One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in London! Cocktails were amazing too - a fun twist to classic but makes it so much better! Lovely pub, away from Main Street, with a lovely atmosphere

Really lovely Sunday roast! Generous serving of gravy and beef with huge yorkies and tender veggies. Staff are all really friendly too. Highly recommend!

Only popped in for a few drinks last time in London but really liked the vibe.

Came for some food with some friends on a Friday night, it was amazing! There were plenty of yummy options, I was spoilt for choice (Aubergine dish was my favorite). The service was great and a fab atmosphere, we all felt so welcome. 100% we will be going back.

The atmosphere is great and the staff friendly. But the food has gone downhill (eg, bavette steak ordered medium comes out well done, lack of seasoning and flavour across many dishes)

ive never waited so long for a drink or food and apparently asking how long your food will be after an hour is rude and as the staff member told me, “you just have to wait”. The standards of service, even in a pub is sad tbh, you'd used to get told if there was over a half hour wait for food. my food came cold and raw, the potatoes are raw. Im appalled as a londoner we asked for well done so….

We hired the main room on the 2nd floor for a toddlers birthday party and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. They gave us the time to decorate the space as we pleased in advance, they had a great little sound system to connect to our music, the room itself fitted easily 30-40ppl standing which was perfect for us. Our guests really enjoyed the food that suited all dietary requirements. All-in-all a real success! Thank you so much for everything!

Nice enough pub to sit in or out of in the garden, but service incredibly slow - 45mins for our food to arrive, and when it did hardly generous (and on the verge of stingy) for the price - £26 for a maybe 200g steak, chips and I think 3 lettuce leaves and a single(!) slice of radish and one sliver of onion (of course, no dressing). Drinks also over priced, and still had the cheek to add 12.5% service. A single ladies toilet that was in a state. Will not be returning.

Cold and dark. Maybe better during the daytime and/or at the weekend. Extremely overpriced chips (£6)

Great rooftop, nice relaxed atmosphere in inside the bar during the week but definitely pick up on the weekend.

Food is pretty good but the service is TERRIBLE. Every time we come in it is beyond slow and useless. Such a pity and it really needs to get sorted.

An absolute corker of a place with friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff, a good range of drinks and fantastic food (Gurnard was on the menu and that deserved 5 stars). I didn't give the food 5 stars simply because the Serrano ham and manchego croquettes I had didn't have enough of either in them in my opinion (I worked in Madrid, so am used to the 'croquettas de Serrano being full of the meat).. The bechamel sauce could have done with being cooked out for another couple of minutes. There was the briefest hint of flour on the mid-palate. This is a mere quibble

Best pub in De Beauvoir. Two sunny terraces, lots of wood everywhere, and the patrons are always dressed in devonesque chic. I'd love to see them do a pub quiz.

arranged a mid-week party for my significant birthday and its was amazing, everything went so smoothly and the sharing platters were fantastic...high recommend! Plus Martha was a fantastic!

Llegó aquí 8: 30 pm un viernes. Queríamos comida para cuatro. Nos dijeron que un grupo grande acababa de llegar, pero podrían tomar nuestra orden en 15 minutos. Tomé una copa mientras esperaba y dimos nuestra orden en el bar. Hubo una ligera confusión con una de las comidas (¡la mía!). El gerente vino y se disculpó y lo resolvió. La comida era muy buena y el personal amable y eficiente. Me sentí muy relajado y sin prisas. La próxima vez que estemos en la zona sin duda iremos de nuevo. Agradable noche y buena comida.

The last couple of times we had food here we found it had gone downhill, from a stodgy burger to a charcuterie board offering poor variety, and thus not worth the price. Service at the bar was super friendly, our server forgot the sauces we asked for despite it being a relatively chill mid week evening. The space upstairs feels a bit less cosy now without the sofas but still pretty.

Went here for a friend's 40th. It's a welcoming pub, with a few veggie options on the menu, a decent selection of beers, and lovely staff.

El Talbot nos había recomendado para el almuerzo asado del domingo. Algo debe haber cambiado, porque chico fue una decepción, y a algún precio. Las cosas no eran buenos augurios con dos trozos de masa madre que eran rancios promedio y límite, y un plato de aceitunas ok - £ 4. 50 cada uno! El plato de carne asada se veía bien, pero el Yorkshire estaba seco como una galleta. Verduras al dente, pero la carne dura y miserable de pasar. La comida era apenas tibia, más bien como el servicio. En ningún momento nadie preguntó cómo fue el almuerzo... Y así nos fuimos, decepcionados, un poco deprimidos, para no volver nunca.

It's so lovely! The staff is amazing, it's a very chilled out place. The potato wedges were amazing. They have big outdoor space if you're a smoker.

Had a great Thursday night dinner with amazing hosts, especially Charlie. Had the pork belly and it was delicious. Would recommend

Ordenó el pescado que estaba demasiado cocido y un poco quemado. Vino encima de una mezcla empapada de papa y espinaca. No disfruté mucho - ni disfruté de los vasos y cubiertos sucios. Unas dos horas después de llegar a casa empecé a tener calambres estomacales y luego estuve enfermo toda la noche. Una experiencia verdaderamente espantosa y, por supuesto, nunca volveré. Estos tipos necesitan una limpieza adecuada y resolver su higiene. Estaba muy mal.

Been coming for years just for the roast. 2nd time now the roast has not been to its usual standards. Pork belly and Beef both different to what it used to be. The beef was bland and dry and pork belly soggy and a different cut. Also all trimmings lacked in seasoning and worst past the gravy was very watery. The only good thing that they have changed in the pub recently is additional seatings which you wont struggle to get a table.

Lovely place and staff but the roast didn’t really hit the marks, especially the beef which was flavourless and dry.

Bad roast. I’ve been coming to the talbot for years for a roast and it’s always been consistently brilliant. I went recently under what seems new management/chef and the roast was awful. It was cold, small portion, soggy pork belly (not crispy), watery gravy and undercooked veg. Nice pub though, service and atmosphere was fine.

Excellent chef, good breakfast and dinners done with style. Fully recommended if you go by car to Ripley.

Average roast with surprisingly expensive non alcoholic drinks (£4 for a pint of lime and soda? £1 more would have got me a beer…). Roast was luke warm and no one came to check on us (seated upstairs) - if they had I would’ve asked for it to have been microwaved. Pub itself wasn’t very warm with several people sat in coats and scarves. Atmosphere upstairs was completely taken over by a rowdy table screaming. Maybe downstairs on a non-Sunday roast day would be better.

not sure what happened here, it used to be a great gastropub with amazing food options. now the quality has terribly downgraded to the point it is a regular pub with not even the option to choose how cooked you want your hamburger. the staff is nice and polite but unhelpful

Staff are really welcoming and friendly, they are also very helpful if you need help with something or feel uncomfortable

Satifactory but a bit expensive they also added a service charge which I didn’t notice until I got home , I would have asked them to remove it had I seen it The food was very average, The drinks were really expensive The atmosphere was lively but a bit to loud to enjoy eating.

Nice place, on a quiet street. Very nice food and cocktails. The music was a little too loud for social conversation. Would have been nice to keep the quiet residential atmosphere inside as well.

Nice sunny spot, pity you can't sit and enjoy the sun. Really rude staff and bad atmosphere radiating off all of them. Go to the Hunter S or Rosemary Branch if you want good service from nice people.

I took my family here today who are visiting from outside of London and had an amazing meal. I'm a vegetarian and can be quite fussy - Jay who took my order at the bar was really helpful on working out what would be best for me to eat. And she was right! Both me and the carnivores in my party really enjoyed the sunday roast and the service was great from start to finish. The place also has a warm and inviting atmosphere as well as some killer cocktails - I'll definitely be back

We used to go to Talbot for years and it used to be a cool place with good roast. As always we walked in today and we had a very terrible experience with one of the waitress. She was very rude, if this is the attitude, better to chose another career. If you look for a roast and a good behavior you wanna probably go somewhere else instead.

Very lovely pub with an amazing service and great food. The vegan options were really good. We came for ours dad’s birthday and had a great time. Definitely worth a visit :)

Visited The Talbot for their Sunday roast. I ordered the pork belly and a friend ordered the beef. Perfect portions, great value for cost, and absolutely delicious gravy!

Brilliant service you definitely need to book a table on a Sunday as it was busy but the staff still managed to seat us table for 2 food was great !

Seating outside is perfect breeze when summer, there is also upstairs outdoor. Drinks are quite expensive, Gin tonic £7.5. Wine start from £6 and not very good quality.

The prices here are shocking, so we were expecting something superb. Unfortunately, it is in no way that. The wait staff and bartenders all seemed grumpy. Maybe they all had a rough night, but the service was not great. And the food was very hit or miss. The tomato salad was lovely, but the chicken burger was dry and tasteless and the chips were from Iceland. Others at our table said the steak was awful. Maybe this place was great in 2020, but our seems to have since gone downhill under new ownership. You’ll find better value elsewhere.

Warm, friendly, attentive service.

No gluten free beers at all - not even in bottles - which was disappointing (and very unusual in and outside of London). But it is a beautiful pub and in a beautiful part of town.

Awful. We attended the pub as it seemed rather inviting. However the amount of rules inside is overbearing. You was not aloud to stand ok the balcony, also not able to speak to the table across as they would shut the balcony..but then reopened to different customers. We could not bring 4 donuts in a sealed package for a birthday party. The only saving grace is the beautiful blond human who served us drinks with there skills. All in all would not recommend for celebration of any kind.

Rules, rules, rules. The atmosphere is overbearing with the tyrannical terms and conditions of attempting to spent time with your friends. They advertise an outside terrace, of which you cannot stand on. Dare you talk to a near by table, to run the risk of closing the terrace. To then be opened again 20 mins later. Other rules include no queuing for the toilet, no empty cups, no waiting outside, dare you hold a door open for someone out of common courtesy. Apparently the food is good but will not be returning to find out. One bar member was nice though.

Great pub, food was decent but manager was very rude throughout the night. Maybe he was having a bad day but shouldn’t be so impatient and short with customers. American bartender made up for it though!

It's local for me and it's a nice place to have a drink but the bagels are way too expensive for what it's worth. You pay nearly £10-15 for half a bagel filled with vegetables and some slices of meat.

Excellent food. We are local and eat here regularly. The new spring menu is great. Sunday lunch is also very good.

Very tasty pub roast here - lots of options on the menu, went for the pork and was not disappointed. All a similar price, just under £20. Service was not great that was the only shame, a bit rude but maybe just a one off on the day. Would definitely recommend for its food!

Love the talbot. Great pub for a casual beer but also for a Fri/Sat night. Great selection of beers. The balcony is the perfect spot for sunny summer weather!

Best Sunday roast I've done so far. The chicken and beef are really good, and the pork belly one is actually proper crispy. Definitely recommend. Very friendly people. Good selection of beer. Kids friendly (although only one high chair). Defo recommend!

One of the best Sunday Roast I have ever tried in London! In general the staff is great.

So chuffed with the beef Sunday roast! We booked in advance (as recommended by staff) because tables are filled very quickly. The beef was tender and all of the trimmings cooked to perfection, with perfect seasoning. So far the roast potatoes are the best I've had, crispy on the outside, buttery inside. The gravy was thick and flavoursome. Service was good, the staff were fast and attentive. Would highly recommend!

Nice atmosphere however burger utterly disappointing and pricey, bun wasn’t fresh, and way too hard.

Really great place for a Sunday roast - will no be my go-to in the local area. Great food at a reasonable price, good atmosphere. Staff very friendly and polite. Would recommend booking in advance as it gets really busy.

had a roast with a group of 5. everyone's meal was luke warm at best and poorly cooked.roast potatoes unroasted,over cooked cauliflower,under cooked cabbage,rock hard yorkshire pudding.unable to order dessert 'cause "the kitchen is too busy"...we only wanted ice cream? staff attitudes ranged from cheerful indifference to downright rude. on yesterdays showing i'd still be unhappy if i had paid half the price.

Great vibes but could do with some new furniture

My booking got missed although I sent an email and gave a phone call the day before. Unless they improve the booking system, I won't come back. Update after owner's reply. After arriving and being told that there was no reservation under my name I shown my phone call with the call made the day before to the local to confirm the reservation. At the point I was told: 'well you can have a table but we served the last roast 2 hours ago". I am even more baffled now. Indecent customer service and inability to assume any responsibility.

One of the best roasts I have ever had in London! The gravy is so delicious I could drink it! Daniel behind the bar is epic, Jalissa was amazing too! If you want the best roast in east London, that’s the place for you! And I made new friends ❤️

I’m suggesting a 4* purely because I don’t feel the need to downgrade a pub that I have always known to be a great find with great food - so here’s the but.. Rushed service because friends have a baby, a quiet non crying one, because the license says we can’t have him there after 8pm - we deal with that. A food item was wrong but it looked and then tasted delicious so we didn’t care. We were the only ones in the restaurant area btw, but if it’s about licensing then I get it But then to stand outside talking quietly, away from the tables so they didn’t feel they had to be sensitive about a baby, with no one around, we’re told to clear the area as there could be people that might want to walk on the path and we’d be in their way. Uuurgh. What should have been a lovely quick catch-up with lovely friends became a disappointing night with too many rules. What a shame.

Went there for a Sunday roast/brunch. We were sitting on the main terrace under the lovely summer sun and the place is also nice. Food came quickly and the Sunday roast beef option was very good even if it came a tiny bit under the right temperature. I'd suggest refurbishing the wood tables and benches because they are weathered and very beaten down.

Great buzzy pub, plenty of beers on and off tap. Loads of outdoor seating too. Cocktail list was extensive and roasts looked great.

Great pub. The balconies are lovely hidden gems which get lovely sun in the evening. Like having a friend with a big Dalston townhouse. Kirin on tap.
