The Tap House was closed up and in disarray. Their website said they were open but they definitely were not. It didn’t look like it had been closed for some time. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Being a real ale lover and having noticed this pub on the way into Ross, I just had to visit while having a long weekend away with my wife and two dogs. I’m very glad I did because places like this are a rarity nowadays. It’s nice inside, with very friendly owners and customers, truly dog friendly, has amazing ales (and other drinks) and we also had a delicious Sunday roast. What a fantastic place. We were only visiting Ross from far away but if I lived nearby I’d be spending a lot of time in the Tap House.

We popped in to the Tap House on our first day in Ross and instantly loved the place, why because the locals and the owners were so so friendly. After Friday afternoon we decided we would pop in on the evening after our meal in the Royal and had a fab evening with two of the regulars started to gig one with a banjo and the other with a ukulele and sang so many favs from ‘she’ Electric’ to ‘Take me home country road’. Oh forgot to mention the ale ain’t to shabby either. We had to try the Sunday roast as there was a general consensus that it was very good so we did shortly before we left for home, no surprise it was lovely. Thoroughly recommend this place for its atmosphere, friendliness and fine ales.

Popped in whilst staying at local campsite. Staff, range of drinks and atmosphere was brilliant ( and a sneaky free buffet). Revisited the 2nd night to have “pie night”. My first time ever to have slow roasted lamb shank in mint gravy, with a pie crust in a pot dish - I wanted to lick the bowl clean, it was soo soo yummy!. Again, brilliant, friendly owners and regulars. A MUST visit whilst in Ross on Wye

On a break in Wye Valley, I noticed this tap house from earlier viewings around Ross on wye. I initially was en route to Ross beer festival (tho due to festival licencing laws, only so much capacity allowed in at once), I didn't want to arrive, if turned away. I settled on visiting the tap house, for a prologue. TBH, upon visiting this establishment, I never made it to the festival, there was no requirement. You have a wide selection of ales, (more than any festival), the welcome is fantastic & owners very knowledgeable, the landlady is gorgeous, she has a great pull, as I felt bad asking for a cask, which I saw her previously having difficulty turning the tap on this particular barrel. If you into your beers then I highly recommended, I will visit again, if when in the area

Happened upon this gem after the Beer and Cider Festival. We were welcomed very warmly and the drink selection was SUPERBLY competitive. The bar was busy so we were happy perching at the bar, just chatting and taking in the atmosphere. Beer and cider selection were stellar Suddenly we were graciously offered seats at a table with the owners who were very, very friendly and asked us what brought us to town. Suddenly we were offered samples of their home brewed beer which was fantastic. The banter flowed and we felt like locals. It's an experience that simply doesn't happen any more. It ended up starting as a mini bar hop and ended up as ending up at the best place in town. You're welcomed and you hate to leave. Also please say hello to Ted the Dog. He deserves so much love. The prices are super competitive and the reception is as warming as a winter soup. Please, visit this gem.

Been here twice in the last month or so (to remove any outliers) and unfortunately the experience was sub-par both times. The place has a good selection but doesn't know how to properly store or serve the beer. Cask ale is all far too warm, well above the recommended 10-12 degrees. The keg beer is incredibly over-gassed. It takes the (mute) young lad working at the bar a solid 10 minutes to manage to get a pints worth into the glass, among the excessive head, then once served the beer goes completely flat - a classic sign of a keg system that's not been configured properly. I assume things were much better back in 2019 when they won their CAMRA pub of Herefordshire award.

Amazing pub, lovely environment with great people and fantastic beer. AND FANTASTIC FOOD. There's always an array, always something new. It's dog friendly, which is great if you have a dog - but don't worry, if you don't like dogs you can get away outside or in the other room. It's only a small place, but the people who run it are fantastic and hilarious people who work very hard and will alway be willing to advise you on what to choose for the week, especially if you let them know what you usually like. They also do food - I can't wait to try the ostrich burger! They've won the CAMRA award for best pub and they deserve it... Definitely go here! I have now tried the ostrich and the elk burger! I must say, both are delicious, I was going to write a whole separate review, but Google won't let me. What I can tell you, is that my parents thoroughly enjoyed the dirty fries, so much so that they've ordered them several times. Personally, I've loved the burgers - the elk is so good that I'm struggling with myself over whether to try more or simple come back for more elk! Whatever happens, the food is great, the drinks are brilliant compared to your average pub and the people are lovely. Definitely go here.

Had the homemade lamb faggots and they were delicious. When I heard it was lamb week again couldn't wait to have one. Originally tried last September but my review didn't save. Dan's expertise in the kitchen is excellent. Going back for rack of lamb for my other half - I may have to have the faggots again.
