We visited the Plough with friends for a long overdue catch-up. We had a fair selection between us, the Pie, Fish and chips, Scampi and chips and goats cheese tart. I think we all enjoyed our choices and they were filling as none of us could squeeze in a pudding. The cost was very reasonable and service was good in a pleasant location.

A good pub, excellent real ale, I have been visiting this place for over 60 years. Nowadays they do food & it can be good but it all depends on the waiting staff, our last 2 visits on Monday evenings were nowhere near the usual standard. Their minds seem elsewhere.

Great pub for food and drinks. The service from the staff was five star and amazing atmosphere. Had great time at family dinner and drinks.

We went for dinner, thinking we would have plenty of time. Unfortunately my Mom got a call to come to the Hospice, as quick as she can. She asked if the food was ready, to which she got….nearly…..she explained the situation, enter the rude manager!! Takes payment and doesn’t even offer to pack it up!! Disgusting, money grabbers!!! Do Not Support this establishment!! I know when we ordered, we thought we had plenty of time. This changed!! The attitude and absolute absence of empathy……DISGUSTING!!!! Go and support somewhere else!

Had a lovely meal there today. Fish pie and seasonal veg. Bother we’re lovely. The veg was perfectly cooked and the fish pie very tasty. If anything there was too much pie! Would recommend

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food

Would like to specifically thank Lily for helping to accommodate us at such short notice due to being let down by a different pub. We phoned very last minute on a very busy Saturday evening and Lily was so accommodating getting us a table. She was great with our 3 year old son too. Food was great and all staff were friendly and helpful.

Food was excellent & a good price. Coffee was really good & half the price of other well known outlets! Service was really good. Information about allergy & which items on menu to avoid was thorough. Food arrived hot & well presented. Only seemed to be 2 people serving but they were practically running to get Food on the table promptly. We had mains & desserts on a Saturday lunch time. Would highly recommend.

Lovely Sunday roast. No complaints at all. This was a Turkey roast. Very well presented. Tasted fantastic! Also had a side of cauliflower cheese which I forgot to take a photo of. But rest assured you will love the pub. Clean toilets too!

Not been to this pub for years but tried again today. Place was busy on a Monday lunchtime, which is a good sign. Food was delicious, really home made! Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful Sunday Lunch, real home cooking. Lots of vegetables and beautifully cooked meat. The team were friendly and attentive too.

We were absolutely delighted with our family meal at The Plough Inn Wanborough last week. They were friendly and helpful when booking, the food was excellent and the service was spot on. There was an extensive choice of great pub favourites and everything was home cooked. Having eaten at the other pubs in Wanborough / Liddington this is by far the best and it we will definitely be back.

A lovely warm pub, serving good food and ale. We were accommodated despite being very busy and although we were told to expect a considerable wait for food, it arrived at the table without any undue delay.

This was the fourth time we have used this pub, as we travel from Gloucester, and meet friends there from Hampshire. We have always found the food to be good, and good value, and we have recommended it to people we know around Swindon. This visit, however, was slightly marred. The staff seemed to be under intense pressure, and this certainly affected some of their attitudes. Firstly, when we questioned the taste of a lemonade, the chap from the bar, who I think may be the landlord, came stomping over to the table, carrying a bottle of Schweppes and clearly implied that my other half must be in the wrong. Nice. A little later we ordered a couple of drinks, and after 15 minutes when they hadn't arrived, I asked after them, and a different waiter said "well we are very busy". Now, I know it's not the Ritz, but we still spent well in excess of a hundred pounds and a bit of politeness doesn't go amiss. A couple of the waitresses were clearly feeling the stress, though I have to say, they were still exceptionally polite. In conclusion, I feel the poor attitude of the landlord, may just be rubbing off on a couple of his staff. Shame really, because the food was good, and the pub itself is in a great location and is excellent value for money.

Beautiful thatch warm friendly country pub. Food was amazing, ambience relaxing no rushing had a delicious meal then played cards. Very relaxing enjoyable evening.

We visited this lovely little pub for sunday lunch, it was perfect - the food was cooked to perfection and super tasty. The tables are well spaced out so whilst it was busy we did not feel crowded in and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Took my Mum here for lunch on prior to going to another local pub (for music), the service was friendly and quick and the Beef roast lunch was delicious. We are going to book again soon to try the evening menu.

I have never given 5☆ across the board before, but worth every one. Even the Gents was clean and smelt pleasant.

I'm a local drinker at this pub and very occasionally will bring friends for a meal. We had such a meal two weeks ago. Nice table, sensible prices and very well cooked and floavoursome food. Staff are friendly and efficient. Probably the best kept Wadworths 6X in the area. Can find no fault with it and will return. Many thanks to all!

This is how pubs should be. Home cooked food of good quality. Menu along with specials gave our group a nice selection of starters and mains. Reasonable selection of wines and beers. Service was fast and although busy checked that we were happy on each course. I had liver and bacon in a rich gravy with mash. Very tasty and good size portion. Didn't go for the desserts as we were all too full. Prices are fair and we will definitely return.

Popped in briefly at lunchtime today and spent less than £10 on 2 coffees and 2 bags of nuts. However, we were still treated as if we'd spent 10x that amount. From previous experience, the Plough serves fantastic food, keeps good real ale, and always has a friendly atmosphere. So fortunate to live in the village with such a great pub!

Lovely local village pub. Spacious, well decorated and welcoming. Good selection of beer and lunchtime food although I chose calamari and it was a little bit chewy. Not enough to complain about and it was clear the restaurant was getting busy. Good customer service though.

Used to frequent this pub many many moons ago, and always loved it’s old worldly charm. Came back with my wife and 2 other couples. Food was gorgeous, tasty and piping hot, and a nice selection of beers ciders etc. settled for their Bombardier ale which was bang on. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, fantastic service from the staff, and reasonably priced as well. Will definitely be back again 👍

Went for lunch on Thursday afternoon. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The lemon cheesecake dessert was fabulous 👌

Lovely Sunday pub lunch, friendly and helpful staff, really enjoyable. The roasts were absolutely delicious and generous. The only reason I haven't given 5 is the veggie options aren't up to the same standard as everything else. Nut roast is no good for someone with a nut allergy, leaving only one option on the whole menu. But despite that, I'd definitely still go there again.

Warm and welcoming pub. First time visited and very impressed. Drinks were reasonably priced. Didn't eat on this occasion but had a look at the plates going past and they looked very wholesome. Would definitely visit again.

Sixteen of us had Sunday lunch at The Plough to celebrate the birthday of my husband who died a few months ago. Steve and his staff were very kind, helpful & attentive. The food was delicious, and is probably the best Sunday roast in the area & is not expensive.

We came for a family roast. Upon our arrival, the waitress was extremely unwelcoming, the food was Luke warm, undercooked veg, the waitress needs some extensive training on people skills because we felt so uncomfortable. She insinuated we stole condiment’s, stood very close to us and felt as if it was a chore to serve us. We split our bill between 3 people, the waitress seemed annoyed with this and the last person to pay said ‘I’ll pay the remainder’ and she had said ‘can you add it up’ and said she’ll come back later and just walked off. Also when taking our orders she never directly spoke to us, she just stared until we made eye contact with her. After finishing our meals we asked what the cheesecake and crumble of the day was, she had said the kitchen was closed so couldn’t have the crumble. I was never told that the kitchen was closed, If we had booked a table which we did, we should have been made aware of this. Very uncomfortable experience and will not be returning. I never leave reviews but feel this is absolute necessary and would normally send food back if it was cold but the waitress was not someone of a welcoming nature.

Excellent meal celebrating a 90th and 70th birthdays

Amazing place to eat. Stopped for a bite at a locals recommendation. Cod and chips where fantastic best I have had in ages fair play. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only thing to watch out for is the ceiling if your above 6ft 😂. Will be back if in the area for sure.

Great Sunday lunch was busy but fast service and great staff...

I have been here several times - each time the food has been absolutely 10/10 delicious (the chefs know what they’re doing!!), the service super friendly, efficient, attentive and the atmosphere relaxed. The pub itself is beautiful inside and outside. I live outside of Wanborough but will happily travel in for the roast dinner which is arguably the BEST roast I’ve had in any pub I’ve been to. If you’re looking for a pub that ticks the box in every way, come here!

Friendly, welcoming and all round proper pub. Has good food at sensible prices. Very Good ales. 12 of us and a small child recently visited the Plough Inn for a Sunday Lunch. It was a cracking experience all round; friendly and attentive staff, great food as always and a very welcoming environment. Thank you for putting up with us. But we shall return.

An excellent Sunday (and my birthday!) lunch

Our first visit in 2023 to one of our favourite pubs. However the food was not of the normal high standard and was quite bland in taste with underwhelming proportions. The chips are very nice but £4 a bowl they are expensive.

All is good at the plough inn . Cosy country inn with friendly welcoming staff. Been coming back for years and always have a good meal Nice choice of beers , we had wadworths 6x Good home cooked food fairly priced , I had panko breaded chicken to start followed by beef bourguignon and Sarah had calamari and chicken supreme . No room for pudding though!! A good pub for having a few pints or a meal , what could be better

Delicious food, amazing service, quiet, relaxed atmosphere, cheap and we’re very good and helpful with allowing dogs. 5/5 will definitely be returning in the future

Fantastic real ales and great atmosphere

Called in with a friend after walking The White Horse at Uffington. With all the wonderful food going past as it was busy, wish now we had stayed for meal. The last time I was here was for a Wake, 10 years ago, but was welcomed by the owners and enjoyed our drink, just planning to come back again soon.

Lovely village pub, dog friendly, very friendly and clean. Our food was freshly made and delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of parking, we had a wheelchair chair and there was one very small step but easy to get over.

We went away for Christmas and decided to try the Plough Inn and so glad we did what a lovely pub the food was AMAZING the locals made us feel so welcome it was like we’d been there loads before. It was a great atmosphere from the minute we walked through the door. We highly recommend visiting if your in the area, Steve and Kevin are great blokes they sure know how to run a happy pub. We wish they’d run a pub in our area. It’s a great interior and just has a great vibe. Couldn’t fault it in anyway definitely 5star plus. We will definitely be going back 🫶🏼

We were away for Christmas and decided to try the Plough Inn and we are so glad we did because what a pub, the atmosphere was just great as soon as we walked in all the locals smiled said hello we were comfortable straight away. The food was amazing service great. We highly recommend if your in the area then definitely go and have a meal or even just a drink as you won’t be disappointed. The guys Steve and Kevin sure know how to run a pub and just talking to the locals they go because of them, I just wish they’d come and run a pub in our area. Made an easy phone reservation. Website gives full details. Food came in very sensible time and was well presented and of stolen taste. Friendly at table service with drinks brought too. Visit this sensibly priced place-to-go.

Tasty beer battered fish and chips. The batter was nice and crispy. I did not enjoy the lightly salted mushy peas. I much prefer normal green peas. The pub was very cosy and staff were extremely friendly and service was very prompt.

Had never been to pub before and didn't even realise this little gem was just a couple of miles from me. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived and shown to table, drinks order taken quickly and enough time given to view the menu....

Dessert was scrumptious! Toffee apple crumble- real type of crumble I might add. Not the pale, tasteless oaty stuff, too many places now serve. Enough custard too, which is a must for my partner! Lovely coffee with complimentary Biscoff and chocolate. All in all a tasty delightful lunch. In the words of Arnie...I'll be back!! Just hope I get a table again as was full today and I can see why.

Booked a table on a Tuesday night to celebrate my wife's birthday. Wow what can I say. Steaks cooked to perfection. The best homemade onion rings ever!!!!. Then came the desert. You often see on the menu 'homemade'. But these were truly homemade. We tried...

Lovely meal pies were beautiful, I had steak and asked for it well done, it was but it was dry as a board and for an 8 oz looked more like a flash fry steak for the price disappointed. Saying that side dishes/plates were hot. Why did I not complain about the steak? We were on a birthday meal with 7 others, not the time or occasion.

Good food and service although had a problem with my fish and chip lunch they did put it right as soon as I bought it to there attention😁

Very friendly, locals as well as staff. Really good beer, food was very good, slight muddle with one child's meal although offered immediately to change it we were happy to leave as it was but they still took children's drinks off bill. Highly recommend for family mid week dinner.

There’s just the 2 of us so a traditional Sunday Lunch at home isn’t really viable. So the Plough is a good place to eat . Pleasant surroundings, friendly staff but most importantly good simple food.

Fresh and tasty food which we had to wait 25-30 mins for but it was worth it, as it tasted amazing and also good sized portions! The pie was piping hot and was cooked perfectly! The pricing wasn’t too bad but you get what you pay for! Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff! And lovely to know that dogs are welcome too! We’ll definitely be revisiting again! 😊

Visited on hot August Sunday for late lunch we wanted a ploughman's and phoned to check it was on the menu. We received a warm welcome & ordered our meals, before taking our drinks, (Tribute & elderflower) outside to a table in the shade. After a short wait the ploughman's arrived, and was enjoyed by both of us.
