Best brunch spot in Portsmouth. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and food is amazing. Portions are a great size and price is a little more expensive than other places but the quality and experience is worth it. Eggs are always cooked perfectly!

The first time I went there was on the weekend, and I had to wait half an hour at noon. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything to eat. So I visited the garage lounge for the second time on a weekday. The eggs Benedict were very delicious, with hollandaise sauce, runny eggs, and bacon fat exploding in my mouth at the same time. It was a very satisfying brunch. The service is very warm and the environment is very comfortable. I will come back again.

Very very poor customer services...disgustingly rude waitresses (and I do not discriminate the gender) no matter who will serve you male or female they are all rude! Today, someone opened the front door wide open. As we were sat down next to the door I was cold and I went to close the door. One of the waitresses came to me and told me to leave it open as the air needs to circulate throughout the restaurant. When I've asked her to move me to another table she gave me two options first one was that this is the situation (no other table available) or if I dont like it "I can also leave" (HER WORDS)!! So, if you want to be treated like this and you have no issue with it, the food is really good!

I went here with my gf while we was a uni student and it was really nice, especially the atomsphere. The music the aesthetic, everything was good. I would definitely recommend going here for an evening date.

The second time having a sweet breakfast must say, although somewhat tasty, I'm not a fan, also mushy 🥑 avocado no no... loved the smoke salmon, yummy sausage, and overly crispy bacon....pancakes could be more fluffy and lighter, was a bit too thick. Possibly leave the pouring of the syrup to customers... it just like gravy not every one wants it all over the plate.... I will try again...

The best granola I’ve ever had! Lovely service, tasty coffees, and a good spot to work from. Delicious cakes too. We’ll definitely be back to keep working our way through the menu

This is a really lovely establishment, great selection of food, I generally have one of the pancake dishes - yum. Service is always first class. Certainly more expensive than most cafes, but the quality of the food justifies the price IMHO.

My Sunday breakfast spot, I go for a swim and spot by the garage lounge slowly working my way through everything on the menu and really loving it! Can’t wait to try the pancakes next Sunday! Xx

Came for lunch, I love the place so welcoming but I ordered Rooibos tea, said it, with my accent. The waiter went to the other side to share with her colleague how I said rooibos tea, just had them laughing. So rude, made me feel worthless. Really not nice. I don’t like the attitude. I was so unhappy.

I liked the food, the staff was great too, however I don’t think it was great value for money. The food was around £14 which felt a bit overpriced for its quantity. Apart from the price everything else was great.

Really like this place, has an authentic feel. Used to come here a lot but sadly upped their prices a bit too much recently for me nowadays.

I took my mum and young son for breakfast on Friday. The venue is beautiful very inviting and warm. The food was ok but I think it was very over priced in all honesty. £5 for a kids pancake with some chopped strawberries seemed steep given its portion size. It was lovely and we did enjoy ourselves, maybe as a one off treat but I wouldn't be returning regularly as 2 adult breakfast, 1 kids pancake and 2 small coffees £39.00.

Great cafe with a nice vibe. The granola was to die for. Great flat white and fresh squeezed OJ. The staff even brought my dog a bowl of water. Can’t go wrong here!

Good Eggs Benedict had at this place. The oat latte is massive!

I had their chicken Caesar salad, it was the absolute best would recommend. The Staff was lovely too

After a stressful couple of weeks! Late and orange cake. Excellent service and delicious cake. Really home made. A little bit crowded but great none the less. I'll be back!

The place is very cozy and picturesque. Just the amount of meetings is a bit too much for the space, so it'll be always crowded. But I'm very satisfied with the service and food! Thank you!

This is the most incredible place for breakfast. Classic lounge breakfast is awesome. The Granola is the best I ever had. Kids got perfectly what they wanted. Coffee is surprisingly delicious. Kids voted 9 out of 10 for the breakfast. We adults gave them a 10.

service was friendly, but food did take a while… eggs florentine was beautiful, however the steak ciabatta was a bit over cooked and dry. decor was chic and had a nice cozy vibe to it.

The Garage Lounge was somewhat disappointing. While the food tasted great, the service was lacking; we often had to flag down staff to pay or request additional napkins. Additionally, the cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired—it clearly needed a thorough cleaning, from the cushions to the overall environment. Though the dishes were enjoyable, the atmosphere and service require significant improvements.

Visit here every 2 months . It has character and a good atmosphere with a kind of Viennese look to it. Service is good and menu just the right selection from toastiest to coffee tea scones etc. Prices are fair I would say and the staff are polite and helpful. Happy to recommend.

Lovely little place, great food and coffee ! Only thing I would add is that there isn’t a massive vegan range . A few things and one cake usually, if it had more I would definitely visit more often ! Staff are polite and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and polite Went with the American pancakes which came with a fries egg, bacon, sausage and maple syrup and I have to say, that was one of my favourite pancakes I've eaten in a while! I had a scan of the cafe and the food that other people were eating looked delicious as well which is always a good sign

Visited again today intending a coffee and something light. Ended up having the salmon omelette which was very nice, and accompanied by by a really tasty (and healthy) salad of cherry tomatoes, peppers (I think) and cheese. Being accustomed to inedible salads in other places (no names mentioned!), this made a really nice change... Have recommended you to friends and aiming to pop in again next week...

Great experience today. My partner and I travelled to Southsea from Southampton in hopes of finding a good brunch spot and we were not let down by the Garage Lounge. We were seated promptly and our drinks/food arrived very quickly. Lovely cold pressed apple juice & fantastic iced coffee. I ordered the veggie breakfast which was incredible and just enough. I find that when portions are huge, the quality is lacking however this was the right size and everything was delicious especially the poached eggs which were perfect! My partner ordered the standard full English which was far from standard and got his full approval. Service was great from start to finish and we didn’t have to wait long at all to receive our meals. It really is a lovely, chilled spot amongst some other places that seemed far less desirable. I also found prices reflected quality and given that the quality was high, the prices were pretty standard and affordable. Would definitely return. My one and only criticism from my partner would be that the bacon was not to his liking and slightly too fatty but I can’t reflect this in my review as he can be fussy! Overall great.

Poor quality greasy spoon, charging restaurant prices! I had the full English at almost £15, was all cold and over cooked, except the sausage, yes, 1 sausage on a £15 breakfast and that was actually fridge cold. Nothing good at all to say about the food, even the coffee didn't taste good. The service wasn't great too, I asked to not have the beans and tomato with the breakfast, but it was still served on the plate. When I paid at the end, the waiter asked, 'how was your food' I replied, cold! And he just said, 'Huh, okay'. This will definitely be the first and last time going to this cafe.

Been to the garage lounge a couple times over the last week. The food is absolutely amazing and will definitely be back in the future! The milkshakes are so good too! Wish they did delivery!

Quite a nice cafe/restaurant, with kind staff, good food, and cosy decor. We were a bit put-off by how busy it was, but we did go around 12pm so that was to be expected. I was quite disappointed by the complete absence of vegan options. Our server was very kind though and served me the veggie breakfast with no eggs or halloumi (though I'm not certain it was 100% vegan like that, but by this point my partner and I were too hungry and frustrated from looking for somewhere to finally have breakfast to check). The food was delicious, though the portions were on the smaller side. We both thought the hashbrowns were amazing! Overall a nice place, but would be better if they had specific vegan options again - not sure why they were removed altogether, considering the other review about this had a reply suggesting they planned to add more.

A warm welcome was a good start. Service was v efficient. Coffee was on the week side, unfortunately. My wifes granola looked amazing, and she was in raptures. I chose sourdough with avocado and poached eggs. Good on paper, but a little below par when it came... could have done with a bit more avocados, and bread been a bit more toasted. I should have had the full english.....

First time visit, looks good from outside, not good value for money food, goats cheese salad very poorly made, very expensive place to eat very average food. I don’t think I will visit again…

What a lovely place with the most amazingly quirky decor. Charming nooks and antique inspired areas for seating. The amazing choices for breakfast / brunch with a fantastic staff. What’s not to love.

Great food, great atmosphere, we even treated ourselves to a slice of delicious red velvet cake at the end. 4* because aside from the great service from one waitress (blonde lady, in a skirt) who served our food, and checked on our table, the rest of the staff seemed irritated to even be in the building. One was often stood adjacent to the coffee machine, arms crossed looking completely unimpressed, ignoring all of the guests around her. Their negative body language and poor service was the only thing that brought down an otherwise lovely brunch.

They asked us to leave after 1h 15 min.. Really disappointed 😞

Lovely place. Unique & funky vibe. Delicious food, a bigger serviette would be appreciated though, a tiny square ⬛ of one doesn't do it I'm afraid. But it didn't take away from my overall experience 👍😍

It’s obviously an amazing cafe with a great atmosphere. They serve some delicious breakfast and drinks . I ordered my favourite breakfast which is Avocado egg with flat white and it was delicious and nice. I would recommend everyone to go there for some great coffee and some atmosphere :)

Lovely little cafe for breakfast. The food was nice and so was the coffee. A little expensive for two of us for breakfast though. Saying that, I will be back next time I’m local for breakfast.

Always a pleasure to come here. Firstly, they do the best coffee in Portsmouth...perhaps even Hampshire, a perfectly made latte. Choose large. You won't regret it. Secondly, the food is excellent, with good size portions provided (excellent bacon sandwich, or ham and brie). Finally, there is always a good buzz and atmosphere. Service is good, but could be a bit friendlier...mind you, they're probably pretty rushed!😯 If you've not been, give it a go. I don't think you'll regret it. 😊

Came for the first time on Monday and had a hot chocolate and the Granola, it was good quality and delicious. Came again the next day as I was impressed. Nice atmosphere and lovely waitresses. Always seems to be busy. Highly recommend. One of the best places in Portsmouth for coffee, food etc ..

Super location for a short business meeting!

They were able to fit our table of 6 in on short notice which was awesome, but I'd recommend booking ahead as we probably ought to have done! Delicious food, a very unique meal of marmite mushrooms which we'd never seen anywhere before and was really great! Their cheesecake is very generous and decadent and they have good drinks options with a great range of interesting teas. The decor is also really fun!

Lovely place with Great food and really good coffee which can be a rarity I think. Service a little slow hence the 4 stars for service rather than 5 but the staff all really friendly and helpful so no real complaints at all.

Editing my 5 star review from 5 years ago to say that this place doesn't quite have the charm it used to. I'm not sure if it was just because it was a bank holiday but the staff were a bit miserable and the pancakes aren't what they used to be. Beautifully presented, don't get me wrong but the consistency was a bit chewy like they'd been reheated. Completely accept that's sometimes how they have to be done but it was very obvious. Meal didn't feel like it was worth the 20 minute drive and the 35 quid it cost.

First visit meeting friends for the first time in a long time. Perfect atmosphere. Excellent service and food .... highly recommended.

Food is really tasty, we had breakfast twice at that place. But it was very strange that both of our tables were not stable and were shaking.. it should takes 5 minutes to fix a table..so it is more comfortable to sit and had a food...coffe was really good!

I often frequent the garage lounge. It is a lovely venue if you are not concerned about price.

The Garage Lounge is a great cafe in Southsea that has some delicious cakes and other sweet treats. We had the Biscoff Cookie Pie and a Raspberry and Lemon cake slice. The coffee (espresso) was pretty good too. The venue has a nice and relaxing vibe.

Couldn’t recommend enough. Best breakfast I’ve had in maybe forever? Honestly it was up there. Delicious coffee, lovely surroundings
