Proper pub pub. Great atmosphere and people. Excellent music venue.

Good service. Great sitting outside in the sun listening to live music. Nice traditional Public House.

Very different vibe now its being run properly. Much lighter atmosphere and it seems cheaper for a beer now. Would definitely recommend.

Great pub near the ferry terminal. Friendly helpful staff who happily allowed us to charge our bikes while we quaffed well kept beer.

Great friendly pub with live music every weekend

First time here since being taken over, twice. Saw a friends band. Sadly now a very limited choice of real ales but the one I had was a good pint. Friendly service.

Great people and service. A real gem in Portsmouth and well worth a visit. We'll be having a pint again that next time we visit. Clean toilets, polite and courteous owners.

Great pub, really welcoming, prices very reasonable. We were visiting Portsmouth from Blackpool this was a great pub to chill in after our days out round Portsmouth/isle of wight. Topped off with a win for Blackpool FC! Thank you to our lovely hosts. Xx

Resonable priced beer and cider for portsmouth. They have live music on Friday's Saturday's and sunday afternoons.

Saw some of the old reviews and was a bit nervous but came last weekend to see a band play and it was fantastic vibe. Spoke to the new management and they told me that they are nothing like the old reviews you may read here and are looking at trying to get the pub back to what it once was, including bringing back food. I think they are very passionate and may just do it!

Got here following the reviews for food. NO FOOD SERVED. Maybe OCT. So ordered real ale. On the second pint, the bar man questioned my palate. Even he spat it out. So we walked across the road and had beer AND food.

It used to be an excellent place to meet up over drinks and live music. New management employ staff who beat up regulars. Avoid like the plague unless you fancy drinking amongst cokeheads.

I often drive down from London and meet up with my old friends at this venue. However, having spoken to a few of them they have told me that due to a recent incident whereby a member of staff violently attacked a regular customer they are no longer going there. I will follow their lead.

This once jewel in the crown has been ruined by the management team that has taken over especially by one person who goes by the name Enrico ...I witnessed him violently attack a long standing regular because he voiced his concerns about the establishment.... if I had advice about the place it would be avoided at all costs not only is he violent he is rude to customers. My advice again is avoid avoid avoid

Do not use this Pub, it used to be nice and friendly. It has changed hands and is now not a good place to have a drink. The new Landlord is very ignorant and abrupt.

What a great place to enjoy a very reasonably priced pint with free live music at the weekend. Andrea and her team give you such a warm welcome, and their service is 1st rate. Highly recommended a visit

Great venue, great prices for drinks, really nice atmosphere for a band and easy to find with parking available. We didn't try the food so I can't comment on that.

Stopped here for a bite to eat before catching a ferry which was fine. Just as expected for a hungry horse dining chain.

Stopped here for a few pre ferry bears and pool. Absolutely brilliant kind and helpful staff, for us cheap beers in clean glasses. Well worth a visit all you Le Mans people driving to Portsmouth. It’s a stone throw from ferry port and has parking.

Barman was super friendly, but I will admit the place had a bad smell throughout. I'd read reviews that it had good ales yet only had Greene King and Abbot, a few others in bottles. A pint of Abbot was £5 which was surprising to me. All in all not a terrible pub but it could be improved - that being said it felt like it had a strong local crowd so no incentive to change

Excellent welcoming, community feel pub with good ales and prices. Regular live music and plenty of room. Known as a biker's pub, but really has quite a diverse range of customers and is very friendly. Large car-park adjoining it (free at weekends) with a small parking area of it's own.

Well let's go and see it reopens at 3pm today under new management and I can tell it's going to be fantastic they have entertainment booked ect can't wait for Karaoke the Batman says he can't wait to pop in for a pint of the black stuff. Very busy as there seemed to be a couple of party's when we arrived. We just wanted somewhere to eat and be able to park our 6m campervan before boarding ferry to Santander Food was usual pub grub but ok

Visited the admiral drake before boarding the ferry to Spain on Sunday It was a warm evening so lots of people sitting outside Great atmosphere-good beer and there was a band on which really livened it all up Busy,loud music,lots of laughing smiling people-whats not to like👍

Very unfriendly customers and barman. Two neat, polite tourists looking for a meal were not made welcome. Fancy not encouraging the tourist dollar!

Lovely local family pub. Following the rules for Covid at all times, safe place to relax and have a drink. No food atm, but when they do, that's great pub food as well.

Great place went for first time, to see The Mafia Rock covers band, their blokes toilets tho smelt like the local fish monger.

Dommage que nous n'avions le temps de goûter à leur cuisine qui semblait délicieuse et nous mettais l'eau à la bouche par les bonnes odeurs qui venaient des fourneaux. On reviendra c'est sûr!

The Admiral is our favourite bar in Portsmouth. We have a deep seated love of the place. I've watched bands there, Ive played in bands there, I've eaten there, and I have got very very drunk there. And through all that, I've never been judged. If we lived I Portsmouth, this would be our local.

Lovely little pub nestled in the heart of the city and close to the port, Rudmore roundabout. Came here for a evening social, had a few drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere, the beer and the friendly staff,especially Jo, whom we shared a drink with!!! Would highly recommend the pub to all!

What a lovely evening! Well worth the visit. Barmaid Jo made us feel really welcome, was extremely polite and friendly and the beer was more-ish! Great pub, lovely decor and well worth a visit.

Staying in Portsmouth before boarding the ferry to France my husband and I thought we would walk to the nearest pub to try some English beer and pub grub as advertised. It was an awful experience no food on offer and some really unsavoury characters not even bothering to respect any distancing whatsoever. Our drinks arrived which we did not even bother to finish. If this is what the UK has to offer visitors from France - it is not worth visiting the Country again. Disgusting.

Went hear last night cracking band always worth a visit Friday or Saturday night. If your in to live music and a descent pint definitely the place to go. Always a friendly atmosphere and a good turn out.

Food spot on portions well above average for half the price of some local public houses complements to all the staff friendly atmosphere well behaved dogs are welcome what more could u ask for

Great place for live gigs in summer. Semi biker pub but never any hassle there's a good vibe there wen it gets going you can rock till ya drop.
