For the last 2 years, this pub has constantly run out of beer and the new batch hasn't been delivered for two days or longer! The venue itself is awful! Ripped seats, drug use, shoplifters and illegal streaming devices! Perfect for the vagabonds of this world but not for me anymore.

I thought that the barmaid who was working on the sunday (Her name might have been Beth or Ben) Was very nice. I felt that she was doing a lovely job puring me pints and Double Steamboats with lemo.

The staff are quick to serve and polite and there is always a good atmosphere but the toilets are disgusting, they smell really bad and are full of mould. I went across the road to use the cinema bars toilets they are much better

I haven't been in this pub since the pandemic hit. Sadly I won't be going back again. Walked in last night after seeing the list outside of cask ales for which the place had a good reputation. It has changed inside with huge TVs all tuned to Sky Sports whilst loud music was thumping out of speakers. There was only two ales on neither of which I like. There were only two customers in the place. Such a shame.

What dreadful pub this has become, previous owners had it right and the current owners give the impression that they haven’t a clue, blatant drug taking staff not interested, beer average at best , another half decent pub ruined up by ignorant owners, avoid like the plaque.

after picking up a bit of shopping in St Helens and making our way home we decided to stop for a pint of real ale. Outside of this pub looks very nice with flowers but once you step inside it doesnt feel so good it seems to have had a bit of a refurbishment but not to a good standard. There were customers in we would sooner not associate with they were drunk loud and swearing...someone said the were CAMRA members so thought the ale must be good then We had a pint of george wrights brewery ale whcih was warm and cloudy. We mentioned it to the bar man who said it was their own real ale and that is how it should taste? We didnt like the taste or the barmans attitude to this. If you advertise real cask ales then please make them quality, Would never return

This is a lovely pub with nice staff and a great choice of real ales. Always busy on a weekend but every time I come in the place seems more in desperate need of an upholstery rework. Some of the seats are completely worn through....and the paint has chipped off the wood at the bar. Some of the tables just need scrapping and replacing too. I'm not saying a pub needs to be pristine but it seems to be really neglected. That said...it's a really nice boozer but has a growing depressive feel about it sadly.

This pub is one of the finest local pubs around st helens. Great selection of beers, whiskeys, etc. Even gluten-free options. Very cosy, old fashioned atmosphere with jukebox, pool table, sport, etc.

This pub definitely needs refurbishing. The furniture is old and tired ,the seating is worn through. There is so many tables it’s hard to squeeze between them to sit down.My first pint was so cloudy I took it back and the barman turned the pub clip round .He then gave me a replacement pint which wasn’t much better.I asked for the ceiling fan to be turned off but the barman said he didn’t know where the switch was.Would I call here again probably not. There are better run real ale houses in St. Helens.

Exterior of pub has got better, the inside hasn’t. Old sticky fixed furniture and a badly a positioned fridge blocks access to the toilets and between bars, tap room still a bit rough. Real ale is ok but not up to the standard of the other near well know real ale pubs. Miserable barmaid with short hair likes to serve people she knows first. Good point it’s on duke street which is becoming more popular as new bars keep opening up and will hopefully create a circuit.
