Lovely place to spend a few hours and drink great coffee. I found this fantastic piece of art in reception. Visited again today for coffee. Still a very relaxing environment.

Took my parents in law here for lunch, they do a two course lunch for £14.95 we have been serval times before and it has always been good, unfortunately not this time. The other 3 members of the party all went for the prawn cocktail which looked very good, I went for the lamb scrumptions despite the waitress saying that these were dry in her opinion, I should have listened, this dish turned out to be two battered deep fried pieces of lamb sat on a bed of bagged lattice, awful. My Father in Law and I ordered the fish pie for our main course, when it was delivered my Father in Law who is 92 asked me why he had been given a bowl of mashed potato for his main course, needless to say it became "spot the fish pie", again awful. My Mother in law had the small part of a chicken breast coq o vin and my wife had the 6oz steak which she said wasn't bad. Given that the restaurant was not at all busy, we did not arrive until 2pm it took 1.5 hours to serve a very simple lunch I would not want to go when it was busy. Very disappointing and not to be repeated which is a shame.

RUDE AND UNHELPFUL STAFF After email confirmation from the hotel, weeks before my stay, that i could have a late check out (12.30 pm) for an important online meeting. On the day of my arrival i was informed that there was no late check out, i had to leave the room at 12pm no exceptions, i mentioned that this was previously confirmed by the reception of the hotel but the receptionist was rude, unhelpful in face of this situation and not even an apology, since this was the hotel fault . I had to go register at the local library so i could have my online meeting.

My husband and I decided to have breakfast here this morning and on our arrival I’ve ask the waitress if I could choose where to sit and she said anywhere is fine. However as soon as I sat another lady came and said I could only sit on tables where the coffee cups are set up for breakfast. I said I wanted to sit near the window with a nice view but she insisted I have to sit near another window where the coffee cups are set up! However as soon as we relocated another couple came and sat exactly where I wanted to sit and the waitress simply swapped their wine glasses with coffee cups for them. Now it was the time to order, I’ve ordered garden breakfast which is their vegan option. This breakfast comes with a plant base patty which is the main part of the breakfast however when I got my breakfast there wasn’t a patty on my plate. The person who brought my breakfast didn’t say anything so I assumed I ordered the wrong thing. However when I checked the menu a veggie patty was definitely there. I called the waitress and she said she’d check with the chef, surly enough she came back saying they’ve ran out of veggie patty. I just said why wasn’t I informed and given the chance to choose something else, she just apologised and left. I wasn’t offered a partial refund for the missing item on my breakfast and I left the restaurant hungry as the vegan sausages were so powdery, dry and inedible so I just had a mushroom a tomato and some beans and one hash brown for a breakfast that I’ve paid £13 for.

Was on a Xmas party on the 2nd of December. The food was very average, plain I would say but I could live with that. The worst thing there was a male receptionist, around 45 yo and not English. I’ve only asked him for a new card to open the room… He was extremely rude, and because of this I will definitely not visit this place again. The place can be most beautiful but if the staff is rude and bad-mannered people will not be returning. This gentleman needs a proper conversation with the manager and a lesson of a good behaviour.

Our recent stay at StaneyLands Hotel in Wilmslow, Cheshire, from November 18th -21st, 2023 was a poignant blend of English charm and compassionate hospitality as our family gathered from Texas and the Washington DC area for a memorial service for our dear mother/mother-in-law/grandmother. The hotel's serene atmosphere and thoughtful touches made a challenging time more bearable. Situated in the heart of Wilmslow, this English gem is not only conveniently close to the airport but also provides easy access to the stunning Peak District and the historic Quarry Bank Mill. The picturesque surroundings offered a soothing backdrop to our stay, allowing moments of reflection and solace. From the warm welcome by the manager to the attentive staff, the hotel's English character was evident in every detail. The breakfast options were diverse, catering to different tastes, and the staff serving us were not only professional but also genuinely friendly. It made our mornings a bit easier as we navigated through our grief. The in-room tea/coffee facilities were well-stocked, a small but thoughtful detail that made a big difference. In addition to the comfortable accommodations and welcoming ambiance, the lobby served as a perfect gathering spot for our extended family. On Sunday morning, about 10 of us enjoyed tea and biscuits, surrounded by the elegance of the hotel's English-inspired décor. StaneyLands Hotel not only provided us with a tranquil retreat during a difficult time but also introduced us to the beauty of Wilmslow, the accessibility to the airport, and the nearby attractions like the Peak District and Quarry Bank Mill. For those seeking a touch of English hospitality amidst picturesque landscapes, we highly recommend StaneyLands Hotel. Our heartfelt thanks to the entire staff for their kindness during our stay.

All I can say is that they need new real Chefs and better trained front of house staff. In 2 days they never asked us anything. The only one who cares is the house keeping lady, she is a lovely person and she should be the general manager in my opinion... And that says a lot about the place Nice reception area and restaurant is very nicely decorated but that is not enough especially when you have bad Chefs so not recommended. If they give you room 104 do not take it, it's facing the bin area and delivery point so it will be noisy and smelly

I found this hidden gem on my search with google maps when i was looking for an accomodation for my business trip in Manchester. Perfect location and absolutely lovely place, not to mention that the price range is very reasonable. My first stay EVER in any hotel, where the staff feels like a family! All have time to chat with you and have time to ask how your day was and still has time to chit chat about it. The menu has typical English dishes and some international ones with a local twist too. Selection of desserts is also good, just took me a while to realize that "pudding" = dessert. They have their own brewery as well, and the MPA and their own lager were also very good, both definitely worth having another pint of them. If one ever wants to find a hotel which is the perfect combination of the world of Miss Marple and That Perfect Local Pub of your dreams, The Stanneylands is The Perfect Choice! Vanessa and Josh went above and beyond to make sure everything was sorted.

The Stanneylands has to be the friendliest place to stay. I brought my dog with me this time and all of the staff were so kind to her. I had a 'dog room' which was a little tired but it was respectful to non-doggy guests to have a room for dogs, which was also perfectly positioned near one of the exits. The room was very large, the bed supremely comfortable and the shower a really good pressure. Dinner was absolutely delicious as was breakfast. I was asked to eat in the lovely bar area because I had a dog with me and that seemed to be a sensible thing to do. At every meal, a bowl of water was brought for my dog! How fab was that. I have stayed in plenty of hotels and also worked in the service industry and I can say this is a great hotel. We went for my in-laws 80th birthday and were treated very well from start to finish. Special mention must go to the chap working the bar and restaurant who was chatty and supplied everything for us quickly when requested even if we didn't end up using the cake boxes etc. He also sympathised with me as I was drinking soda water. The evening meal was the only weak point, good but the pie didn't live up to my expectations, I just expected it to be cheesier. Need to up thier game as a good pub does great food these days. Breakfast was very nice but ran out of fried eggs (it was my second visit to the buffet though, I had eaten a couple already). Have stayed in far more expensive hotels where the breakfast was not enough for a church mouse, put a downer on the whole experience as it is the last thing you do before you leave... Was the bill for you 1st round of drinks right? Single malibu and diet coke, pint soda water and a San Miguel, £16.85. If you want a party, perhaps go somewhere else. Will we be back? Very likely although the other half likes to try new places.

I stayed at the Stanneylands recently. Rooms were good, nice big window and the TV is decent. Plugs are a bit limited, none by the bed side table so bring an extension cord I guess. The wifi seems to stop working at night, and the cell signal is terrible here so good luck. WiFi is really slow too. I wish my review for the restaurant was a good. I’ve been here twice and every time the restaurant sucks. I don’t know why I put my self through it each time, should have just gone to spoons, better value for money. Had dinner (steak) and it was cold when it arrived. Sent it back and had an other one delivered, this time it was so raw I could still hear it mooing, worst part is they still expected me to pay full price for waiting 2 hours for a meal. Worst part, the meal the second time round was still cold. (See photos) I ordered medium rare The steak was £26 and it was terrible, small cut and hardly any onion rings. Breakfast was not amazing. The meat was definitely undercooked again (common theme) and gave me a bad stomach, the bacon was basically leather, and this was at 7:45AM.

Have visited several times and always been ok. Nothing special. Met up with friends today for convenience and greeted by sour-faced, indifferent waitress who advised that a reduced menu was on offer due to problem with gas. Accepted this limited menu. Ordered sandwiches -(misspelt on menu!) which consisted of fine slices of ham on "doorstop" bread. Thoroughly unappetising. Ate the ham filling but left the undesirable bread. Even after plates were cleared, no-one came to ask if we wanted dessert or coffee. Made to feel thoroughly unwelcome. Staff were not busy as we were the only 4 people in the restaurant. A dog was wandering about in the restaurant which must question hygiene standards. When we paid the bill, we made our dissatisfaction known to the staff, and again, this was received with indifference. Stanneylands is definitely a place to avoid unless you enjoy poor quality food served by indifferent, unwelcoming and sour-faced staff who seemed to portray that they would rather not be there.

After almost 2 years of not eating out we decided to visit the Stanneylands for Sunday lunch, we had been regular visitors 10 years ago or so and it used to be excellent. We completely understand the the Hotel Industry has struggled during the pandemic therefore wanted to support local business, but come on ! get your act together for gods sake ! An almost empty restaurant only 2 couples in, we asked to sit near the window this was declined, as we were shown to a table (sticky and wobbly) chairs with crumbs and dirty . Food- Sunday dinner , beef was absolutely awful and I don't say that lightly very very fatty and poorly presented, vegetables poor the best thing was the Yorkshire pudding. Asked for two J2O's then charged extra for a lemonade top not requested £7.20 for two, I'm guessing only 1 bottle of J2O was used ? certainly not two. We complained about the meal saying it was poor, "sorry about that" was the response . Toilets very filthy , floors both in restaurant and reception area dirty, really dirty in fact. Not value, not clean, not great service we certainly wouldn't recommend . For hospitality to survive they have to raise their game. I have 2 daughters both looking for wedding venues for 2022 and this was our reconnaissance. Sad because we really fancied here ! We left feeling cheated .

Our son booked a party of 10 on 3rd July to celebrate his fiance's 30th birthday. The meal was booked for 17:30 and coincided with a wedding in the restaurant. The food was average but the service was very slow and poor with mistakes made. Long delays before orders taken, a main meal was served before the starters...this was the error and then mains brought before tables cleared of starter dishes. On paying, we advised a staff member that the service was very poor who apologized saying it was difficult when there was also a wedding. We appreciate this fact,so perhaps bookings for a meal should not be taken when they are also catering for a wedding party. In 1976 we had our wedding reception there....it was wonderful but we now apologize to anyone in the restaurant who might have been inconvenienced then! We have contacted Stanneylands but have not received the courtesy of a reply.

So currently here for a few days for work. The location is lovely, hotel looks lovely and the staff are very welcoming. My room however doesn’t smell great (either smoke, dampness or both). Bed is not best and the room has a fixed shower head (I don’t like fixed shower heads). There is also a skid mark on the desk chair.. yep!! Ugh! Staff however are amazing. So so nice at the bar. They have conversations, ask how you are and suggest/recommend food with confidence. Absolutely everyone of them have been great. Food though. Just ok I’m afraid. Lamb shank I had last night was just ok. Fish and chips tonight and I’m afraid it was terrible. I let the staff know but they are just too nice to make any more of a fuss. They offered to change etc but I opted to go for a cheese board and some port. Very nice btw. Breakfast time is a bit strange. The give you paper vouchers for breakfast. You don’t need to do this. It’s a small hotel. Over processed I think. I’ll be back as my company uses it as a regular hotel but I wouldn’t choose myself. I feel the staff though would do even better elsewhere. Thanks

I ordered fish and chips which looked good at first. However the batter was too thick, leaving an un edible layer of uncooked batter (raw flour). I had to scrap the fish from the inside. At no point did any of the disinterested staff ask whether the food was any good. I won't go back

Very nice food, would definitely recommend to anyone. I am writing this review because this was my first time in a restaurant after becoming gluten free for medical reasons and I was pleasantly surprised. All gluten free options were marked on the menu, and there were lots of them! The staff took my need for gluten free seriously, and checked with the chef about my choices. Impressed.

Happy with the quality of the food - some of it was very good. Staff friendly but not very efficient. To be fair they did have a large wedding party in at the same time. And they did respond to our comments by making an adjustment to the bill.

Very clean restaurant, bright and airy. Comfy chairs. Plenty of choice for the evening meal. Breakfast time had everything you could want to start your day. Sunday lunch was just enjoyable with a choice of 2 roast meats and fish was available. Staff tried very hard but I think still learning.

I have fond memories of Stannylands of old, not least because it’s where we spent our wedding night 30 years ago. It always looked smart, high class and expensive, a real Cheshire institution, so we were interested to go back and sample the food for my Mothers 92nd birthday. What a shame, brewery JW Lees have given the place the standard chain pub treatment, the menu an insult to the very building itself. The food is most certainly not home cooked, the slow cooked lamb shank tough and chewy, the bought in steak pie average, accompaniments average at best. The menu is bland, a chain pub offering of standard preprepared items of moderate quality. No wonder it was nearly empty. The staff were smart and pleasant, but the experience itself a disappointment. Sadly this is not a great fit for this once quality establishment.

The restaurant needs to close down and change management or ownership. I have eaten at the Grill Room at the Stanneylands over the last 10-20 years the their flagship restaurant waa something I looked forward to but I would say that most if not all the food is frozen and reheated and they have no concept of Fine Dining. The entire establishment has been in receivership at least twice so to me it's a wonder the place is still open. They served a chicken salad with something covering it for a Pate. Good news the Breakfasts are excellent and the new refurbishments to the rooms are a huge improvement electronics can now be used from all over the rooms.

Literally the worst breakfast I have ever had. The bread wasn't toasted, it wasn't buttered, 2 overcooked poached eggs, cheap ham (that wasn't even mentioned on the menu), vinegar tasting cold hollandaise sauce that clearly wasn't homemade.....just vile! The cappucino was boiled milky coffee! Have to say our waitress was particularly lovely though!

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

Friends and I went for afternoon tea in February. Our booking was changed to an hour later due to maintenance work. Upon arrival we were the only ones having afternoon tea. Although the food, drink and service was excellent at the time there was a lack of atmosphere on the day.

Went back for first time since the refurb and was really impressed. Much more relaxed than the traditional 'fine dining' experience in the old panelled room, and a nice modern menu. Both soup starter and beef noodle salad main were excellent. All in all is was the perfect lunch with excellent service.

5 of us recently had afternoon tea for my Mother’s birthday. Luckily with the weather being fab we got the chance to sit outside which was superb. The service was a little slow to start with, but we didn't mind. The afternoon tea its self was lovely, I would have preferred more savoury and perhaps a different choice of sandwiches as we had cheese & Tomato, Beef Wrap and Egg Mayo. The cake selection was fantastic, and the scones were lovely. I would visit again, and I would highly recommend.

I love this place. It’s a warm relaxed immaculate restaurant and bar. The staff are organised, professional and helpful. Today on recommendation I tried the fish soup. I was not disappointed as it is probably the best soup I have ever had, compliments to the chef, it was amazing. Well presented and served with char toasted bread. Followed by a fabulous Eaton mess. 11 out of 10. See you soon!

We had very high expectations when we walked in & saw how lovely the restaurant looked however the service was poor & slow (this did improve when we got a new waitress who was nice & friendly). We waited 15 minutes for our drinks which to be fair they gave us free (even though we never complained). The food took a long time to come, which was just a salad & a steak pie. Probably about 30 minutes. A glass of champagne arrived which was humiliatingly small - I gargle with more mouthwash after cleaning my teeth! Tables were slow to be cleaned and the service lacked professionalism for somewhere which on first impressions offers so much more. The food was good, setting lovely but not sure we’d go back.

First time ever we've eaten out on Christmas Day. Confirming the booking was a bit chaotic and difficult to establish. However on the day, they clearly had staffing problems which must have been difficult to manage. The food was ok but nothing outstanding and appeared to be out of the fridge and into the microwave so well overpriced for the standard delivered. Would look elsewhere in the future.

Our visit started off brilliantly being greeted by a lovely blonde haired lady who seated us and took our drinks order. We were then looked after by a lovely waitress Katrina who was faultless unlike the rest of the afternoon. We both ordered a fish finger sandwich which took 25 minutes to arrive despite there only be two other tables in the restaurant, When the food finally arrived the chips were cold and soggy and the fish fingers were hard and over cooked, awful meal. Our plates were cleared away by a very miserable looking waitress who didn't ask how the meal was or offer us dessert. We didnt want to waste our time or money on dessert. Katrina was lovely and chatty and made us feel very welcome but that she was the only good thing about the afternoon, I think a few more staff need training to her standards. The place has gone down hill since the new owners and it is such a shame because it was a lovely place to visit before. I hope the standards improve.

We moved to Poynton 12 months ago and decided for the first time to try Panda Panda Chinese takeaway. It is the worst we have ever tried for Chinese food. Starters of vegetable spring rolls...very, very little vegetables inside the pastry. Very bland. The side of sweet and sour sauce was a glupy bowl of orange jam. Nothing else in the pot. No pineapple or onion. Awful. I ordered szechuan fillet steak. The steak was tough and rubbery. The sauce was another version of sweet and sour sauce, with added vegetables. We couldn't completely finish any of the food. It tasted like nothing we have ever eaten before. And we intend never to again.
