Always love this place for a little treat. Caramel cappuccino was very nice. Berry cheesecake remains a firm favourite! Simply the best. Smarties cookie was very nice, Lemon meringue was nice but I found e few shards of hard sugar lumps in the middle.

Fabulous food, and service as always

Coffee was cold and flat, tasted very much like instant coffee. Perhaps need a bit more effort making it to a higher standard. Service was pleasant however.

The food is good but there service is terrible and they let people just que jump. They also expect you to que twice once for a table and then for the food counter no wonder why people can just walk in and pretend they have been seated. They also expect a tip before we even got the food so cheeky! Honestly a 2 is kind and the food is the only reason it gets any stars at all!! Will not be back. Also there was at least 5 empty table I could see from the 1st que not being used. The staff seam more concerned in making sure there where plenty of clean glasses available for an empty free fruit water jug then getting the que down.

We live close by and used to visit often. Unfortunately the price has increased but the service/quality has declined. All the people who review, honestly either have very low standards or have not visited a nice place in Southsea. We have ordered a bap that was fantastically sold on the menu for over £10+ as something fancy but it was very disappointing, and the fact that it was presented awfully chucked on to a large plate with half the plate being empty just looked sad. Pancakes & bacon again 0 presentation. I am not expecting Michelin star dining here but when you pay above average for a below average breakfast it’s really disappointing. We have ordered a flat white and a latte as well, they both came out exactly the same and were quite poor, lady was lovely but had no idea how to make a coffee. Staff was so so in general. Would not recommend but then again there isn’t much around.

Lovely food with plenty of tables . Friendly Staff

Have visited a number of times now, usually as a Sunday morning treat or pre-shopping relax before the crush. Parking is usually OK in a roadside space alongside the fence. Pick a table, read the menu and order at the counter. Food is served at the table where the utensiles are found in a small garden bucket. There is a choice of seating, either in or out under cover. The decor reminds me of a seaside hut with the various adornments. Food is always hot and tastey whatever the selection. The cakes are something else.

Took in very elderly parent with a stick, weather was cold, they advised tables were full inside so could only sit outside, which was fine, we asked if we could move inside when a table became free and she said NO that would not be allowed, is we wanted to sit inside we would have to stand and wait in the corner and we were not allowed to sit to wait to go inside. Bad customer service management teach your staff about the disability act, and looking after those that need assistance. Went to Parade Tea rooms a far better service.place has gone really downhill very rude staff that can never crack a smile.

We took some cake back for a birthday treat- these are delicious and you get a decent size slice. The decor creates a welcoming and relaxes feel, and we found the staff friendly and efficient. I was pretty disappointed with the breakfast though, I felt it was overpriced for the quality and amount of food we got. It would be great to perhaps accompany the kids pancakes with some fruit to perhaps make it feel worth the £6. I had the Bruschetta and it was just one piece of bread with some avocado, rocket, a few tomatoes and a bit of mozzarella - for £12, it was ok but I expected to feel more satiated upon leaving.

Been here twice within a couple of weeks cos the first visit was so good. We had the ultimate toastie (mac and cheese toastie) and the loaded fries- both amazing! Great selection of cakes. The brownie cheesecake was delicious and the carrot cake was the best we’ve had in ages. Nice atmosphere, dog friendly (under cover outside), polite staff. Oh and free parking for 3 hours outside was a bonus!

Great place for coffee and cakes, plus a delicious brunch/lunch menu, all made to order. The overwhelming choice of cakes ensures a second, third and fourth visit. Great spot, friendly staff, warm and no rush to vacate our table, it is always a pleasure to be there

I have given 5 stars because it's always been good tasty food. However, I do see it as a treat as I found it more on the pricey side. As it's so welcoming and friendly, you can see why it's so popular. The service was a bit slow and the deserts came out first waiting 10 minutes until the lunch items came which was a shame. The highlights were the Christmas Mac n cheese, the chilli jam ultimate toastie (where do you get that jam it's incredible) and the caramel Apple pie warmed up with custard! The brownie cheesecake, the main cheesecake part dominated and the brownie chocolate taste doesn't follow through enough for our liking. We will return in 2025! I wish the tenth hole could be located in different parts of the UK so we could just pop in whenever we wanted. Lucky for those that live nearby!

My wife found this place when we popped down to Eastney beach. Little wait for a table but well worth it. Lovely food and a real gem. Service was swift and we really enjoyed our lunch.

Festive Pasta is delicious, don't eat it all, I want more 🎅🌞🤶 Lasagne y Chorizo's pretty good too AND Update : - says it's still as tasty

Coffee and service was really good. Pancakes very small but berry compote was great. Scone was not fresh and also small but tasted ok.

The quality of the food has gone downhill. I visited 2 years ago and I had a lovely breakfast. I have visited twice more recently and the one time, the sausages were undercooked and pink and the second time, the egg was undercooked! I also paid £4 for a side of mushrooms that either came from a jar or a tin. They certainly weren’t fresh ones. Very disappointed.

What a find! Having a day out in Southsea and wanted a quick bite of lunch. Saw this place on Google Maps and decided to give it a go. Delicious food, dog friendly, free newspapers. Will defo be visiting again

A real find in Southsea. Freshly prepared food with generous portions all served with a smile. A great menu too. Generally busy due to popularity but you usually don’t have to queue and if you do, not for too long.

We came here for breakfast and the food really did taste fantastic especially great is that they don’t use cheap sausages. My only complaint is my breakfast cost over £20. I’m 6,6 and weigh a healthy 15 stone so there large breakfast was not enough. By the time I added hash browns, mushrooms and black pudding, to make it the full Monty, it took the cost to over £21😳 Lovely place with fantastic staff!

Food was okay, but staff were not friendly and very unaccommodating. It felt like they catered to dogs more than babies! They did not clear the table when we were seated, then complained about our pram but they would not help to move seating and watched us struggle. Our pram ended up right near the exit which felt like it could get stolen. Overall I wouldn't recommend it for mother's if you want to be made to feel welcome!

Loads of tables waited 10 mins to be seated, went and found are own table. 4 4 seater free one 6 seater free just in courtyard. Wanted coffee and cake told by very rude staff had to wait in the queue outside again

Been talking about going to 10th Hole for ages, really good. Loaded skins and burger, both fresh and very good. Only down side is we didn't have room for cake, maybe next time

Food is always decent. Atmosphere depends on when you come as it does get really busy But overall good. Service is good. Cakes are really good. Only criticism is the portion size on the meals could be better but overall 8.5/10

A difficult review to write, this place has been a family staple of ours for years. But it's really on the decline which is sad to say. I had a breakfast wrap and it was the the most oily bland grey lifeless bit of food I've ever eaten. Now I've had many and previously they have been decent but more recently they've been getting worse and worse leading to this abomination. The bacon had been flashed the pan, I think it was soggy lifeless and dead of flavour. The bulk of it was made up with cheap nasty flavourless cheese. That was litterally leaking oil everywhere with every bite. Normally it has a decent bit of cheese but this was about 40% cheese. Soggy oily hashbrown. Honestly one of the worst bits of breakfast food I've ever eaten. I never thought I'd need to find a new breakfast spot but at least the last 5 times have been getting steadily worse. I hope that it improves or that feedback is taken on board.

Being a local, this is always a staple within the area. If you go past and there is no queue, go in and treat yourself! The cake selection is insane here. Honestly, you will find yourself gawking at the fridge display, wondering how many or what you can eat! During the summer months, people queue out the door for a table (always a good sign). I have eaten here many times and would recommend the food, coffee and the cake. Order at the till and plenty of waitresses or waiters on hand, dog friendly and child friendly. This was the honeycomb Tort, absolutely delicious.

It's disheartening to write this review, as I've been a loyal customer of the Tenth Hole for more than 8 years. Unfortunately, I've noticed a consistent decline in quality over time. What used to be a place known for its exceptional breakfasts and attentive service has gradually deteriorated. I understand that the cost of everything naturally increases over time, but in this case, the rising prices seem to be accompanied by a noticeable decline in the quality of ingredients. The once delightful experience now feels overshadowed by a sense that the food no longer meets the high standards it once did, making it feel more and more like an overpriced establishment. It's disappointing to see such a beloved spot lose the charm that originally made it special. We get it, the cakes are good.

We came in for breakfast this morning, lovely cafe have been before cakes and hot chocolate amazing! However ordered the breakfast wrap and was very disappointed to see the sausages were not cooked properly I believe, they were very pink some of them and some more brown. I am pregnant and this has concerned me that they likely weren’t freshly prepared or cooked enough as this could be dangerous to me. Especially for the price I expected better. Would not come back again.

A wonderful cafe and great food. I’ve been coming here for many years. Amazing cakes and a busy jovial atmosphere. A little expensive these days but still a fantastic place for food and meeting friends. Can get very busy.

Incredible place for cheesecake. They have two varieties - berry and chocolate. The berry one is incredibly rich and just so so good. There can be some queues over the weekend.

Very slow service, took 30 mins to get a coffee and cake slice to takeaway.... about 15 staff and cannot do 2 transactions at a time and I threw out the iced coffee I got, was just milk and came in a milk shake cup...

This place is always busy, so I tried it on a Wednesday lunchtime and I managed to get a table. Unfortunately, they don’t sell milkshakes, but did have a good selection of tea and coffee. A nice selection of cakes.

Visited whilst on a weekend away on the recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint. It had a lovely busy atmosphere, very friendly staff, lots of seating inside & out. Cakes were to die for, we had the carrot cake & a fruit cheesecake & were the best we've ever had anywhere.

Never had a bad breakfast here. Highly recommended. Love the bubble and squeak.

I am surprised by the relatively low score of this place, I think it was outstanding, the cakes were delicious, so were the pancakes. Sandwiches looked great too, this would be a perfect place to stop by for a coffee and a treat

Very disappointed with my breakfast order placed through Uber today. I ordered 2 breakfast wraps, 2 sides of hash browns and a bacon sandwich. The bacon in the sandwich was clearly cold when it was put in, to the point that the butter hadn't even melted, the wraps look like they have just been thrown together and one of the orders of hash browns was missing. The cold bacon I just reheated but upon contacting The Tenth Hole about the missing item I was told there is nothing they can do despite it clearly being their error (the bag was stapled shut so it couldn't have simply been removed). Their solution - get a refund from Uber and wait up to 10 days for this to be processed and then reorder the missing items and wait another 45 minutes for it to be delivered, they would however put a voucher in the bag to cover the delivery charge (which I would of course have to use at The Tenth Hole). Terrible customer service from and establishment that used to have excellent food and service. Time to find another place to order our weekend breakfast from.

Honestly, if you love cake or genuinely great food, go visit this place. Eat inside or out, or if you're just after cake to go, buy and leave, but beware, the choice is vast so you might just end up with more than anticipated. I personally love fruit cake and theirs is one of the best I've tasted. Give The Tenth Hole a try, you won't be disappointed.

Got a takeaway lemon meringue pie. Unfortunately there was no lemon flavour at all in the filling. First time I've had a 'bad' cake from the Tenth hole.

Been here twice, the drinks were a let down. Second time we came our iced coffee was warm and bland, have to keep asking for more syrup. Mac'n'cheese was bland too, the tart and the fries were nice however. We don't mind waiting an extra 5-10 minutes as it always seems rushed. Won't run back here unless it's for cake :)

Used to love it here but I took my son today and the food was ruined by copious amounts of cheap margarine on my bacon and Brie sandwich and the amount of marg in my son’s ham sandwich ( even after I scraped out almost a tablespoon full) made it inedible. No one came to ask if our food was ok and in the end we left - will not be coming back.

Food was fine but not happy with the customer service we received today. We took be of the ketchups and upon opening it, it exploded everywhere, all over the table, floor and my wife’s clothing. I reported to the tall ginger staff member what had happened and I just was pointed to the tissues and ketchup upon the other side of the room, I tried to explain that there was a big mess around our table and was faced with ignorance and an uncaring manner. I took some tissues back to the table and returned the out of date carbonated ketchup and she just took it and threw it into the bin without any questions or offering to provide wet tissue or cleaning stuff to clean the ketchup from my wife’s clothing, the mess was left all over the floor! We’ve always loved coming to the Tenth Hole but this experience has completely left us never wanting to return, with the prices you pay to eat and drink here you would expect a good level of service from all of the staff, everyone else was very nice but the tall ginger girls customer service was actually shocking.

Recommended, had a light lunch which was very good. The place was full and all customers seemed happy.

Food not as good as it used to be, in our opinion!

Not overly impressed definitely gone down hill . Cakes are still great and worth going for to take away . Sausage door step sandwiches have about a cm thick of cheap margarine , literally oozing out the sandwich , they need to go a little Bit easy on the spread . I’d ask for it without , as it gives it a greasy spoon appearance and taste . Such big slices of bread which is great but with just 2 very small sausages in which doesn’t even go halfway to fill and therefore feel like you are eating thick doughy bread . The sausages were also barely Luke warm . Ice coffee tasted of and more Watery , lacked any taste of coffee , we couldn’t make out what was odd about it . Maybe lack of milk and coffee and lots of water ? Latte was also weak and luke warm . Prices are getting out of control too . Breakfast costs are more like costs for going out for dinner now always Sadly not for us anymore .

I have not been for breakfast here for a long time. I was not impressed this morning, my bacon was barely warm, also the sauages were not hot just lukewarm. Unfortunately I don't think I will becoming back for breakfast. I Would of sent it back but had to be somewhere.

Been a while since we last had a breakfast here and had reasonably high expectations based on reviews and how busy it was. GF breakfast was £11 but with no sausages as not GF. My son had the sausages which looked really good but not great quality and he didn't eat them. GF breakfast was "ok" but just didn't taste that special. Overall disappointed and sad to say won't be returning for a while. My Samsung phone makes the food look much better than it tasted.

Good food in a busy cafe adjoining the 9 hole pitch and putt. Good choices for breakfast and lunch plus lots of cakes on offer. We enjoyed a decent jacket spud with cheese and beans and a chicken Caesar wrap. The pitch and putt is good fun.

The cakes were delightful, especially the fruit slice and the chocolate cake—they were truly exceptional. There was a slight delay with our friends’ order, and a minor issue with something floating in my water. Despite these hiccups, we had a pleasant experience at the café. We’re looking forward to returning for another round of golf!

The only fault I can say is the vegan sausages are awful. Other than that, awesome staff, and insanely good food, if not a tad pricey. Highly recommend getting one of their birthday cakes too..

Bought the battenburg cheesecake & was extremely disappointed. It was just a cheesecake with battenburg bits of cake on it. Was expensive for what it was. Won't be going or recommending this place

Great place to come for a quick coffee and cake or a light lunch. Will likely come to try the breakfast some time! Plenty of seating available when visiting during late lunch period on a Thursday. Enjoyed watching people pitching and putting on the green as well (to be tried on my next visit).

Was told this was one of the best breakfast spots in the city and it didn't disappoint. Tasty full english and amazing cake. All the staff were really lovely and you could tell they all loved working there.

Used to love it for cakes, but we feel that every time we go, the size of the cake is different, depending if you eat in or have it for take away...when you pay over £4 for a slice of cake you would expect some consistency and the same sizes. We had some mixed berry cheesecake to take away and the biscuit part was all wet and creamy just like the cheese part, whereas last time it was nice and crispy you could clearly tell the difference. Disappointing

Average busy cafe vibe, dog friendly which is a plus. Fairly quick service, food was ok the cheese toasty was quite sickly (could just be our taste) we all tried it and said the same. Quite pricey food and all slightly different not your usual beef burger etc, so options could be limiting if you’re a fussy eater. The jacket potato was massive. The chicken Caesar wraps were good.

The food was very good, a little on the expensive side; service excellent. The atmosphere would be good if it wasn't spoilt by the ubiquitous "gay pride" flag signs. Frankly, I get sick of seeing this stuff everywhere.

We recently worked with Bill to refurbish the chairs in the cafe to match their newly redecorated dining areas. Everytime we arrived with a new delivery of chairs the place was always busy. Everyone working was always smiling and happy, not once did we see a grumpy face. There was always a great atmosphere. It's a great place to visit, we always drove away with a smile feeling better when we left than when we arrived, not to mention a pieces of free cake we got. But we will keep that quiet Ssshhh!!!!!

Disappointed with our most recent breakfast experience. £11 for full English, no mushrooms but pay extra £2.50 for a small portion + extra for overpriced hash browns. Would have been happy with the cost (due to location), if the sausages were decent (unfortunately they seemed undercooked & a strange consistency)and it wasn’t all luke warm, including the cappuccino’s we ordered. I don’t think we’ll return as have enjoyed breakfast’s more for almost half the cost at a local cafe. Sorry if this was just an off day as I have had better in the past, not sure what happened on this occasion?

Completely random find, as I was visiting the area. But, what a cute little place! I can see this place buzzing in the summer. I sat outside on a drizzly March lunch and wasn't cold. Reasonably priced food and drink, good-sized portions for an adult and so much CHOICE! Teas, cake, breakfast, lunch etc. Milk alternatives available for vegans Overall a lovely, cosy atmosphere with very friendly staff and easy ordering system. Somewhere I'd love to come back to visit again. Multiple toilets available and it's a Dog friendly café too 🐾

We visited for breakfast on mother's day. It was busy as we expected it might be, however despite how busy it was the staff were attentive, friendly and very helpful. The food came quickly and was hot. There was a fairly long queue when we left, but I think that's just a sign of how good it is! We couldn't resist getting some cakes to takeaway! Definitely will be back again. We sat outside and there was plenty of room for our pushchair.

Food was adequate while we were in there, we then decided to take some cake home. Only to find that when we got home the advertised cake portions had been cut in half but were charged full price. Will be sticking to parade tea rooms in future who give you the exact slice they show on display. Maybe they thought because we were taking away we wouldn’t notice? The brownie pictured was full squares on display.

Superb out of the way cafe with ample street parking. Amazing food and great value for money. Very popular with short queues to be seated at busy periods. Well worth the wait and hard not to come here when in Southsea!
