Best curry we've ever had. Highly recommend to us by the chefs daughter, the sherpa chicken. Lovely staff :)

It was the first time I had visited this restaurant, and I wasn’t disappointed. From the moment my wife and I walked in we were made to feel welcome. Food was outstanding and we will definitely return. A big thank you to all the staff!!

We had a really nice meal. We chose a couple of the Nepalese dishes and wow. It was a shame we were the only diners, but there was a constant takeaway trade. From our experience we would definitely eat here again.

We chose this restaurant purely based on so many excellent reviews and were left somewhat underwhelmed. Seating and lighting was like a cafeteria, rather than a comfortable restaurant. Service was lacking, and slow, staff were very inexperienced. Food had highs and lows; pickle tray was the worst we've ever had. Some starters basic and below average, but others, nice and would say above average, some mains really lovely. On the plus side, the prices were reasonable and we left full and satisfied but not enthusiastic about the experience.

Arrived in Penzance for a week. Some on holiday, me working! Saturday night it’s time to eat out. We wandered around the town and the first place we walked past was the Taj Mahal and a chap exiting the establishment encouraged us to book. But we thought we’d have a look around. After 1/2hr meander, we arrived back at the Taj to meet the same chap leaving again - he turned out to be a delivery driver for them. It wasn’t busy - slight concern. But a 5star hygiene rating and our rumbling tummies drew us in. What a fantastic decision. We were really welcomed and looked after. A wide range of standard Indian fare, but different Nepalese dishes. Which we sampled. Really was good. Nepalese beer washed it down (well the gents anyway). Ladies had lassi and a Martini & lemonade. Throughly recommended

Ordered a takeaway and can honestly say it was one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. Ready in 20mins. I had vegetable biriyani, it was delicious, so full of flavour. Peshwari naan was light & tasty and the poppadoms were thin, crispy and not greasy. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely order again :) :)

Looks like this restaurant has changed hands over the last 12 months. The starters were ok but a bit bland. The bread and the rice were fine. The bad bit comes at the main curry. I got the chilli lamb massalla. The meat quality lamb was quite a good. Now let's get to the curry itself. The massalla was very bitter with no garlic at all. The dried red chillies had not been soaked long enough so were like plastic and inedible. The bitterness of the sauce was so bad it reminded me of a curry out of a tin or a really bad jar. We eat out quite often and have promised myself to send back terrible food these days because its just too expensive to waste. The lovely young girl asked if I would like to order another meal. I was in two minds but said ok. I ordered a more expensive king prawn rogan josh which should have been a tomato dish. I think they had spilt the black pepper pot into it and it was horrible. I can eat Vindaloo so don't mind heat. This wasn't heat it was so full of black pepper and again was inedible. I left 80% of this too but had to pay for it this time. Rather than feeling embarrassed further. If this is Nepalese food it is horrible. I won't return.

Very high quality authentic Nepalese / Indian food. We eat loads of this type in the Midlands and this is right up there - some reviews suggest service / decor not quite there but we liked it and would come back. Delighted to find a place serving such top food in far flung Penzance. Great find.

We were recommended to visit Taj Mahal by our paddle board lesson instructor who lives in Penzance. Food was excellent, generous portions with a great range of tasty dishes including some Nepalese specialities. Would have been nice to have a wider selection of sauces with the poppadums but a small point! The lady who served us was excellent, knowledgeable and attentive, but the other waiter who said he’d only been working there for 2 months said he ‘didn’t have a clue’ when we asked pretty simple questions about the menu and availability of drinks and ‘they only had two jugs for water’. We saw the funny side!The decor was a big dated but a tasty meal overall and great value.

Went to this restaurant on the basis of several positive Trip Advisor reviews. Found it one of the most bland and unauthentic Indians meals I've ever had. Only slight positives were quite good pilau rice and nan breads.
