Cosy pub. Service is a bit slow and the place sometimes smells of sewage which is quite unpleasant

Lovely veggie roast dinner, I avoided the mushroom gravy, not sure why places ever do a mushroom gravy as I know a few veggies that don't eat it and it just looks awful, there's nothing like a bit of veggie bisto to sort that out. Anyway food was amazing and yummy 😋

Worst experience! We booked and went with a delay for diner (only 25 minutes at 8pm30). They took 50 pounds from my bank account, because we did not show us but we were there. Of course, they did not give us any food because the kitchen was closed but 5 five minutes before they checked that, they were ok to give us food. It does not make any sense. They said they called me but they never did, I will ask my phone company to prove it. And I will call my bank too. This is my first bad comment!

Been here for Sunday roast, my personal opinion is that it's too expensive for what you get. Beef was ok, a bit fatty. Pork seemed like hospital food: white, wet and not crunchy. Potatoes were great. Veggies were served in a small pot to share with the table, a bit poor considering £28 for mains. Gluten free Sunday roast suitable for coeliacs, including gravy but excluding Yorkshire puddings.

We went for a Sunday roast based on reviews and we weren't disappointed. I used to come to this oub for drinks after work and it is also a lovely place for eating in. We had the beef and chicken roast with a starter and dessert too. For 2 courses it is 34 pounds which is reasonable. The meat came with potatoes, carrots, kale. All was very delicious and filling. The grace and sauces were excellent! We did have to wait a bit between the starter and the main (like 30 mins or so) but we enjoyed the meal. For dessert we shared the toffee pudding and this was very very tasty!! The waitress was also very nice.

The food was really tasty although it took a very long time to come and the sides were lacking in quantity. Additionally, the vegetarian roast came with no vegetarian gravy and the roast we specified as dairy free due to allergies came with a Yorkshire pudding containing dairy. The severs were friendly but they didn’t solve the issues quickly even after we mentioned them repeatedly. The setting was really nice although a bit cold.

I booked this for our party of 8 people as we had some family coming over to London to try a typical Sunday roast. I had wanted to try this place based on review articles online but sadly it was very underwhelming! The portion sizes were small, the meal was Luke warm and the vegetables came in a small plate that we have to share between 8 people. It was a rip off charging £19 for that and I wouldn’t recommend at all. Very disappointing as the photos on Google look like it’s an actual gastro pub with high quality food but it’s quite misleading, even the decor . Don’t be fooled, it’s just an average pub that you could find on any ol road.

A cute pub that starts quiet but gets busy quickly. It’s close to lots of offices of many cool companies, being in a very popular part of London, and many people come for a quick drink. Beer selection is ok, nothing amazing, but plenty on offer for a range of tastes.

Fantastic food set in a classic style pub with plenty of beer and wine options. We can for the Sunday roast and it did not disappoint! Medium rare sirloin, chicken breast cooked to perfection accompanied with the usual pile of roast goodies - Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, honey glazed carrots, savoy cabbage and a gallon of gravy. Portion sizes are certainly not huge, so do keep that in mind if you’re hungry.

Really poor initial reception but sympathy given as one staff member was left to deal when others were doing nothing behind the bar. Stood for about 5 minutes soaked from the rain and no one took charge of the arrival situation. .Standing there obviously aimless and waiting with all staff not engaging at all despite having a number clearly doing nothing. Upon speaking to FOH they explained table not ready but not offered to go to bar or stand anywhere particularly. When finally seated much of the wine list not available. Roast was good but frozen roast potato. Cold and solid on inside. Forgot mustard upon asking. Was rushed off table despite other tables being offered coffee which was never offered despite spending >£100 a head and being there less than 2 hours as they were late seating. Pretty poor service to be honest and was charged for it . £450 for 4 persons. I expect better than this guys, you knew we were coming. Generally a little embarrassing for my family visit I’m afraid and definitely feel treated differently to other customers despite obviously probably paying more.

One of the most unappealing roasts when it’s served - just a plate of beige looks like a bad school dinner (veg and gravy comes separately). Potatoes not very crispy and chicken a bit dry, the rest tasted good. Stingy portions though for the price, not enough veg for the size of our table despite asking for more and receiving an even smaller extra portion. Sticky toffee pudding really nice but again very stingy portion.

I came to this pub years ago and had a great experience even at another local pub earlier in the day someone said oh the princess is great. I don’t know if peoples acceptance of high price and low produce on a plate is now the new normality in this weird race to the bottom society. However I rarely write a review but the meal I ordered yesterday was an absolute joke. The fish dish was meant to be pollock. I was informed pollock was not available and monkfish had replaced it. Everyone’s mains come out (roasts) and I get basically got a starter sized piece of fish that to me resembled a size of a scallop. £35 for two courses and someone thinks it’s funny to serve this in the photo posted as a main dish with a side of roast potatoes? Whilst the meat eaters scoff hundreds of grams of meat and veg for the same price? I did inform the lovely waiter this was not on at all, and they cooked up another portion of fish in similar size (very generous 😂). Totally and utterly lost for words. If you don’t have your main fish option don’t bother substituting it (for knows what the size of pollock was being offered) In fact don’t bother having fish on the menu unless it’s sold as a starter at a starters price. At least you made me laugh as it was comical. Total disappointment totally unacceptable.

Had such an incredibly disappointing experience three weeks back. We were a party of four. Booked last minute for Sunday roast. A CATALOGUE of errors. Waiter forgot to put our order in the system and didn't realise until we asked whats happened to our order after 40mins. He apologised and tried to make up for it by over promising what we could complimentary before revoking a no of promised items. We all ordered roasts and we had the pleasure of sharing one tiny side dish of roasted veg between the four of us (we had three tiny potatoes, some slither of carrots and a cold Yorkshire pudding). Desserts were nice - but it took us chasing to put in our order. Two of us were not given any cutlery which again resulted in us chasing the waiter who lacked any interest in wanting to assist. Had the pleasure of having the bill put on the table without even asking for it (as well as no one asking how our meal was). A really disappointing, over priced and sour experience. Won't go back, nor would I recommend.

Our expectations were pretty high visiting Princess of Shoreditch, having followed Nikita’s career after her Masterchef win last year. I think it’s fair to say they were met, nay, exceeded with nearly every dish. We got the lunch menu which was excellent value, but once we realised how good the food was we couldn’t resist getting some of the snacks and other starters. The flavours were bold, precise and delicious, displaying a deep understanding of flavour profiles from a huge range of global cuisines. The Japanese/style octopus dish was superb but there were surprises everywhere: from the snacks (who knew blueberry and anchovy belonged on the same plate - they do!!) to the utterly insane plum desert, which was the best dessert I’ve had for years. The only thing worth changing would be the addition of some herbs or something-or-other to the onion purée in the pollack dish; but when you’re palate is getting turned up like this, even perfectly cooked pollack and umami rich onion and carrot can feel comparatively safe. Service was warm and efficient, albeit in a quiet restaurant. Can’t wait to see where this young and superbly talented chef’s career leads in the future.

Our Father's Day meal at The Princess of Shoreditch fell considerably short of expectations. Seated at a ridiculously slanted table upstairs, we found ourselves constantly adjusting glassware to prevent slippage, and the overly thin gravy pooled awkwardly on one side of the plate. Portion sizes were surprisingly small, and despite ordering four roasts, the meals were presented without any attempt at plating. The final bill of £180 for four roasts, two soft drinks, a few glasses of wine, and a measly amount of vegetables felt exorbitant. While the staff were friendly, the overall experience was underwhelming. Despite its reputation as a Shoreditch staple, we found little to commend and will not be returning

Started off with a good sign - unique yummy-wow bread (melty scones) and indulgent canapés/tasters. Highlights for me were the dreamy creamy artichoke dish, the lamb, the green beans with Stilton and caramelised onions and walnuts. Tried but couldn’t pick a fave desert, as they were all great - tart tatin with a tamarind twist so crunchy and perfect, wonderfully rich and aerated chocolate mousse topped with crunchy caramelised hazelnuts with financier on the side, and lovely light and refreshing rhubarb trifle. Really nice that the pub bit downstairs is dog friendly. Perfectly comfortable but decor downstairs not really congruent with the standout food - maybe that will come. Different vibe upstairs but no dogs. A great find and under-exposed gem of the Shoreditch foodie scene. Can’t wait to go back.

I found the Princess Of Shoreditch to be a real hidden gem. The new A La Carte menu did not disappoint, all three courses blew me away. Michelin standard at a reasonable price, will definitely be coming back.

Completely blown away by the lunch we had here. The menu read simply, but the dishes and flavours were next level. We were served warm scones as a bread course. The dish of the day was actually a starter - artichoke served many ways. It looked unassuming but the flavour was mad. The octopus and cured sea bream also excellent. For mains, there was a knockout lamb dish with the biggest lamb croquette you've ever seen. We also enjoyed a trout dish with an oyster sauce, and pork cheeks which had a beautiful buzzy Sichuan element. Along with desserts (tarte tatin = amazing, & trifle = delicious), and friendly service, this was one of the best meals I've had. Will be back.

A short walk from London Liverpool Street Station, I visited here with a friend for my birthday. My friend was desperate to sample Chef Thomas' food, and we were in luck, because he was working and it was his last weekend there. They brought us out some beautiful Gougeres complimentary. We enjoyed a range of cocktails. To start, my friend had the seabream, rhubarb, cucumber and horseradish, whilst I had the leek fondue. We shared a specialty from the chef; a beef salad which was beautiful. I really enjoyed the Hake with Kohl Rabi, Turnips and Mussels. My friend had the duck, carrot, black garlic and pickled rose. For dessert I had the blood orange, fennel and buttermilk, my friend opted for the visually stunning rhubarb souffle. Overall, service was very good, despite them being exceptionally busy. Pace of service was great, quality of food brilliant. Good value food, would visit again. If you get seated upstairs, don't drink too much- coming down the spiral staircase is a little hair raising!

Had lunch here yesterday and it was a fantastic experience. The service was super friendly and helpful. The best thing was the food - absolutely delicious, creative and surprising! We had the set menu and it was a bargain, we ate every morsel. Atmosphere was great. My only gripe is the chairs were a bit on the hard side!

My four work colleagues and I had lunch at the Princess : choosing the £28.00 set menu for 3 courses; what an experience it turned out to be. The food was delicious and full of flavour; the Chocolate mousse and Hazelnut financier was truly scrumptious and very different from anything I had tasted before. The service was exceptional, add this restaurant to the places to eat; you will not be disappointed. A big shout out to the Chef; you made five foodies very happy.

We had an incredibly nice evening. The chef spoiled us with excellent food. The new octopus creation in particular is an absolute dream. It's worth eating here just for that. The drinks were also of a high standard. If you don't go here, you're missing out.

Waited around 90 minutes for our meals to come out. The server was friendly but we weren’t given updates that it was going to take such a long time. Food was ok, but not worth coming back. Was disappointing as I brought friends who were just visiting London.

My experience at the Princess of Shoreditch has been nothing short of delightful. This charming gastropub stands out for its sophisticated selection of dishes and the quality of its ingredients. The service is truly exceptional, making everyone feel at home. Each dish we tried was a testament to the culinary expertise behind the menu. I particularly recommend starting with the shared nibbles, which are perfect for setting the tone of a lovely meal. The ambiance is wonderfully cozy, making it an ideal spot for dinner. Additionally, their Sunday roast is a must-try – it's not only generous in portion but also super flavourful. I can't wait to come back very soon!

We came here for Sunday lunch and enjoyed the food and pub atmosphere. We opted for the 3 courses and I had the salmon (nice and fresh), sirloin of beef with potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy (generous portion and well cooked beef), the cauliflower cheese (great side to have with the roast) and the sticky toffee pudding (delicious). All the staff were friendly and the service was great.

Pub food trying at elevated price point / portioning. Not an awful place to eat by any means but totally missed the mark on what it wanted to be. Appetizers were good but mains disappointing. Not a particularly notable experience nor value for money. The beef cheek dish in the photo was almost £30, the plate looks a bit sad. Didn’t help that the staff were a bit cold. I misordered a dish and asked for what I thought I had, when I was corrected the server plopped the dish on the table with a strangely antagonistic attitude. Classy.

Mixed review. Firstly, this gastropub unfortunately does not play in the same ballgame as their sister restaurants Pig & Butcher and Smokehouse (which are both excellent). We had a roast here with a group of 10. The food was delicious, but very stingy on sides. We had about 1 potato per person and 1/4 of a carrot. Unfortunately one of the groups orders were missed and had to wait 25 minutes for their main. Staff were not attentive and lacked initiative to check on the table, offer drinks, check on waters, and clear the table. Toilets were quite dirty as well and the general atmosphere and energy was off.

On arrival, the restaurant was extremely loud, and we had to hussle through the crowd. We were taken to our table, a very close, tight, not restaurant table, but pub table. Our coats were not offered to be taken. We ordered food with our waitress before anyone asked us for a drink, and a drinks order was taken swiftly afterwards. The bread box was extremely good. The bread is warm & delicious, accompanied by 2 flavour butters. Starters are the same, simple but delicious. The main course took what seemed a lifetime to arrive & was disappointing. Presentation poor and the food far too rich. I could not finish. I had a side of carrots for £6.50! And they were nothing special. Although the waiting staff were polite and busy, they were not as attentive as i would have liked. We opted for the bill rather than the dessert menu. By this time, the pub was so loud that i couldn't hear my partner across the table, and it gave me a headache. I'm disappointed i shall not be returning, unfortunately. Shame because we have been looking forward to this restaurant for many years .
