Cool pub,, very well run, friendly staff. They are making it into a live music venue. A large stage area has been erected outside with a quality PA.

Compliments to the chef, whose name I believe is Bob. This cafe is such a beautiful place and I will most definitely be returning. The food was impeccable. The service was very quick and the staff in the pub were all really well mannered and hospitable. The view across the river onto the Mersey was such a wonderful part of our day and really made this day even more amazing.

Took mum yesterday 9th Dec 2022 for lunch at The Eastham Ferry but it was closed. Rather than drive somewhere else, we decided to try The Tap. We sat by a roaring log fire and ordered from the menu. It wasn’t a large choice but perfectly adequate for lunchtime. Mum had a ham toastie and my friend and I had fish, chips and mushy peas- very reasonably priced at £6.50. Didn’t think to ask the name of the chef but he served up a beautiful meal that was the best I’ve tasted in a long time. The fish was large and tasty and the chips were nicer than chippy chips and cooked to perfection. I would recommend this pub for lunch over a lot of more expensive places and we’ll certainly go again in the near future. The atmosphere was great- staff and fellow patrons were all very friendly. Obviously a go to place for nearby residents and the dog walkers (yes it’s dog-friendly and we met some lovely dogs). Can’t recommend it highly enough.

This is my second time coming here ever, and I can't comment on any food at all, unfortunately - my family and I have only ever come to this place to have drinks. Overall, I think it is a very pleasant pub: the staff are friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced, the pub looks out to the other side of the river, the exterior of the place is quite large and good to eat at too! The only gripe I have against the pub is that the interior isn't that pleasant: it is quite old and tired and there is not much seating in the building whatsoever. I will at some point order food from here in the future but will eat it outside on a dry day only. Altogether I strongly advise you to come here at some point when you are in the area!

The Tap and the location are both great if you go by bike or car. Ignore the bad reviews you will love the Tap its location and the food. It does get very busy as The Tap and the location are very popular with all ages so be prepared sometimes to wait. It is not a fast food cafe and the staff have to cover a large area serving. People can be stupid not looking out for their meals when the staff are shouting the order number. I go at least once a month, friendly people and staff.

Had my first day off from work since December and after a great time at west Kirby my partner and I called to our local of 25 years. We were told it was table service so sat outside and waited and waited and after 30 minutes and two attempts to wave at the waiter who was wearing a mask outdoors, still did not somehow see us. I then went to the door of the pub and after telling the staff make with the ginger beard was again told someone would be over to serve. No apology given. They continued to serve others that arrived so we left. Won’t be visiting again with or without our biker friends.

I have been going to this pub for almost 30 years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. The people who regularly visit this place are pretty much like minded and are a jovial easy going bunch of people. The attached cafe is another story, if they have more than 1 order on the go at a time they seem to go into meltdown snd faff about like they can't cope. I gave up ordering food from here a couple of years ago after they first opened and looking at others reviews and hearing other peoples complaints at the tap I only order food at the cafe takeaway over the road. As for social distancing, track and trace etc, an earlier whinge from a reviewer called josh who feels he now has to report this issue to the authorities, a message to josh, "go somewhere else, you're not the type of person who would enjoy a drink at a normal pub with normal people". Sheeple are more your type. The Tap! keep it up.

Have been for a drink to the tap today I have to say we were not very happy. We noticed that there was no social distancing the tables were not cleaned or disinfected nor were there any track and trace procedures in place. There was no way of tracing customers if anyone had tested positive for COVID-19. Come on guys you need to take this seriously you have a duty to protect your staff and customers. This information will also be passed on to the revalant authorities.

Came back against my better judgement and only because my mates wanted to. Glad I did and it's better. Marquee has been moved onto the grass and the fire pit has gone. Food was excellent, as always, as were the staff. Things I didn't like. Band turned up and turfed people out of their seats so they could set up in that spot. Plain rude. If you know a band is going to be set up there, you cordon it off or put a notice on the table. Lots of people left as they set up. Asked a lady by us what the score was and she said they were ok but they play the same music every week and people are bored. Stayed for some of it and it was ok but don't get why you'd keep putting a band on if your customers leave when they arrive.

Parked our bikes and got a drink. Lovely friendly different style pub. All good.We ordered 2 soup and sandwiches at 12.10. Pub and outside were quiet but a few people about. At 12-40 we asked were the food was up to and told them we had moved table. We were told we 'are next'.My wife went in at 1.05 to ask again. The lady was busy defrosting our soup which still had chunks of icy content. 55 minutes to get this far. Only wanted soup and a quick sandwich. We cancelled our order as we were not prepared to wait any longer. No food left the kitchen in the hour we were there. Complete amateurs and lack of warmth. I get the feeling the food counter is run separately to the bar. Bar side seemed great and would return but only for drinks. Others in the same position yesterday felt the same.

This has always been a great place to be. A biker pub with a great vibe and good music where all are welcome. Nothing like sitting outside with a pint and some top food, watching the boats and bikes go by. I've been working away and really looked forward getting back here. First visit was a Sunday afternoon and we found an overpriced gin bar and some sort of lounge room singer. We just laughed and took our drinks to sit on the wall on the otherside of the road. Next visit revealed an open firepit in the middle of the seating area. Not good for kids or dogs and it does make your clothes smell of smoke. Didn't notice until we went on for a meal and our mates asked if we'd been to a bonfire. Now heard that they've put a tent/marquee up so there's a limited view of the river and bikes. Interesting to see how long that will last in the winds off the river and the firepit. Biggest change was the lack of familiar faces. Used to be able to set your watch by when the regulars were in, but I didn't see them. My mates are already dragging their feet about going here and suggesting other places. I get that changes are necessary and there have been some really good ones. The cafe, the extra seating area and the burger van were all positive and added to the pub. The latest just don't work for me.

The Tap is biker-central every sunday afternoon. Long may this continue! These great folk turn up at the Tap every sunday afternoon to display & show off their bikes & trikes. As motorcycles are a fairly expensive commodity, most riders of either gender are if not already silver haired, or approaching it! My favourite bike so far has to be a WWII 1943 vintage Triumph despatch rider's bike that looked as if it had just rolled off the production line! Anyhow, back to reality What's The Tap like pubwise? Huge beer garden. They always have two well kept handpump bitters on tap. One is always Marston's Saddle Tank,(Lovely pint!),the other rotates. Foodwise? Pubgrub. Bacon/sausage batch, chips, soup etc. Consult their website for more details. The pub overlooks the locks to the Manchester Ship Canal, so depending on the tide, include shipping into your experience! (Ship AIS should keep you up to date on live traffic.) To conclude, Eastham Country Park is our local joy! It's all the woody stuff behind the pub. Best bit of the woods is the beech tree colonnade. It's like being in an open air green cathedral! Walk uphill until you see a golf course. You should be entranced.

El personal de la cocina eran obviamente luchando para arreglárselas con sólo unos pocos pedidos y ni siquiera han empezado a preparar el tocino. We sat out in the garden which was very scenic and had a nice view of the Mersey, which was nice. Our basic meals took over an hour and a half to arrive and were burnt to a crisp. The cook had no idea what she was doing and simply doesn't meet the standards of even a burger van. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day. The pub itself is nice, not too busy and the bar staff are nice. But seriously, fire the cook.

First sight the Tap can be a bit daunting as it is a bikers pub. You must believe me on this the customers are, in the main, bikers yes. However, they all seem to be dog mad and what a friendly lot. They always come for a char and to fuss the dogs when my son and I drop in there when walking our dogs in Eastham Woods. The pub offers reasonable prices and always has a small selection of real ales, which are well kept. They also do food, however, I have no experience of eating there. Landlady and staff also very friendly, giving the dogs a treat from behind the bar.Additionally, we are well endowed with dog friendly pubs in the area as the Eastham Ferry hotel now allows dogs into their very nice bar area. Then there is the Hooton Arms in Eastham village, about a mile away. Recently refurbished landlady and barstaff very friendly.

I've visited this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed it as we always take the dog before or after her walk and sit outside with some food.Today we decided to go for food before the walk as we were hungry and had the dog. Being a dog she needed to relieve herself. I am a very responsible dog owner and always clean up after my dog and obviously this time would be no exception. However whilst my dog was mid toileting a lady who I've been told is the owner came out and shouted to me that I needed to clear that and it was disgusting. I was clearly going to clear up and my poor dog can't help were she goes! You most definitely should not claim to be dog friendly if you can't even give me chance to clean up after my dog. Safe to say we didn't stay for food and won't be doing so again.

This refers to The Bear Pit Cafe only, and not The Tap (where the service was efficient and friendly). We we stopped here for a bite to eat and a drink and ordered two very simple meals and we were told it would be 15-20 mins. An hour later a woman surfaced from the kitchen, shouted our order number and told us to "come and get it". There were a lot of confused looks from other customers who also couldn't quite believe what they had heard as everyone else had had their meals brought to the table. I went up to get the food still slightly in disbelief at what had just happened. My meal has been put on a paper plate and both our meals were stone cold. I strongly sense the underlying issue here was probably a lack of waiters/waitresses (there was just 1 girl ran ragged) resulting in a lot of pressure on the cook and food sat on the side getting cold. However, there's no excuse for being rude and I wont be returning for food in the near future.

The food was great at a good price and service was friendly and pleasant. I only wish I would have known it is dog friendly as I would have taken mine for a trip out.

have been to Eastham woods loads of times but this is the first time I have ever been to the the cafe at the Tap. We had lovely, freshly made sandwiches, a bowl of chips to share and a welcome cup of tea after a walk through the woods. It was quite busy, just before lunchtime, but the service was excellent and friendly. will definately go again, only sorry not to have been before

A "proper" pub. Real ale and Dog (Newcastle Brown). Great place to finish up after walking the dogs around the woods. The staff are very welcoming (and good at remembering your drink) :)

Having grown up in the pub trade it's hard to keep a business going these days.I had breakfast at The Tap cafe after walking the dog. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. It was cafe food but it was hot, fresh and much needed after a long walk.I will definitely continue to support this pub.

Dog friendly pub which gives a dog biscuit with your drinks. One a couple of occasions one of the ladies from the kitchen has been round with sausage for the dogs so ours won't walk past the Tap (or at least that's my excuse!) their beer is well kept and changes on a regular basis. If you visit Eastham woods then take the time to visit this gem of a pub.

We haven't been up to Eastham for a long time but thought we would take advantage of the first dry day in January. After a stroll around Pretty eastham village, we had a lovely walk in the woods. The tap pub overlooks the river and is very popular with bikers. It's a friendly and quaint little place. The board outside said there was a cafe at the back of the pub so we thought we would give it a go. It's actually connected inside with the pub so any food orders are made in the cafe part. Very small inside but there was a free table for us. It seemed very popular with walkers and cyclists. The menu was varied enough for brunch. We had toasted sandwiches with chips. Very tasty and excellent value for money. The two ladies that run it are very pleasant and know what they're doing. There are plenty of outside tables in the rear garden so I imagine it would be lovely in the summer. We were overall impressed and will visit again very soon.

Great little pub, excellent atmosphere. No food available, but more of a drinking pub. We watched the rugby here and enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere and a good range of ales

Being in a nearby area and looking for lunch I suggested that we try Eastham Ferry, last visited over 40 years ago. We chose the Tap and glad we did. The bar is quite small and cosy; welcomed by 'the man' who made sure that although busy he 'would be with us in a minute' - so much better than being invisible as so often in pubs these days. Good selection of wines and beers, reasonably priced. The Cafe, the Bear Pit, is up a few steps inside the pub and provides breakfast from 10.00 a.m., light lunches - baked pots, toasties, sandwiches etc, as well as fish and chips and the sweetest gammon steak, but you do need to look at the chalk board in the cafe to see these; perhaps it would be an idea to attach a note to the menu to avoid folk, like an earlier reviewer, thinking the only fare on offer was a scone. There are, indeed, scones, but all manner of luscious desserts and cornish ices. Again, very reasonably priced.Food is prepared to order so there is a small worth-the-while wait and all provided by the most welcoming, friendly 'cookess' (apologies for not getting her name). Although eating inside, while we waited to eat we chose to sit outside in the extensive and well thought out beer garden, in glorious sunshine - you do have to go through to the cafe to realise quite how extensive the garden is and there are wonderful views of the river from here. The icing on the cake has to be the surrounding area and views - a little jewel preserved very well so you just have to have that other glass of wine to complete a totally relaxing couple of hours. Love it and will be back, even in the winter that bar has to be worth a warming visit. Finally, The Tap is a loved building and it shows. Give it a go if you're down that way.

Called in for some desert and a drink was a bit puzzled on how to order it as you get sent to the back of the pub, to what looks like a WI tea bar! And it looked like they only sold scones and the like, put me off really, so just ordered drinks, found a table but had to remove dirty glasses to sit down, tables are a bit grubby. So we just stayed for the one drink and went over the road for an ice cream,

Great pub in a super location and with lovely atmosphere. Nice beers and bottle of wine at £12:95 really good value. Pleasant staff and Thursday's always worth a look if you like a quiz. Food we have found just ok, but the down side is the smell that gets into the bar area from the kitchen. Always a bit off putting if you are just in for a drink. Nice to have a dog friendly pub and great for a stroll through the park quick pint and back home.

Been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The beer is very well kept an changes on a regular basis. They always have a treat for our dog who now refuses to walk past the pub (or at least that's what I tell my wife) On Saturday the cafe chief came out with some sausage for all the dogs in the beer garden. Lovely walks through the woods some good open spaces to throw a ball for your dog. The steak and onion barm is lovely and full of flavour.

Bin in this pub since I was 3 years old as my mum was a cleaner. Seen it go through a few land lords and lady's as I am now 41, but the pub and atmosphere has never changed. I now live in Wrexham and whenever I am on the Wirral I try my best the get there for a pint or two... In the summer all the bikers come down and I have met people from far and wide but never a bad one... Lots of history with the Tap and I hope I will have more and more good memory's :)

Very disappointed with our experience here as previously had very lively and entertaining evenings. Staff not trained and atmosphere behind the bar so tense. No music which was disappointing. Will not be returning.

Had a lovely lunch last week. Super attentive staff. Very efficient service and my BLT toasted bagel was perfect. It was a very generous plate of food and well worth the cost as you can see.
