We went for Saturday lunch. When we arrived we was told it was a 30-45 minute wait for food the pub was empty. But a few tables sat outside with kids. We ordered something easy. Ham egg and chip. After waiting the time they said our food arrived. The chips was cold and the egg looked like it had been sat for 10 minutes. They had an inflatable assault course for kids in the garden which is a great attraction for people with kids. But I wouldn’t advise going for a meal !! 🤮

We thought we would give this a chance under new management however it is no longer a fine dining restaurant and don’t expect a refurbished bar as it now feels quite tacky with canvas prints dotted about and an old slouchy sofa that I wouldn’t have in my own home never mind a business. A shame as this could be a beautiful traditional pub. Service was quite poor - I was offered half a glass or a full glass of wine! Three people asked us if we wanted garlic bread and it actually never materialised. The food was average at best. Children’s meal was the most basic orange fishfingers and oven chips. Mains were bland. Sadly won’t return in a hurry.

Our first visit to this establishment and we were not disappointed. From the moment we entered the establishment we were greeted by a friendly bar staff member and continued throughout and the owners were the same. The establishment has lots of character with beams etc. The food was amazing, very hot and well cooked. The homemade desserts were definitely 15/10 - Baileys Bread and Butter pudding and Sticky toffee pudding. The ice cream was very good not a cheap ice cream. We have booked a table for February 3 courses £18.95 Highly recommended this establishment 👍

Not our first visit as we have stayed here before when travelling from Kent to visit relatives in nearby Pointon. Excellent Christmas meal yesterday; delicious food and ample portions. Nothing was too much trouble and I always appreciate it when the owners take the time to check you have enjoyed your meal too. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when back in the area.

Sunday lunch was excellent, great food and excellent friendly service. Shocked at the way one couple on a nearby table acted, very rude to the young lady who served them. She handled it all very professional, sometimes I'm ashamed of other dinners! Would recommend this as an excellent place to dine.

We stayed for one night, the stables have been converted into 6 B &B rooms, and our room was lovely, spacious, clean and light, toiletries, hair dryer, tea and coffee, everything you would need. I booked a table for dinner as tables have been reduced to comply with covid regulations. It is a very nice bar and restaurant, well spaced out, one way system and ample sanitizer. The food was fantastic, local suppliers, Shaun the owner is the chef, and a very good one!Sharon his wife is front of house, they were very friendly and spent time talking to us about the Inn and it's history. Due to the covid situation breakfast was a continental basket for your room, very good, plenty to eat. Thank you for your hospitality, we enjoyed our night at the Inn and hope to visit again soon.

Booked a table for 8pm 26/08/2020 as no earlier table available, no problem fine with that. Ordered 2 skillets only to be told a couple of minutes later not available. Disappointed so ordered something else. Made staff aware disappointed. Made to feel uncomfortable from then on no doubt about it. Felt completely uneasy throughout, items brought to the table, no eye contact, no pleasantries. No feeling of friendliness throughout even when paying the bill. Ruined my evening to be honest. We chose the Tally Ho Inn for a night in the countryside on our way to Lincoln. We found the room very comfortable, the hosts delightful and our dinner wonderful. The owner is also the chef of the restaurant. He claims to be just "a cook" but is certainly a good one. I had the pork belly with mashed potatoes and leeks. Delicious. One note--the current owners are retiring in the fall and the inn has been sold. We were told that the new owners are long time guests of the inn so hopefully they will continue to maintain the same high standards.

We arrived at this pub, following a five mile hike, ready for a cooling, refreshing drink. There were 8 of us, so maybe we looked intimidating. We were asked if we had made a booking, we only wanted a drink. We sat out in the beer garden and we were asked to move from our chosen table as they were expecting a party of 9. After a while we decided that we would like a couple of sausage baguettes with chips. On trying to order we were told that the chef could not cope with any more orders as he had to deal with the aforementioned party. The bad thing was we had two little ones with us who were hungry but they were not accommodating. Luckily we don’t live close, (we are on holiday here), so returning is not an option, thankfully. I cannot understand a chef who is not able to cope with more than 9 servings!!! We weren’t asking for a gourmet meal, we only wanted 2 sandwiches. We were extremely disappointed.

Driven by this place en route to various destinations, yet never managed to call in ,as return journeys were too late. Well, after visiting recently for Sunday lunch, what fools were we not to call sooner. Greeted warmly by staff at bar, called through to dining room at rear , nicely set out, bright sunny room and atmosphere. Starters, mains and desserts all delicious, nicely presented , served by two young staff , courteous and smiling. Assorted meals chosen by our party of 4, ranging from crab cakes & salad starter with hoisin sauce dip, soup of the day and mains of fish, pork loin, with seasonal veg, and desserts of panacotta and Baileys bread and butter pudding, but to name a few . Atmosphere of the building fits the history and you can travel back to times of highway men , supping ale by the fire in this traditional olde English pub, situated in rural Lincolnshire and given the National Pub and Bar awards in 2016. Consider it well worth dropping by rather than driving past.!!!!

I took an old friend of mine for lunch today and what a lovely experience it was.On arrival we were greeted in a very friendly manner by the Landlord and soon found ourselves in a comfortable dining room with a good glass of beer perusing a small but good menu. This size menu made us think things would be cooked to order and this was the case. We both chose the steak and it arrived cooked to perfection (the chef is no amateur) and we both ended up with clean plates. The deserts were very good and the coffee was up to scratch. We were shown the larger of two dining roomsp as we discussed the excellent meal with the Landlady, and it shows how much effort this couple are putting into building a very good business. They seem to have the old fashioned ethos of not ripping people of so that they will return many times, which I am sure I will.Well done I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I don't want to make a negative comment but I will. After a few visits to this pub, we went one sunny afternoon for drinks. Double checked the website for opening times (as we always do) and left. We would usually walk about 45 mins but this one time luckily we decided to drive. We ordered at the bar, it was quiet and so we confirmed that they were still open for another hour. Woman served us. We sat in beer garden. I saw the male owner glance over at us and then walked off shaking his head in dissapointment. Thought maybe it was to do with other matters... then he came over to us and said he's closing now as it's not financially worth being open for the last hour. Fair enough actually. But no appology, seemed annoyed at us, it was hot but no need to be that way especially as a business in a quiet location. So glad we didn't make the 45 minute walk there as would have only sat down 5 minutes to walk 45 minutes back again. We were only staying for one drink anyway. I often looked at the menu and thought it would be good for us to eat there one night but we have decided to not return, at least for a while anyway.

We had a Saturday evening dinner here. The menu was of a good choice. I had the duck which was cooked perfectly & my husband the steak. The only thing that was disappointing is that the duck came with new potatoes & green beans but the helping was tiny & consisted of a couple of spoonful of diced potatoes & beans. I do not have large portions & can not eat a lot but if I had known the portion was so small I would have ordered a side dish of vegetables. The Inn does not have any background music so its not very intimate for couples as everyone can hear what you are saying, we where sat near a loud table which spoilt our meal a little as we had to listen to their conversations as they drowned ours!

I am reviewing the restaurant not the B&B facilities. We have visited the TallyHo under various operators over the past 17 years. There have been ups and downs in terms of the menu, the service and the ambience over that time. We have now visited twice under the latest tenants; the menu is varied and very reasonably priced. On Friday, as it was fish night, there were three fish entrees on the menu. We had the chicken and the beef and wild mushroom lasagne. Both were very tasty. Two small issues; first the food could be hotter when it comes from the kitchen and second, we would like to see more wines offered by the glass (both red and white). Staff is very friendly and they work hard. Well worth a try if you live in the area or are visiting.

We arrived five mins early and asked to wait at bar. We waited about forty minutes and was the. Taken to side restaurant bit which was empty! We ordered a Sunday roast immediately. We waited another 30 minutes and the dining room was cold. The open fire was now an electric job. The food arrived and it was atrocious. We left most of it. The lamb was tiny portion and very fatty, the roast potatoes were deep fried and greasy, I don't know what the lump of something was but think it was stuffing and that was deep fried. The vegetables were served in a little dish and there was barely enough for one tablespoon each. The gravy was like water. It wasn't cheap either. The waitress asked if everything was OK because we'd left a lot of it and I asked about the potatoes etc and she said she'd need to ask the chef. We just paid and left. Very unhappy but didn't feel we could tell them. Very uncomfortable place. Won't go again.

This place was one of my favourite places in which to eat about 15 years ago (how time flies!) but after after a change of ownership, standards slipped and the pub closed for a while. So I was pleased to see it re-open and on a recent visit to the area, our family decided to give it another go.The pub itself is in a great position and the atmosphere in the bar was warm & welcoming - just as it should be! The menu is not too long and features plenty of game -which is as it should be in rural Lincolnshire. Our visit was one evening just before Christmas and I have a feeling we caught it on an off night - don't get me wrong the food was fine and in places very good, just not consistent. We will certainly be back as I believe there is an opportunity for excellence here and for the Tally Ho to challenge some of the other highly rated places around Sleaford - hopefully the best is yet to come!

Went for Sunday lunch and was delighted to see that the Tally Ho provided something different to the standard carvery/Sunday roast. I had the belly pork which was FANTASTIC and a creme brulee which I didn't want to share! I own a wedding & Event Catering business which makes me very fussy. .well done to the chef and we'll done to the owners...highly recommended.

Being married to a chef he is very particular as to what and where he eats, his moans about many eating places is that they do not serve enough veg or good quantities of food. The Tally Ho we waited until the initial rush has died down on its opening, we were not disappointed. Excellent hosts, lovely and warm with a fire going, well set out dining room and an overall excellent setting for an evening with family. The food was hot and the pie was to die for. Even though I am unable to eat cream it did not matter with the option to changing two portions of one thing to add for the one I could not eat. The whole place was fully of people enjoying good wholesome locally produced food. Husbands verdict - will certainly go back again. The four meals cost £68 with drinks which in todays market is good value for money. Well done Tally Ho.

Think the local clientele should review the food. Not good feed back from friends and acquaintances. Very poor value for money. I had Lincolnshire sausage and mash potato with gravy. Came as 1 sausage, creamed potato.. which I had to use a spoon to eat as it was so runny. Cost about £10 for mine and if I wanted veg(which I thought would be included at that price) it was extra. Went with a group of friends. All agreed really NOT good value. None of us have big appetites but we all had desert- still came away feeling hungry. Love the Pub and new owner's pleasant enough, just need to offer better value meals.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night, the hosts were welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable and a good size, with a shower room and exceeded our expectations. It was equipped with a kettle, TV and toiletries. The food in the evening, and at breakfast was delicious, and we would not hesitate to recommend either the restaurant or the accommodation.

Stayed here for 2 nights, very comfortable at a reasonable price. Had dinner both evenings as the food looked good. Made very welcome by the new owners who were genuinely interested in making our stay as pleasant as was possible - and succeeded. The rooms were clean and fresh and although initial impression was that the room was a bit small it never actually felt that way whilst "living in it".Breakfast (included in price) was good and filling, evening meals were substantial and tasty. Overall cost for the 2 nights accommodation, and dinner was very good value for money.Location of property is excellent, we went walking one day and cycling the next, some lovely villages and hamlets on both.

Excellent food, great service. Reasonable prices. going back to try the evening menu soon. If it's as good as the Sunday lunch menu, we've found a new local.

I was extremely impressed by the meal I had at the Tally Ho Inn last night. I was lucky enough to sample the food before the official opening on Tuesday. The menu was very well thought out and the food was simply delicious. The homemade chunky chips were to do for, my Gnocchi Primavera was so tasty and perfectly cooked and the Rose Crème Brulée was to die for! Reasonably priced food and drink with an impressive choice of wines. The landlords were very friendly and created a lovely atmosphere. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly and it was a perfect evening for sitting outside in the garden for a drink in a stunning rural setting before dinner. I can't wait to return again soon and I know that this restaurant will be a huge success.

Cannot fault the food at all. If you want good food cooked well then this is definitely the place to go. A few finer details let the place down. ..service was particularly slow but they did accommodate my dietary requirements for 2 of the courses (I had explained at the time of booking about my intolerance). For 2 of the courses, they had made allowances and knew ahead of the night what I could have. Dessert however was not considered beforehand but they did offer a reduction in price from the set menu if I couldn't eat anything they offered. There was unfortunately dirty cutlery laid on table, I had to ask for it to be changed .. We were offered bread (which was gorgeous) but had no butter knife and had to use starter knife. Fire place was lovely but it started to smoke. The smoke started bellowing out of the fireplace and was affecting the taste of the food. I usually love the smell of smoke but the amount was starting to sting our eyes. We were eventually moved to the other side of the pub but then we were really cold. We ate our desserts quickly and left. Napkins would have been useful with dessert but understand they weren't moved across when we moved tables. We have been before and the food was excellent both times but we do think a little attention to detail is required to make this an excellent place to dine.

Came here to have a celebration meal with friends using a groupon voucher, staff refused to honour voucher, when asked if manager would do anything the manager did not come to speak to us instead sending back the same member of staff to tell us they would be running a loss if they accepted the voucher ( even though I met the criteria for the voucher and they had chosen to go on groupon) so not only did I end up paying nearly £130 for a meal when it should have been under £50 plus the voucher, I now have a useless voucher so am actually £160 out of pocket for what can be described as a slightly above average meal for four! The service i received was disjointed and slow, people that arrived later than us were receiving food and having orders taken a long time before us. No doubt the manager will write a load of nonsense defending the situation below, but the reality is that they refused to honour something they signed up for, wouldn't come and speak to us in person and the staff were rude in dealing with the situation thus ruining an otherwise pleasant meal. No amount of training or whatever other nonsense the manager may suggest can change the attitude that clearly permeates down from above in an establishment that could otherwise have so much potential!

Ordered food in line with groupon deal and on presenting voucher was refused redemption of it even though the food ordered was fully in line with the terms of the voucher. Service staff didn't have their act together and took ages to take initial food order all in all an experience I would not recommend and I have concerns about the quality of the food I would have had presented if they would have allowed me to redeem a groupon voucher.

Firstly, what a lovely quaint country pub, with plenty of parking. Comfortable seating, with friendly staff and we were not rushed. We visited with friends, as a group of 4, after ordering our food, we were advised it would be about 15 mins and it was. Two friends ordered the fish and chips (1 asked for the skin to be removed, and this was dealt with, not a problem) although there were a couple of bones, on the whole they said the meal was very good. My husband ordered the ribeye steak, cooked to his liking he said it was very tasty, if we can offer some constructive criticism, perhaps serve the sauce separate and for the price we really felt that a side dish should be included (it was just steak and chips, no salad, mushrooms or onion rings etc), so this did make it a little expensive. Me...I had the pork belly, well I can honestly say, it was one of the nicest meals I have ever eaten, beautiful and I would order this again. Again, my only comment, would be: a small bowl of side vegetables would have been perfect. Sweets, were all very nice and well presented. Overall experience, very good and we would go back again, although a little on the pricey side for the steaks.

I popped in with my dog and we were made very welcome. Lovely atmosphere with local people chatting and included me, made me feel welcome. The staff were very friendly and I had a hot chocolate and I really enjoyed scrambled egg on toast. I was so looking forward to popping in again on my next visit to Sleaford but I was very sad to read a newspaper article saying it has closed for good. So sad after 101 years in the town that this had to close.

Yet another visit to this fantastic pub. The lunchtime baguettes are amazing and great value for money. The only issue I have is with the guy complaining about his steak as the George has not had steak on the menu for quite some time. My advice is to ignore that review and try the pub for yourself, it's brilliant.

As spotless as ever. The prices still haven't risen and a really nice, well cooked breakfast with tea or coffee is still only a fiver! Can't fault the place.
