Wonderful evening as always at the Telegraph! The service was brilliant, the food was amazing. Me and my boyfriend both went for the steak and ale pie, we agreed it was one of the best we’d ever had!👌🏼 The staff are always so welcoming, we only live round the corner and have decided it will be our go to place for a meal out from now on!

No decent beer tonight, only a summer ale (yuk!) and lager. Very hit and miss with the beer supplies. Won't be returning unless they get it sorted.

We visited this pub for Mother’s Day, aware that it had recently changed management, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. The staff were all very polite and welcoming. Our group of eight had pre-ordered our meals a couple of days in advance, which wasn’t a big inconvenience. Everyone enjoyed the meats (lamb, beef, and pork), but the rest of the meal fell short. The vegetables were cold, and the roast potatoes were dry possibly reheated and honestly quite awful, which was a letdown since they’re usually my favorite part! The Yorkshire pudding was just okay, not terrible, but a bit chewy. There was a mix-up with our bill, where someone else’s charges were added to our tab, but the bar staff resolved it without issue, so credit to them for that. My wife ordered a large wine and was shocked to find it priced at £10! That felt a bit pricey, especially after a disappointing meal. Overall, we had a decent Mother’s Day, so thank you for that. Still, in my view the food could use some improvement.

We visited here as a group of friends on a Friday night. The first time we have visited since the pub got taken over in 2023. The bar was busy, and it had a great atmosphere, busy but cosy! The food we ordered was fabulous - chicken skewers, and some nibbles alongside - the best chicken skewers I’ve ever had to be honest! I believe it was the owner who was serving us, and I think he seemed a little stressed… perhaps it was just a busy night, but we were unable to make any special requests to the kitchen about our meals, as they didn’t have time to do it…. luckily the food was amazing and it didn’t matter on this occasion ;) The main restaurant at the back of the pub wasn’t open when we visited, but I actually loved the atmosphere of the pub. I would think that the restaurant is open during weekends perhaps. However booking a table is recommended either way! Would definitely visit again!

Nicely decorated pub - decent beer but terrible food, and not cheap. I ordered the steak and ale pie with steamed veg, mash and gravy. I don't know who the pie supplier is but they should change them immediately. Steak - what steak 🔍 ! The pie ( or should I say pastry) was plonked on top of my mash surrounded not by steamed veg but obviously left over roasted veg from Xmas e.g. parsnips and roast potatoes 🤦♂️ and the plate was swimming in gravy. Don't know why it wasn't in a gravy boat for me to add as much or as little as I wanted ? Overall the presentation, menu accuracy and food were poor. Stick to just having a drink until the chef improves

Met up with friends for our annual Christmas meal. We came a few years ago (previous managers) and it was lovely. Firstly it was odd not pre-booking. We had selected the Christmas menu, but not a Christmas cracker in sight! One of my friends chose a main which was out of stock. Then another friend ordered gluten free, there was no gluten free bread. No drinks menu/wine list. I asked if a mocktail was possible and was told it was. It took over ten minutes to receive it. Starters came out and were nice. They Started clearing the plates away before I had even finished and was told this was because the mains were ready. I hurried up… it was then about another 10 mins or so before the mains came out and we were told this was because it was very busy. (There were three other tables, two of which had already been served). The Christmas roast dinner was extremely disappointing, clearly frozen potatoes and a small (very crispy) Yorkshire pudding. Some of the Parsnips were rock hard. No pigs in blankets. Small piece of dry stuffing… Two of us decided not to have dessert, yet the bill came with 5 lots of three courses. Had to get them to change it. AND it had a 10% service charge on it. Definitely will not be rushing back. We’ve been doing our annual meet up for about 12 years and unfortunately this was by far the worse one.

Overall “not bad” but could be amazing. Food is pretty good, although the chef likes to pile roast dinners with pepper before it leaves the kitchen! So much so that I don’t think I’d return as the taste of pepper was overpowering. The restaurant always seems very dull with no atmosphere or other customers. Not great when you can hear the kitchen’s music blasting out too. Burgers/pub food seems better. However the whole place feels like they’re trying to be something they aren’t. It feels very amateur which is a shame as if they got their act together it could be a decent place.

We had a fantastic meal here. We had baeo buns and pork belly bites to start then had a 4 rack of lamb each for main with our choice of rice, chips , salad or vegetables (you can choose 2 each) and it was honestly the best lamb I've probably tasted....cooked to perfection juicy and tender! Absolutley top notch!

Had a lovely experience here today (26/5/25) for my birthday lunch. The staff were very attentive and friendly and a super quick service on a bank holiday. I had the shawarma flat bread and I think it was one of the best lunches I’ve ever had - absolutely gorgeous. My daughter had the giant couscous salad which was equally impressive. Food was served promptly and without fuss and our 3 dogs were made welcome in the bar area. The couple next to us had the pie and mash which looked amazing. Faultless service and impeccable food. Well done to all the staff.

Stopped today for a quick drink and let Skye stretch her paws. What a fantastic pint of Seafury my husband had. Not seen a pint keep its "head" all the way to the bottom of the pint like that for a long time.

A varied menu, short enough to think it is all cooked fresh to order, excellent service and lovely food. Bells on the table for when you are ready to order. All drinks brought to the table. A real village pub that is totally worth going to - we both really enjoyed our meals.
