Marina bar & cafe in Portsmouth

The young girls serving were rude and clearly didn't want to be working, shame because it spoilt the visit. Smile and politeness goes along way!

We decided to try this cafe in the evening as we pop in here regularly for coffee after walking in the mornings. We weren’t disappointed- the pie was puff pasty with steak & Guinness . You could really taste it too. Our friends had the steak which was beautiful We had fish cake specials really nice too The staff are really good & always obliging Hoping to go again & sit outside in the sunshine

Loved this place situated by the marina. The service and food were excellent. Nice outside seating area. We had an enjoyable time. Have recommended to friends. Will certainly go again. Has parking available which is free if using the cafe and some of the other businesses.

Had a lovely evening at The Marina last night. The staff were super friendly, the whole place was spotlessly clean and the food was absolutely delicious. We both chose the chicken wrapped in Parma ham from the Specials board and it was absolutely delicious. Being a weekday night it wasn’t very busy but the ‘locals’ were a friendly bunch. The view over the marina is tranquil and the sunset was gorgeous. I’ve only had coffee here before but I will definitely be back to sample more food - and definitely the apple crumble which we just didn’t have room for ! A lovely experience in a welcoming and ‘homely’ environment. Thank you 💜

I found a hair in my breakfast, I gave it back to staff and said I did not want another one, and they took it back to the kitchen. I waited for a while for some feedback, but no one came, so I approached the staff member and ask if I can have a refund. I was told that it is not management policy to give a refund, it is their policy to replace the dish at that time. I explained that finding a hair in my food instantly made me lose my appetite, and asked if it is possible to be given a food voucher for the same amount of money, I was told again that it is not their policy. I felt sorry for the staff member, they were clearly embarrassed. I assured staff it is ok, it's not your fault and suggested management reconsider their policy especially around issues of hygiene. I refuse to play down an issue of finding hair in my food, it is not acceptable. An apology could have been given at least, consequently I don't think I will be ordering food any time soon. It is a real shame that I had this experience and upsetting. I would like to add that on the whole the Marina Bar is a lovely place to visit, it is in a great location, and a great place to sit outside having a drink in the sun.

Just had the Mediterranean haddock and it was awful hard new potatoes served with soggy onions and the fish was so thin no worth the money

Very disappointing Sunday Roast. Vegetables undercooked. Food not very hot. Very draughty cafe/bar as doors both ends are opening & closing all the time, but always left to slam shut by customers & staff. Staff throw empty glass bottles in a container near the bar, so every now & then there is a crash. Obviously a very busy place as it is in an unusual location & been there for many years. Not somewhere we will be going back to.

Frankly disappointing. Last time I attended it was good. The last time I went, I had to wait over an hour for a salad and a sandwich, and when the food arrived, the salad smelled off and I had to get a refund. Some staff are rude and abrupt when answering questions, others are friendly and helpful. It's a shame because it's a nice place to relax by the water.

First time visit in terrible weather. Was greeted straight away and made to feel welcome. Only had a coffee which came with a complimentary biscuit.but will be back for something to eat in the future as parking is free and adjacent. In better weather the views will be great.

Don't order the fish pie!,should be called fish surprise, you don't get any!,creamy mash with very small pieces of salmon £17!

Not impressed with my breakfast …told staff member it was cold and rather than making a fresh one they put it in the microwave and it came back boiling hot and not very edible 🤢

Surprisingly pleasant every time. Nice to see boats and in the distance the South Downs but with reasonable quiet. Food is good quality and very decently priced. Staff always friendly. We like coming for casual lunches and always get a table.

What an excellent place for breakfast. They also serve meals up to 8.00 pm , which look good value for money. Friendly staff and efficient service. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Unfriendly. It seems to be a place for regulars. No acknowledgement from staff on arrival nor when leaving, even though staff were just standing around.

We went for another breakfast today 30th September just as good as first great meal great staff you can take your dog too. Also try Sunday Dinner a must. Try pie and chips after midday that’s 100% better than my local fish/ chip shop. Martin.

Sorry this is late but on the 11th August my daughter had her wedding reception there like most wedding it's very stressful but I really would like a big shout out to Sarah for understanding and getting what we wanted and putting our minds at rest u truly came through for us all and to Kim and jodie thanku for putting up with us all and all what u did u all did amazing job thanku again ❤️

Pleasant place with excellent range of food, reasonably priced. Great location and food was very good. We had dinner and breakfast next morning and found food tasty, hot and freshly cooked. Only downside was that staff were not very friendly and were quite brusque, although service was efficient. I felt this detracted from the atmosphere, and despite the setting there was little ambience.

Probably the worst burger I've had in a while really dry and couldn't finish it such a shame as I love it here. Staff didn't ask how the food was felt disappointed

Went here for the first time a few weeks back after a recommendation , I was there around 9am on a Friday. Was told the all day brekkie was good and I wasn't disappointed. Great food, well cooked , well priced , great view o wr marina, will return.

We call it’s our secret hideaway because it’s just so perfect and comfortable, cheap prices with amazing food and you can have a good laugh with the staff ! Love it

Very friendly, lovely location if you like boats. Food is home cooked to good cafe standard but don’t expect fine dining. Great value for what you get though. Terrific desserts and gateaux

Small place but mighty in terms of great food and great service. The clink of the nearby ropes and masts on the berthed yachts is actually quite a calming feature. As for food, I had the gammon for lunch and did not expect the fabulous thick slab of a gammon steak! Wow what a tasty slab that was 👍

Just dropped in with friends for a drink on our way to The Hayling Island Ferry. Lovely young man serving, by the name of Joe, very polite, very helpful & wore a great smile! He went out of his way to assist us. Great service, idyllic scenery over the marina.

The food is always good and the service is excellent. It's dog friendly too, which is a big bonus for us.

I love this place and introduced a friend who also loves the food and atmosphere as much as I do. I just need to be strong and not go there as often as I want to.

A fab little cafe bar serving the marina boaties and the passer-by. We only stayed for 1 drink and a tasty bowl of soup. Great view of the marina. Staff were very friendly.

We love this place. It looks unassuming from the outside but is spacious and well laid out inside with decor befitting a marina-based cafe. The food is tasty, well presented, of a high standard and reasonably priced with a delicious all-day breakfast coming in at under £10. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. There is plenty of free parking outside, and there is wheelchair accessibility.

Lovely setting. Well cooked food. Clean and hygienic premises. Politr staff. Would recommend. Bit pricey though. Suppose you pay for the View. Will be back sometime soon.

Had a large family Christmas dinner here last week and was very impressed. Excellent service throughout the evening and very good food. Considering we were a party of 21 they went out of their way to ensure we had a great evening 😀

Been to a few eateries in Pompey over the last 9 months and for my mate & I the marina bar surpasses the overall experience of other places we’ve visited. Very tasty food, reasonably priced with caring service. No hesitation in recommending a visit to The Marina Bar!

Great place to come and have a few beers and some quality food overlooking the picturesque marina. Allowed our two dogs in too ! Perfect

Todays fish & Chips was fabulous we enjoyed our meal the only problem we had was that the music is to loud.

DOG FRIENDLY!!! Went for a birthday family meal. Staff were great, the service couldn't be faulted. We booked prior, and they accommodated perfectly, even for a pooch! Great food at amazing value for money! Amazing selection of cakes too! At Eastney Marina, perfect for a Sunday Roast, or a coffee and cake after a walk!

Great view, my local café/bar . Relaxed atmosphere, but can't charge phone/laptop if like most cafés you want to work there? Simple menu, but regularly updated and happy there are vegan options. However, the food can be bland, so would be nice with herbs and spices added and healthier bread options. E.g. sourdough. Good value price wise. Friendly staff .Thank you

Sunday 19/06/2022 got here Sunday roast. Beef was so soft and flavoured well. Decent amount of vegetables. 4 stars because it was windy but expected it

Clean bar, welcoming staff and a decent basic menu. The food was well cooked and presented and a post lunch drink in the sun looking out over the marina ended a very enjoyable lunchtime.

Fabulous lunch here today. Sun shining, attentive staff and loved the smoked mackerel salad. Hubby had the pizza, half of which he had to have boxed for later

Now I really enjoyed my crispy belly pork and veg but the other diners didn't enjoy their meal selection as much. Based on my experience its a solid 4

Lovely location especially on a sunny day when you can sit outside. Delicious freshly made sandwiches served with chips at reasonable prices.

My partner enjoyed his sausages and eggs. My avocado poached eggs could be bigger but in general would recommend 😊 very friendly staff

It's a bar with a nice sun area. Service and quality of food is hit and miss. It's in a lovely area and is local to me with nice views of the marina.
