The Taj in Bromley

After a bad experience a few months ago, I’m changing my review to reflect tonight’s order. The food was excellent! There was obviously a bad period but very happy to say it’s back to normal quality now

My original review has changed as I’ve now visited multiple times. Food is very good and service is excellent. Nice local restaurant. No complaints and recommend.

Excellent food quick Delivery first class all round

Really disappointed, was missing items - will think twice before ordering again as this is not the first time. No refund as apparently I missed a 24 hour period to claim - really silly.

The delivery was missing an item which after I called them, they sent the missing item which tasted horrible and was thrown away. The mains were not the best by along shot. Sorry no I won’t be ordering from the Taj again as there are many Indian restaurants on here with a better service and food.

After a small mistake with a missing item with our delivery, that was fixed and delivered within minutes I can happily say our order and food was excellent! Will happily be using as our new regular Many thank everyone

Another fabulous meal here, really friendly service, tasty food and great value for money, very well looked after.

First time order avoid! Before order just eat quote’s 45mins, when I placed the order went up to 1hrs 10mins. Called the restaurant at 1hrs 15mins to be told it’s 3mins away called again after 5mins to be told 6mins. Arrived 1hrs 35mins after order. The food was cold had to microwave everything. Madras was watery and we won’t be ordering again.

Order via Uber eats my deliver instructions tells them to come in the back gate 2 hours after ordering I got a friend to sit with my child walked into the garden and my order is sat in my garden bench ! In freezing temperatures

Great food, hot on arrival, friendly delivery guy!

After years of lovely food our Friday take away was a huge disappointment as our chicken Tikja Massala had loads of hair in, long and short.... yuck. We couldn't eat it. Unfortunately we won't be eating from there for a long while. The 5 star food rating needs looking into.

Everytime I try to order through Deliveroo or just eat my order gets cancelled. If you can’t be bothered to deliver to my area the take the area off the search results

Most Indian restaurants are, at worst, not memorable? The Taj, however, is one of the worst Indian experiences I’ve had in many years. This was a delivered meal… Seek kebab was dry as if it had been sitting around for a while, not at all appetizing, didn’t look good. Mint sauce was thin and watery, lacking flavour. onion Bahji was the first Flat onion bhaji i’ve ever seen, the shape of a burger? And soft! Not a crispy ball of flavour. The menu described it as a mixture of onions and potatoes with egg (never heard of that but I thought I’d give it a go) Nah! I ordered a plain nan but received what I assume was a peshwari nan, It looked like it was filled with sugar but I think it was coconut powder? Chicken Jalfrezi was just OK Lemon rice, similar. And the delivery was late… I can’t believe the good reviews on here, seems like a different restaurant?

Terrific food. Quality and fresh.

Rude management. I visited this restaurant with the hope to try some authentic Indian paratha so I ordered one paratha. After having paratha I realised it not the way we make in india. So I politely said it is good and get me check to which the waiter got annoyed and demanded that I order more as I cannot just order paratha and ask for bill and started arguing with me unnecessarily.

Great service, the waiters were very attentive. The Dhall, curries and nan were delicious. Also, it was affordable.I will be back.

Really unique sag paneer. Good chicken Dansak. Slightly late on delivery but worse things happen at sea

Always love getting a takeaway from The Taj but this one was very disappointing. Even the Naan breads weren’t as fluffy as usual. Will give them another go as been using them for years and hoping that was just a bad night!

The food was lovely as always and it arrived on time BUT there was a mix up. The wrong thing had been put in instead of the lamb chops we ordered. The restaurant realised and send the guy back to collect the chicken that wasn’t ours straight away, and he said the lamb chops would be with us in 5 mins. They arrived 20 mins later, by which time we’d eaten everything else.

Great price lovely food and still hot

I can’t rate this restaurant highly enough, I have been a number of times with friends and family and always found the food and service great. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Ordered a korma which was far too sweet, a prawn cocktail which was packed with the hot food so was warm. Rice & nann was ok. The onion bhaji was nice though

8 of us are at the restaurant last night. Waiter got unnecessarily rude and aggressive at the end when we asked to pay individually rather than as a group. I know they were short of staff but there is no excuse ever to be rude to customers. They clearly don't want custom!

We’ve been very loyal customers of The Taj for years, but sadly today was the last time we will order from them. We placed an order online and it showed as pending. After calling the restaurant they told us that their website had experienced a terrible glitch and that they were not taking orders via it, and that payment would be returned in a matter of days. We were a little disappointed as The Taj offers good food at reasonable prices. To our surprise, an hour and 20 minutes later we get a knock on the door from a driver handing over our order, which supposedly did not go through. We called the restaurant and was told that there was nothing that they could do and that they would ‘sort something out’ next time, which was ridiculous as we had ordered and received a takeout from another restaurant. When we asked the manager at The Taj to correct their mistake (surely somebody should have called us to advise that they were able to receive the order - even though it was pending and still is on the site), we were told that we could do ‘whatever we like’. Sad to say that this isn’t the first poor experience we’ve had, but this experience has cost us dearly - especially in this cost of living crisis!

My friends & I come to the Taj every 3 or so months to eat delicious food, catch up with eachother. Your staff are very polite, attentive, service is wonderful. Would totally recommend you if people ask about Indian restaurants.

One of the best curries I have ever had. Only just left but I had to write a review. First visit, but will definitely be back. Amazing food absolutely delicious. Also brilliant service. I had the butter Chicken Tikka. The other half had Chicken Balti both so tasty

Waited over an hour for delivery (despite being advised it would be delivered in 25-40 minutes) Uber Eats app was showing that order was on its way for almost half an hour (restaurant less than a ten minute drive from us) - when I called to chase they’d “forgotten to send the order to the kitchen”. Useless - avoid!

Been coming here 2 or 3 times in the year with friends to catch up. The curry is always top quality and the service better. Very friendly, whether they're chatting away with you, they're always warm and friendly with other customers. They're always happy to explain a new curry dish and recommend hot, mild etc. Just incase you're new to the game. We will always choose this place as our medium ground to meet up at for dinner. THERE WAS NO MINT SAUCE OR SALAD WITH MY CHICKEN TIKKA MAIN - I AKSO HAD A LAMB TIKKA STARTER 🤷‍♀️ ABIT ANNOYING AS VERY DRY WITHOUT

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have been using this Indian for delivery’s for a long time and I would never use anyone else! The ordering process Is so clear and simple with excellent clear descriptions of food, and most importantly, the food is so beautiful and tasty! This really is the place to get your takeaway from and also dine in as the restaurant and staff are just wonderful!

Mixed feedback on the food. Starters were excellent, tasty and cooked to perfection. The whole meal had to go in the oven for warming. Not a problem. Biriyani very dry and not enough Vegetable Curry. 30 minutes late and no apology at the door.

Food was good, but shocking delivery time. Almost 2 hrs from order to delivery. Had a notification to say food was on its way, but in fact didn't arrive for another 50mins. Had to contact restaurant to find out where our food was. Won't be using them again

Sadly the chicken dhansak was very dry (the meat was dry and overcooked so not pleasant)

Order arrived late.. food was cold but we accepted on arrival as hungry.. never again tho.. never ate it as got over hungry!

Was here last January 2022 visited last nite 14/01/23 with my daughter & husband very relaxed evening food drinks & staff absolutely faultless from start to when we left will be definitely be returning next week!!...

Ordered using Deliveroo. Shortly after I received a call to say that I was too far away even though it came up on Deliveroo at my address. They told me to get a refund from Deliveroo. I contacted Roo and they contacted the restaurant who have said they have delivered the order and won’t refund ! So they have just stolen the money! Restaurant just telling me to contact Deliveroo again ! AVOID !

The food arrived 42mins after leaving the restaurant, around a 5 minute drive away. It arrived cold, we had a few prawns and chicken in the dishes that arrived, half of the dishes where missing.

Missing Poppadoms in my order, 45 mins late and cold food. Really disappointed.

Great value for money, nice size portions, delicious food, very friendly delivery service, I would highly recommend this restaurant to eat in or takeaway.

So I’ve waited 100 minutes for my order to be delivered and after ordering 4 curries with rice, naan, poppadoms and sides. Everything arrived, except the 4 curries! I’m really not sure what use an Indian takeaway for 4 people is without the main. When I called them I was told that they would send the curries and we could keep everything else. Hot curry and cold everything else is a great idea. After spending more than £50 on an order I would never expect to wait an hour and 40 minutes for a delivery and then not receive the correct order. After being passed to a “manager” the only concession he offered was to send a bottle of wine with the curries. Completely unacceptable. Let’s see what happens when the next part of the delivery arrives…..

Overall excellent apart from the fact I ordered potatoes and got rice

The food arrived hot, fresh and well presented! You get so much for your money and it tasted BEAUTIFUL! This has always been my favourite Indian take out, I did not know they could get better then they was but last night proved they can- was like a home cooked meal Straight from the kitchen-Devine!

I would have rated higher but I did not want the food one hour earlier. Every dish was very tasty.

Starter was lovely, rice and Nan, can’t fault, but the chicken in the tikka masala was tough dry and not very nice. Bit disappointed TBH

The food portions are small and the samosas were cold- this use to be out favourite Indian and now will think twice before placing an order as was over priced for the portion sizes- they use to send a large foil box of each item and the samosas are tiny

One of the best take outs I have had in ages. Properly spicy Best taka dhal All round good. Some of the curry houses are a little tame and tasteless. This one was the best ordered from Orpington high street area

Very nice overall however rice wasn’t particularly hot.

Have been using The Taj for many years. The restaurant has been refurbished and has a lovely atmosphere in there. The front of house staff have changed and are very friendly and efficient. The food we had was the best I’ve ever had from here, absolutely spot on. Please give this place a try, I assure you, you won’t be disappointed.👍🏻😎

Pre-ordered food for opening time at 5.30. Got message at 18.10 to say it was on it's way. 25 minutes later status changed to enjoy your food. Rang restaurant and they said driver has just left.
