We visit this cafe regularly, usually for a cake and cappuccino. It’s our favourite place to visit for refreshment. We are always very satisfied with the cake, coffee and service- the staff are lovely. This week we decided to try lunch there. We both had bruschetta - it was lovely. It looked good, with various coloured tomatoes and tasted as good as it looked. It was excellent. We would strongly recommend a visit to this little tea rooms.

We stumbled across this cafe at the weekend and we were amazed at the quality and deliciousness of the food and cakes. I had the most refreshing cup of tea I’ve ever had and the sandwiches were big and with the best quality ingredients. Very good value for money too. Will definitely be back!

This is a fabulous little café near the river, tucked away off the road so lovely and quiet with no road noises or nasty fumes. I had the most delicious soup and bread roll for lunch - spring veg and pesto - all homemade, apparently! They serve really lovely coffee, too. I'd highly recommend this dog-friendly gem in the Cotswolds.

This is a great little cafe in the perfect spot near the river, just right to put the spring back into your step after a stroll (or pedalo ride in a giant pink flamingo, which you can hire next door!). They looked after our group of 10 of us in their stride, serving excellent salads, sandwiches, milkshakes and stickies, and much else besides (I'd never seen ice cream for dogs before coming here!). The utterly charming owners very kindly posted on a water bottle that my daughter left behind -- above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you, Tea Chest! Lovely people and a first-rate cafe!

We had been walking along the river during lockdown 2 and turned off at Lechlade to find a coffee. Right there was The Tea Chest and it was the best coffee I have ever had out! We were able to take it down to the river front and enjoy the scenery whilst drinking our coffee. So glad this cafe was open for takeaways. Sure we will be back hopefully in more favourable circumstances.

On our way home from Weymouth but SatNav had sent across country due to A34 closure because of flooding. Looking for somewhere to stop when we saw the pub. Pulled into The Riverside car park when we spotted the Tea Chest cafe and decided to go there instead. Place is lovely and clean with farmhouse tables and chairs, as well as comfy sofas. Nice selection on the menu and not overpriced. We chose a cheddar and chutney sandwich which came with a spiced tomato chutney - very tasty. Service was good. Due to Covid-19 they are only taking card payments. Can't fault the place. Welcome watering hole on a journey that was already taking longer that it would normally because of the weather.

Popped in as was needing a cup of tea with my family and my daughter has a thing about teapots. Bit of a queue and the lady was working on her own and seemed quite stressed. Two people in front of us. She explained there would be a wait which we didn’t mind. Went to find a table and at the end of the cafe was a lovely area with cosy settees and chairs next to a wood burner. We were going to sit there but it was filthy. The settee arms and cushions seriously could have down with a really good clean and the armchair had a blanket covering it and underneath was awful. We sat next to this on a wooden table with wooden chairs. This was sticky and the chair legs had what looked like dried mud all over them. There was a play area with a large connect 4 game on the floor. Again this was filthy and I would let my girls touch it. The tea arrived after about 20 minutes which was a long time to wait to be fair but the lady was lovely and she looked like she was having a bad day. The tea pots were adorable and the tea was made with proper tea leaves which is very rare these days. The hot chocolate was fab, my daughter loved it. The only thing I would say is to next time wash the spoons a little better as two of the four has tea ring stains on them. Not the cleanest but tea was nice. I’m not sure I would have eaten there to be fair looking at the rest of the place. I would have worried about the food prep area especially as one family member has kidney failure and at risk.

We stopped here for a cup of tea on a visit to Lechlade. The Tea Chest is a lovely place with spacious seating inside, and outside seating by the river. There was a lovely display of homemade cakes and biscuits, the place is clean and the staff really friendly and helpful. If you call in here for a coffee, the price of the nearby Pay and Display car park is subtracted from your bill, if you are parked there. We enjoyed sitting comfortably for excellent coffees. There was a small selection of browsable books, and a few cook books on sale too. Our visit here was exceptionally enjoyable, it wasn't busy, and the coffee came promptly. According to a notice, cakes and pastries can be ordered from here, and baked specially for home consumption, a nice feature for local residents, or people staying in the nearby self catering flats. Would love to return another holiday!

We live in Lechlade ( 4 months) and finally got to pop in here which is next to the Riverside Pub/Hotel on the Thames. Cannot quite see the Thames but only yards away. Service was friendly and we wanted coffee/tea plus cake or in my case crumpets. We ate outside which was pleasant, cake/crumpets good and overall I would envisage nice place to eat lunch or whatever else. Will have to pay a small fee to park. My daughter does cycling in a group so will suggest they give this a try and we would happily return. If you require a beer/wine that is just 20 yards away at the Riverside and you can sit outside right next to the Thames!

This time I had a delicious Roasted Vegetable and Mozzarella Toasty and a very, very, good cappucino. Service was polite and prompt, the food well prepared and I have already mentioned the coffee. The decor is charming and there is plenty of room at tables if you wish to eat but there is also a delightful area with big deep sofas and an expansive coffee table. Outside there is a spacious seating area where you can watch the boaters, or hire one yourself, and watch the waterfowl. Splendid on a summers day. We took a party of 35 (by arrangement) to tea here this afternoon. We arrived to find a full afternoon tea all beautifully set out on the tables - scones with jam and cream, brownies, flapjacks, lemon drizzle cake. All looked marvellous and it was. Coffee and tea was dispensed efficiently and charmingly with many of us having two or three cups. The lovely young lady who runs it then suggested that we take home all the cakes we hadn't managed to eat and provided boxes for the purpose. Although the main purpose of our day out was to visit Kelmscott manor and we had travelled some distance from Devon, the talk on the way home was mostly about the wonderful place we had afternoon tea!!! On our way through Lechlade we wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast. The chef at the local pub was ill so we decided to try the Tea Chest. It was a lucky find. It's a small place near the river with a few tables inside and a few outside if it's warm enough. The inside is in a sort of interesting rustic style which perfectly complements the building and its location. They don't serve a cooked breakfast but I had crumpets and butter, my husband toast and marmite and marmalade, not all together of course, although I wouldn't put it past him. Tea was good as was service. A welcome break for us and if we were in the area again we'd probably pop in again.

Menu was the usual cafe fare, tasted good and was accompanied by great coffee and hot chocolate (with rather good home-made marshmallows) Local produce available to buy, books, kids toys, sofa seating area - all good. As soon as the very small coffee was served (£2.50 and no option for a larger one) she was back on the phone. I wondered about having a cake but there was virtually no selection - maybe they hadn't arrived at that time. From 11 the cafe started filling up with families and over-excited children, so we left. Disappointing as we had intended to stay for an early lunch but by then it was too noisy and we lost interest. Lovely setting though near the river and the outside seating would be good on a warm day.

Visited twice today during the very very busy Lechlade Duck Race. There only appeared to be 3 staff on duty but on both occasions, although visibly under pressure and rushed off their feet, the service was brilliant. They managed to keep on top of everything and were really friendly and polite. We didn't eat anything, just had drinks and ice creams but the food I saw being served looked lovely. Will definitely look forward to going back when a tad less busy so we can have some food and enjoy the view.X

This is a lovely little tea room by the river, off the main road and most importantly, away from the lorries! There's plenty of outside and inside seating, and the tea and coffee were excellent indeed - it would be hard to find better. A refreshment stop worth stopping for.

I visited the Tea Chest with my friend the other day, as soon as we walked in the service was good and prices were reasonable too! We ordered our tea and brownies which were brought straight over to our table. You could tell the loose tea was of very good quality and came in the most adorable cups and saucers! The little tea room was perfect for anyone of any age, and very, very clean! The Tea Chest is definitely the place to go in Lechlade. Luckily we managed to escape another tea shop down the road which was incredibly unhygienic and possibly the worst service I have had in my life.Thank god for The Tea Chest, would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for the lovely afternoon!

Parked next to the river in Lechlade to walk along and visit the Christmas shop. On the way back to the car we saw that dogs were welcome in The Tea Chest so decided to go in, the weather was awful and we were freezing cold. The cafe was light and airy, with plenty of space between tables, and a very welcome wood burner at one end. Ordered hot chocolate and my (fussy) hubby said it was the best that he had ever had! Praise indeed! The service was superb, and the prices were very reasonable so shall certainly be going again, especially as the dog is welcome.

Stopped here for lunch during a visit to Lechlade on Thames. The Tea Chest is located right by the river. It was very cosy inside with a log burner. Had a tuna melt sandwich and mum had ham and cheese. It was the best tuna melt I've ever had. So gooey and cheesy. The hot drinks were nice too. Well worth a visit for lunch if your are in the area.

Excellent cappucino and toasties. There's plenty of seating, both at tables and in comfy chairs and newspapers to read if you so choose. Didn't try the cakes so I'll have to go back again! Also helpful that there's a car park on the doorstep and close to the Thames path for a walk.

It is a delight to have this cafe on our doorstep & particularly popular with us as we can take our dog in with us. A good meeting place with friends for excellent coffee & a limited choice of cakes. Excellent toasties. Could benefit from more staff at times but take the time to enjoy this is not about fast food.

I had lunch here. The coffee was excellent and the toastie the best I've ever had. Try the chocolate cake. Scrumptious! Don't be put off by the slow service. All the food is freshly prepared in rotation. Sit back and enjoy.

Not the cheapest tea room we have ever been to but you do get your tea in a china tea cup and the tea was very nice. Ideally located next to the river so a good place to stop after a stroll along the river bank.

Stopped for breakfast. Nice location and friendly staff. Food bit limited for breakfast but very good value. The pot of earl grey tea I had was one of the best I've had recently and would have ordered another if time had permitted.

What a glorious spot, with a lovely sun terrace overlooking the river in Lechlade. So pretty. We came here to relax after a busy morning of sightseeing in Gloucestershire. The Tea Chest is charming and so welcoming, and in such a lovely position. The two girls serving us were friendly and helpful, recommending several pubs in the area for us to potentially visit for supper that evening. Although the selection of sandwiches was somewhat limited, they were delicious and we ended up staying for a lot longer than we had planned. We then nibbled on delicious brownies and freshly made cakes before reluctantly heading off - well, who would want to leave such a glorious spot. They even sell seeds so you can feed the swans!! That definitely pleased our toddler!!

Food is decently priced but the jacket spud was served lukewarm and the sausages seem like the cheapest they could get. My partner said they reminded him of college cafe sausages.

Clearly wanted to shut early so left door open on freezing cold day to bring in tables/chairs from outside. Asked them to close it but refused to do so until they’d finished. Won’t be returning.

Lovely pub in the heart of Haydon Wick. Excellent home cooked food, nice menu which changes summer and winter. Portion size very good. Sunday lunch excellent. Booking recommended to avoid disappointment.

Booked a table for 2, but changed this various times as the birthday celebrations grew. This was no problem for the landlord & landlady. Service was great and the food was delicious. 2 of us stayed the night. Rooms clean and super-king size bed comfortable. Very enjoyable experience and would definitely go back. Felt very welcome. 5 *****

What a beautiful breakfast - one of the best we’ve ever had… lovely little cafe opposite the brewery. Be careful about parking ask which spots you can use.
