We visited the Herdsman on a Saturday night out with friends and on the Sunday for a roast. A real pub with a great atmosphere good beer and a stunning Sunday roast. Can’t wait to get back.

First visit for lunch with my sister we both had panini's BLT and cheese and pickle and basket of chips very friendly staff food was served quickly was tasty and very good value will definitely be back

Came to Hereford for football, found this great little place close to the ground. Friendly locals, friendly hosts, decent pint and good hearty lunch. Definitely recommend.

Had a number of full English breakfasts from the Herdsman, through Deliveroo. Food always arrives piping hot, everything cooked perfectly, and more than I can manage on some occasions. Really good food.

It a great place and family friendly.

Afraid I can only rate it on Breakfast (which is served all day). Had the Big Breakfast and was delicious, all items well cooked (especially fried eggs) and no greasy plate left at end. Would definitely recommend.

After being humiliated and made to feel like a stray dog by the arrogance of the new owner of Snooker Club (Qclub), this place let us use their function room without any questions asked. We started decorating the party hall and I took the picture of the Landlady's grandson off the wall, and she never had the slightest grumble, instead, she was very accommodating. I sincerely apologise for not asking her permission. She even said goodnight before retiring to her place upstairs, what a kind and pleasant woman. Same goes with the Landlord, what a gentle man. Thank you both for saving our Filipino Christmas Party.

Went to a party here, the function room was lovely, met the landlady, lovely lady. If I was to hold a party I would book here.

The food provided good value and the staff were very friendly. On this particular visit we ordered the steak and Cajun potatoes and salad, and were happy with the quality of food and value for money. Will probably call again to sample the legendary Sunday lunch.

If you want a decent Guinness you cannot go wrong at the herdsman, perfection

Had Sunday lunch today and it was amazing ! - Mark was helpful and attentive and Doreen brought me my large beef dinner (£7.50) super-quick. Everything was spot-on although I would have preferred a steak knife.

Collected three Sunday lunches due to lockdown.The beef dinner, and the pork dinners were superb.,and the gravy fantastic.I only had to wait a maximum of two minutes, while the dinners were brought out to me.I have paid three times the amount I paid here for far inferior food.Would highly recommend it

The food is excellent quality whether in the pub or take away you have to try it as we have never been disappointed. Sunday lunch delivered is amazing with the gravy to die for . Great pub as pubs used to be . Pepper sauce was not on the menu that day but it was made for us with our steak as a total surprise and a smile. Great place

Evening meal early October. Special offer on - steaks and wine for two - well worth it! So good we went back for breakfast a few days later. Large breakfast very well priced. COVID rules well applied - felt very safe.

Had a great take away 3 course meal which went down a treat after a long shift at work - nachos , fish n chips and vanilla cheese cake - great value for money , great portion sizes .. very tasty .Definitely recommend .

When I saw the term alehouse on the side of the pub it lured me in thinking I was up for some real ale. Unfortunately this was not to be. I only saw one pump and on asking, another customer was told it was off. That was a shame. The covid arrangements were okay though.

What a breakfast and a warm welcome Loved it

The four of us had some lovely grub here tonight , from the garlic mushrooms and Brie bites to start to the fish and chips and the super mix grill for mains plus lovely dessert to finish. All good home cooked food and all in a setting set out safety to meet the current guidelines. Definitely worth a visit.

What a place. A great welcome from the landlord followed by 2 wonderful Steaks, with wine for just £20. Pubs like this just don't exist anymore. When you are in Hereford you should try it! Ian Marshall

Have always had breakfasts here especially when hungover and needing something to help...havent popped in for a while due to Covid but came back today and still agree that it's best breakfast in hereford, always consistent quality, piping hot, quick service and not a plate full of grease. Love this pub, we come down to Hereford for shopping as we live in the middle of Wales, and I always call in whilst my family do their shopping ! I really like this good old fashion pub, for the welcome you get, anybody and everybody will talk to you, and the couple behind the bar are the most pleasant of landlords.....thank you for keeping the great traditions of a good pub alive.

Old school pub exactly how it should be. Reminds me of sitting in the corner with a glass bottle of coke and a straw (plastic not paper!) And a packet of crisps while parents chatted to friends in the local. Pleasant staff, clean and tidy. Haven't had food here but looks good.

We decided to get Sunday lunch from here and we weren't disappointed. It was fresh and delicious. We will certainly use them again in the future and will recommend them.

This truly traditional city pub and restaurant is absolutely great. The family are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious and plentiful; all home cooked. So far have only sampled the amazing breakfasts and excellent Sunday lunch. We will, to coin a phrase, definitely "be back".

We’ve been going to this pub for about 5 yrs and mostly go for lunch on a Monday. I’ve also had Sunday lunch, breakfast and also have been on a Saturday for cocktails. This is a family run pub and all the staff are amazing, helpful, welcoming and extremely friendly. The food is very good and the quality of the meat is the best I’ve had anywhere in Hereford. I’m not keen on chain pubs they can be too noisy and have no personal touch. The Herdsman is an excellent place to go if you want good food and a place to chat with friends as the pub isn’t too noisy but still has a very good atmosphere. I can’t rate the pub/staff highly enough, please don’t just take my word for it....go and try it for yourself! I’m not originally from Hereford so when my friends and family visit they also want to go to the Herdsman as they enjoy it as much as I do.

My wife and myself have been going to this pub for best part of 5 years and can really recommend the whole experience. The staff, food, atmosphere are exceptional and I would recommend this to anyone as nothing is too much trouble. There is a great selection of food, which is tip quality. if you enjoy a cocktail or 2 then Will is your man.

My friend and myself found this pub whilst shopping today. Decided to try out for lunch. We both had the rump steak with all the trimmings. Believe me it was amazing. Asked for medium rare and arrived medium rare. Difficult for some restaurants to get right. Well cooked, presented and all over great experience Give it a try

Friendly and kind, prices not too high

Some of the staff were great, others quite rude. We arranged for a sit down meal, but nothing had been prepared.

Ordered a sunday roast over the phone and collected. No complaints on food, and pleasant staff.

Our board games club has received a very warm welcome from our new venue. We meet here once sometimes twice a month and the staff are wonderful and the room is bright and spacious with plenty of tables. On our daytime events we are also able to order food and it's really good and the price is very reasonable. They also have Doom bar on tap which is also a winner :)

It is what it is, a standard old fashioned pub with no thrills!! Great British breakfast though 😉
