Lovely meal, beautiful Nan Bread, puffed up and not doughy or greasy, Tarka Dahl exceptionally good and a very flavoursome Malahi Dali (we ate in- remember for takeaway Nan doesn’t travel well and you get lots of sauce with the Malahi Dali which is great for dunking the Nan bead in). Great value for money in this part of the world, be aware they have a busy takeaway service as well

While holidaying in Liskeard the hubby and I decided to try this restaurant. We are early diners (6pm) so we were the only ones in there to start with. I was intially sceptical as the entrance was a little dingy and the doors clearly had not seen a cloth in a while. However, we were greeted by a very nice young lady who immediately made you feel welcome. My earlier misgivings were completed unfounded when the food arrived. I have never had a better Biriyani, and I have tried many across the country. I rarely eat the vegetable curry that comes with it but I demolished this one, it was so flavourful. The chicken tikka in the biriyani was cooked to perfection, not at all chewy as is so often the case. It was soft and tasty. The Onion Bahji was light and crispy and just melted in your mouth, absolutely no stodge. The nan bread - again just simply the best I have ever tasted. No stodge, not too 'bready' it was light with a bit of crisp to the underside. Hubby likes a Madras but recently has been put off because they just seem to be all about the heat, but Everest's madras was tasty and flavourful with just the right amount of heat. Egg & Pea rice was perfectly cooked, not sticky at all. With 1 alcoholic and 1 soft drink the whole bill was less than £50 and the after dinner mint was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this place if you are holidaying nearby.

My parents and I decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. All I can say is thank god for her recommendation, I didn’t even realise this marvellous place existed, hidden down Pike Street. Everyone was so welcoming, they moved us from the original table as there was a big party coming in and they said “it might get a bit noisy for you”. For some reason we forgot to order starters but we didn’t need them after the poppadoms and pickles, and in some respects I’m kind of glad we forgot! The mains we ordered alongside some veggie sides were absolutely gorgeous and generous, all three of us struggled to finish. I had the chicken dopiaza which was gorgeous, sweet and fragrant. My parents had chicken bhuna and chicken jalfrezi, along with mushroom rice and egg fried rice, garlic and plain naan. It’s currently 8.35pm and I’m as full and happy as I’ve ever been. What a diamond this restaurant is and the service was timely and impeccable. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Nicely decorated place. Very limited seating numbers. Good job it was quiet! Service was good and prompt. Food was disappointing. Mixed starter was small portion size. Mostly salad. Never had a sheek kebab which was only a piece of a full kebab. Chicken has a slightly peculiar taste. No raita yoghurt with mixed starter, which I’d say is unusual. Main curry of dhansak. Sauce gravy tasted nice with good kick. Again, chicken tasted odd and slight wood texture; I left the chicken. Nice pilau rice and good garlic naan. Not the worst I’ve had on my adventures, But not the best. I wouldn’t return or recommend. Sorry.

Visited whilst on holiday in the area, 2 adults and 2 children. We had booked a table but found we were the only diners there that evening, was on a Tuesday. Good choice on menu. Staff were attentive and friendly. Very large portions. Food was nice, although the chicken tikka masala was very coconuty, more like a passanda. Entrance was quite scruffy but the restaurant was decorated nicely. Toilets were clean.

An extensive menu with a mix of traditional Indian dishes and a few Nepalese options which we had not seen before but were keen to try. The food was served hot and fresh in good portions and extremely tasty. Service was helpful and friendly and we found out they have relatives with a Nepalese restaurant close to us which we will check out (Gurkha Lounge) Meanwhile this was very enjoyable and we will make a point of returning when next in the area

Staff are really friendly and helpful, their menu is great with tonnes of selection on types of dish as well as what meat, fish or veggie option you'd like for each, portion sizes are great, quality of the food is amazing, delivery times are reasonable with food always arriving hot and it's reasonably priced! I was going to give them 3 stars out of politeness, the driver was friendly guy, But then the family said zero stars and we have no option for none so one it is, This isn’t Indian food, I’ve eaten in loads of restaurants around Birmingham, I also cook Indian and a lot of my mates are Indian, so IMO the sauces lacks depth and are like no Indian food I’ve ever had, or Bangladeshi food, When people say it’s the best they’ve had, I can believe it is, as you only judge against what you know, and it’s on a par with what I’ve had at another restaurants in liskeard, I’ll try one more further afield maybe somewhere like Plymouth or That kind of distance and if that’s the same, I’ll have to drive to Birmingham and collect it, I’ll get a load and freeze them. Just edited it, in my anger I rushed it and it made no sense.

My partner and I decided to visit the Everest Tandoori restaurant to take advantage of the governments 50% food price reduction scheme. the whole experience was awful, and extremely stressful. We waited for an hour to be served our starters as they had forgotten that we had ordered them. When we complained we were told they they were busy. This was true but that was no excuse for forgetting the order. We also ordered drinks that never arrived. The noise in the restaurant was unbearable, and no waiters were available to ask for an update regarding our order, neither did they show any concern for the customers. To top it all, the price of our food was the same as we had paid on previous occasions despite the so-called governments 50% contribution. We have been treated appallingly and will NEVER visit this place again.

My wife and I, both in our seventies, love Indian restaurants, but, in Cornwall a good one is not easy to find. Our favourite is the Shanaz, in Truro, which we have used since it opened many years ago. But Truro is forty miles from us. We discovered the Everest quite by chance while shopping in Liskeard, which is just a few miles from where we live, and were amazed at how good it was and we hadn't even known it was there. This was about twenty years ago. We went often and it was always excellent. BUT, a few years ago, they had a new manager (I think a member of the owning family) and he made a lot of changes (including getting rid of table-cloths). Unfortunately, the food also changed and not for the better. After a while we gave up.and put up with an eighty mile round trip for a good curry.Last night we had our granddaughter (aged 19) staying with us and she said she would enjoy a curry and, not wanting an eighty mile round trip, we booked a table at the Everest. Oh dear! A huge mistake. It was quite the worst bought curry my wife and I had suffered for many years. Every dish was swamped with sauce. Everything was SWEET! It was horrible. Plus bare tables, no napkins, slow service and really poor food. NOT RECOMMENDED!

We were down to visit various friends who had moved down to Cornwall over the years. This Indian restaurant appeared on the local places to eat on the Internet and so we gave it a try. Service was by what appeared to be local students and we had to wait about a half hour after finishing our first course. Food was. 9and I could not recommend it. My Tandoori Chicken, something I usually really enjoy was bland by comparison and served with greasy onions and not in the traditional manner I had expected. There was certainly no sizzle!

I had the worst tandoori chicken I have eaten anywhere. It was so dry it was impossible to swallow. The mixed vegetables I had to accompany it mainly consisted of potato, but at least they weren't dry! The plain nan was ok. How can a tandoori restaurant not know how to make decent tandoori chicken? I called to complain, and was told there was nothing they could do. Apparently tandoori chicken is meant to be dry!

After 2 hours I called only to be told that they think our order has not printed out on their system even though we received confirmation. It was also clear that their member of staff had lied to us about the order leaving. This was the first time of using Everest and will definitely be the last. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and presented, Portions were generous. Service was excellent, the lady took time to advise us on different dishes. The restaurant was busy, it was a Wednesday early evening. Prices were not too high. Will definitely be visiting again.

Very nice place with adorable staff. They were really helpful and made our day. Biryani was a great dish, and the mix Nepalese Shish is highly recommended. 💕
