn't a relaxing music). I'll visit again.

Fantastic views, but awful service, had table booked for 1hr 30 mins for drinks only got 2 drinks due to lack of service, asked for water 3 times without it arriving. Raised issues with manager who offered no apology and just sent a wait with water. Very poor service

When asked to take service charge of the waiter started giving dirty looks, did not even say thank you to when we left just started talking to her colleague about us and looking at us. Felt very uncomfortable not coming back. Staff are not professional at all.

This is fine dinning at its peak, my friend and I had a brunch off the fix prixe set menu and our expectations were met and beyond. Ordered the corn fed chicken for the mains, which comes with mash and veggies and gravy, everything was well seasoned and tastes so good even till the last drop. We had the deserts as well, I had creme brule which I loved, I had a glass of red wine, loved it. and need I say the ambience itself is breathtaking, the views, and the food all contributed to a wonderful experience. Everything is 💯. Including Staff 👌.

Great spot with perfect service, food and drinks. Highly recommend for a special treat. Sound system that kicked in around 9pm killed the vibe in the restaurant though. It needs balancing a bit better. Luckily we were paying and leaving at this point.

Very poor service. Inattentive and disinterested staff. Purports to be a high end restaurant with prices to match but service certainly not up to scratch. We felt ignored throughout our visit. We have visited previously and enjoyed the experience but the lack of staff attentiveness was appalling. We will not revisit.

Hello everyone. Before I begin I must apologise to Orelle for not reviewing them sooner. It was very remiss of me and I am rectifying that now. It was the 10th September 2024 and it our 31st wedding anniversary. I surprised my lovely wife with a fantastic lunch at Orelle, 24 floors above Colmore Row, Birmingham City Centre. She was so excited! The restaurant itself is very tastefully designed. It is warm, inviting and so welcoming. The staff were so helpful and informative. Our waiter explained each and every dish when it arrived at our table. And I have to say each dish was not only a joy for our eyes but also a delightful pleasure to eat! Pure yummy fun! We could not fault any part of our anniversary lunch. The service was faultless, the staff were impeccably dressed and the food that came from their highly Chefs was jaw dropping! We are so looking forward to returning to Orelle again in the very near future. Well done to all involved at Orelle!

I recently celebrated my birthday at Orelle Birmingham and had a great time with the family. The staff were great, attentive, polite, friendly, and helpful. The food was excellent, and let's not forget the amazing views of central Birmingham on an evening.

Unbelievable delays, spent literally hours waiting to be seated, between courses and for plates to be cleared. Didn’t have time to even contemplate deserts or coffee. Really disappointing as the food when it finally did arrive was good - the view on itsown is not filling!

Overall a good experience for me, but not the best for the whole party. The staff where friendly and very helpful when it came to my dietary requirements. The food was really good, well presented and delicious. Their wine list is extensive, a real treat for a wine lover. This restaurants decor and views is superb, we where lucky to be there during a dramatic atmospheric event. Towards the end of the meal, the service declined; not sure if they where busy, but two of the wines where forgotten about, and desserts came after the coffees.

We invited the manager downstairs to cancel the late show fee but after all, we could not any food for arriving 3 minutes late. Go to Fumo or St Carlo or six by Nico I’d you are in the region for a helpful team and good experience.

We came here for cocktails. Undoubtedly a great view plus a great selection of cocktails. But the service is a bit slow and there isn’t much seating just for drinks. My biggest downside is the clientele. Gaudy and brash. Except to see wannabe wide boys wearing ankleless socks and skinny jeans. Muppets the lot of them.

Destination restaurant. Good views from the 24th floor. Faultless food presentation. Attentive service. Lovely place for a fancy meal or celebrations. Noted that all the seats face the windows so no one is looking inwards. Nice touch.

What an amazing restaurant this is. The food is amazing, the service is amazing, the views are amazing. My wife and I had such a lovely experience and were extremely well looked after on our visit. I would certainly recommend it, it is worth the money.

Having had a previous great experience here, today fell short by a long shot. The crab starter was extremely lacklustre, minimal crab on a bed of iceberg lettuce and overpowering citrus gems on top, couldn’t taste anything else, but likely due to the fact that there was so little crab. Sharing steak was good but the sides were cold (sent back), the small portion of fries that was included is only enough for 1 person, can you not spare two human sized portions of fries when guests are paying £55 pp for a 800g sharing steak? The service was beyond slow, so slow that I requested the 12.5% service charge was removed, the waiter gave every excuse in the book (I wasn’t asking for a justification) “maybe a member of staff called in sick today” “maybe we are a little busy” the restaurant was far from busy, around 50% occupied at best. Understaffed, but that’s not my issue…instead of offering to make it right by way of an on the house drink or complimentary dessert we were told “give us a chance again, you won’t be disappointed” -no thanks! To add, the restaurant was also uncomfortably cold. We left without ordering dessert after a painful 2hour event where we were served just two drinks for the entire duration.

Food was absolutely delicious 10/10 no faults at all. Service however was awful which I raised with the team so they removed the service charge. The waiter who told our table he would be our waiter never actually came to check on us once. In a fine dining restaurant it's etiquette to ask how the food tastes shortly after serving the table or if we need anything else (no one came or asked). A lot of servers kept coming back to re ask what we ordered, or forgetting drinks. Considering there was a large table I would have expected staff to ask if we need anything else instead of us having to flag people down constantly. We were given a round of free shots from the bar manager which was nice of her but this shouldn't happen in the first place as we expect good service in nice establishments such as this. Please train up your staff to provide 5* service, attentiveness to your customers goes a long way.

Came here yesterday. Felt so uncomfortable I just finished my drink and went to oyster club. Staff look down on u. And I went in alone. This was my favourite restaurant but not any more. Oyster club 1 MILLION PERCENT BETTER! AND CUSTOMERS SERVICE IN OYSTER CLUB was phenomenal!!!!! Would go oyster club every day. Orelle menu is VERY VERY LIMITED. Orelle bar staff are very stuck up and don't conversate well. Poor customer service. The Chinese lady all she does is look at u funny. The waiter or the host upstairs with the little bun has no customer service skills. Very snobby and looked down her nose at me. If u want better food an experience I'd just stick to oyster club

Faultless. The best experience we’ve had for a very long time at any restaurant. The service was impeccable from Riccardo Martorelli, despite being a busy Friday night. His knowledge of the menu was as good as his recommendations. Everything was perfectly cooked, presented & delivered to our table. The Chateaubriand was perfect. Excellent wine recommendations from Marco, who matched our meal choices perfectly. Highly recommended for food, drink & service but an absolute must visit when the view of the city is added to the mix.

Booking Confusion: I made a reservation through The Fork and received a confirmation email. However, I later received an SMS requesting a deposit, which directed me to a link on a different app, OpenTable. This was confusing and inconvenient, as I was not informed that a deposit would be required, nor was I aware that I would need to use a different platform. Promotion Menu Issue: Upon arrival, I informed both the receptionist and the waiter that I had booked through The Fork, and they acknowledged my booking. Despite this, I was not initially provided with the promotional menu. When I asked for it, I felt uncomfortable due to the unwelcoming and dismissive attitude of the staff. Menu Pricing Discrepancy: I eventually received the Fork promotion menu. In the fork app which clearly stated that the 2-course meal was priced at £29, and the 3-course meal at £35, both including a drink (wine). I ordered the 2-course menu and showed it to the waiter, who confirmed that the drink would be included. However, when the bill arrived, I was informed that the drink was only complimentary with the 3-course meal, and I was charged £17 for the two glasses of wine. This information was not communicated to me when I placed my order, which forced me to feel compelled to order an additional course. Booking Cancellation: After paying and finishing my meal, I discovered that my booking through The Fork had been canceled. This is particularly frustrating, as it has impacted my ability to leave a review or receive any associated benefits from booking through The Fork.

My partner brought me here for birthday drinks and it was honestly breathtaking. The view of Birmingham was really good, and the bar is very simple as to not distract from the view. The drinks were amazing and very unique not your regular set of cocktails. They were presented beautifully and tasted great. When we were here there was a live violinist. Overall the experience was very high end and I enjoyed coming here. Would recommend and would return.

Orelle! The views are spectacular! The space is grand, and fellow diners were dressed to match. The food is as good as you would expect. However, the service and organisation is patchy. Drinks served in the wrong order, randomly long waits, confusion about where to wait on arrival (downstairs? Upstairs? Here's a cocktail menu, but the cocktails are different in different places...) and for how long. It felt like a newly opened restaurant or pop up, but concerning when it's neither.

Fantastic food and atmosphere. Michala and the rest of the staff were perfect. While the dessert we got was great, it would be better if there were more halal options for dessert!

I booked a table for 2 during lunch and I was told I had to place the order as soon as... so we rushed and placed the order from the set course meal, we went straight for the mains then had desserts. Our mains got served over an hour from ordering, waiters ignored us amd when the food did come, my chicken main course was dry, I opted out for the jus as it had red wine but I was given no alternative and was stuck with a dry dish, it was a good thing I had a large bottle of sparkling water, even then I couldn't finish it. The two sides we ordered actually tasted fresh and made to order. The tofu dessert was very sticky and not nice to eat. I must say the presentation was good but the taste was way below par. Maybe I'm being too picky, but I expected more at a high end restaurants, especially when you take a date with you. However Deco was amazing and so was the view but lunch time was very disappointing.

You pay for the view. Period. Food was not up to scratch and over priced for the quality and the small quantities. More focused on aesthetics than a flavour experience. Was disappointed. Service very good. Food needs major improvement. Route to toilets so dark it's borderline dangerous.

Good service and good atmosphere but the food was a let down

First time eating at the rooftop restaurant and it didn't disappoint! Came for lunch with 2 friends, we ate off the set menu which I thought was great value and every course for me was perfect! Really great service, the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful and the setting is wonderful - I can imagine at night it would be spectacular. Can't wait to go back!

8 piece tasting menu. Every dish tasted so delicious and looked like a work of art. Service was the best ever.

We visited on the 26th July for lunch. The Prix Fixe Lunch menu was great value for money. Food was very tasty and restaurant was very nice. These are the dishes we ordered: • Betterave - Heritage Beets Tartare, Parmesan smoked almonds, preserved lemon ⭐ • Tartare - Longhorn beef tartare, marmite egg yolk jam, shimeji, parmesan tuile • Daurade - Pan seared Sea Bream, fennel, apple tapioca, lemon beurre blanc • Porc - Beetroot brined Pork, celeriac, black pudding, spelt, chicory • Framboise • Tiramisu ⭐ The tiramisu dessert was our favourite dish. But all food was great, will be back again soon. Meal was beautifully accompanied by a bottle of Nyetimber, very nice sparkling wine.

Ordered 2 steaks both over cooked and over priced. Not once was we asked if our meals were ok This place must honestly survive on the view only which let’s be honest is looking over Birmingham not New York. I cook better at home, seriously not worth the money.

ORELLE exceeded my expectations. Very tastefully decorated, such elegant simplicity on the top floor, as if from France. I was charmed by the tables situated between the trees with a beautiful view of Birmingham city at night. In addition, perfect cleanliness, exemplary equipment in the bar area, including your favorite alcohols from choice to color. All guests and hosts are polite and helpful, with a positive attitude towards solo travelers. Quiet, comfortable, countryside in the best style - I recommend it to those who feel a similar atmosphere and also beautiful live music played by a squeaky instrument 🎻 What a wonderful evening 🙌🌃🎻🫶

It is online that it closes at 11pm and you can’t book a table just for drinks, only walk in. Got there at 9:01pm only to be turned away even though we told her it would just be for drinks. That seems extremely early to turn people away especially because nowhere is that mentioned.

The restaurant has a perfect service, lovely staff and the ambience is high point. The food is not extraordinary, execution and in terms of creativity. But I highly recommend for special occasions.

Popped in to Orelle for cocktails to look at for a future night out, had Asian guy making obscene gestures to my wife and daughters, security spoke to him but it continued, won’t be making that future visit.

The setting itself is beautiful and view is amazing. It feels like a very special place. The food was delicious and very nicely presented. The service was very good apart from because for many of the staff English is not their first language we had issues when we asked the waitress about the cocktail event. After asking and trying to explain several times we gave up. The only other negative was the lack of gluten free options. On the set menu I could have 2 out of the 4 options for main and only one dessert. I’m sure there could’ve been alternatives suggested but instead parts of the meal were simply missing. For example the sea bream came without mash but nothing in its place and I was not advised about this. The staff did not seem very knowledgeable about gluten free and what did and didn’t include gluten. I would’ve expected much more from a high quality place like this in terms of allergy awareness. Having said that I really enjoyed the meal and it felt like a real treat. Just please look at the allergy alternatives and then it would be perfect!

Giving this place 4 stars because the service and atmosphere was amazing! I was awaiting visiting Orelle for 3 years since the announcement that it was opening! I must say in terms of decor, style and views, this is easily the most aesthetic restaurant in Birmingham! Really does give London/Manchester vibes😍 stunning I have visited the downstairs café a number of times as well as the fine dining rooftop restaurant. The service has always been very friendly, accomodating and the breakfast/brunch in the café was excellent. One main point for me was the lack of variety on the menu, both upstairs and downstairs specifically for those who eat Halal or vegan/Veg. As I am pescatarian, I ordered the fish dishes but felt the taste was not quite up to scratch, particularly for the price point. Also, a real disappointment for me was that the desserts also contained pork gelatine, which our waitress had kindly pointed out to us. This is a real shame as they looked divine and I really wanted to try them! I really encourage management and the kitchen to look into halal options further as many other fine dining restaurants in Birmingham offer a service where you can order 24/48hrs in advance. This would really have enhanced our experience and made it more enjoyable! Overall a great dining experience but a menu which needs tweaking slightly to accommodate more dietary requirements Thankyou😊 Updated June 2024: Orelle have unfortunately not taken on board any of the feedback I gave them in 2022 and have continued to have a very limited menu for pescatarian/vegetarian diets. We were told upon reservation that we would have a halal meat option on the Prix Fix menu but when we got there, were offered a completely overpriced whole chicken to share between two people which wasn’t what we asked for. The restaurant manager Riccardo was extremely friendly and gave us complimentary desserts and coffee which was a really kind gesture for the inconvenience that had happened regarding our booking. However, the sea bream dish we then had to have was very salty and not nice. On top of this all the desserts practically contain pork gelatine so we were limited to only one dessert. This was disappointing and just showed they aren’t willing to cater to a broad range of dietary requirements- when every other restaurant in Birmingham has so it was sad to see and unfortunately won’t be returning.

A real jewel in the crown of Birminghams food scene. The whole experience from start to finish was thoroughly enjoyable. Attentive staff, great atmosphere, food was amazing, especially that mackerel starter wow! It was our anniversary dinner and was made to feel very welcome - will definitely be coming back in the not too distant future! 10/10 guys 👏👏

Yesterday, my wife and I really enjoyed the whole experience from when we entered to when we left. We especially love the service provided by one of the staff members Maya, she was professional, attentive, helpful and made the experience even better.

Amazing 4-course tasting experience! Professional service and scrumptious food. The view was mesmerising at the top and I felt like I was having dinner in the clouds. Would definitely recommend!

We hired the private dinning room for a special occasion and Orelle didn’t disappoint! The views from the restaurant are incredible! The floor to ceiling windows are very impressive and help you take in all the sights. The staff are amazing! We were made to feel very special. They went over and above to look after us and make sure we had the best evening. The food was excellent and reasonably priced for a high end restaurant. The restaurant had a large event the same night and the kitchen didn’t make a single error and the food was cooked to perfection, well done! I would not hesitate to recommend and would go back!

I had lunch here with a group of ex work colleagues, we take it in turns to choose resturants, near where we live, 4 times a year. We had the set menu 2 courses. I had salmon followed by pork. We shared three sides dishes of mash, fries and veg, and had two glasses of house wine. Sadly the service was so slow we did not have enough time for any third course or coffees. The view from the restaurant on 25th floor is amazing, just be aware the toilets are on the 24th floor, you can walk down the stairs or call the lift to take you down a floor.

I bought tasting menu for my husband for birthday. It was so amazing Experience!!! Our Service team was lovely! Food delicious! View amazing, and all evening was just Perfect!!! Thank u so much. Hope we will back soon for A la carte dishes! Highly recommend!!!!

Brilliant overall. A little scary if you're not good with heights (as I'm not) but you get used to it very quickly and the staff were really friendly. Top notch service all round!! Cocktails were delicious. Decor lovely. Will definitely go again. I went with a mate, but would imagine it makes a great date. Would also love to go on Bonfire Night!

Went to the Simpsons / Orelle taster menu on 30th April. It was lovely but the second course that was given to me was a sourdough bread. I'd eaten half of it when I discovered a huge and I mean huge black hair baked into the bottom of the bread. I did show the waitress and had an apology but it meant every other course that then came out I scrutinised for foreign objects. This really spoilt a nice evening and a very, very expensive meal my husband had treated me to. Still makes me feel queezy thinking about it now.

Best views in the city! Excellent decor, service is good. Prices in line with the view and interior. Have visited the bar on several occasions and the restaurant once.

Amazing location, the views of Birmingham were surprisingly captivating. We were in the bar area which was lovely. The restaurant looked a bit busy and noisy with chatter. I thought the atmosphere would have benefited from some live music. Cocktails were delicious.

Was here for my wife's birthday for lunch not a great view in the day and vegetarian options are limited for her. Attempted to book a second reservation for an evening booking for business and was told a week before it has been block booked. Not great given these events normally take alot of planning and diary fixing. The Orelles team resolutuon was that they can offer another reservation at an additional restaurant, something which I can do myself. Crazy! Will not be going anywhere near here again...

Lovely experience, booked a table for the prie fix menu however portions were small and would have liked more vegetarian options, service was more than excellent, will definitely be coming back 😀 also no parking had to catch a taxi.

This is a fantastic restaurant with superb service on site. Delicious food, cocktails and amazing views across Birmingham & The West Midlands I'm knocking one star off. However, because online booking was not as smooth as it ought to have been. I'd initially booked via Google, which redirected me to "The Fork" to make my booking and secure it with my card details. Because Orelle uses Open Table, I then received several SMS messages pestering me to secure my booking with my card details again. It was very disconcerting to be receiving SMS messages asking for credit card details from an app that - as far as I'm concerned - had no connection with my booking whatsoever.
